Donald Glover - Childish Gambino

Childish Gambino — aka actor, director, singer, writer, Donald Glover — has kept the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks in a row with his recent single "This Is America.". “This is America” is Gambino’s first single since he dropped the 2016 studio album Awaken, My Love!.

"America" takes over the No. 1 spot from Drake’s “Nice for What,” which has ruled the chart for four non consecutive weeks.The song already marked Gambino's first foray into the top 10 of On-Demand Streaming Songs, after his earlier hit “Redbone” peaked at No. 11 (July 1, 2017; 10.8 million on-demand audio streams). Now, “America” has 26.7 million on-demand audio streams earned the week of May 17 -- its first full seven days of tracking -- according to Nielsen Music.

“America” concurrently spends its second week atop Streaming Songs, increasing in overall domestic streams to 69.6 million total, up 7 percent. A total of 61 percent of the song’s overall streams come from video views (down from 68 percent in its release week).

The imagery and iconography in Glover's video has kept culture critics talking since it dropped on May 5. Ongoing political and cultural tumult and turmoil, Childish Gambino’s “This is America” appears to be a commentary on black life in America and American culture as a whole.

In the music video, directed by frequent Gambino collaborator Hiro Murai, Gambino portrays satire of the minstrel tradition and the stalemated gun debate, along with about a dozen other things—it’s daring, provocative, traumatizing, cynical, discomfiting, ultraviolent, implicating, depressingly meme-worthy and some might say genius work.

Donald and a group of school children perform popular dances like the “shoot”and the “Roy Purdy dance,” while other people scatter in the background. Donald and the children remain the focal point, representing how social media blinds people from the true problems in America by feeding them entertainment and pointless trends... Juice Wrld

Jared Higgins was born December 2, 1998, also otherwise known as Juice WRLD,  an American rapper from Calumet Park, Illinois, from the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. Juice was first signed to Internet Money Records then subsequently signed to Interscope on March 13, 2018

Juice first gained major popularity from his track “All Girls Are The Same” , which gained even more recognition when popular director Cole Bennett made a music video for it. https://youtu.be/h3EJICKwITw . He’s often compared to Post Malone for his similar sounding voice and style.

“All Girls Are the Same” flips the rap stereotype of the artist conquering a plethora of women with a vulnerable, Cudi-esque song about sorrow caused by repeated heartbreak. Once again, Cole Bennett and Lyrical Lemonade have catapulted another artist into the spotlight. The official music video for this song racked up over a half million views in two days and even pushed Juice WRLD’s other video, “Autograph (on my line),” over 100,000 views in less than 3 days.

Juice explains vividly on POWER 92 about the song “Really that song was kinda like a compilation of everything I’ve been to like all the negatives as far as relationships. Cause I mean. you know, I would have had to have been through a lot to even come to the conclusion to make a statement that: “all girls are the same”. Obviously all girls aren’t the same, but if you’re going through a repetitive heartbreak and stuff you’re gonna think that. So that’s pretty much how that came.”

On “Lucid Dreams (Forget Me)” Juice WRLD explores the mental anguish someone feels after experiencing a break-up.Lucid dreaming refers to a state of conscious where a person is aware they are dreaming. With enough experience, a dreamer can slowly begin to control the contents of their dreams. Something Juice said from an interview  with ElevatorMag “Yeah. My producer Nick Mira used a sample from the band Sting, and I was like “Wow, I gotta really take off on this.” Most of my music is from real-life experiences, so the song was bittersweet. I was going through some hard shit and figured why not make some music about it.” Random: Juice WRLD has also said on an interview with No Jumper that his favorite artist is Chief Keef and his favorite album is Kanye West’s 808s & Heartbreaks.

Invasion of privacy

Its an emphatic response to those skeptics. The album is showy and upfront, at once brazen and vulnerable. Her first project released under Atlantic Records. 

The record is stacked with appearances by hip-hop and R. & B. A-listers: Migos, Chance the Rapper, YG, Kehlani, and SZA. Such a name-laden track list usually indicates a shameless attempt to search-engine-optimize a bloated body of work, but “Invasion of Privacy” is a mercifully cogent thirteen-song breeze. On her assured and outspoken debut, Cardi shuffles from pop-rap to designer trap to sing-song ballads and strutting promenades. 

Some punchlines are laugh-out-loud funny, others are immensely clever. “Invasion” launches with second-largest week of 2018, and the biggest streaming week ever for an album by a woman. She blasts in at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart The set, which was released on April 6 through The KSR Group/Atlantic Records, earned 255,000 equivalent album units in the week ending April 12, according to Nielsen Music. Invasion’s total unit bow, 103,000 were in traditional album sales -- the biggest sales week for an R&B or hip-hop album in 2018.

