UK Based Otherkin/Factkin/Fictionkin Documentary- Participants Wanted!
My name is Sarah, and I’m a student at a London based University. I am in the process of producing a short documentary about those who identify as Otherkin, Fictionkin, or Factkin.
I am looking for people who might be interested in participating in the film. We would be hoping to interview UK based participants in person, and potentially explore a day in the life of a member of your community. Anonymity can be arranged if you are uncomfortable being out on camera. We may also be interested in interviewing members of the community over Skype, though are most interested in UK based participants.
I am interested in giving misrepresented and underrepresented communities a voice to express what their identity means to them, and offer an unbiased glimpse into your world. I am also interested in interviewing those who have some critique for the community.
I am more than happy to provide proof of identity. I am happy to answer any questions over Skype, and provide proof that I am a student at a reputable establishment.
If this is something you might be interested in, please feel free to contact me. Please note however, that I cannot accept participants below the age of eighteen without parent/guardian consent.

Hello! I've recently found out that I am kin with a really young character, about 10 years old. I feel this connection very strongly but I feel quite weird about it. Is it okay to be kin with a character who is younger than you? I feel kind of creepy for feeling this way but I can't pin point why. I really can't help that I am kin with him :(
Oh, sure! It’s not strange to have different ages from your kintypes. You were 10 once in this life, so you had to be 10 in that life too, right? It’s not creepy, I promise!

Is it.. is it okay to be kin with multiple characters from the same anime? Or does that just not happen. I’m so confused. I relate to all these characters but I can’t imagine idk I just need some help.
Totally! I have multiple kintypes from the same source and so do a lot of other people! It’s not weird or anything, it just turns out that way sometimes.
No need to worry! I hope you have good luck with your kintypes!

When it comes to memories in dreams, how do you know? My dream started out as a possible memory (I had a daughter in the wild, which makes sense for my canon) but later warped to be my non kin self trying to buy a business? Is it likely for the first part to be a memory? I saw myself so clearly how I used to be
I usually tell because it’s very distinct and more clear than a normal dream. Plus if it makes sense for your canon then that’s an added hint! Normal dreams tend to seem kind of foggy and more weird/random, plus when you wake up you can tell it’s a dream. Memories tend to be more grounded and solid? If that makes sense haha..
I think if you saw yourself really clearly then it was probably a memory! Much like most kin things, the feeling in your gut tends to be right!
Good luck with your memories!!

I'm wondering, there's this character from homestuck that i extremely relate to, right down to sometimes typing like her in texts. I think I might be kin with her though, I'm honestly not sure since i haven't felt any other kin things aside from that. It also feels a bit too intense for me to be a synpath. The character btw is roxy. -Someone who is very confused abt kin
It sounds to me like you’re kin with her, if you feel so strongly about it! When you get your first kintype it can be a bit startling, I know, but don’t worry! We’ve all been there! If it helps reassure you, when I can’t decide if I’m kin with someone or just synpath I usually ask myself if I really FEEL like that person or if they are just relatable. If you feel the urge to actually type like her then I’d say its more kin than synpath!
Best of luck, possible Roxy! -Evi

i'm not sure if i might be otherkin. i've felt an extremely strong connection to space/stars and stuff all my life, but specifically the moon. i also feel sort of like i might have wings? like i look up at the night sky and wish i was up there too but i don't think i was a bird or anything like that. do you know what this might mean, or possibly have resources that might be able to help? thank you!
Edit: OOF sorry I have my inboxes all combined and thought this was sent to our other blog!
Well there’s all sorts of things that relate to night/the moon that have wings and aren’t birds. You could be a moon fairy or something of the like. I’m having a hard time finding any mythological creatures that relate specifically to the moon, but I would say looking up myths about the moon/space might be a good place to start. Wikipedia is always a good place to look too because you can look at the sources on the bottom of the page to find other related materials!
I thiiiink there are moon elves in the world of warcraft series too? But they don’t have wings so I’m not sure how helpful that would be...
You could always be something that might not exist on this world too! If you can’t find anything that really feels right I would try thinking about what you feel deep down and trying to piece together whatever you can. Maybe you were some sort of space creature that was made of stardust! Anything is possible!
I hope this helps!!

Hi, ive been dating my bf for almost half a year. We met through the furry fandom and i now have discovered that he is an otherkin, he just didnt know that there was another group/ name for it. I dont judge him or anything, i accept him just the same. My question is if there is any advice for people(or furries) dating otherkin. Ive looked online and i couldn't find anything for it.
Dating someone who’s otherkin is just the same as dating anyone else! Depending on their kintype they may have certain quirks, like dogkin may like getting their heads scratched, while catkin may like taking a nap in your lap. I suggest asking your boyfriend what his connections and instincts are and seeing what would help him feel more at home! Sometimes it’s something as simple as being accepting and understanding about their quirks, just like anyone else!
It’s also important too that you are comfortable with everything happening in a relationship! If anything happens that makes you uncomfortable, even if it has to do with otherkin, you should talk to him about it and be clear about what happened and why to make sure that all parties of the relationship feel safe and happy.

i dont have any kin memories and im kind of split between wanting to remember and not? like part of me is curious to know what happened to me but the other part wants to focus on and live this life and im scared if i remember ill spend too much time dwelling on the past.
It is very important, being otherkin, to find a balance between your lives! While it can be fun and even revitalizing to learn about your past lives, it’s very important to focus on this life and live it to the fullest as well! If you spend all of your time focusing on your past, in your next life you will have nothing to look back on.
I suggest limiting yourself to an hour a day for meditating/writing/thinking about your past lives so that you give yourself some time to explore yourself, but you don’t become overwhelmed. Keep a journal so that you can review it every now and again without thinking about your kintypes every moment of the day. And of course remember to take care of yourself now so that you will have fond memories of this life to look back upon in your future lives!

