Cosmic Witchcraft: On Cosmic Bodies
Please keep in mind, this post is all my UPG. Take with a grain of salt and make your own correspondences if you wish.
When we talk about astrological magic, some practitioners stop at the moon, maybe the visible planets. But cosmic witchcraft reaches into deep space, drawing power from asteroids, star clusters, galaxies and more beyond.
🌌 Cosmic Bodies & Their Magical Correspondences
🌠 Fixed Stars
Sirius (Canis Major): Divine messages, protection, channeling.
Aldebaran (Taurus): Courage, wealth, archangelic protection, steadfastness.
Regulus (Leo): Royalty, honor, ambition, solar power, resilience.
Antares (Scorpio): Passion, baneful workings, ancestral, decisive endings.
Vega (Lyra): Beauty, music, harmony, glamour magic.
Use fixed stars for spells with legacy, ancestral magic, or anything to do with elevation, something that’s meant to last.
🪐 Asteroids (especially in natal/astro magic)
Chiron: Wound healing, soul retrieval, deep initiation. Great for trauma healing magic.
Vesta: Hearth, devotion, sacred flame, inner temple. Amazing for home + body blessing spells.
Ceres: Nurturing, grief, abundance cycles, fertility, ideal for working with seasons and life/death cycles.
Juno: Partnerships, sacred contracts, marriage. Use in commitment work, handfasting prep, or healing toxic ties.
Pallas Athena: Strategy, spiritual insight, psychic defense, ancestor wisdom.
Lilith (Black Moon): Shadow work, empowerment, baneful justice work.
Asteroid magic is intimate. You use it for personal spells, deep inner work, and reshaping your own archetypes.
🌌 The Milky Way
The galactic plane. This is big-picture magic: life path revelations, ancestral magic, and connecting to the universe.
Use Milky Way magic in astral work, spirit travel, or visions. Offerings could include starlight-infused water, music played outdoors at night, or devotional poetry.
☄️ Comets & Meteors
Sudden change, insight, fate cracking open.
Use when you need something to shift dramatically or want to do "crash and burn" style spellwork to end old cycles fast. Think a tower moment mixed with the death card.
🌌 Galaxies & Nebulae
Andromeda: Boundaries, freedom, releasing old cycles. Good for undoing generational trauma or societal expectations.
Orion Nebula: Birth of stars = birth of new ideas, new projects, or new identities.
Pleiades (Seven Sisters): Connection to the divine feminine, intuition, dream work, ancestral healing.
Galactic energy is collective. Think community work, legacy spells, healing the future.
🔭 How to Work With Cosmic Magic
Timing: Use star rise/set times, galactic alignments, or transits through fixed stars.
Offerings: Starlight-charged water, sky-gazing, poetry, incense smoke sent up like a message.
Rituals: Deep meditations, journeywork, mirror scrying.
Correspondences:
Colors: deep violet, black, white ish gold, navy blue
Herbs: mugwort, damiana, blue lotus, star anise
Crystals: labradorite, meteorite, obsidian, amethyst
🛸 Suggested Cosmic Spell Ideas
Milky Way Lineage Spell: Call in wisdom from your ancestors to guide your next chapter.
Fixed Star Focus: Align your solar plexus with Regulus for confidence and clarity before a major move.
Asteroid Archetype Work: Work with Vesta to reclaim your sacred space or Chiron to release shame.
Comet Curse Breaker: Use a meteor shower to destroy lingering patterns in your life.
Galactic Web Ritual: Visualize weaving threads between you and spiritual allies across time and space. Astral work is a great example.
Final Thoughts
When you reach for cosmic magic, you're syncing with galaxies and drawing power from beyond the veil of something that we have yet to fully grasp.
Use it when you’re ready to transform, to connect with something ancient, or to call in a future you are seeking for.
Blessings,
Juniper

