Wild ladies night out from Helens House of Hope. I went out with two of my favourites: Faith (with wonderful brown eyes) and Scruffy (one eyed lady that loves cuddling). We stopped by at a neighbours garden, passed by a horse, a sheep/goats herd and saw Sunflowers actually turning away from the sun. Some of us where rolling in shit while others where eating Mulberries. And there were a fast escalating fight that ended with blood and the wild ladies night out. Helping out at Helens House of Hope. A dog rescue and re-homing sanctuary in north-western Bulgaria, near the town of Vratsa. The photo is of Bowie, one of the dogs that came to the shelter while I was there and that I got to name. My first association when I saw her eyes was David Bowie. One day we heard terrible screaming from the village. It turned out that a man sadly had died from electricity while doing renovation at home. A few days later someone told Helen that villagers blamed the dog for what had happened because it howls and wants to kill it. Poisoning dogs has occurred there before and some children wanted to save the dog and brought it to Helen's House of Hope. Bowie was, unlike most other dogs, in fairly good shape and is very freedom loving. She has tried to escape several time already. It's very sad that she has to be locked inside because of village superstition and I really hope that someone would like to adopt Bowie soon. Helping out at Helens House of Hope. A dog rescue and re-homing sanctuary in north-western Bulgaria, near the town of Vratsa. The dog sanctuary was started by and is basically run by one women from UK - Helen James. She moved to one of the poorest regions in the European Union about two years ago and is now responsible for about 70 dogs! And a retired police horse named Democratzia! Helen’s House of Hope also works with the community to help local people improve living standards for their own dogs. A group of volunteers – all of them local school children – take the dogs out for daily walks and learn about the proper treatment and care of the animals in return. Vegomässan - A vegan fest in Stockholm arranged by @djurrattsalliansen. The day was full of trying new stuff, buying old favourites cheaper, meeting other animal rights activists and organisations as well as listening to lectures. Best of all, to be in majority for one day. No need to ask if a product is vegan - of course it is! Gene Baur is a cofounder of the nonprofit organisation Farm Sanctuary, that operates the largest rescue and refuge network for farm animals in North America. Lingering signs of the 1969-1971 "Indians of All Tribes" occupation of Alcatraz. Indian rights and unity was a key focus of the occupants and they wanted to establish an American Indian centre on the island, after the state penitentiary had been closed down six years earlier. The occupation lasted for 18 months and is supposedly considered a milestone in Native American history. A re-awakening of culture, traditions, identity and spirituality. Each year natives of all tribes return on Columbus Day and Thanksgiving to commemorate the occupation.
