Hey pretty people!
I've been kind of in a stump regarding my writing, and I can't wait to get back to it!
I hope you are all well, and listening to the new Ateez songs, enjoying your summer days!
My 'Ateez as Supernatural Tropes' masterlist yearns to be updated, but my head is just not in the right space. Work has been a lot, life as well, but I'm getting the urge to write something interesting again.
So, thank you for listening to my rant, and have a happy rest of your week, as well as the weekend.

It's funny how I am always ready to talk about myself in a positive light :)
What can I say, my mom raised a confident person 👌🏻
1. First and foremost, I love the fact that I am creative. My creativity has brought me so much joy in life, I never want to change it.
2. Second, I am clumsy, but I find it funny and sweet.
3. I have a close knit group of friends. It's not a personality trait, but I think my personality made it possible.
4. I love my confidence. I went through many ups and downs, but my head was held high always.
5. I love the dimple on my left cheek. It's cute, no other explanation needed.
This was fun, so join in people 🩵

The one with the knight in shining armour

Ateez San x Fem Reader
Word count: 1k
Genres and warnings: fluff, slight angst, guard San x princess reader, talk about arranged marriage, forbbiden romance, hopeful ending
Summary: San was always with you, acting as your shadow and protector. However, nothing could protect your hearts from falling for one another - even if it was forbidden.
"San, come here."
You patted the spot on the blanket next to you, smiling up at your guard.
"Princess... You are aware I am not allowed near you unless you are in imminent danger."
"Oh, but I am! See! The Sun, it's so bright, I can barely read my book. Your broad shoulders would be a perfect barrier!"
The buff guard only huffed a laugh, used to your antics by now. Spending the last six months next to you, trailing behind your form like a shadow, granted him the opportunity to get to know the beautiful princess every kingdom spoke about.
"Is that so? We must protect the princess, in that case."
San took a few steps towards you, now standing by the edge of the blanket. Your frown told him you weren't exactly happy yet.
"That is too far away! Sit here, I hate it when you stand over my head like I am a child."
Your delicate palm reached out as if to take his hand, but you suddenly remembered something and both of your expressions turned sour.
San was your guard, however, it was absolutely forbidden for him to touch you unless you were in life threatening circumstances.
What he didn't know was that you were absolutely dying to take him by the hand and finally feel his soft skin against yours. He probably never will because you were betrothed to prince Yeosang from your neighborhood kingdom.
The fact that you were promised to another man hurt him in more ways than you could imagine, but San was aware that his feelings could never be said out in the open.
"My princess... If that's what you wish. Make some room for me, please."
You gathered your scattered books, watching as San made himself comfortable. He was so close, yet so far away from you, it hurt your heart.
"Is that a new dress, princess Y/N?"
Glancing down at the fabric spread around you, your cheeks turned as pink as your corset.
"Well, yes. My seamstress surprised me yesterday. She said it was a gift, but she wouldn't tell me from who. It was probably Yeosang, although I wonder how he knew my favourite colour."
San chuckled, observing how the silk sleeves fell over your small hands.
"I don't think it's that difficult to guess. Every item you own is in some shade of pink. Even your cat wears a pink bell around his neck."
Both of you let out a laugh when something dawned on you.
"Hmm... I wonder where he could be? I haven't seen Samuel since last night."
As if on cue, your chubby white cat jumped from the apple tree a few feet away from you. You sprang up, startling San.
"Samuel! You troublemaker! Where have you been?"
Picking up your skirt, you jumped over San's legs and took off after the white feline.
"Princess! Slow down!"
San went after you, trying to catch up to the cloud of pink running through the royal gardens.
That's when it happened.
You let go of your skirt, your heel catching in the fabric. You were certain you'd eat grass, but a pair of strong hands pulling you against a sturdy chest stopped that.
"Woah, my princess. That could have gone really bad."
"San..."
Silence overcame both of you. His hands were still around your waist, now tightened slightly. Your own were placed over his, finally feeling his warmth after longing for it too long.
No words were exchanged in the next minute, the two of you enjoying the light embrace without locking into each other's eyes. Your head fell back against his shoulder, and that's when San snapped out of his trance.
He let go of you like it burned him, back pin straight, and when you finally turned around you could see the panic in his eyes, despite the solder like stance.
"Sannie... It's okay. You saved me from a rough fall. Everything is according to the rules."
"I think we both know it was more than that, princess."
His gaze was downturned, the words hanging out in the open. San was giving you a chance, a once in a lifetime opportunity, to finally be out in the open about your feelings.
Even if it was just once.
Even if it wouldn't change your predicament.
Even if it couldn't be anything more after that.
"San... My Sannie... You know how you always say 'My princess'? You're my San as well. You'll always be."
Looking around you, you made sure there wasn't anyone else in the garden before making your next move.
In a flash, your arms were wrapped around San's shoulders, squeezing him as if he would disappear in a moment. He stiffened for a second before his own feelings took over. San embraced you as if you were made out of the most delicate material in the world.
You slowly placed your palms on his cheeks, making him look into your glistening eyes.
"Sannie... Kiss me, please. This is an order from the princess."
He smiled, leaning his forehead against yours.
"Who am I to disobey an order?"
His plush lips were on yours before you could respond. The kiss was light, but you felt like your legs would give out any second.
You parted, not being able to look anywhere but into each other's eyes.
"I am... Glad you like the dress."
Your brows lifted in shock.
"San... You... It's..."
He only nodded, a light blush painting his cheeks.
"Oh San... What am I going to do now?"
The reality of the situation dawned on him, and he quickly let go of you.
"You will do as duty tells you. This was... A misjudgement on my part. I let my feelings overtake me, and I forgot my place. I apologize, my princess."
"Please don't speak like that after you've kissed me like you love me."
He stayed silent, only observing the race of the woman he adored beyond measure. It was now or never.
"I do. I do love you."
"And I love you."
"What are we goi-"
"Honey! Prince Yeosang has arrived! Come greet him!"
Your mother's voice interrupted San's question, but you knew what he was going to ask. In truth, you wouldn't be able to give him an answer, but God so help you if you weren't going to try.
Eyes meeting again, San nodded, letting you know that the conversation was far from over.
You'd find a way.
You always did.

The one with the vampire royals and their doll Final
Series masterlist
Ateez Seonghwa x Hongjoong x reader
Genres and warnings: vampire Matz x human reader, poly relationship, fluff, like so much fluff, happy ending
Word count: 1.1k
Hongjoong and Seonghwa have an important question for you. Well, two to be exact.
"Can I ask you something, my doll?"
You glanced over your shoulder at Hongjoong, standing by the counter of his and Seonghwa's kitchen. You were currently in the middle of baking a batch of brownies, per Wooyoung's request. The little witch has been begging you to make them for a week, so you finally took the time to do it.
"Sure thing, go ahead."
He stayed silent for a while, and when you turned to look at him again, it kind of seemed like he was... Nervous.
That was an odd thing for Hongjoong, who usually oozed confidence at any time of day.
"Well... Seonghwa and I have been talking."
"Okay?"
"And we... Well..."
Okay, now you were getting worried. It wasn't like him to stutter. You put down the baking tray, leaving the brownies to cool before walking over to him. His eyes were downcast, not budging even when you placed your hand on his chin.
"Joong? What's going on?"
