French Style File No.1 - Pierre
French Style File No.1 – Pierre
I recently came across an interesting NYTimes article called My First Year showing how NY transforms freshman college students over the course of a year living in NY. It’s cool to see how a place can change you inside and out, if even in the most subtle of ways.
It got me thinking about my own personal style experiences in new states/ cities/ coasts and countries. And I realize that each time I…

August Highlights
Every year, during the month of August, France essentially shuts down for a vacation month. Major companies close down for weeks and small businesses often close for the whole month. Locals all but evaporate and tourists fill the streets. Before moving to Paris I had heard many things about this time of year, and as August neared many people asked me “Où allez-vous pour les vacances?” – [Where…

Along the Canals of Amsterdam
Along the Canals of Amsterdam
I must admit I’ve been slacking in the blogging department as of late. I’ve started wedding planning this past week and it’s completely consumed my time! It feels nice to take a break and just write :)

This beautiful village is tucked away on the side of a mountain. The drive up to the city made me a little nauseous because of all the twists and turns along the way, but I must say… it was MORE than worth it. Bormes-les-mimosas gets it’s name from the mimosa flower which blankets the city around the beginning of the year. Even though the flowers weren’t in bloom, the village charmed its way…

Vacances: South of France: French foodie
Vacances: South of France: French foodie
We’re back in rainy Paris after a two week vacations to the south of france and amsterdam. I welcome the rain, as it gives me an excuse to stay in bed, listen to jazz, take my time waking up and coffee myself. Often when I return home from vacation, I see my home/ city in a new way. This is the first time I returned to Paris and felt as if I were coming home.
Our trip to the south was great!…

the daily french: se détendre / relax
pronounced: [seh deh-tahn-dR]
Thought I’d throw in a reflexive verb today. I’ll be spending this week in the south of france with Pierre’s family, where I’ll be doing a whole lot of relaxing.