Forging A Blasting Rod

-My personal blasting rod.
A blasting rod is a specialized magickal tool used in witchcraft and ceremonial magick, primarily for baneful workings, commanding spirits, protection, and energy projection. Unlike a traditional wand, which channels and directs energy gently, a blasting rod forcefully projects power, making it a tool of will, authority, and raw energy manipulation. This guide will walk you through selecting materials, crafting, and charging your blasting rod.
Understanding the Purpose of a Blasting Rod
A blasting rod is used in high-energy workings, including:
• Commanding spirits in ceremonial or necromantic magick.
• Cursing and hexing with focused intent.
• Banishing unwanted energies with force.
• Defensive and protective magick, repelling negativity.
• Directing raw power in aggressive spellwork.
It is a tool of action, unlike a regular wand, which can be more neutral or passive in nature.
Choosing Materials
Wood Selection (Powerful & Commanding Woods)
The rod should be strong, sturdy, and hold commanding energy. Some of the best choices include:
• Blackthorn (Prunus spinosa) – The traditional wood for blasting rods, used in baneful magick and spirit work.
• Black Locust (Robinia pseudoacacia) - Another favorite for blasting rods, used in attack/defense magick, blood magick, and baneful magick.
• Ironwood (Ostrya virginiana) - Formidable and strong when dealing with unwanted forces.
• Rowan (Sorbus aucuparia) – Protective and potent against unwanted spirits.
• Oak (Quercus spp.) – A wood of strength and dominance.
• Yew (Taxus baccata) - Symbolic of death and doom, ideal for baneful magick and interacting with the spirits of the dead.
• Holly (Ilex aquifolium) – Often used in aggressive and defensive magick.
• Hawthorn (Crataegus spp.) – Excellent for curses, hexes, and protection against harmful forces.
If possible, gather the wood ethically—from naturally fallen branches rather than cutting from a living tree. Some traditions believe the wood should be taken from a tree struck by lightning for added potency.

Length & Shape
• A blasting rod is usually longer and thicker than a traditional wand, about 12-18 inches.
• It should feel balanced in your hand, not too lightweight or delicate.
Crystal & Metal Enhancements
To amplify its power, consider embedding:
• Opal (especially black) - Amplifies malefic energy.
• Obsidian or black tourmaline – For protection, banishment, and absorbing negativity.
• Quartz (Clear, smoky, or black) – Strengthens and amplifies energy projection.
• Ruby – Focuses your intention onto the target.
• Amethyst - Self destruction, nightmares, paranoia.
• Garnet - Drains energy from the target.
• Sardonyx - Returns negative energy to sender.
• Malachite - Illicits fear and anxiety.
• Meteorite - Used as an amplifier in baneful magick.
• Iron – Binding, commanding, often used in defensive magick.
• Copper - Amplifier, increases power and effect.
Crafting the Blasting Rod
Cleansing – Before crafting, cleanse the wood by smudging it with mugwort, dragon’s blood, or wormwood smoke. Washing it with saltwater or an herbal infusion (rosemary and rue work well).
Shaping – Strip off excess bark (optional) but keep some texture for a rough, commanding grip.
Symbology – Carve runic symbols, sigils, or glyphs into the shaft. Leave one end pointed or tapered for directing energy.
Adding Power Enhancements - Wrap the handle with black leather, red twine, or iron/copper wire to contain and direct energy. Affix a crystal or iron nail at the tip for added force.
Anoint with ritual oils like:
• Dragon’s Blood – Amplifies power, brings destruction.
• Wormwood & Mugwort – Strengthens spiritual command.
• Black Pepper & Sulfur – Adds potency in baneful work.
• Myrrh - Boosts malevolent power.
Charging & Consecrating the Blasting Rod
A blasting rod should be charged under intense conditions to match its purpose. Some methods include:
Consecration Ritual
• Set Sacred Space – Cast a circle or work at a crossroad, cemetery, or dark moon ritual setting.
• Elemental Charging:
• Fire: Pass the rod through flame (candles or bonfire) to awaken its force.
• Earth: Bury it overnight in graveyard dirt, sulfur, or black salt.
• Water: Dip it in storm water, ocean water, or an infusion of baneful herbs.
• Air: Hold it in thick incense smoke (dragon’s blood, myrrh, or mugwort).

