I’ve been working on a little embroidered hobbit hole as a slow physical medium creative project. It has been so cozy and joyful to work on something that I created as I went.

Spent time drawing our friend the Red-capped amazon perched on a bead tree. This parrot is an endangered species in their homeland of Mexico due to habitat destruction and poaching for use in the pet trade. Local communities are working to increase awareness and preserve the habitat of wild birds to keep them flying in their natural habitats.

For today’s #birdartweek2024 I apparently got too excited about #backyardbirds and the call of the red winged blackbird that always makes me feel like I am home. Fortunately in addition to insects and seeds they also have been known to eat some berries and small fruit so they are technically partially a #fruiteatingbird. 🙃🪶

We are taking the time today to contact our alders and representatives urging them to ceasefire now in support of our Palestinian neighbors. Please do what you can to support and spread awareness in your community.

For today’s Cornell ornithology’s birdartweek2024 prompt- alpine birds I spent some time painting our friend the Boreal Owl. Boreal owls are hardly ever seen by humans as they are quite shy and primarily nocturnal. However in their northern most range of habitat they may hunt during the daytime due to the shortened summer nights.

We are spending time today to contact our alders and representatives urging them to cease fire today in support of our Palestinian neighbors. Please do what you can to support and spread awareness in your community.

First painting of the year pairs with my first cozy read of the year. Thimble from Travis Baldree ‘s Legends and Lattes was too too cute not to draw. I just want to be a cozy little ratkin baking in my kitchen. Let me know if you are reading any other cozy fantasy.