"You know, it feels like we've known you for much longer than it really is. We've been together for, what? Six months now? Yeah, it feels like it's been years."
You chuckled. "That's because we spend every possible moment together. And lately I've been staying here. I don't even remember what my bedroom looks like."
It was supposed to be a joke, but you noticed how he stiffened up. You were about to question him again when you heard the front door opening.
"Hi loves." Seonghwa greeted you, removing his coat before walking over to the kitchen.
"What are you two up-"
Seognhwa stopped speaking when he saw Hongjoong's tense shoulders and your worried expression.
"What's wrong?"
You shook your head, not knowing what to say.
"Hongjoong? My love, is this about..."
His husband only nodded, and Seonghwa sighed. A small smile appeared on his face, and he quickly wrapped his arms around the both of you.
"I think that my silly husband is overthinking again. Why don't we go and sit down on the couch? We'd like to ask you something important."
"Oh..." You nodded, but Hongjoong still hasn't uttered a word. The three of you made your way into the living room, making yourselves comfortable on the big couch. As usual, you were in the middle, with Seonghwa's arm wrapped around you. Hongjoong sat unnaturally still.
"Can you please explain everything to me? I'm starting to get really worried here. Look at him!"
You pointed at your boyfriend, your wide eyes making Seonghwa smile again.
"My love... He's just afraid of rejection. Isn't that right, Joong?"
Hongjoong let out a sigh, leaning against the backrest.
"I'm sorry, I don't know why I'm like this. Y/N, my doll... We love you, and we want to take a big step with you."
"Yeah? What would that be?" You asked, reaching over to place your hand on Hongjoong's.
Seonghwa pulled you closer to him, his lips leaving a few gentle kisses against your temple.
"Darling... Would you like to move in with us?"
You snapped your head back to look at Seonghwa, almost certain you were imagining it.
"What?"
He laughed, crushing you into a hug.
"You heard me! Move in with us, my love. We want you here permanently. We'd also like to discuss something else, but I'll leave that part to my husband."
"Move in? Is that what you were so worried about, Jongie? I think I told you in the kitchen, but I practically live here anyways. Christ, my mail and packages arrive at your house because the delivery service knows by now to find me here!"
For the first time in a while, Hongjoong smiled. He felt like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders. He cleared his throat, moving around to face you properly.
"I take that as a yes then? You'll live here from now on? We can move all of your quirky trinkets tomorrow. I'll build you a shelf!"
The three of you laughed together, now squashed in a group hug.
"Of course I will! And please, my trinkets aren't quirky. Remember, you gifted me most of them!"
"That's true." Seonghwa said, happy to see the two people he loved most smiling.
"Now, what else? I don't think you'd be so beaten up about this? There has to be something bigger in question."
Hongjoong nodded, reaching over to take both of your hands in his.
"You know how we are... Immortal? And you're not? Well..."
The surprise on your face was evident, and now you were a bit nervous as well. You knew it was a conversation long overdue, but you didn't think you'd be talking about it tonight.
"Go on..." You urged him, wanting to settle things.
"We were wondering... If you'd be willing to turn for us? We love you, Y/N. We want you by our side forever. It's okay if you, you know, don't want that. We just need to know."
"Oh Hongjoong..."
Without another word, you threw yourself into his arms, squeezing him tightly around the neck. Seonghwa's hands stayed around your waist, but you pulled him up to come closer.
"You boys... Silly, silly boys... I love you two, I've made it clear. I want to be with you, for however long you want me. If that's for eternity, well then... Who am I to complain? I just don't think tonight's the night, okay?"
"Oh, no, no! We weren't planning on doing it tonight. You know us, it has to be big and romantic! We just wanted to know where you stand with all of this." Seonghwa said, reaching over to pinch Hongjoong on the cheek.
"You see, you big baby? There was nothing to be afraid about."
"I know, I know. Can you blame me? I'd be devastated if she..." Hongjoong grabbed your cheeks, squishing your face and placing a kiss on your lips.
"You can't leave us, okay? I don't know what we'd do without you."
You leaned forward to connect your lips again, turning around and doing the same to Seonghwa.
"Listen, and listen carefully. You're stuck with me now. Me, all my weird antiques, my need to pet every stray dog I see, my crazy baking habits at two in the morning... It's all here to stay. With you, with Seonghwa, in our home."
A comforting silence overcame you, and you were again wrapped into their secure arms.
The brownies were long forgotten on the stove, probably cold by now, but Wooyoung won't mind.
The only thing important now was you, in your chocolate stained apron, feeling loved in the embrace of the two most important men in your life.
You Hongjoong.
Your Seonghwa
Your home.
.
.
There it is, people! My first baby, the fic I've had in my drafts for too long, and now I've finally finished it.
I decided to keep the ending short and sweet, with our reader as a human still, but now you know she'll be joining her boys to eternity someday.
I want to say thank you to all of the lovely people who've been there since the beginning, tuned in the middle, and stayed until the end.
Sincerely, thank you all.
Lots of love, and happy reading 🩵

The one with the white feather
Angel Hongjoong x detective reader

Genres and warnings: angel Hongjoong, detective reader, crime scenes, blood, guns mentioned, minors dni, angst, mentions of death, somewhat happy ending, strangers to maybe lovers, mature language (if i missed something, feel free to correct me)
Word count: 3.2k
A single white feather changes the course of your life.
"Good morning detective."
"Morning Yeosang, how's it going?"
"As you can see." The forensic inspector gestured around him. "It's been a messy day."
You scanned the area around Yeosang, noting how bloody it was. The person who died in the early morning hours was doomed from the second that the sharp knife touched her throat.
"I see... Do we have any details?"
"I've already spoken to the other detectives, we found her ID in her wallet. There doesn't appear to be anything stolen."
You hummed, nodding along to his story when you noticed something not far away from the woman's body.
A feather. One single white feather was next to her. Immaculate, despite the blood surrounding it.
"And what is that?"
Yeosang followed where you were pointing, shrugging his shoulders.
"It was there when we got here. It doesn't appear to have anything to do with the case. I mean, it's just a feather, I'm not sure what bird it's from, but it was just... There."
"You don't plan on picking it up?" You questioned, and Yeosang almost seemed offended.
"Hey, I thought we were past you doubting my skills. The feather isn't relevant, Y/N, but I'll pick it up. Don't worry."
Maybe he was right. You were known as the strict one in your department, but there was no need to doubt him. He's proven himself many times before, and you'd be devastated if your friendship took a blow because of work.
Just as you were about to respond, a flash of white somewhere behind him made you stop. It was fleeting, almost non-existent, but you saw it. Yeosang noticed your silence, trying to get your attention. You shook your head, gathering yourself again.
"Sorry, what? I don't know what's going on, this is just not my morning."
"Hey, I get it. Come, the others want to give you the details. I've got to finish up here."
.
.
"I swear to God, if this case beats my ass I'm quitting."
"We both know you won't do that."
Namjoon, the head detective of your department commented off handedly, sipping on his lukewarm coffee.
"Yeah, I know I won't, but I'm just saying."
"You've said it many times before, and here we are. We both know you love this job more than anything."
You sighed, finishing the last sentence on your report.
The murder case from two days ago was in full investigation, but you didn't have a single clue about what happened. The crime scene was basically spotless, if you count out the amount of blood.
One thing that kept you awake at night was the singular feather found next to the body. It was unusual, and you pestered Yeosang to test it.