• Invocation of Power:
Hold the rod and speak,
"Rod of might, tool of command,
Through storm and flame, by my hand,
Channel power, force of will,
Let no spirit act against my skill."
Charging Under Planetary & Lunar Energy
• Dark Moon – Best for baneful, binding, or spirit work.
• Full Moon – Enhances overall energy projection.
• Tuesday (Mars' Day) – Ideal for charging aggressive or commanding tools.
• Saturn’s Hour – Adds banishing and protective strength.
Using the Blasting Rod in Magick
Now that your glorious rod of blasting is complete, it's time to unleash its power.
Baneful Work (Hexes, Curses, & Banishing)
• Point the rod at a poppet, target’s name paper, or spell jar while chanting.
• Direct energy into curse sigils or spellwork for amplified power.
• Break curses by striking the ground or altar with the rod.
Commanding Spirits & Evocation
• Used in ceremonial magick to bind, summon, or dismiss spirits.
• Strike the ground or altar three times when calling a spirit.
• Use it to trace sigils in the air when working with the dead or the astral.
Protection & Warding
• Point at a door or window while chanting to seal a space.
• Use it to break hexes or disrupt malevolent energy fields.
• Bury near your home’s entrance to create a protective ward.
Final Thoughts & Maintenance
• Recharge it under powerful celestial events (eclipses, storms, or planetary transits).
• Store it separately from gentler tools, preferably wrapped in black cloth.
• Never use it casually – a blasting rod is for intense, serious magick only.
A properly crafted and consecrated blasting rod is a tool of great power and responsibility. It should be treated with respect, as it embodies raw will, force, and command.

A Witch’s Almanac: Astrological & Magical Events for July 2025

July is here, and with it comes a wild sky full of shifts, whispers, and maybe a few universal nudges that are worth paying attention to. Whether you're syncing your practice with planetary energy, working candle spells, or just watching the stars from your window, this month holds plenty of opportunities to tune in, reset, and focus on you.
Here’s what energy is unfolding in our lives this July and how you might want to work with it.
🌕 Full Moon in Capricorn – July 10, 2025
Also called the Buck Moon, this lunation is all about growth, literal and spiritual. The name comes from the time of year when bucks grow their antlers, but for us witches, it’s a time to reflect on our own strength and ambition.
Capricorn brings that “get your shit together” energy, but with the full moon, it’s more about why you’re building what you’re building. Where do you want to root yourself? What’s the long-term vision you’re working toward, even if life feels messy right now?
Try this: Set intentions around discipline, personal power, or releasing fears that keep you small. Think: a candle ritual for long-term goals, a journaling session on your legacy, or offerings to land spirits if you're working with the earth directly.
🌑 New Moon in Leo – July 24, 2025
Leo’s energy is fiery, bold, and expressive, but this new moon isn’t about being loud.
This is a fantastic time to reimagine yourself, especially if you've felt disconnected or dim lately. Who are you becoming? What deserves the spotlight in your life?
Try this: A mirror spell, a personal glamour, or even writing a letter to your future self. This is powerful energy for witches working through identity shifts, body image work, or confidence rituals.
🔄 Retrogrades and Planetary Shifts
Here’s where things get a bit zesty:
Neptune retrograde (July 4th-December 10th) – If you’ve been feeling foggy, dreams unclear, or spiritually “off,” Neptune pulling back can help clarify things. It is a time for inner work.
Uranus enters Gemini (July 7) – Expect sudden shifts in how we think, speak, and connect. Perfect for witches experimenting with new tools, tech, or divination styles.
Saturn retrograde (July 13 to November 28) – Time to reassess boundaries and your own self-discipline. If something feels heavy, ask why you’re still carrying it.
Mercury retrograde begins (July 18-August 11th) – You know the drill: double check your spell ingredients and maybe don’t hex your ex via email or something. Better to revisit old projects, reflect, and journal than push something brand new right now.
🌠 Meteor Shower Magic – July 29–30
The Southern Delta Aquariids and Alpha Capricornids both peak around this time, bringing dreamy skies and big wish making energy.
Try this: Write a wish or goal, burn it safely, and scatter the ashes under the stars. Or just sit under the sky with a cup of tea and feel into what your spirit is calling in. Sometimes the best spells are just moments of presence.
That's About It Folks!
July’s energy is dynamic, part transformation, part retreat. There’s this natural rhythm of letting go, then stepping up again. The sky’s giving us a chance to sit with our deeper intentions and reconnect with what actually matters.
You don’t need to do everything. Just one small ritual, one quiet night under the stars, one clear intention written down, that’s enough to shift something within your life. For my fellow spoonies, prioritize rest and recuperation. It's very much an energy heavy month, remember your self care.
Take care, wishing you good health & blessings,
Juniper