im lionkin and i dont think i have any other kintypes but sometimes i have wings.. or something that happens to be in the same place as wings. i feel my kintype(s?) most strongly in astral limbs and instincts/urges, i think i only have one kin memory and it's super fuzzy... how do i figure out what the wings are from? should i try to "force" memories?
I don’t recommend “forcing” memories unless you are experienced or have someone close by who is either experienced or knows at least somewhat what they are doing in case something goes wrong. Hypnotic meditation, which is the best way to “force” memories can be very dangerous and lead to a lot of problems, so be sure to do your research before attempting something like that!
If you want to try to coax some memories out however, I suggest doing nothing but think about your kintype before you go to sleep, and then while you sleep it’s more likely that you’ll have a kin dream! You can also try writing about your kintype and as you write things might just pop into your head, flowing out easily when you’re not trying to focus too hard on them.
As for the kintype, I know winged lions are common in mythology, so perhaps you are just a lion... with wings! It could also be something else, and in time it will reveal itself to you! I suggest reading up on different winged creatures and seeing if any of them sound familiar!

It's really weird coming to terms with being a canon character but also being non canon, it's like, I found my vanilla version of myself which led to the discovery of my past life and now I can't compare myself to my sourceself! Which is discomforting but, vaguely comforting at the same time? It's like, I didn't copy my whole life off of my source but I'm also so different, how did I know or do I even know if I'm legit?
It’s very common to have a canon that’s slightly or even drastically different from your source. There are infinite universes, so the one that your source chooses to portray is not the only option! It can often be difficult to find others from such rare sources, but in a way it just proves that you’re more connected with yourself being that you’re able to recognize and separate your past lives with the source material!

heya,,, I’m polykin but I’ve only figured out one kin type. and I have a few astral limbs, no memories, and some habits but I haven’t narrowed down what I could be. the astral limbs are: a long, white tail that has a smooth touch and a single spike along the end, matching white feathery wings that barely ever appear, and a separate white-dark blue tail that has a whale fin on the end. I think these are two separate kins but I’m not sure what.
Perhaps some types of dragons? That would certainly be my first guess! I couldn’t find much on google, but I would suggest trying to draw some different designs as to what you feel might look right for each of these kins, and seeing what happens! You might not figure it out on the first few tries, but keep meditating and you’ll figure it out soon enough!

So recently I've been realizing more and more that I'm fictionkin with a few characters from various fandoms, and I was wondering if like, dressing like your kin is a normal thing to do?? I usually play it off like the shirts and pants and shoes I buy are for cosplay, but it makes me feel bad, because I'm just trying to dress like me, not like a character yknow?
That’s totally normal!! I have specific outfits I wear when I’m shifting with certain kins, right down to the socks. I think it’s something really cute about being otherkin and can really help make you feel more connected to yourself and show off your inner self!

So, sorry about not being active for a month and then flooding you guys with answers! I’ve been super busy with college and I completely lost track of time..
But! Some good news! Since this blog has reached 100 followers I thought I’d give my followers here a little heads up to look out for some cool stuff happening over at @thatkinfeelwhen! We’re working on something that I think a lot of people will really like, so please keep your eyes open if you’re interested! (Sorry there’s nothing extra special for 100 followers, but I figured actually answering some asks with a miracle enough lol)

I’m kin with somebody’s oc and said somebody is a bad person who’s give both me and my close friend panic attacks and is really immature. Do you have any advice on dealing with this?
As long as they’ve been okay with you kinning with said OC before I would just try your best not to interact with them. I’m not really sure about the details of the situation so I can’t get the best advice about this because it’s kind of specific, but my best guess would be to just observe from afar like you would with a fictionkin type and try not to get involved on a personal level with the person.
I’m sorry to hear about that though, I hope you can work things out!

Hey, this isn't advice more so it is like wanting explanation?? How can be people be kin with ocs??? And even their own ocs and be like "woah like here's this memory!!" It just confuses me- (Not saying anyone who is kin with ocs aren't valid just wanna know-)
This is the perfect question to ask me because I am kin with many of my own OCs!!
It’s kind of the same as determining you’re fictionkin! When you’re writing your OC’s story out and coming up with their character things just seem sort of different for one of them. And then you start to get really attached to their emotions, like for me when I would roleplay with Evansen I would feel like I really was in the moment and that didn’t really happen with my other OCs. Overall you just start to feel really connected to them and eventually realize that you’re kin with them, just like you would with fictionkin!
When you think about it, writing down stories for your OCs that you’re kin with is really just writing down all your memories. You might be able to take some liberties for the story and all that, but at the heart of it it’s things you experienced, like writing an autobiography about your own life. It’s kinda weird sometimes to be honest.. but I enjoy it!
You could also honestly say that kintypes which aren’t fictionkin or from a source could be made into OCs! I made my original elfkin, Sparrow, into an OC and integrated her life into one of my main stories because a lot of my memories for her matched up with some of my memories from my other OCkins, just from further in the past. It’s really fun for me honestly because I love writing stories and finding new memories from my OCkins and putting them down into stories that people can enjoy just seems really cool to me..
Sorry I kind of rambled on about it, I get really excited about OCkins hehe! I hope this answered your question!

Wait, you’re POC?? That gives me another reason to support your lovely blogs!
Yep, I’m hafu! Which means I’m part Japanese (Okinowan specifically) and part white! I was raised pretty heavily in my mother and grandmother’s Okinowan culture, so it’s really important to me but I don’t usually like to shout it out from the rooftops I guess haha..
Thanks for supporting our blogs though! I’m glad you enjoy them :^)