No dna was found, it was from an unfamiliar species, and there was nothing tying it to the woman.
Your fellow detectives, as well as Namjoon, told you it was pointless to dwell on it, but you couldn't stop.
The other thing on your mind was the figure that appeared fleetingly in front of you. Yeosang told you it was your lack of sleep that jumbled your mind, but you knew what you saw.
Well, you didn't exactly, but there was something.
"Okay, I'm done. I need to get out of this office before I fall asleep on my desk. Again."
The head detective chuckled, shooing you away.
"Off you go. I need my best employee to be well rested. Lots of bad guys to catch."
"You're funny, you know? Bye now."
Waving to the other officers still in the office, you made your way outside to your car.
With a heavy sigh, you turned on the engine and made your way home. You lived in a small house in the outskirts of town, and you loved it.
There was no noise, no neighbours, no distractions. It was pure heaven for you, but the road towards your house was a little creepy. You had to get past a wooded area, and sometimes the paranoia from your job got to you.
Tonight was one of those nights, where everything seemed suspicious to you. Fortunately, there was no traffic, and you were almost out of the woods when you noticed him.
There, in the middle of the road, stood a man dressed in white. He wasn't moving, no. He was staring straight at your car.
"Come on now, move along." You whispered, tightening your grip on the steering wheel.
The man gave no sign of moving, staying rooted in his spot.
"Oh for the love of... Hey! Move it!" You yelled out of your window, but to no avail. Your car came to a stop, almost too close to the person.
Now you got a better look at him, and he was surprisingly handsome. His hair was blonde, almost white, and his clothes were pristine.
"Are you deaf? You have to get off the street."
The man's expression changed from stoic to amazed in a second. He opened his mouth, and his voice was as angelic as his face.
"You... You can see me? You can really see me?"
"Of course? You're standing in the middle of the road! Everybody can see you!"
He shook his head, quickly approaching your side. You instinctively reached for the gun in your holster, but he only gripped the glass of the window, his smile never faltering.
"I knew you noticed me back then! Oh wow... You really are special."
"What the hell? Okay, either you move or I get out of the car and make you."
At this point you were bluffing a bit, hoping the stranger would just go his way. The situation was getting too weird, even for a crime investigator like you.
As if he realised he was doing something wrong, the man panicked, mouth going slack.
"Oh no. No, no, no."
Sensing his distress, you tried going at him with a softer approach.
"Hey, are you okay?"
"No, no. I gotta go. It was so lovely meeting you finally, and I'm sorry you won't remember me."
Your confused expression made him even more sad.
"What?"
"Goodbye, Y/N."
"Wait, how do you know my-"
In a flash, the man was gone, and you were in a daze. After shaking your head, it was like everything went back to normal.
Funny, you could have sworn you just talked to somebody.
Oh well, maybe the stress was finally getting to you.
"I need a drink. Or maybe six."
.
.
There was this creepy feeling following you the whole next day. As if you were meant to remember something, but you just couldn't. The case you were working on wasn't making it any easier.
"This is starting to become ridiculous." You muttered, sifting through the papers.
"No leads?" San, a fellow detective, asked while passing you a cup of hot coffee.
"None. It's like someone put her there and just vanished."
San sighed, looking over your shoulder at the documents. There was Yeosang's forensic report, which gave you the cause of death, but other than that, nothing.
"The motherfucker is skilled. Maybe he's done this before?" He asked, making you wonder as well.
Suddenly, as if you were possessed, you reached for a pen and found a piece of paper at the bottom of the pile.
There, you circled one word.
"Brother?" San questioned, his eyebrows scrunching up.
"Yeah?" You replied, almost in a daze.
Then, it came to you.
"Her brother! Of course! Their grandfather died recently, and the family business was inherited by her."
"But wasn't he at a hotel or something? We have the receptionist's statement."
You let out a forced laugh, glancing up at San.
"The man is known for bribing people, you don't think he could have done it to that poor man working minimum wage as well?"
"Good thinking. Want to pay him a visit?"
Standing up and gathering your things, you smiled at San.
"Hell yes."
"Let me go get my things."
Before he walked out, he stopped at the doorway.
"Hey, Y/N? How did you know?"
"What?" You asked, confused.
"Well, you just... Went for it? Was it a feeling?"
You stood there, now realizing what happened in the last few minutes.
"I don't... I don't know, to be honest."
San nodded, shrugging his shoulders.
"Oh well... You have killer intuition."
.
.
"I knew you'd get it."
"Did you now?" You chuckled, clinking your glass against Yeosang's.
"Of course! You're the best detective I've ever met! And I'm not biased because you're my friend, I'm just stating the facts."
There were moments in life where you were thankful to have Yeosang as your friend, and this was one of them.
You successfully closed the case after confronting the victim's brother. The receptionist was easy to crack, and everything went smoothly afterwards. There was just one thing bugging you.
"It's a shame we don't know anything about the feather."
"What feather?"
Your hand stopped midway while lifting your drink, and you looked at Yeosang wide-eyed. His expression was the epitome of confusion.
"What do you mean 'what feather'? The one we found, completely unrelated to the case?"
"Y/N, I'm sorry, but there was nothing except for blood. You were there, you know that."
Silence fell over you, and your brain couldn't accept what he was saying. Was he messing with you?
Sensing your unease, he reached over to place your glass back on the table.
"Maybe you've had too much whiskey."
"This is my second glass."
"Yeah, well, maybe you're just too tired. Why don't I take you home now?"
You nodded, seemingly in a daze again. Yeosang led you out the bar and into his car, helping you buckle up. The ride home was quiet, with him trying to take your mind off the last conversation.
"And here we are. Get some sleep, okay? We'll talk tomorrow."
"Yeah... Yeah, I'll do that. Thank you, Sangie."
Without a second thought, you reached over to place a kiss on his cheek, exiting the car afterwards.
The image of the feather flashed in your mind again, and you couldn't stop thinking about it. You didn't even notice yourself unlocking your door and taking off your shoes.
Maybe you'd have been in a daze until you reached your bedroom, if it weren't for the fact that a man was standing in your living room.
"You're home!"
"What the hell?!"
Reaching for your waist, you pulled out your little handgun and pointed it at the stranger. His eyes widened, hands immediately going in the air.
"Hey now, why would you do that? I know you don't remember me, but there's no need to get so violent."
Your hands started shaking. Where have you seen him before? He was so eerily familiar.
That's when you noticed the white feathers scattered around the floor.
The same as the one heavy on your mind.
"Who are you? How did you get inside?" You asked, taking a few steps forward. The man still hasn't moved, but he now put his hands down.
"I'm Hongjoong. You don't know me as well as I know you, but I've been around for some time."
"Okay, Hongjoong. How exactly do you know me?"
He smiled. "Easy, I'm your guardian angel. I mean, I'm an angel, period, but I've come to like you a bit too much."
You gasped. "Are you on drugs? You definitely are, there's no way a sane person would say these things!"
"You don't believe me? Fine, I expected it."
Without another word, Hongjoong turned his back to you and spread out his arms.
That's when a pair of snow white wings sprang from his shoulders, knocking over a lamp on your coffee table.
"See? Don't they look cool?"
There wasn't one single credible explanation for what you were seeing, so you just... Sat down on the floor. Your gun was still clutched tightly in your hands, not yet ready to let your guard down. Hongjoong's eyes widened, a panicked expression taking over.