Buck moon - July 10th 2025
On Thursday, July 10, 2025 is the Buck Moon, a name that reflects the season when male deer start to develop their new antlers.
This full moon symbolizes growth and transformation, and it is thought to possess magical qualities that can assist us in progressing in our lives.
Where the Name Comes From
The name “Buck Moon” comes from Indigenous traditions, particularly from Algonquin speaking peoples. It marks the time when male deer begin to grow their antlers back, soft at first, still covered in velvet, but growing stronger by the day.
Some Astrological Correspondences for This July
It’s a Full Moon in Capricorn ♑, highlighting earthy, disciplined, and ambitious energy.
Connecting goal-driven Capricorn vibes with Cancer season energy, suggests a powerful moment for planning, executing, and emotionally recalibrating before entering Leo season.
Other Names & Folklore
July’s full moon goes by a few other names depending on where you look:
Mead Moon, for the time when honey is harvested and fermented into sacred drink. Some traditions used mead in handfasting's and summer rituals to celebrate love and fertility.
Thunder Moon, for the dramatic summer storms that roll in and clear out the air, energetically and literally.
Hay Moon, from old agricultural calendars that tracked harvests and warned of the hard work ahead.
Blessing Moon, in modern witchy circles, calls in gratitude and abundance.
Energetics & Magic of the Buck Moon
You might find yourself confronting habits you thought were long buried, or feeling restless and unsure why. That’s the Buck Moon tugging at the roots, asking what’s outdated, what’s still clinging on, and what’s ready to grow in its place.
Some magical themes for this moon:
Regrowth after loss or stagnancy
Inner strength, courage, and consistency
Cutting cords with fear or self-doubt
Reclaiming direction
Protection work, especially of your goals, energy, and peace
It’s also a good moon for energy healing and body-focused work.
Ways to Work with the Buck Moon
You don’t need a big ritual, here are some ideas though.
Take a moment to name what you’re growing back. Even if it’s slow.
Light a red or brown candle and whisper your intention into it.
Craft a small antler charm, real or symbolic, as a reminder of your strength returning.
For spellwork: try jar spells for perseverance, cord cuttings for bad habits, or petitions that focus on long-term visions rather than quick wins.
And don’t forget your body. Drink water. Eat food. Take care of your needs.