Cardi became the 5th female rapper to top the US Billboard albums chart, and also achieved the largest on-demand audio streaming week ever for an album by a woman. Apple Music announced that Invasion of Privacy set a record for the most streamed album by a female artist in a single week with over 100 million streams.

“Write a verse while I twerk, I wear Off-White at church/Prolly make the preacher sweat/Read the Bible, Jesus wept,” she raps on “She Bad.She raps things like, “’Fore I fixed my teeth, man, those comments used to kill me/But never did I change, never been ashamed,” she’s showing you the inside of her armor.She effortlessly covers quite a bit of ground, dressing down no-good boyfriends, considering her come-up from pissy elevators to walking red carpets in tailored gowns, or rallying twerkers everywhere to spontaneously pussy pop for guap. . “Money Bag”—where she, among many other things, parks a Bentley truck in a Versace driveway—Cardi lets slip the lingering effects of poverty: “I been broke my whole life, I have no clue what to do with these racks.”

My personal favorite is “Be Careful” is the third single from heralbum, The beat is a tinkle, not a gloomy horror soundtrack, and even though Cardi is rapping with ferocity, she’s also stepping gingerly; for a cheating boyfriend to be careful of her heart, because she doesn’t want to fracture it. At the bridge, she interpolates Lauryn Hill’s “Ex-Factor,” and she sings the hook with an enchanting rawness.

Post Malone pt.2

Beerbongs & Bentleys The newest album from Post, has 18 songs! Beerbongs is Post Malone’s second studio album, released on April 27, 2018 via Republic Records

Billboard reports that Post Malone is on pace to have the biggest streaming week ever for an album with Beerbongs & Bentleys. He's also set to debut at number one on the Billboard 200. The hip-hop superstar’s sophomore record Beerbongs & Bentleys has been certified platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for moving at least one million equivalent units in the U.S. in less than 24 hours of it's release.Between the massive number of streams the title has been racking up in the U.S. (it did break a number of records after just its first day on Spotify). It destroyed the record for the most streams of the songs on an album in the U.S., as the 18 tracks featured on Malone’s latest were played almost 48 million times (47,930,039, to be exact) in the United States alone. Plus all the streams around the world adding up tp 78,744,748 plays globally from the albums first day of availability. Most of it’s from the previously released songs "Psycho" ft. Ty Dolla $ign and "Rockstar" ft. 21 Savage. MOst is from “rockstar”, Malone’s inescapable smash record from last year, featuring 21 Savage. Only released last September still managing to get over 300 million YouTube views in that time frame.

Post Malone indulges in the hedonism and excess that has come with his success. Songs like “Zack and Codeine” and “Takin’ Shots” exemplify his wild lifestyle and are enjoyable romps that are devoid of any finger-wagging for partying extraordinarily hard. “Zack and Codeine” is a reference to The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, the mid-’00s Disney Channel TV show that hits a cultural sweet-spot for Malone’s Gen-Z audience. The album’s closer “Sugar Wraith” where Malone puts jock-rockers Sugar Ray’s 1997 hit ”Fly, their are more little jokes just very subtle hard to catch probably.

Further in he ditches the effects on his voice, souped up lifestyle and high energy production and goes straight acoustic as he outlines his struggles to maintain a relationship on the song “Stay”.  The first three singles "Rockstar," "Candy Paint" and "Psycho" are all high energy romps with wildly contagious hooks, what really makes Beerbongs & Bentleys are the darker songs that balance the album out. Songs like "Blame It On Me," "Paranoid" and "Rich & Sad". There’s a lot to this album and I think you should give it a listen. Could be come your new favorite or their could be a new favorite song of yours. You wont know till you listen. I hope you give it a try and enjoy (:

New Album

J.cole just dropped an album on April 20, 2018.

KOD- Kids On Drugs, Kids Overdosed, Kill Our Demons.