"Oh heavens! Are you okay? I can help you if you let me."
"N-No, no. Just... Stay where you are."
He surprisingly listened to you, staying rooted in his spot. His wings were still present, the white feathers shining in the dim light of your living room lamp.
"So... Angel?" You asked, knowing how ridiculous it sounded.
"Yep. I'm not really your guardian, but I took it upon myself to watch over you."
"Why is that?"
He sighed, sitting down on the floor a few feet from you.
"Well... I was once present to guide an unfortunate person to heaven. I saw you then, and I don't know... We can sense when people are in trouble, and you seem like a magnet for it. Part of the job, I suppose."
"Tell me about it." You huffed.
"After bumping into you again a second time, I decided to linger around. Why do you think you feel so safe when going home? I calm you down."
Your eyebrows scrunched up, wondering what we meant. It came to you then. Sometimes when you drive home, you feel like someone wrapped a blanket around your shoulders. It's fleeting, but it calms your nerves.
"That's you? I thought I was imagining it."
"All me." Hongjoong smiled, shrugging his shoulders.
"But why are you here? Last time... Wait."
You realized then. "I saw you! On the road! It was you!"
"Yes, it was. I had to erase it from your memory, it's forbidden for angels to show themselves around humans."
"What about now? You're still here, I'm looking at you."
He smiled, albeit a bit sad.
"I know that as well. I thought it wouldn't come to this, but... Once you see my feather, your fate has been sealed."
It's when you realize what he meant that it really hit you.
"I'm going to die, aren't I?"
Hongjoong only nodded. Silence overcame you again.
There was an angel in your house, telling you your death was close. This wasn't the evening you wanted to have, not in the slightest.
"So, how's that going to go? Are you here to, I don't know, help me?" You asked finally, looking straight into his eyes.
"I can't tell you that, but I promise I'll be there. I'm not planning on leaving you hanging. Besides, it will be nice to have a friend to teach you the ropes once you get here. Sorry, that might have been a bit insensitive."
"You think? Holy hell, I can't believe this."
You placed the gun back into your holster, standing up and walking into your kitchen. Hongjoong trailed after you, eager to have your attention.
"It's nice where I'm from, you know? I have a lot of friends, you'll get along just fine. And we've already decided what your job will be. Let me tell you, they don't let just anybody rank this high from the start."
"Will you please stop talking about my death like it's nothing?! I'm trying so hard not to have a breakdown right now, but you're not helping!" You yelled finally, your emotions taking over.
Hongjoong nodded, looking sad again. It kind of made you feel bad. He was clearly here to help you, and yeah it sucked to hear those things from him, but at least you won't be alone.
You knew your job came with a lot of risk, and that you'd end up hurt in action. It never occurred to you that you might... Die.
"I'm sorry, Hongjoong. I know you mean well, but it's a lot to take. I'm basically going to live the rest of however long my life is in fear. You really can't tell me when it will happen?"
He shook his head, taking a seat on a stool by the kitchen island.
"No, I'm not allowed. The only thing I can say... And I'm doing this because I really like you, is that you will die doing what you love, all the while protecting important people in your life. It's just who you are."
Well, that kind of made you a bit more relaxed. At least you know it is work related. That kind of made sense.
"And you'll be there?"
"Of course. I won't let you do this alone. You may not know me that well, yet, but I do know you."
You snorted a laugh, busying yourself with making some tea for the both of you. Do angels even drink tea?
"Oh really? What's my favourite colour?"
"Easy, red. You mostly wear black, but the few pieces you wear out are always red. Your nails are red, when you take the time to paint them."
You huffed. "Okay, that wasn't a tough question. Hmm... What's my least favourite movie and why?"
He stayed silent for a moment, and you thought you won, but he surprised you again.
"Twilight. The second one especially. You watch it when you want to laugh, because you always make fun of the acting. And you find it really cringe. However, you watch it when you feel down. It gives you a reason to laugh."
"Hongjoong..."
You handed him a cup, and when he reached over to take it, your fingers brushed. The touch was brief, but it sent a shock through your whole body. It was like a sting, but a pleasant one. He smiled afterwards, nodding like it confirmed something he thought about.
"What was that?" You whispered, too stunned to speak.
"Something... Magical. I know you felt it, you wouldn't be looking like that if you didn't. But that's not something you have to worry about now. Do you have any more questions? I'll try to answer them if I can."
It dawned on you suddenly.
"Oh God! Yeosang! I don't talk to my parents, I didn't even think about them, but him! He'll be devastated."
"He'll be fine. Believe me. He'll be sad, but somebody will be his shoulder to cry on. Maybe you even know it yourself." A knowing smile formed on his face, and you nodded enthusiastically.
"San? Oh my... Does it take me dying for them to finally confess to each other? A bunch of whimps."
Hongjoong chuckled, and you couldn't help but laugh along with him.
"At least something good will come from it."
He stopped, standing up to approach you.
"Y/N... I'm really sorry for barging in on you like this. It wasn't my intention. I just... You were always so close, but so far away at the same time. Don't hold it against me."
You looked at him, noting how sincere he sounded. It was like it pained him to be away from you, but it didn't make it easier that you had to die soon.
"I... I can't really think right now, I'm still in shock, but... It will be nice to have someone next to me. You know, once I pass. Maybe you're just the thing I needed."
His hand was on the island, and you couldn't help but reach for it again. Your fingers touched, the sparks going up your arm. Neither of you moved, and you just let the feeling sink in.
"It's... Strange. How I don't feel as scared as I thought I would."
"I'm here. I'm here to make it all easier. I will be next to you, as long as you let me."
Your eyes met again, and this time you smiled, the unease gone.
"I think I'll keep you for a while."

The one with the vampire royals and their doll Part 13
Series masterlist
Ateez Hongjoong x Seonghwa x reader
Genres and warnings: vampire Matz X reader, strangers to lovers, mature language, mentions of intimacy, minors dni, best friend Yeosang x Wooyoung, humor, fluff
Word count: 1.4k
You've had enough with the feud between your boyfriends and Wooyoung, so you take matters into your own hands.
Ever since Hongjoong and Seonghwa had you for the first time, they've been insatiable. Hongjoong would come knocking on your door before you left for work, wanting to warm you up for the day. Seonghwa would take his time with you afterwards, under the fairy lights in your room.
Weekends and the odd days were for both of them, and you always felt like you ran a marathon afterwards.
You weren't complaining. No, far from that.
It amazed you how much they wanted you, and you took it all in.
Your life was pretty much perfect, if you take out the fact that Yeosang and Wooyoung haven't been in the same room as your boyfriends since the incident you had.
Sometimes Seonghwa asks you about them, just so that he can make a joke about setting Wooyoung straight. You know he doesn't mean it, but it makes you wonder how it will all end up in the end. You want them to get along, it's not something you can negotiate on.
Because of that, you decided to take matters into your own hands. They'd have to sit together and talk like adults.
"My love, where do you want me to set the pastries? Are we eating in the living room or?"
You turned to Seonghwa, noting how cute he looked with his flowy white dress shirt, holding a tray of pink cupcakes. He looked absolutely out of place in his almost regal attire, standing in your small kitchen.
"I'm back!"
Both of your heads turned to the hallway, seeing Hongjoong enter with his hands full. He offered to go get your drinks, but he was gone longer than usual.