Hello! Saw your post on Ancestor worship and was wondering. How can I tell if my known ancestor would be okay with me working with them??
Hello and I'm SO sorry for the delay! I totally did not see this in my inbox but that's alright, I'm here to help now! I'm unsure of your circumstances, if you'd like to send another ask about your situation I will not post your details but I'll make an ask post for you. If there's not much to say, here's a general answer:
Now, here’s the thing, if they want to work with you, they’ll make it known. Ancestors aren’t subtle at ALL. You’ll start noticing patterns, dreams where they show up and it feels like more than just memory. Their name pops up out of nowhere, or you smell their perfume, smoke, or cooking randomly. Maybe a certain song they loved keeps playing, or a specific bird or flower they were associated with shows up constantly when you're thinking about them.
You might feel a pull toward them too, emotionally, spiritually, even physically. Sometimes you just know they’re around, especially during moments of grief, change, or decision making.
I always recommend speaking to them directly. Light a candle, bring out something connected to them (a photo, heirloom, even a food offering), and just talk. Ask them “If you want to work with me, send me a clear sign in the next few days.” Keep track of what shows up after that, dreams, feelings, omens, random emotional waves. Journal it (even if it feels weird).
If you do divination, you can also use tarot, pendulum, or runes to ask simple yes/no questions. Something like, “Do you want to support me in my practice?” or “Would working together benefit me right now?”
But keep in mind. Not all ancestors are meant to be part of your spiritual path. Some need healing first. Some are just…watching from a distance and if they were shitty people in life, you’re not obligated to invite them in just because they share DNA. Boundaries still matter. You get to choose who you open that door to.
And if nothing shows up? That’s okay too. Sometimes it’s not time yet. Sometimes your unknown or deeper line ancestors come forward first. Trust the process, it’s honestly a long game.

Just a little PSA for all our mental health (and chronic pain*) spoonies out there! A lot of doctors neglect to mention this little side effect, which means a lot of us are suffering extra from the heat without knowing why.
*Many psych meds are used to treat chronic pain as well, if you didn’t know!

Experiencing the Summer Solstice with a Chronic Illness

The Summer Solstice is coming up, this June 20th, 2025 in the Northern Hemisphere. It is often dressed up in bold, fiery energy, long days, celebration, radiance, power. It’s the peak of the sun, after all. But for those of us living with ME/CFS, fibromyalgia, or other chronic conditions, that kind of intensity doesn’t always feel accessible. And honestly? It doesn’t have to be.
This year, I’m approaching Litha differently. Not with big rituals or sunrise hikes, but with more of a quiet reflection. Magic should be accessible for everyone.
Instead of seeing the Summer Solstice as something I need to force in a way, all bright and busy, I’m seeing it as an invitation to pause. The sun has reached its peak. This is a still point before the slow descent into the darker half of the year. Maybe that’s something we can mirror.
Gentle Ways I'm Celebrating
Here are a few ways I’m honouring Litha this year.
Solar Oil – I'm setting out a jar of solar and healing herbs in oil, its a slow infusion method for ritual oils. It’s a passive spell in my opinion, one I can use to fuel me on later dates within my life and spellwork.
Seasonal Altar Shift – I refreshed my altar with golden tones, dried calendula, and a little bundle of rosemary. Sometimes a space refresh can make all the difference.
Reflection & Journaling – I ask: What’s flourishing right now? What do I want to gently release as we shift into the waning year? Some days I write. Some days I just pause and mentally reflect, my energy comes and goes. I manage what I can.
A Nap with the Window and Blinds Open – Letting myself fall asleep in a sunbeam like a cat feels like the most Solstice thing I can do (be weary of direct sunlight, you never want a burn). My body knows what it needs. Letting it rest and heal is it's own kind of magic, really.
Ultra-Low-Energy Solstice Magic
On the days when you can’t get out of bed, here’s your reminder: you are still a practitioner. You are still honoring the turning of the year, just by existing through it.
Window Witchcraft – Open the curtains. Let the sun hit your face for a moment. You don’t have to do anything else.
Mental Offerings – In your mind, send gratitude to the sun or your deities if you wish. No words need to be spoken. No tools needed. Just a thought: “Thank you for your warmth.”
Digital Devotions – Scroll through sunlit nature photos or your favorite sun-themed tarot card.
Solar Playlist – Put on a playlist with summery, golden, or warm energy. Even if it just plays quietly in the background while you rest.
The Magic of Breathing – Sometimes remembering to breathe and just be is something we forget, being present is vital for our health and wellbeing. Try some box breathing and see how you feel.
A Reminder to My Fellow Spoonie Practitioners
Your Solstice doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. If all you do is open your window and breathe in a little warmth, that’s enough. If you forget it’s the Solstice entirely and only remember a week later, that’s also enough. The Wheel turns. It doesn’t need us to prove anything.
I hope you have a Solstice filled with softness, rest, and the kind of magic that meets you exactly where you are.
Wishing you good health and blessings,
- Juniper