He’s a confident lyricist with an ear for a hip-pop hook, a willingness to address difficult subjects and an ability to weave compelling stories through his music

Cole’s raps have often been self-serious and polemical. On his new addiction-themed album, KOD, he loves to suggest that people should abstain from things—smoking, drinking, online dating. On “FRIENDS,” he confesses to his dependence on weed before calling out specific friends who abuse drugs then telling them to stop, also about depression and broken families to lack of opportunity—even if his solution to “meditate, don’t medicate” is naïve at best. On another standout, “Kevin’s Heart,” Cole uses the pint-sized comedian’s very public infidelities to reflect on the challenge of monogamy.  Cole simplifies lust on “Photograph,” “The Cut Off,” in which he commends himself for his generosity after talking about how tempted he is to become violent . He unites his audience against bogeymen like taxes, or the government, or white teachers in black schools, or a new generation of rappers.   On “Once an Addict (Interlude),” is about his mother, Kay, story of abandoned—emotionally or physically—by parents suffering from addiction (his situation) and it combines the emotional appeal and evocative detail off the album’s best tracks with the selfishness of its worst. He equates money hunger to an intoxicating devil's pie on "ATM".  For “Motiv8,”  Cole experiments with voice and flow, sliding an eerie interlude between two effortless bouts of flexing.

He has his fifth No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, KOD. He broke Apple Music's 24-hour streaming record with 64.5 million streams. On Spotify he had 36.7 million streams in its first day. The title track also broke the U.S. Spotify record for biggest opening day with 4.2 million streams. He also has tons and tons of views on YouTube for both videos he just release, for two songs on the album. The first video was for “ATM” he dropped was on 21, 6 days ago and now currently has 15 Million views. The second video is for “Kevin’s Heart” dropped two days ago and now it has 7.3 Million views already.

The whole album talk about a lot but habits laid out bear a loose resemblance to the capital vices—pride, greed, gluttony, sloth, lust, envy, and wrath. The seven deadly sins, as they’re called, are often linked to recovery. He also goes on about drug use explicitly against it. Hopefully this review enlightened you and you decide to give it a listen. Drake pt.2

Nice For What” dropped April 6, 2018. This song has charted No. 4 on Billboard’s Rap Airplay chart dated April 21. “Nice” also claims a new best start of any song on Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop airplay, with a No. 8. He has become the first artist to replace himself with back-to-back No. 1 debuts. From “Gods Plan” to “Nice For What”. Its only been a about a week or two and he has about 43 Million views on YouTube alone. 

This song is upbeat track that ‘happy drake’ made will have you singing and dancing along to the chorus as soon as you hear it. It’s under the genre of Bounce music,Rap and Hip-Hop. Critics say it has 2009 R&b kind of sound. Although Drake has never worked with Lauryn Hill. He did sample Hill’s “Ex-Factor.” It can be heard in the intro and throughout the outro of “Nice For What”. Drake wanted “Nice for What” to arrive with both music and visuals, a fully packaged message. Drake’s domination atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart continues, but with a different song this week, as new single “Nice For What” debuts at #1, stopping the command of his own “God’s Plan” after 11 weeks on top. In addition to his recent singles, Drake was prominently featured on BlocBoy JB’s “Look Alive," as well as his remix of N.E.R.D.’s “Lemon.”

The songs about female empowerment in the digital age. He shows that he understands and appreciates the hustle through the lyrics and imagery. The music video of “Nice For What” is for the ladies because he tried to capture how each women looked in what feels like her most natural setting. The video is filled with a ton of superstar cameos – all female’s are extremely successful. Stars such as Olivia Wilde, Tiffany Haddish, Rashida Jones, Letitia Wright and Michelle Rodriguez appear.  He wants to make women feel strong and valued in this “mans world”.

The Weeknd

My Dear Melancholy is the first EP from Abel.  It was released on March 30, 2018. The ‘mini album’ can be labeled as Contemporary R&B, Alternative R&B, Electropop under genres of music. A lot of his old fans have been saying that this new album remind them a lot of his older music from before he was more popular in the music industry. When he became popular his music became more poppy; I'm sure it was to fit in with the industry and what people like to listen to. However, now his music went back to being slower and sadder, from this EP that I can tell. I still enjoy most of his music, this music is just a little better. This mini album in total has 6 songs and all were charted on the Hot 100 during the first week it was out. The song “ Call Out My Name” is the highest charted song from the EP ranked at No.4 on the Hot 100. This EP makes his third album at No.1 on the Billboard 200.

The Weeknd also has song a called “Pray for Me” featuring Kendrick Lamar. It was in the movie Black Panther, this song has been out since the movie was playing in theaters. Which means its been out since February. The song was still put on the EP; The movie helped make it very popular. Also the fact that Kendrick Lamar was featured on it made it more popular i'm sure. It’s a very hip-hop, pump up song.

