I looked at the words I had written, and found my heart poured over the page… with a swift and stern silence, I threw it away.

I carry you with me
In my body
Always
A casual tourist
In the garden of my soul

This blog has featured so many great poets and it feels wonderful to be given a small platform among them. I highly recommend you follow Susi and her blog as well submit your work for consideration for future features!

One of my favorites from 2023. I'm finding it's okay to love the things we create. Every once in awhile....
ligaments lifted from their home
tissue cleaved from bone
sewn into the fabric
of this textile skin
sinew and lace
synthetic fibers to replace
the space in which the iron
raced through this body
at vascular pace
I've erased all trace of the
scars you've placed
at the base of this
hollowed out rib cage
where the phrase
I love you
ricocheted it's way
inside the space
in which I once held dear
the image of your face

If "best friends" is forever,
Then eternity is a pin-pricked drop of rain,
Consumed by the Ocean of time.
I wonder if her high and mighty tides crashed gleefully at the audacity of our laughter,
Thinking we could weather her storms,
Until the flesh vacated our bones and returned to the dampening earth,
Saturated by her tears of longing.
Is it sirens that beckoned sailors to their deaths?
Or the melody of a hungry, lonely sea?
Collecting laughter on her current winds,
And replacing it with melancholy.

Your touch
The tips of blades
Your embrace
An etching of wills
Your presence
Void of an echo
A continuum of ego
With hands just out of reach
Your Love
Is a bleeding of quills
And a gnashing of teeth

Keep Me Closer
broken glances nestled between gaps of closure
clenched fists and laughter
false smiles for broken lover
heart ensnared in sleeves now folded
memories fade with fondness smothered
yet still
call me your friend and pull me ever closer
is it my name you'll call when the world is over

Can you hear the ringing in my ears too?
Are you deafened by the echoing of it's piercing cadence?
Do you see the stain of crimson's kiss upon my cheeks and think me a girlish fool or do you fear an unknown rage bubbling beneath the surface of my skin - a birthright granted to all the women of the world who learn at such a young age to swallow their thoughts and compound their feelings into a silent drone of quiet distemperment for fear of being put down or worse, put in "their place"?
Why do I have to choose between respect and attractiveness?
Why does the ringing not reverberate an assault upon the glass ceiling I'm trapped under? I will shatter myself long before the ceiling collapses. A sea of tiny deaths will not usher change but it doesn't stop me from trying.

Bends or Breaks
I wish I could collapse myself inward,
to a quiet place.
One that doesn't boast of it's recklessness,
and reserve it's reckonings from those deserving of wreckage.
I wish I could fold myself away,
into a quiet place,
but my limbs don't bend that way.

A Poem Titled "Suicide" by Freya Pickard
no one hears me
therefore I do not exist
pale ghost in shadow
I step out into sunlight
erupt in blaze of glory

Truth or Lie
nervous energy
filling the room
your feet turned towards the door
my feet turned towards you
we could've been anywhere else
if only one of us told the truth

A poem titled "There" by JeanMarie Olivieri
"It starts with a sigh,
a longing, an itch, a desire.
Pick up snacks.
Forget the map.
There will be a destination
in any direction we go.
It begins when 'you are leaving...'
is in the rearview mirror."

They say "love is a losing game"
but we play it all the same.
I'd rather be the loser,
over and over again,
if winning means
I'd never hear you whisper my name.

Beautiful. And..... unfortunately accurate ♥️
You were my home
Now I don’t even know your name
Your love was eating me alive
Yet somehow it was comfort
Comfort
Or
Pain…