"Hi love, where have you been?"
Hongjoong placed a kiss on Seonghwa's lips before reaching for you and doing the same, as if he hadn't seen you an hour before.
"Sorry about that. I ran into your little friend, Y/N."
You froze, knowing what would come next.
Hongjoong placed the bags on the counter, seemingly too casual for your liking.
"Imagine my surprise, doll, when he said he was coming over to your place for movie night."
Seonghwa was now next to his husband, curious about what he said.
"Really? What an odd thing for him to say." You tried brushing it off, but Hongjoong was persistent.
"Is it? I found it quite odd as well, seeing how you invited us over for movie night as well. Maybe he got the days wrong, hm?"
You only managed to nod, trying to stall as much as you could. Yeosang and Wooyoung would be here any minute, and you were determined to see this through.
"Maybe, you know how he gets. Silly Yeosang."
The men glanced at each other, Seonghwa giving the blonde man a smirk.
"Y/N, my love, are you hiding something from us?"
"No! Why would I do that? Come on now, Hwa. We need to arrange the coffee table, the movie is about to start."
"We're using your Netflix, baby. We start the movie when we want." Hongjoong said, making his way over to you.
"Tell me... Is Yeosang bringing over a certain someone with him?"
You gulped, raking your brain for an excuse when the doorbell rang. Seonghwa chuckled, placing the cupcakes on the counter.
"Now, I wonder who that could be?"
"I'll get it! You stay put and please!" You pointed a finger a them. "Please, behave!"
Without waiting for a response, you walked towards your front door where you heard laughing from the other side. Opening it up, there stood a blushing Yeosang with his boyfriend wrapped around him.
"Hi there!" You said, trying to sound casual.
Wooyoung's eyes lit up.
"Y/N! Oh, I missed you so much!"
He detached himself from Yeosang and jumped straight into your arms. You chuckled awkwardly, gesturing for them to come inside.
"Now, now. It's been a week, how can you miss me so much?"
"That's too long! I love seeing your beautiful face every day!"
"Is that so?"
The three of you snapped your hands towards the living room, where your two boyfriends stood with their arms crossed. Hongjoong was the one who spoke first, smirking at Wooyoung's surprised expression.
"You like our girl that much?"
The poor boy almost pushed you off, taking a step back and trying to hide behind Yeosang.
"No! Not at all!"
Seonghwa stepped forward. "So, you don't like her? Why not?"
"That's not... No, I... Oh God!"
Wooyoung wrapped his arms around Yeosang's waist.
"Sangie, I love you. I will always love you. Light of my life, my precious emerald, my hero..."
"Cut it out, Woo. They're messing with you." Yeosang said to his boyfriend, amused by the whole situation.
"Are you?" He asked timidly, glancing over Yeosang's shoulder.
"Boys?" You questioned, glaring in their direction.
They looked at each other, nodding after a seemingly quiet conversation.
"We're messing with you." Seonghwa said finally, and all of the tension melted away.
"Oh thank God." Wooyoung sighed, placing a hand over his heart.
"But we do need to talk, don't you think?" Hongjoong added, gesturing for all of you to sit.
After making yourself comfortable between your boyfriends, you looked over at the two men trying to fit on your sofa. Wooyoung was adamant they could fit, and in the end he placed himself on Yeosang's lap.
"There. Now, I believe you owe us an explanation, is that right Wooyoung?" Seonghwa asked, trying to be as polite as possible.
You knew your men were well behaved all the time, but for some reason they enjoyed making Wooyoung squirm.
"All I can say at this point is... I'm sorry. I'm so sorry I messed up. I just..." Wooyoung stopped, taking Yeosang's hand in his. He couldn't even look at the men in front of him, opting to entertain himself with Yeosang's fingers.
"I was young, not well trained, but I was ambitious. If I had known how much the rings meant to you... I would have never offered to do the spell. I was over confident, and I realise that now."
There was a moment of silence between all of you, until Hongjoong chuckled. You looked at him, ready to scold him again, but he only smiled at you.
"Wooyoung, we aren't mad. It was a long time ago, right? We just wished you stayed back then to help us reverse the spell. We wanted to help you in any way we could, but you just... Disappeared."
Wooyoung nodded along, gathering up the courage to look at the two men.
"If I had known that... I'm sorry. My first instinct was to run, so I did. I wish I had done things differently."
"It's okay now, Wooyoung. Faith decided to bring us back together, and we know how much Yeosang means to Y/N. We'd never want to ruin that. As much as we want to continue messing with you -"
"Hey! Did I now tell you to behave?" You cut Seonghwa off, but he only kissed you briefly.
"If I may continue, my love. We want to, but we won't. So please, don't hide from us anymore. We still have to tell Yeosang and Y/N about the time you worked in the circus as a fortune teller."
Both you and Yeosang gasped.
"What? You scammed people?" You said, amused by the information.
"No! Of course not! I'm a warlock, remember? I know some things. I had to make money, somehow." Wooyoung was almost offended by your question, but the room soon burst into laughter.
The night went on smoothly afterwards, with your boyfriends making Wooyoung squirm a few more times. He took it like a champ, even firing back at them, and they let him off the hook.
When you said your goodbyes, you plopped back onto the couch, snuggling into Hongjoong's side.
"That was fun." You said, kissing him on the cheek.
"Fun? Sure. You're quite sneaky, my doll."
"She is, isn't she?" Seonghwa added, wiping his hands on a kitchen towel before making his way over to you. He snuggled into your side, reaching over to hold Hongjoong's hand.
"Do you think we should do something about that, my star?"
The men glanced at each other before looking back at you.
It was obvious where they were headed, and you were more than ready for them.
"I think she might need a lesson or two. What do you say, my love? Are you ready for it?"
You looked at both of them, noticing how their eyes changed to their natural colour. Seonghwa's bright red stood out more, but Hongjoong's deep burgundy made you shiver almost immediately.
"I'm always ready for you. My bedroom would be perfect for the lesson, don't you think?"

Ateez as Romance Tropes
The one where you fall in love for real
Other members

Genres and warnings: fluff, best friends to lovers, fake relationship, wedding guests, mature language, some angst, suggestive content, happy ending
Word count: 4.9k
When you tell a lie to save yourself from the judgement of your family, you need Yunho to play the part of the perfect boyfriend. For some reason, he does it so effortlessly you wonder if there is something more underneath.
"I did a thing."
"I'll go find a shovel, but tell me who it is? It's your ex, right?"
Your mouth dropped, going over to punch your best friend in the guts.
"You idiot! Why would that be your first thought?"
Yunho laughed, rubbing at his stomach.
"Because you really hate the dude? Come on, lighten up."
"I can't, I really can't."
You sighed, throwing yourself on the couch and pushing your head into a pillow. Yunho ran over to you, kneeling down and placing his hand on top of your head.
"Hey, honey, what's going on? You only get this depressed when they don't have your favourite cookies in the store. And... What did you do?"
There was no easy way to explain your poor decision making to him, but you knew he'd understand. He may not like it much, but he'd follow along. Or at least you hoped he would. Sighing again, you turned your head to look at him.
"You know how my cousin is getting married in two weeks?"
He nodded. "Yeah, the one you don't like, but your parents do. Why?"
"Well... She made fun of me when I went to dinner with her and our families. She said how I'm going to be single forever, and I don't have a date for the wedding."
