THE OFFICIAL ‘JOURNEY JUNE’ EXPANDED PROMPT LIST
REBLOG.SHARE.ENJOY!
REMEMBER. This challenge is about QUANTITY OVER QUALITY! We would rather you finish it at a lower quality than have a couple days fully rendered. It’s more important that you get the story out. You can always go back and fix things later. This is meant to be PRACTICE! So don’t get stressed out or overwhelmed. Most importantly HAVE FUN! Duh. 😋 Also, to be able to make your story work right, you’ll need to read through all of the prompts first. There are some that deal with other ones and placing things earlier that will reappear later. It’s also smart to have your Hero designed by the time June starts. Make sure you like them and can draw them easily. Stick to simpler designs on this one, you’ll be drawing them a lot! Ideally use a completely new character/world. Don’t use something pre-existing as you’ll feel too much hesitation with throwing them into certain things or feel like this story you make then becomes part of theirs. Not necessary. Remember, this is practice and we want you to treat is as disposable. It’s the experience and the journey that will stick with you. If at the end of the challenge (we give you until the first week of July to complete all 30) you finish your journey, you can get a FREE CLASS from Cloverkin & Galvosaur on how to make a book! Because you earned it! So there is a prize at the end if you can defeat the boss and get back home! :) If you’d like a set time during the day to do your Journey June, swing by our Twitch channels and draw with us! We’ll have a giant art jam! Galvosaur streams: Mon @ 9PM CST | Wed @ 4PM CST | Sat @ 4PM CST Galvosaur’s Twitch Cloverkin streams: Tues @ 9PM CST | Thur @4PM CST | Sun @ 4PM CST Cloverkin’s Twitch Find Journey June on IG|TWITTER|FB as @JourneyThruJune Message us on IG if you have questions! ____________________________________________________________

What is their job? Where are they?
Focus on who they are and what they do
2. Call to Adventure - Our Hero is met with the opportunity for a quest
Has someone approached them? Did they find an item? Did something in their environment change? Think: “What could possibly go wrong?”
Focus on a reason they’d be pulled out of their life.
3. Answering the Call - Show the Hero’s answer to the call.
Do they refuse or accept the call? Do they want to go or not really?
Focus on their personality. What does their decision say about them.
4. Answer’s Aftermath - Their previous choice revealing their intentions
If they refused - What ends up convincing/forcing them to go? If they accepted - Further prep to leave
Focus on the situation and how it impacts their current lifestyle
5. Journey Begins - (Crossing the Threshold) Gearing up and heading out
What does the road look like ahead? How are they leaving? Are people there? Do they care?
Focus on saying goodbye/departing in their own way
6. First Obstacle - “Tiny Test” The Hero encounters their first hurdle.
Is is a creature? Is it a structure? Is it a person? Is it environmental?

8. Sticky Situation - The Hero comes upon a viscous problem.
Is it physically sticky? Or just a tough situation? Is it the environment? A creature? Is it our Hero that’s in it or someone else?
Focus on vulnerability. Someone has gotten into something they can’t easily get themselves out of. Whether it’s the Hero or someone new.
9. Suitable Savior - A NEW CHARACTER IS ADDED!
Were they the one saving or being saved?
Focus on how the characters conclude the Sticky Situation

11. Second Obstacle - “Peculiar Puzzle” - A mental challenge for our new crew
Is it architectural? Is it a riddle? Is it on paper? Is it a device?
Focus on how the characters solve it. Are they dumb/physical? Smart/calculated? Or just lucky?
12. Magic Mentor - The group finds a character or entity with magical/special abilities.
Was it after/during the puzzle? How do they react to it? Does it help them?
Focus on the introduction and what it means for the characters. Does the mentor stick around?

How are they handling it? Freaking out? Crying? Solitude? Comfort food?
Focus on how a character would react when they don’t know where to go next.
15. Stumbling upon Shelter - They find shelter
How did they find it? Where is it? What is it? Inn/creature/cave/spaceship/house
Focus on the mood of the shelter & their feelings about it. Happy/scared/weary?
16. Babbling Bard - The group finds something that gives them directions
Is it a person? A map? A holographic guide? A stone? Cereal box?
Focus on the form that the map takes for their specific journey.
17. Gaining New Ground - A scene of the crew traveling
What are they using? Mounts? Machines? Flying? Teleporting?
Focus on how they get to their next stop
18. Distracted & Delayed - Just as they’re finding their way, they’re interrupted.
By what/who? Memories? Lust? Intoxication/drugged? Doubt in their quest?
Focus on the Hero getting detoured from the quest
19. Third Obstacle - “Hideous Horror” An unsavory trial challenges our group
What is it? A creature? Structure? Machine? Environmental element?
Focus on the group being disgusted and afraid. This isn’t an easy fight.
20. Weak & Wounded - A scene of our group in bad shape after the previous fight.
Where are they? What do they look like? Is someone dead? Did they win/lose?
Focus on the disparity of the battle’s aftermath.
21. Rare Item - Despite a hard battle, they come upon something special
Is it technology? Can they use it? Is it aesthetic? Does it heal them?
Focus on their rebound from being disparaged to being hopeful.
22. Merchant’s Stock - They come upon someone/something selling wares.
Do they sell the item? Is it physical/digital? Do they trade? What does it look like?
Focus on them upgrading their situation.
23. Geared Up - Show our group with newfound hope and renewed faith.
How do they look? New gear? New ship? New tech? New bowtie? New potion?
Focus on their confidence and how the scene is composed.
24. Dungeon Descent - Our heroes begin the final approach into the villain’s domain.
Where are they? What sort of things are there? Is it space? Is it a cave?
Focus on the surroundings/environment. Where they are within it. Staging and scale is important here.
25. Fourth Obstacle - “Stolen Souls” The villain’s acquired lackies descend on the party.
What are they? Are they ghosts? Insects? Aliens? Robots?
Focus on multitude. This obstacle is focused on many of something.
26. Facing Fate - Our party spots the final obstacle from afar.
What does it look like? Is it a person, place, thing, or idea?
Focus on how the group reacts to seeing the boss. Scale can also play a big part here as well.
27. Fifth Obstacle - “Boss Battle” A scene of the group confronting their main trial.
What feeling is the boss displaying toward them? Is this an easy/difficult battle?
Focus on a dynamic scene. Camera angle is important here.
28. Final Blow - Someone deals the final blow to the boss.
Is it mental? Verbal? Physical? Does the boss die? Who does it?
Focus on bringing the story full circle. Try to reuse an already established story element that would make sense in the situation.