PNW and General Ecology Resources
Xerces Society - Maritime Northwest Pollinator Plants -This non-profit is responsible for invertebrate conservation for all of North America. Every single invertebrate they gets conserved in North America is in large part thanks to this organization. Support them monthly if you can!
Burke Herbarium Burke is the natural history museum based out of Seattle. This site is the most comprehensive image collection of plants in the PNW, and represents the most up to date count of all native plants observed by science here so far. Also has an identification key, great way to learn. Washington Native Plant Society This organization is a social one. Not only can you join their public events like plant walks, classes, and plant sales...you can become a member to support all the ways they advocate for legal protections and inclusion of native plants in city landscapes. They have different chapters for different regions.
Northwest Meadowscapes - How to Plant a Meadow This company is one of the most reliable ways to purchase native wildflower seeds for the PNW. MANY online 'native seed mixes' include invasive species! This company never does that so you can trust them.
King County Native Plants - Western Wa Native Plant Guide This is a county resource that is also useful for maritime northwest yards outside of King County. You can use their plant search function to search for native plants that fit the specific conditions in your planting space.
Native Plant Finder This is a resource for lepidoptera host plant information. If you want to attract the most butterflies and moths, enter your ZIP code to see what genus will support the most species for your area. Not PNW specific!
Pacific Northwest Moths This is a site where you can upload images of moths to get identified by moth nerds. You can also browse all the native moths in your area and get solid information on how to identify them.
Aquatic Plant Identification Guide A PDF going over the most common natives and invasives, how to tell them apart and general information on how to contact the city of Shoreline to learn more.
Pollen Specialist Bees of the United States Looking to figure out what to plant to help the MOST endangered bees? This is the site you're looking for. CTRL+F your states initials to find out what bees are relevant where you are. Dichotomous Key for Washington State Bumblebees This is the tool for you if you want to become an expert on identifying all the bumblebees in your garden. Check Youtube if you need some help understanding how to use a dichotomous key. Native Plant Picks for Bees This PDF features the results from a 3-year long study from Oregon State University on the number of bee species noted to use certain plants. Only 27 plants were studied, but still a great reference point.

hii! I want to get into worship but I struggle with motivation because of anxiety so I feel like connecting/bonding with one god at a time could help but I'm not sure what I can do to really bond with them and feel a connection :( are there things like forms of divination, devoted acts, or ways to just spend time with them that will help me? i absolutely love your account by the way!! <3
Hi lovely! Thank you for your sweet words. I'm very happy to know that my blog helps others! < 3 So, let's start with the basics of connection. Connection can be scary, and knowing where to start is hard! I totally get you. Just know it's okay to take it slow, as they truly understand. I know @heatherwitch has some wonderful devotional acts for some deities on their blog; you can totally start there. You can devote almost anything, from taking your medications to Apollon or Asclepius, or even taking that shower you've been putting off. Self-love can easily go to Aphrodite, Bastet, or Freyja, for example. Sometimes the simplest way to devote things is just your time and energy, they love it when you think about them. For divination, Tarot cards work really well, any form of cards. If you cannot get physical ones, try the app Labyrinthos! It's a tarot app that pulls cards digitally. I've found it quite accurate in what I've pulled, one of my friends only uses that app and is quite scary with how she can read you, haha. Just know the gods are with you, every step of the way. The only tool you really need is you. I hope this helped and if you need anything else, my inbox is always open < 3
