Gotta remember though that Toph STARTED the police force. Like, if they'd made her some random beat cop or just that she joined, I'd be like wtf... but she started the very first actual police force in the four nations. Before that, there were protectors (i.e. kioshi warriors) and enforcers (e.g. fire nation soldiers). So, when republic city was started, Toph started a team of metalbenders who were organized in order to protect the peace of the city, and keep everything running well without abuse or corruption and called it "the police force". Plus, I think it's very toph of her to go "I'm gonna become the muscle of this place, hell yea, gonna be in charge of beating up the bad guys and guess what I AM the law, so the law can't TOUCH ME, gonna protect the little people mfssssss"... but, then she left when it turned into smth was corrupted in comparison to what she started. I think it was quite Toph of her, specifically how they went about it, any other way I'd agree
Reblog if you also think Toph shouldn’t have been a cop.
I want to see how “unpopular” this opinion really is outside cop-worshipping Reddit.

"If you think I'm gonna let you judge me for holding his hand, while you sit there holding hers, you're wrong," Katara said, glaring at Zuko. Why he thought he had the right to drag her outside in the middle of the party, to judge her relationship with Aang, she didn't know. "The solstice is a time for growth and celebration, Zuko. Tonight was important to me, and you knew it. So, you don't get to make me cry tonight. You don’t get to tell me that Aang can't make me happy." Zuko ran a shaky hand through his hair as he looked up to the moon, sucking in a breath. A little help here, Yue?
"I know he can make you happy, Kat. I know it, and Agni, it hurts like hell that he can. But I also know how easily you fall in love. I know he's going away in a few months. I know how easily and how hard your heart breaks, and if I have to see you that broken again... I don't know if I'll survive it."
"No, Zuko," Katara countered, steady as a glacier. "You know how easily I fall in love with you. You know how easily you broke my heart, how hard you broke me. Ending things between us and telling you to stay with Mai may have been the worst mistake of my life; but that mistake was made a year ago, now. So don’t you dare use what you did to me as an excuse." She turned away, only for Zuko to pull her back to him. Only, now, they were closer than before. Katara's legs flush against Zuko's. Her hands in fists against his chest. His hands warm around hers.
"Seriously, Katara?" he snarled. "What in spirits' name would I need an excuse for? Are you saying a man needs an excuse to tell his best friend he's concerned for her?" Katara scoffed.
"No, don't use it as an excuse to be selfish. Don't use it as an excuse to love me, to pine for me, to make me miserable, to try to work out whatever unresolved feelings you still have for me." Katara looked down, willing her tears not to fall. "I've never loved anyone as hard as I love you, Zuko. I don't think I ever will, but-"
"Love?" Zuko muttered, his voice gone soft. She looked up at him defiantly.
"Loved," she snapped. "As hard as I loved you. But that doesn't mean I'm not allowed to be happy, not allowed to try to love someone else as hard as I can. You broke me, Zuko," she whispered to his chest. "You're the one who left me scattered on the floor like shattered glass. So, you don't get to be the one to try to put me back together. Not tonight."
"Please, Kat..." His whisper was so soft it was barely audible. But she could hear it. She'd been pulled in close enough that she could hear it as clearly as waves upon the shore. His forehead pressed against hers, and he brushed a hand across her face.
"Don't do this to me, Zuko. Not again. I don't deserve this again." Her voice wavered.
"Never again, Katara." Zuko pressed his lips against her forehead, his hands tangling in her hair. He did it like it was a promise. A promise she knew all too well, one she'd heard before. "I promise to you, with my whole spirit painted blue."
Katara pulled away, so suddenly that it left Zuko frozen, aching for her touch.
"And yet you just did."
"Katara, I swear to you, I'll talk to Mai-"
"There are people waiting for us, Zuko. My boyfriend is inside, waiting for us to come back. Your fiancée," she added pointedly, "is inside, waiting for us to come back. We have guests to attend to."
Katara turned around and, without so much as a second glance, walked back into the party.
Yet Zuko stood there, unable to move. He stood there as, for the first time in years, a warm drop of water ran down his face.
He laughed softly as he watched the tear fall silently into the dirt.
Katara had always promised that she would help him learn to cry again.
