I am continuing with my Middle Earth and Disney crossover (swipe 👉 to see the original image I used as a reference). This time I decided to work on a character people meet in Lord of the Rings movies and books, who is also Boromir’s father, Denethor II (played by the actor John Noble). I thought the character Frollo, is the villain from Disney Classic The Hunchback of Notre Dame, would fit very well as Denethor II.
⚫ Both of the characters (Frollo and Denethor) are in powerful positions and don’t use their power “for the greater good”.
⚫ Frollo and Denethor care about themselves and their own “winning/gain” rather than what would be best for the world they live in.
⚫ The characters have a determining personality and other similar personality traits.
For instance, Frollo grew an obsession over finding Esmeralda that reminds me a lot of witch-hunting in Europe (that was in the middle ages until the 1800th century). Frollo found Esmeralda and tried to kill her by burning her.
Denethor got very upset and sad when he got the information that his youngest son “died” (the youngest son was very hurt and still alive). He tried to burn his living son (Faramir) and himself, but the son got away.

This is a self-study of Leta Lestrange (who plays by @zoeisabellakravitz) from The Fantastic Beasts and where to find them (official IG is @fantasticbeastsmovie).
❓Which fantastic beast character do you like? I liked Leta and Grindelwald. Because I find the characters very interesting.
⚫ The “movie-series” takes place before the events of Harry Potter and after World War 1. Most of the time the movie, The crimes of Grindelwald, takes place in Paris. In the movie you'll get to know more about Leta who Newt had romantic feelings for during his time in Hogwarts.

Self-study with “John Howe’s art style” (below the reference image), the picture is from the musical version of The Phantom of the Opera (official IG is @phantomopera). The image comes from the Instagram user @Vicomtechagny who shares their edited images from the musical version and is very into the Phantom of the Opera (the user is very passionate in my opinion). Vicomtechagny also shares their opinions and thoughts of different parts of POTO (slang for Phantom of the Opera).
The characters in the reference are Christine Daaé (she is played by Sierra Boggess and her IG is @officialsierraboggess ) and the Phantom (played by Ramin Karimloo and his IG is @raminkarimloo).
🎭 POTO story takes place in 1900th century France. When the story starts there is information that it has been accidents that led to people have gotten hurt or killed due to the mysterious Opera Ghost. This Opera Ghost has trained Christine to sing very well and later in the story you’ll get to know that the Opera Ghost has developed feelings for her. Even though Christine has romantic feelings for her childhood sweetheart who is a young man called Raoul.
🎨 If you are unfamiliar with John Howe he is an artist/illustrator who is mostly known for paintings and concept artwork from professor J.R.R. Tolkien’s world; Middle Earth. He was part of the design group during the Lord of the Rings movies and The Hobbit trilogy.
✏️ I’ve been working on this artwork on and off since 3rd mars. I haven’t counted on how many hours I spent on the artwork. During the process, I noticed that I could use my older drawing technique I used when I drew on an ordinary pencil. Which was a nice surprise.

This is another self-study of Miss Anne Lister from the Tv-show Gentleman Jack. I liked the picture I screenshotted from the one fan site on Instagram (the user’s IG is @gentlemanjackedits). On the left side, are images drawn by John Howe.
For those who are unfamiliar with John Howe he is an artist/illustrator who is mostly known for paintings and concept artwork from professor J.R.R. Tolkien’s world; Middle Earth. He was part of the design group during the Lord of the Rings movies and The Hobbit trilogy.
I recently read the book “A Middle-Earth Traveller” by John Howe. I got very inspired by his way of sketching and I wanted to give it a try. I found the sketching style very comfortable and “cozy” to draw.
I got so pleased with the process in this art style that I forgot to track the exact time when I finished it. 😂 But I believe that I finished the artwork in under 2 hours.

This is another self study that I've been doing on and off. I believe this took over 90 intense minutes to finish to finish the painting. On this piece I wanted to challenge myself by putting color on it.
My inspirational source of the color style is from the picture from the left. I do not, unfortunately, know who is the artist that created the artwork. But I think the black and white version of the painting is from 1888 when Jack the ripper terrorised London. I am unsure the exact date when that painting got colored.
What do you think of the final result? 👀🤔

My "current mode" that I've felt on the inside this week (due to intense studies of a school subject that I am not good at). What are you going to do this weekend?
On this piece I wanted to focus on Iago. That's why there are limited details on Jafar.

This is a tribute for the actor who played the main character in Marvel’s Black Panther. My thoughts went to the actor's family when I got the news that he passed away. It is very unfortunate to lose a very professional actor that still had much to give to the world. I hope the actor had a peaceful ending as most people should have when they leave this world.
Unfortunately I couldn’t finish this piece earlier since I’ve been busy in real life (job and studies). The thought I had when I created this picture was that the actor joined the “other world” as you see in the Black Panther’s movie.

A digital self study of Jafar from Aladdin. I drew this on iPad pro and sketchbook (autodesk). I am not used to the program and draw on iPad yet. But it was fun to test around. 😊 Have you used any of the Apple products to draw/paint?

Self study - The Phantom

This is an another self study made in watercolor. That I became very proud of. I painted this last weekend during at a paint course. Although I didn't get to uploaded until today.
This particular study of the Phantom (from the Phantom of the Opera Broadway version, very well played by @RaminKarimloo). It was a great challenge. I had to paint a character that use a mask half of its face. Which is something I am not used to draw. The same goes for the color palette too since the lighting and the dark tones come in different way as you can see in the picture.
Have you ever painted any of the characters from the Phantom of the opera? 🎭

This is a self study of Jafar's color palette as the sultan (as you see in the picture down below). I am very proud of the end result of this artwork. I painted this picture in watercolor because I thought it would be more challenging. Since I need to mix colors together to get the perfect color.
I thought at first this piece would be easy to paint, but when it came to coloring Jafar's sultan clothing I realised it wouldn't be that easy (I could feel how my pulse started to get high from painting this piece).
Because his clothes has to "pop up" from the purple dominated background. I couldn't use purple to his clothes because it would be too dark and I was scared the color could make Jafar's clothes would blend in with the background. I couldn't either use black as shadow on his clothes because it would be "too much" and even too dark for the clothes.
I was very fortunate to ask my course teacher at traditional painting on how I should tackle with Jafar's clothes (even the teacher saw the complicated part of choosing the right colors). It ended well with the colors on the clothes.
It took me over 6 intense hours to finish the painting.
Have you ever chosen a particular picture because of its color palette? How did the process go for you? 😀

I decided to try to continue my Middle Earth and Disney crossover series that I started few years ago. I manage to finish Elsa as Galadriel today and that made me feel very proud and happy. Which character do you think I will upload next? 🤔😆
You can see the picture below which reference photo I used.
Unfortunately I forgot to count how many intense hours I put on this piece. 😞 Reasons that I think Elsa fit as Galadriel: * They are both have blonde hair, * Magical powers, * Independent, * good characters.

This is for a contest. Moana & Maui from Moana (Disney).
I have not watched the movie, yet. However I thought my idea takes place after Moana and Maui manage to flee from “Kako Mora”. Later on they talk and have an agreement about share the boat (or anything else practical).
Time: 5 + hours

This is for a contest.
Moana, Maui and the lava monster from Disney’s Moana.
I have not watched the movie, yet. But I thought this scene takes place when Moana and Maui meet the lava monster. Maui fights, Moana fall in the water and Maui notice it. He transforms into his bird form, saces ger and they both talk about the best way to defeat the lava monster. At the same time, the lava monster tries to hit them both.
Time: 3 hours.