You paused, not able to look Yunho in the eyes. He urged you to continue.
"So? Come on, Y/N, spill it."
"I told them you were my boyfriend and I'm bringing you as a plus one."
After rushing the sentence out, you smashed your face into the cushion again, not wanting to see his face. His chuckle made you lift your head again.
"Is that it? Oh, honey, that's cute. We're going to a wedding!"
You shot up, scaring him slightly.
"Cute? Do you know what I've done? My mother won't leave us alone, my cousin as well, because they don't believe me! I had to convince them for half an hour before they stopped laughing straight at my face. They'll make us... I don't know, do couple shit."
"Okay, breathe! Slow down, chill out and just breathe."
You rubbed your eyes, trying to keep the tears at bay. Yunho took this all way too lightly that he was supposed to, but that was his nature. He was always the casual one in your friendship.
The friendship that you two built over the years, going strong after so many ups and downs in college to adulthood. At twenty six, you were sharing an apartment and trying to tackle everyday obstacles. You wouldn't do this with just anyone.
"Why are you not mad? You know how my family is, and you know they'll be annoying us the whole time. We'll have to be all lovey dovey."
He smiled, plopping down on the couch and throwing an arm around you. You naturally gravitated into his embrace, letting him run his fingers through your hair.
"Why would I be mad? I love you, and I'd do anything for you. Nothing will change after one or two days pretending to be your boyfriend. You're still my Y/N, my best friend, right?"
You turned your head to look into his eyes, a bit confused by his expression. Yunho was always the fun one, the free spirited one, but why did he look so serious now? It almost felt like he was hiding something, but you didn't want to make this situation even more complicated.
"I love you too, Yun. Thank you, you're a lifesaver."
Ah, there it was, the face of your goofy friend. His grin was wider than ever, and before you knew it, his arms were strongly wrapped around you in a soul crushing hug.
"You love me? My, my honey, I haven't heard you say that since I got you two boxes of those cookies you like and couldn't find for a whole week!"
"Oh, shut up."
.
.
"You cannot wear that, absolutely not."
"But Y/N it's-"
"Bright green and ugly! Stop messing around, we have a family to impress - my family."
Yunho pouted, taking off the vomit coloured blazer and reaching into his closet for something else.
"I don't know why you're so obsessed with what I'm wearing to that shit show."
You sighed, feeling guilty about antagonizing your best friend when he was blindsided with your poor attempt at salvaging yourself.
"Look, all I'm trying to do is save us from any heavy judgement, you know how my mother gets. Lisa is even worse."
At the mention of your cousin's name, he shivered, making a sour face.
"Okay, okay. I'll look for something normal."
Yunho rummaged through his closet some more, before gasping excitedly.
"This is it! My 'boyfriend' armour! Yeah!"
"Whatever do you mean?" You questioned, already afraid it might be something ridiculous. But you were stopped in your tracks when he pulled out a sleek black suit. The one he wore on your graduation day.
Or as you remember it - The day you officially fell in love with Jeong Yunho.
"It's perfect, isn't it? You can't say no because you already complimented me when I wore it, if you weren't lying."
Even if you hated it, you couldn't say no to that happy expression of his. You just nodded, a lump forming in your throat.
"Y-Yeah, I think that will do."
"Oh, by the way, what are you wearing?"
You were quickly snapped back to reality with his question.
"Don't. Just don't ask me that. I'm a bridesmaid, per my cousin's request. The dress she chose... I'd rather not look at it until I really have to."
He winced.
"That bad, huh?"
"Worse."
"Okay, but knowing you, you'll manage to pull it off. You're just..." He stopped, suddenly averting his eyes from you.
"What? I'm just, what?" You urged him to continue, but he turned away to place the suit back into his wardrobe.
"You're just that beautiful."
For a moment, the world stopped. Yunho has always been the more affectionate one in your friendship, but you've never heard him sound so sincere. Without a word, you stood up from his bed and went over to where he was standing. He still hasn't turned around, rummaging mindlessly through the closet. You put your hand on his shoulder, standing on your tip toes to place a gentle kiss on his cheek. Instantly, his ears turned bright red, and he looked at you with wide eyes. You only smiled in return.
"Thank you, Yunho."
He shrugged, trying to brush you off like it wasn't a big deal.
"Yeah, yeah... So, what's for dinner tonight?"
.
.
"Y/N, dear! What on earth are you wearing?"
"We've been travelling for three hours mom, I just wanted to be comfortable."
Your mother made a disappointed face, and you could feel the judgement oozing out of her. Suddenly, her whole face lit up.
"Oh! Yunho! What a surprise!"
Yunho, ever the polite gentleman, offered your mother a handshake before placing his arm so casually over your shoulders.
"Hello. Sorry we're a bit late, traffic was terrible."
She waved him off. "Don't be silly, you're right on time! The rehearsal dinner doesn't start for another two hours, Y/N will have enough time to be presentable. I'm quite surprised by the sudden turn of events, I must say."
You sighed. "What do you mean?"
She gestured between the two of you.
"Well, this. The relationship. I thought you were just friends? You've known each other, what, over five years?"
Oh. Maybe you hadn't really thought everything through, like explaining how you got into this supposed relationship. Luckily, Yunho's brain always worked overtime, and he was quick to answer.
"Well, it took a lot of courage for me to confess my true feelings to Y/N. But I did it. This girl here... I'm a lucky guy. I still can't believe she's finally mine."
Your head snapped towards him, surprised by how casually he came up with an explanation. One you almost believed as well. It seemed like your mother bought it without trouble.
"Isn't that wonderful! Maybe you'll finally be able to tame that little firecracker. Please, go unpack your bags in the guestroom, and try to be ready on time Y/N."
"Yes, mother."
Anxious to run away from your judgmental family, you took Yunho by the hand and led him towards the guest bedroom on the third floor of your house. The only good thing about the situation was the fact that you had the whole floor to yourselves. You don't want to hear your mother's shrill voice first thing in the morning.
"Your mom's as fun as I remember her."
"Shut up. She couldn't wait to criticize me. I'm so glad I'm not alone in this."
Yunho closed the door behind you, throwing himself on the queen sized bed. The only bed in the room.
"Oh God, how are we going to sleep? We can't be in two rooms, they'll immediately figure us out."
"Don't be dramatic, the bed is big enough for both of us. You won't even feel me beside you."
You watched as he rolled around the mattress, almost purring like a cat.
"How are you this calm about... All of this? And what was that before with the speech? You really gave your everything."
He froze, leaning up on his elbows, but you could tell he was a bit more apprehensive now.
"I had to be convincing, don't read too much into it."
"Right..."
Silence overcame you, so you decided to unpack your things to keep yourself busy.
"Do we really need to go to that dinner?"
You sighed, feeling sorry about putting him through the whole ordeal.
"We do. It's the big rehearsal before the wedding, and I'm a bridesmaid. Although, I don't know why Lisa chose me in the first place. We've never been particularly close."
"Maybe she had a change of heart?"
You chuckled, glancing at him, seeing he was now in his stomach staring at you.
"Yeah, no. That evil spawn has had it put for me since we were kids. Do you know she chopped off my hair when we were seven? I had to get a bob. A bob! I looked like a sauce pan. Don't laugh!"
You threw a shirt at his head, but his laughing only got louder.
