Is NFT Market Coming to an End?

Why the NFT market is collapsing? This is really a big question and concern to everyone, especially NFT investors.

According to the report by The Wall Street Journal published on May 3, 2022, 7:15 am ET, many crashes in the NFT market to leading to an end, where NFT may collapse. 

The NFT sales have fallen down this week to an average of 19,000 per day. It means 92% less than the 225,000 registered in September, according to the data from the NonFungible website.

Last week, the number of active wallets in this market fell by about 14,000 from a high of 119,000 in November- an 88% drop in active wallet users in NFT.

To better understand it, understand NFT. NFTs are bitcoin-like digital tokens developed using blockchain technology.  It can be used as a certificate of ownership of token and originality of token.

Why Market is Falling Down?

There is no clear cut point, but as WSJ says;

The high interest by Federal Reserve banking really hits the market. Many NFT owners find their investment value less than what they paid for them.

People lose their interest due to the previous statement published by security firm Chainalysis- NFT is involved in money laundering and other criminal activities.

Robust regulation processes in the US and Europe, and the attention these assets are attracting, have made the authorities think twice about the NFT market.

The Nasdaq composite has fallen 23% and bitcoin has fallen by 43%. The Federal Reserve Banking continues to raise interest rates this week and in the coming months. 

As a result, investors are looking for other less speculative and safer types of investment, for example, scarce commodities and metals.

Auctions Value Goes Down

A clear example of the beginning of the end of the NFTs market can be seen in the deal when Twitter Inc.- Twitter co-founder and CEO Jack Dorsey sold it to Sina Estavi, CEO of blockchain company Bridge Oracle, for $2.9 million in March of last year.

In 2022, Mr. Estavi tried to put the NFT up for auction but he didn’t get any bids more than $14000. He might be expecting more, therefore, he didn't sell it.

However, Mr.Estavi did not consider this failure as a sign of the end of the NFT market. He said, this occurs because of fluctuations, and fluctuation is a basic routine of any market.  It may not possible to predict the future of NFT, but he believes that the NFT market is one that still developing.

“I bought NFTs and it is my capital, and I will never regret buying it,” he said.

Another NFT buyer purchased a Snoop Dogg-curated NFT known as “Doggy #4292, which featured an image of an astronaut and was sold for $32.000 worth of ether, in April.  Now, it is put up for auction for $25.5 million, but, the buyer has yet not received any bit higher than 0.0743 ether ($210).

According to Google Trends, interest in NFTs has fallen roughly 80% since January.  Somewhere, the NFT market is also affected by the imbalance between supply and demand. According to Chainanalysis, five NFTs are for every buyer.

Despite these statements and figures, the largest U.S crypto exchange is still dealing with NFTs.  Coinbase started a website, where users can use their existing wallets to buy and sell NFTs, without any trading fees.

Elon Musk Wants to Change 4 Things at Twitter

Elon Musk and Twitter have a deal and now Musk has made a deal with the social media site to buy Twitter for about $ 44 billion. Twitter and Elon will hold discussions to decide various aspects of Twitter policies, shares and etc. Currently, Twitter is agreeing to Musk's offer to buy Twitter.

Content Moderation-Rules and Policies

One of the big changes that Musk wants to bring to the Twitter platform is a change in policies and rules regarding Tweets. Elon raises the question, Is Twitter really protecting free speech?

He tweeted this on Twitter- “Free speech is essential to a functioning democracy. Do you believe Twitter rigorously adheres to this principle? “

In the response to Musk’s Tweet about 70% of 2 million respondents responded no. 

Musk wants the clearance of policies and rules and if they aren’t, they want to implement the existing policies and rules to put a stop mark on fake speech, misinformation, and other Tweet content that misguides others.

With respect to this change to Twitter, Twitter says its policy and rules decisions aren’t determined by either the board or shareholders, and it has no plans to reverse any existing policies. Hence, how much influence Musk can have on content moderation is a mystery now.

Combat cryptocurrency scams

The cryptocurrency scam has become one of the biggest concerns on Twitter’s side, and this has personally impacted Musk.

Cnet's page revealed how scammers have impersonated Musk using fake accounts on various social media sites to get people to give away cryptocurrency. In 2020, in the list of hijacked brands, Musk’s account was also among high profile Twitter accounts that were hacked to push a bitcoin scam.

Musk wants to remove this big barrier to Twitter's success and trust.  He wants to combat cryptocurrency scams by fighting crypto spambots on Twitter.

