"why do you write?" because it’s the only way to silence the characters pacing around my brain like victorian ghosts with unresolved issues that prevent them from moving on.

Currently Reading! 🔥
After an extremely slow start to my reading year, I'm finally finding the energy to focus again. Maybe I'll actually finish the book I've been reading since January this month. 😅 But either way, decided I needed something short to motivate me. And here we are.
I've been enjoying Mario Kart World for the past week. And working on finishing up Persona 3 Reload. And doing lots of Sims stuff. And even the slightest, tiniest bit of writing. So, yeah. Have to use the energy when I have it, because it's so rare anymore. (Granted, I've also been staying up too late and taking lots of naps, but... hey, whatever works. Right? 😂)

I survived another birthday. And actually it was a pretty good one! 🙂 Though it still brought the usual sad introspection in its wake. I wish I could tell you that I was more excited and hopeful for the future, but I am scared. Still, there are good moments and little fun things that get us by. That's what monthly favorites are all about.
Palia: My favorite MMO is back with its biggest update by far, and it's beautiful! Purple glowy plants and mushrooms. Lots of opportunities to float around. I'm so happy to have new things to do in this game for the first time in a while. I've reconnected with my lovely community members. And it's even nice to read a bit of new dialogue from the characters.
Gossip Girl: Current "guilty pleasure" TV show. What can I say? I'm kind of loving Dan and Blair's friendship in this season enough to excuse the parts of the show I'm not enjoying as much. Nice to just relax and watch an episode or two.
King of Queens: My Mom and I have been rewatching this show for the third (fourth?) full time. I read a post about rewatching favorite shows and movies being good for your mental health, and I'll tell you, it's been so nice.
Polymerger: I don't often play mobile games these days, but this simple little game has been helping me to spend less time doom-scrolling. So, I call that a win!
Sims: Yes, Sims 2 continues to be a high point in my life. And where a good deal of my limited creative capacity has been focused.
YouTube Favs: Li Speaks, FlurryMoon, Belladovah, The Jeff Gerstmann Show.
Music Favs: TAYLOR SWIFT NOW OWNS ALL OF HER MUSIC!!! Dirty Churches (Meg Washington), "Slut!" (Taylor's Version), Empty Words (Lunik).

April was sooo busy. Lots of appointments to catch up on. And I am exhausted. Actually, exhausted has become my natural state, and I hate it. Health issues are getting worse again. And depression has been high, making it hard to stay motivated and interested in much. But here are some favorites that stood out.
The Sims 2: I've been excited to play this almost every day, and in a time where it's hard to get excited about much, I'm very grateful. I've been posting to the Simblr, if you're interested in seeing what's been going on with my pixel people.
St. Denis Medical: My Mom got me into this show recently. It is exceptionally goofy, but I love it. It's been a while since the cast of a comedy show pulled me in this quickly. We've also been rewatching King of Queens, which is one of our favorites, so there's been a lot of laughter going on at night lately. Something very much needed.
New Phone: I have a new phone for the first time in five-ish years. A Samsung Galaxy S25. I don't want to sound like an ad, so I won't try to sell you on it. 😂 But it's very nice. Also getting a mag-safe case with grip ring is a game-changer.
Music Favs: A Pill to Crush (Evalyn), 23 & Kill (Jimmy Eat World), The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived (Taylor Swift), Dew (Ex Makina), Bloom (CLAVVS), Fearless (Colbie Caillat).

Months go by. The future is scary. Here are some favorites.
Persona 3 Reload: I'm getting to the end of this game, and I'm already sad about it. I have so many other games I want to play. But few games pull me in this deeply these days. I love these characters, and I will miss them.
1000xRESIST: This game tells an interesting and unique dystopian story. And I feel like I say this all the time, but I don't want to give too much away. There are clones. It's sci-fi. Sort of psychological. More story-based than gameplay heavy. I really enjoyed it.
It's What's Inside: Speaking of psychological sci-fi, this movie is a dark comedy on Netflix. The first time I watched it, I was really unsure about it. But it pulled me in and surprised me along the way. And I watched it for a second time recently because my bestie watched it. The characters are all various levels of unlikable. But it was an interesting study of the mind. And the actors did a great job.
Serial Experiments Lain: Finished this strange anime series, and then watched a fantasic video (The Mysterious Serial Experiments Lain PS1 Game by Dungeon Chill) on the whole connected universe.
Saint Tail: And for something lighter, I started rewatching my very first anime. It's been making me emotionally nostalgic. Saint Tail is relatively unknown compared to its contemporary magic girl series, but it was such an important show for me.
Ant-Man & the Wasp: What can I say? Another fantastic and fun Marvel movie.
Music Favs: Animals (Coldplay), Die with a Smile (Bruno Mars & Lady Gaga), Young God (Halsey), Gone (Kina Grannis), Duvet (bôa), I Know Places (Taylor's Version), Hands of Time (Rachel Diggs).

the first rule of writing is that there are no rules. the second rule is to save your work every 5 minutes because technology is a fickle god.

This month has had me once again searching for an escape, mostly through games.
Sims 2: I have been loving Sims 2. To a huge degree. I've been downloading, decorating, characterizing, and planning out storylines. I am diving into the world I am creating there because the world around me is feeling so hopeless. My pixel people keep me invested in something. For which, I am grateful.
Stardew Valley: Again, Stardew feels like an escape from our world into someplace more idyllic. I've been enjoying this game with a friend, which also makes it uniquely fun. I understand now the mass appeal of this game.
Undertale: Another game that I now understand the hype for. While I had a few moments of frustration here or there, I would recommend playing this one yourself, rather than watching a playthrough. It's an amazing experience.
Finch App: I kept hearing about this cute little app, so I decided to give it a try. You hatch and take care of a little birb by completing small self-care tasks. These tasks are customizable, and can be as simple as "get out of bed". Which can honestly be a struggle for me some days.
Serial Experiments Lain: This show is... very strange. But I tend to like weird, psychological stories. I'm not sure where this show is going, or if I'll even understand it by the end. But it's been an interesting ride so far. And it is super making me want to rewatch Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.
Music Favs: The World Still Turns (Kylie Minogue), Too Far In (Lindsay Latimer), Drive Him Home (Anna Nalick), For You (Demi Lovato), Deja Vu (Olivia Rodrigo), Wildest Dreams (Taylor's Version), Run Away with Me (Carly Rae Jepsen).