"Cut it out!"
Before you knew it, you were headed towards him, trying to silence him. Yunho grabbed your hands, and you toppled over him. In a mess of limbs, you somehow landed on top of him.
His laughing was cut off sharply, the grip he had on you tightening slightly. Your eyes met, and you were confused by the way he was gazing up at you.
Almost as if... No, no way. Yunho was your friend, and this was an awkward situation.
"Yunho?"
"Yeah?"
"I have to get up now."
"Oh!"
He let go of you, trying to sit up himself. You were now next to him, staring off in front of you. No words were said by either, so you slowly got up and continued rummaging through your things.
"I'm.. I'm gonna go take a shower and get ready. You... I don't know, do something. We need to be there in less than two hours, so don't fall asleep."
He nodded, avoiding your gaze.
"Got it. No sleeping. Off you go."
Leaving him be, you rushed out of the room and into the bathroom, all of your clothes in hand. You'd rather eat mud than have to walk into the room in just a towel. No way.
It took you an hour to get ready completely, and by the time you re-entered, Yunho was fast asleep.
"Silly boy."
You reached over to pat him on the back since he was sleeping on his stomach.
"Yunho? What did I tell you about falling asleep?"
The tall man jolted up, eyes still closed.
"I'm awake! I was just resting my eyelids. Yes, just resting."
"Well you have under an hour to get ready so I'd suggest you hurry it up."
He saluted you, eyes shut, and saluted you.
It took him a minute, but once he finally came to, he let out a gasp. His eyes were wide as you turned to look at him, mouth open.
"You... Wow."
This was the second time you found yourself questioning Yunho's expressions aimed at you. His eyes, usually full of joy, had a different glint in them.
"Oh? This? It's just an old dress I've never bothered to wear before."
"I can see why. You can kill a man with your looks honey. It's dangerous."
The blush on your cheeks was instantaneous.
"Stop that. What's going on with you?"
He laughed, grabbing his things to head out and get ready.
"I'm only speaking the truth. I think your cousin won't be happy when you outshine her tonight."
Yunho didn't give you a chance to reply because he was out the door in a second. You chuckled, going over to the floor length mirror in the corner of the room.
Your reflection was never something you appreciated enough, but Yunho always managed to make you feel special. Right now, you were gazing at yourself with another set of eyes, a set you were so familiar with. His words made you fall in love with the way you looked tonight. He just had that kind of charm.
You lounged around and waited for Yunho to get ready, your nerves starting to get the best of you, again. The door opened, and in came your best friend, dressed to the nines. Yunho somehow pulled off the checkered blazer and causal jeans combo like he got straight off the runway.
"What do you think? Too plain, or too weird? I really can't be bothered to wear slacks tonight."
Your heels made you a couple inches taller, but he still towered over you as you stood in front of him. No words were said from your end, and you grabbed the lapels of his jacket to straighten them out.
"It's crazy, you know?" You whisper.
"What?" Yunho looked confused, trying to decipher what you meant.
"How handsome you are, but you don't even realize it. You just make it all look so... Easy. So casual."
His eyes softened, placing his large palms over your shaking hands. The touch grounded you, making you aware of how close you were. If you just stood on your tip toes, if he just bent down a bit more...
"Y/N! I told you to get ready on time, we're going to be late!"
Your mother's shrill voice pulled both of you out of the trance you were in, separating like you were caught doing something naughty.
"Let's go. I can't stand her nagging me the whole night about not being on time."
He only nodded, following after you like a lost puppy.
"Oh just look at you two! Yunho, I'm impressed! You could pass as a model. How did my daughter get herself such a handsome man?"
Of course she would try to put you down in any way she could. You were about to burst, but Yunho beat you to it.
"I'd have to disagree with you. I think I'm the lucky man who got to have this beauty by his side. I'm still wondering how I managed to do that."
Your mother looked taken aback, not used to people taking your side. She quickly pulled herself together, and a smile appeared on her face.
"Well then... Both of you can consider yourselves lucky. Come on now, let's get going."
You just mouthed a silent thank you in his direction, and he winked before taking your hand in his and walking out of the house.
It wasn't a weird gesture, you two always held hands, but your brain was too jumbled to notice the tingly feeling you got in the moment.
"I think you should take up acting, you know?"
Yunho chuckled, buckling up and starting the car.
"And why is that?"
"Come on, my mother is smitten by you. I'm sure the rest of my family will be, too. You just saved my sorry ass from explaining why I've been single for so long."
He was silent for a while, and you thought you might have said something wrong, but then he reached over to take your hand again.
"You know, it's not all acting."
"What do you mean?"
"The things I say about you... I really mean them. You're special, Y/N, and I'm angry when I hear other people brushing you off."
"Yunho..."
You squeezed his palm tighter, not believing how you managed to get yourself a man like him. The little crush you had only grew bigger every time he opened his mouth in the past week. Something was up, but you didn't want to get your hopes up too much. This was still your best friend, doing you a major favour.
"I'm just being honest. This isn't as difficult as you made it out to be. I'm just being myself, and everything I say is completely truthful."
He glanced at you briefly, giving you one of his smiles that made your knees weak.
"You're going to make a girl so lucky one day, I'm actually jealous."
You said it fleetingly, trying to sound casual.
"Oh..."
"But not like that! No, hey. You're my man. I mean, not mine, but you know? My best man! My friend! Yeah..."
Taking a deep breath, you close your eyes to stop rambling. Yunho chuckled, raising your intertwined hands and placing a light kiss on yours. You froze, looking over at him. His eyes were on the road, but his ears were now bright red.
"You're my woman, too. Best one."
The rest of the ride was mainly silent, both of you blushing like crazy after the confessions. The restaurant your cousin chose for the rehearsal soon came into view, and you took a deep breath to prepare yourself.
Yunho parked the car before getting out and walking over to open your door. You just smiled, used to it by now. Ever since you became friends, you haven't opened a single door by yourself.
You said hi to a few people out front before entering the restaurant. From your left, someone shrieked.
"There you are! You're late! We have to start, come on, move it!"
"Hi Lisa, good to see you too."
Your cousin Lisa was in a short white dress, heels higher than you ever dared to wear, but she looked like she was about to have a break down.
"No time for that! Is this your boyfriend? He seems strong, he can help the others to rearrange the tables. Let's go."
You glanced at Yunho, ready to apologise, but he only shook his head and went over to the group of men in the corner.
"You got yourself a hotte Y/N. Who would have thought? Honestly, is it the sex? You must be good at it if he's still around."
"You're as classy as ever."
Lisa scoffed, grabbing you by the arm and dragging you over to the buffet.
"I'm just curious. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure you have your qualities, but him? How did you manage to snag that?"
Honestly, sometimes you wondered how you did that as well. Yunho was charismatic, friendly, and not to mention drop dead gorgeous. You were... You. That's why you made peace with the fact that he would always be your friend, nothing more.
"I'd rather not talk about my relationship right now. It's your day, isn't it?"
Your cousin smiled, nodding immediately.
"You're right! We'll talk about it some other time. Now, I don't like how they placed the flowers, so do something about it."
"You know this is just a rehearsal, right?"
Lisa gave you a look, making you cower slightly.
"It has to be perfect. Now, do as I say."