He uploaded a mini behind-the-scenes documentary named He Was Never There, onto his YouTube channel Monday (Apr. 9). The video has grainy footage of the Abel recording vocals and listening back on tracks in the studio. It 6 minutes so it briefly shows the creative process of how he works. Some people have been saying that this ‘mini album’ could be about Selena Gomez and their relationship. The song “ Call Out My Name” gave people these suspicions because he says

 "I almost cut a piece of myself for your life" 

which could be metaphorically but a lot of his fans believes he's talking about when Selena needed the kidney transplant about three months before they split up. He also mentions in the beginning of the song that

 "We found each other                                                                                            I helped you out of a broken place                                                                       You gave me comfort                                                                                               But falling for you was my mistake" 

That could be him talking about their relationship again because it began not long after she went to rehab for her chronic autoimmune disease Lupus, which caused her to get anxiety and some depression. Diplo

Diplo recently dropped a song with Trippie Redd called “Wish” on March 22, 2018. "Wish" was leaked in a more raw form last month, which more fans of trippie’s enjoyed more. Some lyrics from trippie.

Some of the lyrics could be seen as dark but it feels bright and fast enough to be labeled as pop. Something different for Trippie but more like Diplo. Even if it's a little too clean for Trippie’s early followers, there will be some new listeners who find Trippie through the collab, and some might take time to dive a little deeper into his music.

Diplo confirmed the track’s full commercial release on Twitter as a part of his California EP. Changing the song from how trippie expected it to be to something more smooth and less Trippie w rougher edges.

XXXtentacion Pt.3

He just released a new album called “?”

This album has a wide verity of his music ability. He has many slow songs and some loud upbeat songs, heck he even has a Spanish song on this album titled “i don’t even speak Spanish lol”. He also included changes, sad and hope which are songs he had just released about a week or two before he dropped this 18 track album.  He also helped produce and make this album and most of his music. He is starting to grow a larger fan base, not just young kids but adults as well enjoy his music.  XXX is planning on and trying to get his album to NO. 1 for the charts. The new album is expected to launch to number one this week on the album charts, according to Billboard's reports. The charts he has right now for the album are caused by having already released songs charted close to NO. 1. Having songs charted so closely to one will evidently bring the album closer to NO. 1. He was at NO. 92 on the chart and launched to number 12 due to the success of recent singles.

Not to mention he just dropped a track called “heart eater”. Originally it was going to be called poison but the name changed. This song was also supposed to be track 7 onn the new album but got left off. the only reason this song was dropped was because X told his fan if they could get Miami Children’s Initiatives Instagram page to 30,000 followers he would drop a song that didn’t make it onto the final track list of this album. Sure enough his fans even went over the amount he wanted them to achieve so he dropped the song on SoundCloud. On Sunday (March 18), XXXTentacion held his A Helping Hand benefit concert in Pompano Beach, Fla. Hes trying to influence his fan base or followers as he likes to call them to be more loving and positive towards others, the world and themselves. Hes trying to cause a movement called the #helpinghandchallenge. He has changed and is changing to a better person and is making positive changes in this world. Logic pt.2

He just dropped a new mixtape called Bobby Tarantino II, on March 9, 2018. He has about 13 tracks in total featuring Big Sean, Wiz Khalifa, 2 Chainz and Logic's alter ego Young Sinatra, and also includes songs such as 'Overnight' and 'Everyday' produced by Marshmallow , its the followup to last year’s Everybody album

Rick and Morty helped get the word out that there will be a new music with a skit. Logic published the Rick and Morty teaser on his YouTube channel Wednesday, and in the clip, titled “Grandpas Spaceship,”  arguing about which Logic they should listen too: “album Logic” vs. “mixtape Logic.”

XXXtentaction Pt.2

X for short just recently dropped two song “Change” and “SAD!” that are hinting at what might be on the new upcoming album and a third song called “Hope”. These songs particularly from him are some of his more slower, sadder and vulnerable songs.

“SAD!” and “Changes” where both dropped Four days ago ( March 2, 2018 ) . Currently the song “Changes” is at number 28 on the Itunes trending page. It also has about 3.9 billion views on YouTube while “SAD!” has 5.1 Million views in just four days. The “SAD!” song has been liked by a wide rang of ages because it’s a faster upbeat and “Changes” is a slower, with a lower down mood. The song “hope” was dropped on Feb 21, 2018  he dedicated the song for victims and survivors of the Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Fla. “Rest in peace to all the kids that lost their lives in the f***ing shooting."

Trippie Redd is a rapper that blew up from soundcloud. He dropped a YouTube video about 6 days ago for the song “Dark Knight Dummo” featuring Travis Scott. It has about 3.2 Million views and its highest rank on the Billboard Hot 100 was #72 since it was first released about 2 months ago.