He thinks this is a big threat for Twitter users as well as for the brands, as hackers do scams by impersonating the big brands and that ultimately affects the brand's credibility.  Musk tweeted, that bots are the “single most annoying problem” on Twitter.

Edit Button

Twitter users asked for an Edit button to edit their tweets for various reasons, but Twitter wasn’t doing something about it, instead, they add an Undo feature as part of its Twitter Blue with a subscription plan.

On April 4, Musk raised this question again by tweeting a poll. “Do you want an edit button?” More than 4 million votes were cast, with almost three-quarters supporting the idea of an Edit button on Twitter.

Musk hasn’t shared his own perspective on the Edit button idea. 

Twitter Tweeted that it’s been working on an edit feature since last year—“no, we didn’t get the idea from a poll. The company added that it will start testing the tool in the coming months to learn what best works and what’s possible.

Twitter understands an Edit button idea could lead to several issues on Twitter.  In 2020, Dorsey told Wired that Twitter would probably never add an edit button.

On April 4, Agrawal responded to Musk’s edit button poll, he tweeted, “the consequences of this poll will be important. Please vote carefully.”  Looks like Twitter is now moving towards an edit button idea.

Twitter Algorithm

Twitter users have complained about social media algorithms. Some Twitter users prefer to see tweets in chronological order.

In March, Twitter focused on the complained and brought a change that would show the algorithm feed by default after user complaints.

 On March 24, Musk suggested Twitter make the algorithm open-source. Open-source software is freely available and can be altered.

Supporting the suggestion, Dorsey tweeted, “The choice of which algorithm to use (or not) should be open to everyone.

Musk said in a TED Talk that Twitter users should be able to see if a tweet has been demoted or elevated on the site so that “behind-the-scenes-manipulation) is avoided. He added Twitter’s code should be available on Github so that anyone can search for bugs and make suggestions.

Organize Memories More Easily with Google Photos-Latest Update

Google has revealed they are going to provide some latest updates to Google photos to make it easier to organize your files and sift through albums.

This Google Photos update will arrive over the coming weeks-post March 22, 2022.

Google said, they are updating the layout and providing the new grid list with large thumbnails that users can scroll through and then filter their memories by type. The filter may include, an album, shared album, favorites, on-device folder, and then sort. Moreover, there would be new “import photos” feature, a new section for the sharing tab, and a separate place for screenshots.

Google wants every user to get rid of that clutter of images, videos, and screenshots, in the app. In addition to a grid layout, you can also organize the Library by filtering for albums, shared albums, favorites, and on-device folders.

Google understands how clutters the screenshots are. That’s why Google comes with a separate place for screenshots. The screenshots uploaded to Google Photos will have a new shortcut at the top of your profile photo. From there, you can backup the screenshots and place them in the desired folder. This feature will help you organize your photos without tinkering with the screenshots.

Google will be adding new sections to sharing tab for partner sharing, shared albums, and conversation. This tab will help you to find, view and manage your shared photos and videos. Hopefully, these updates to the sharing tab will come to Android devices first and iOS at a later date.

The new “import section” can be found beneath the new Library grid, next to the Locked Folder. This feature will allow you to transfer or copy photos from other apps, and upload digitized photos or videos. You can find photos by filtering, relive them in new ways with Memories, and also can share them with your loved ones.

Google also revealed the new update feature to Android versions of contextual suggestions to copy text, crop, and search using Google Lens on screenshots. These suggestions will really help you to quickly take action on your screenshot in just a tap.

Beware! Stop Downloading Apps from Unknown Source

Unknown source apps can benefit you in some ways but always come with fraudulent motives.

Downloading apps from unknown sources might look legitimate but actually contain harmful codes that could steal your personal information and could harm your system as well.

The study revealed that cybercriminals are duplicating real smartphone applications and inserting malware. The report says that cybercriminals are impersonating fake apps outside the official Google Play Store from over 700 external websites with third-party apps stores.

Cybercriminals mostly target the popular apps with millions of downloads such as Angry Birds. Gaming apps are a primary target for cybercriminals. In the email interview between Lifewire and Ray Kelly, it is said these apps are a direct copy or similar style to the original app's game to entice users to download it. These apps are majorly found in unofficial app stores or the web and are sideloaded without any protections, leaving an unsuspecting user vulnerable.

According to McAfee Mobile Threat Report 2019, nearly 65.000 new fake apps were detected in December. And over 6 times the amount reported in June 2018. After that, Google had reportedly already taken down 36 fake Android security apps from the Google Play Store.