She turned around and stalked off to yell at someone else, and you sighed in relief. Glancing over, you saw the men in your family talking to Yunho. They seemed to be having a good time, regardless of the fact that they had to move ten tables around. He just had that kind of charm, you thought.
As if sensing your gaze, he turned around and winked. You smiled, knowing this whole event would be slightly more bearable with him by your side. With another sigh, you made your hands busy with the roses and carnations in front of you.
.
.
"And she had the audacity to mention my failed science project! I know I may have ruined our kitchen table, but I was proud of that volcano, you know?"
"What a jerk!"
"And then, she said how she couldn't believe I had a boyfriend because I was "too plain". Plain? Is she serious?"
"Y/N, I was there, I heard her."
You huffed, crossing your arms and leaning into the passenger's seat. The rehearsal was over, and you couldn't wait to get home. Yunho was the main attraction, and everybody loved him. You knew it would be like that, but you hoped your cousins would leave you alone for once.
Instead, she threw jabbs at you throughout the whole dinner, but you ignored her for the sake of your peace and sanity.
"Honey, whatever she said, and she talked a lot, wasn't true. Sure, you may be clumsy and sometimes awkward, but that's you. I love the way you are, and I'd never change your personality."
You glanced at Yunho, surprised by his sudden confession.
"You really mean that?"
"I really do."
You reached your home, noticing your parents' car wasn't there. Your mother mentioned going over to Lisa's house to sleep there before the big day so that she could be available for her at any second.
For some reason, you felt a bit sad. Yunho noticed how your mood changed, but he didn't want to make it worse by questioning you, so he just followed you to the shared room.
You took off your heels, sitting on the bed and holding back your tears.
"Hey, are you okay? I know tonight was crazy, but you seem so... Devastated."
He knelt on the floor in front of you, grabbing both of your hands. With him looking at you with those big eyes, full of concern, you broke down.
"I just can't take it anymore."
The first tear fell, but the second couldn't follow because Yunho instantly reached for your cheeks to wipe them away.
"Oh honey... Don't waste your tears on them. I know you love your family, you're just that kind of person, but I can't stand the way they treat you."
"It didn't bother me before, you know? But my mom never talked about how she couldn't wait to see me get married, it was always about Lisa. Am I that bad? Is it so impossible to imagine me in a wedding dress?"
Yunho stood up, crowding you in his embrace. He gently lifted your legs to place you into his lap, squeezing you to his chest.
"You want to know something?" He whispered.
"What?"
"I always think about how you would look in a wedding dress."
Your head snapped up to look at him, and his eyes were already on yours.
"You?"
He nodded, placing his forehead on yours. His gaze was now darker, and you noticed how his hands trembled while holding you.
"Me. You know what else? The person you are walking towards is always me. Standing there at the end of the altar, waiting patiently for you to come."
"Yunho... What are you..."
His hands cupped your cheeks again, face so close you could count his eyelashes.
"Those people... They don't know how much you are worth. You're the most beautiful person I have ever laid eyes on. You're funny, so smart and witty it's not even real. You..."
His lips, the ones you've been dreaming about for a while now, were a breath away from yours. He hesitated, trying to decipher your emotions. You didn't want to let him get too into his head, so you grabbed the lapels of his jacket and pulled him in.
Your lips smashed together, and Yunho finally let go.
The kiss was different from any other you've ever had. After all, it was Yunho kissing you instead of someone random. Yunho, the man who stood by you through thick and thin.
Yunho, the person you turned to when your bad thoughts took over.
Yunho, messy, lovable Yunho, who talked about you like you were his lifeline.
Your lips danced together, his hands squeezing your cheeks as if you would disappear at any moment. Yours were placed on his sturdy chest. The chest you loved cuddling to when you watched sappy movies.
The air grew hotter in seconds, and you had to stop for a second to take a breath. As you detached yourself from him, you were surprised how natural everything felt.
There was no awkwardness, no doubt.
You just kissed Yunho, your best friend, and it felt as natural as breathing.
"Now that... That was super hot."
It took you a second before you burst out into laughter. Leave it to Yunho to say something a frat boy would in a moment like this.
"Yeah, it was. You're such a dork, oh my God."
"But I'm your dork, right?"
You looked into his eyes, seeing how serious he actually was.
"Do you... Want to be?"
"I thought I already was, but let's make it official."
Before you could respond, Yunho got down on one knee in front of you. Your eyes widened, and you panicked slightly when he reached into his pocket.
You soon realised there was no need, because he only took out his wallet. Strange, but okay.
"I know this is so sudden, but I always knew we'd end up together. I was just too shy to do anything because I'm me, and you are incredible. And so sexy it's not even real."
You gasped, knowing there was no chance Yunho could do a standard, normal, romantic confession.
For some reason, you loved him even more for that.
"Look at this."
He took out a piece of paper from his wallet, giving it to you.
There, on a random sticky note, was your writing. It only said "gone out, eat breakfast you idiot!!! love you"
"It's funny, but when I looked at the note you wrote about six months ago, I couldn't help but wonder. Do you love me in the same way I love you, or was it just something you said because we've known each other for so long. I realised I had to step up my game, so I tried to be obvious. But you... You are as dense as honey sometimes."
Your eyes widened.
"Is that why you..."
"Call you honey? Part of the reason. You're just the sweetest person I've ever met, so it fits. Do you get it now?"
You nodded, realising he was still down on one knee. You pointed at his position, raising your brow.
"If you propose to me on my cousin's wedding day we might as well be exiled from planet earth afterwards."
Yunho gasped, seemingly realising himself how this might look to you.
"No, no! Don't worry, I plan on proposing, but not today. I need to figure out where I can rent a unicorn."
"You do know those aren't real? And why the hell would you need a unicorn?"
"Doesn't matter. Let me get back to my point. I love you, and I want you. Do you want me?"
The two of you looked into each other's eyes, not knowing whose smile was bigger.
"I love you, and I want you. Come and kiss me again."
"Yes ma'am!"
.
.
"We totally broke your bed."
"Let's hope we did not, because my mother would freak out."
Your back was pressed against Yunho's front, his arms wrapped securely around you. The position wasn't foreign to you, but the state of undress you were in was.
After his grand confession, Yunho couldn't keep his hands off of you. Soon enough, you were tangled in the sheets of your old bed, your moans making the sweetest melodies.
"You know, we can skip the wedding if you want to."
You turned to glance at him, totally unprepared for the suggestion.
"We can't do that. My family would... You know, I don't think my family would mind much."
"Do you want to go?"
"No! No, I don't! You're a genius."
He laughed, placing a kiss on your hair.
"I pride myself in having a big brain. I don't think that's the only thing that is big abo-"
"Okay! We get it."
You turned around in his arms, placing your hands on his cheeks.
"I love you. Thank you for going through this hell with me. And thank you for pushing me to do something I want, but don't have the courage to."
He leaned down to place a gentle kiss on your lips, his arms strengthening their hold on you.
"You can always count on me. You deserve to be surrounded by people who worship the ground you walk on."
"There aren't that many."
Yunho smiled, chuckling afterwards.
"There's me. I will be there, for as long as you want me."
"Somehow, I think that will be more than enough."
The two of you enjoyed the feeling of finally being together for some more, before you silently packed up your things and headed out to the car.
Finally, you were able to escape the horrible behaviour you'd been exposed to since you were little.
Your heart didn't feel so heavy anymore, and with Yunho's hand covering yours, you knew it never will.