Stranger Things

This song is #1 trending on YouTube with 672 Thousand views. The name of the song was inspired by the Netflix show, bet you wouldn’t know, how did you know!? oh right its the same name as the stranger things show. This song is apart of the “Angels & Demons” project. Its a Collaborated album, still not out so we have this release to listen from of their new music.

Drake just released some new music . He has been in the rap/hip-hop game since forever it feels like to some. Every time he drops some new music it charts on the billboard super high and gets trending. He recently just dropped two new songs about 2 weeks ago. “God’s Plan” is one and the other is “Diplomatic Immunity”. 

“God’s Plan” is way more popular than “Diplomatic Immunity” because it is  more upbeat song and faster pace song getting more people pumped up and in a better or good mood. While as diplomacy immunity is still a good song it’s slower and more mellow, not as “lit”.

G-Eazy’s full name is Gerald Earl Gillum. He is an American Rapper and record producer from California. His first major-label album was “These Things Happen” which was released on June 23, 2014. One of his most popular songs are from this album. The song “I Mean It” was a hit for Gerald making him blowup for a bit and grow his fan base. It charted NO.16 on the Billboard Hot 100 on March 31, 2014. The song is about how everything he says and is saying is real. DECEMBER 15, 2017! its called “The Beautiful & Dammed” The most popular song off the album is called “No Limit” Featuring Cardi B and A$AP Rocky. Its currently charted at NO. 8 on the Hot 100 Billboard, with 58 Million views and counting on YouTube. Gerald said this song was recorded in about an hour or less on his Genius Interview/Lyric breakdown. This is his third major label album. 

The album shows the highs and lows of fame and the conflict between his public and private life. He is going to have a tour for this album. The tour’s first show is on February 15/ 2018 in Houston ,Texas. Trippie Red and Phora will be tagging along with him on tour. So many are excited for the album and how it just came out and the tour coming up. You should give him a listen, I would recommend songs the songs I talked about earlier. Marco Anthony Archer is an American rapper from Anaheim California.             In 2011 he started his own record label called Yours Truly. He has his own clothing line and merchandise under the name “YoursTrulyForever” website YoursTrulyForever.com  . On his site he posts and sells his music. He usually has black Friday, cyber Monday, Christmas gift and back to school sales. He recently had a black Friday and cyber Monday sale that on black Friday his site had crashed because so many people were on at once.

 He stays connected with his fans through social media. He makes a lot of his decisions with the fans help with polls sometimes and posts announcements about albums, music drops, how he's doing, advice for his fans and music drops. He has had more than one interview and breakdown about his music or a song by Genius. Yours Truly Forever peeked NO.44 on Billboard 200 on September 9, 2017

His interest and rap career started around the age of 7.He has 7 albums, his first dropped in 2012 “Still a Kid” and his latest was released in 2017 called “Yours Truly Forever” with one EP called “Nights Like These”. 

His music tells his stories, thoughts and struggles. He tries to help his fans with his music. The music also helps himself, letting him speak his thoughts through the thing he loves. He’s survived a stabbing and two shootings. One of the shooting incidents was on the news, he was on the freeway in Pasadena with his girlfriend and they shot him. He was really close to dying. He has songs about these experiences plus many more.

Popular songs of his are “Fake Smiles”, “I Think I Love You” and “Sinner part2″. Each song of his holds a great deal of emotions with heart filled lyrics telling a story and struggle. One of his older popular songs called “MyStory” has about 7.5 million views on YouTube from the album “Sincerely Yours”. A more recent song called “I Think I Love You” has 6 million views on YouTube from the album “With Love”. He has many more interesting heartfelt songs that you should take a listen too, just know that they are very emotional and deep.

His music is more emotional then most rap/hip-hop.

Diego Leanos is a SoundCloud upcoming rapper mostly known as Lil Xan. He's from Redlands California and he’s Mexican-American. He has 2 albums both produced by Columbia records called “Troubles in the Trap” and “Starburst & Cranberry Juice”. His music falls under Hip-hop, Trap music and Cloud rap.

He recently has become more popular because of his song called “Betrayed”. The video on YouTube has about 52 Million views and peaked at number 69 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was released on June 19 of this year but the music video was released on August 28 (this year).     

This song is about his previous addiction and struggle with his use of Xanx. He talks about the bad side affects of taking xanx, girls hes with and other drugs.

Another popular song of his is called “Far” with 7.4 Million views on YouTube within 4 weeks of being posted. His music videos are directed by ColeBennett. The song Far is about how “Far” hes gotten in the rap industry even without a lot of negative comments on his career. He didn't release this song on SoundCloud just on CloeBennetts YouTube. It was posted on October 31, 2017.
