Hello. Could you do a Sonic x fem human child (like 6-9 age) reader, who somehow washes onto bygone and hides from the Mobians Sonic and Co. find her after being asked to find out who was stealing things at night?
If possible, also how do I send fanart?
Echo Boom!
(Platonic! Sonic Boom gang & 6yo child! reader)
⚠️CW: Child neglect and abuse, bullying, runaway/escape from an abusive environment, implied PTSD/trauma symptoms, mild injury and peril, emotional vulnerability and found family themes.

For as long as you can remember, there’s been nothing but hardship after hardship. You don’t know if your biological parents are dead or alive. Your ‘home’ has always been the harsh orphanage you’ve grown up in. You were tired of the kids your age or older bullying you, the caretakers treating you like mud stuck to their shoes, and the headmaster turning the other cheek, wasting his days away drunk, pocketing funds for the orphanage, or sneaking off with women. So you had had enough and decided that anywhere else would be better than staying there any longer.
You stole one of the caretaker’s fluffy shawls so you could use it as a blanket later, and you wouldn’t have to take up space in your backpack. You had packed an extra pair of clothes and filled the rest of the space with food you stole from the kitchen. As soon as you were done, you snuck out and ran away.
You eventually arrived at a boat pier. Looking around to ensure no one saw you stealing, you untied the rope from a boat, hopped on, and revved up the engine. You had no idea where you were going; you just wanted to be as far away from that orphanage from hell as fast as possible.
What you didn’t consider happening was a storm. You remember howling in your ears so loud it almost hurt, the wind so strong you were nearly knocked off the boat numerous times, the cold biting your soaked skin, and the next thing—complete darkness.
You wake up washed up on a beach; the little boat you stole is long gone, yet by some miracle, you still have the shawl and your backpack on you. Your body aches, your soaked clothes feel uncomfortable against your freezing skin, especially with sand clinging to some places, and your mouth tastes repulsively of sea salt water.
Anywhere is better than going back.
With that in mind, you start exploring the island further.

Sonic and his friends were walking through the village when they overheard a fennec shopkeeper talking to a beaver police officer, his voice raised in upset, “The loss of money is piling up; if this continues, it can start to hurt my business.”
“What’s going on?” Amy asked.
The police officer and the shopkeeper turned to the group. “Someone’s been stealing from my shop! It’s been going on for weeks now!” the shopkeeper exclaimed.
“Dr. Eggman?” Tails looked at his friends and suggested.
“He hasn’t been here since the Choco Num Num bar incident,” said the shopkeeper.
“He would’ve already exposed his great scheme and started gloating about how he’s going to be able to defeat us once and for all,” Sonic said, rolling his eyes.
Sticks started crawling and sniffing the ground, following the thief’s scent.
The scent trail led to a place deep in the forest where the gang found what looked like something that could somewhat resemble a tent.
“This shelter stinks,” Sticks criticized the ‘tent.’ “All the animals in the woods can do a better job than this!”
“Probably because it’s not an animal,” Tails said. “The trash here is food from that shopkeeper’s place.”
Wrappers, containers, cans, juice boxes, and water bottles—someone was living there. The makeshift bed inside with a dent provided more evidence. But they also noticed that it looked quite… small?
Suddenly, a small high-pitched shriek was heard.
“Ha! I’ve found you, you little thief!” The gang heard Sticks and ran over to her, hands on her hips, looking down at a bush.
“Did you? Or is there a squirrel in there you’re accusing?” Sonic asked dryly. As soon as he spoke, the bush shook and a small whimper was heard.
“Sticks, stand back. There’s a child in there. You’re scaring them,” Amy chastised.
Reluctantly, Sticks backed up. Amy only took one step forward and crouched down. “Hello there. I’m sorry my friend scared you.” She looked around the bush and found a pair of eyes that backed up, reminding her of a scared kitten. “We heard that someone has been stealing food from a shopkeeper. You do know that’s not a good thing to do, right?”
A louder whimper that sounded more like a sob came out from the bush.
“The kid probably doesn’t have a choice, Amy. They’re only trying to survive,” Sonic said. To others, it may have sounded like he didn’t care, but those close to him could hear the protectiveness in his voice defending you. Amy glared at him for a moment but softened, knowing Sonic was right. She turned back toward the bush. “You’re not in trouble, I promise. I also promise that if you come with us, you won’t ever have to steal food and be hungry again.”
Hearing those words made you feel happy and warm. Your fear was subsiding, and the pink hedgehog in front of you felt like a kind and comforting being—nothing like the women back at the orphanage who were supposed to take care of the children.
Slowly, you started making your way out of the bush. The gang was surprised to see a human child instead of a Mobian child step out. Yes, they had met plenty of humans before they settled on this island they call home, but so far, during all their time on the island, the only human they’d seen was Dr. Eggman.
“It’s a child! And it’s human!” Knuckles exclaimed.
“Yes. We all see that, Knuckles,” Sonic responded flatly.
“You’re hurt,” Tails said, looking at the cuts and bruises on your body. The rest of the gang saw this and felt bad for you. “I have a med kit back home. I can clean and fix you up in no time.”
“I’ll go ahead and make food,” Amy perked up. “How does that sound?” Her expression slightly dropped as she realized something. “Oh. That’s right, we haven’t asked what your name is.”
You flinched as the gang all looked at you at the same time, waiting to hear your name. Sonic saw you fidgeting and kneeled. “You don’t have to tell us your name right now. You can tell us later. But those injuries on your legs look painful. How about I give you a piggyback ride?”
Feeling relieved, you gave a small smile and nodded.
“Alright then!” He smiled and pointed with his thumb toward his back. “Go ahead and hop on!”
You made your way to Sonic’s back and climbed on him as he made sure to hold the back of your knees. Everyone started to head to Tails’ home—except for Sticks, who was back at the makeshift tent inspecting every single inch of it, grumbling under her breath about how poorly made it was and pointing out all the mistakes.

You were sitting on the couch all cleaned up, wearing a black shirt that was big enough to be pajamas in the meantime, since all the clothes you had were pretty much unsalvageable.
“There! All better,” Tails stated happily. Your arms and legs were all wrapped up in bandages.
“You sure the kid is supposed to look like a mummy?” Knuckles asked, skeptical.
“Yes, I’m sure this is how they’re supposed to be bandaged,” Tails rolled his eyes.
“Food is ready,” Amy entered the living room, a smile on her face—until she saw what you were wearing to sleep in.
“Sonic! I said to get pajamas!” she frowned.
“What? The kid can go to sleep in that shirt. Besides, it’s not like I know what to get since I don’t wear any clothes,” he tried justifying himself.
Amy made a noise like a growl of disapproval, then sighed. “I’ll take you shopping and buy you some cute clothes, okay?” She smiled at you, excitement evident in her voice at the thought of dressing up an adorable kid like you.
You nodded with a smile of your own. Amy’s expression saddened slightly. “They still haven’t talked?” she turned to Tails, and he shook his head.
“Not a single word in the bathtub or while I was cleaning and bandaging the wounds.”
“Is the kid mute?” Knuckles wondered.
“Maybe,” Sonic mused.
You could talk—however, the people at the orphanage pretty much taught you that your words didn’t matter. So why bother saying any words at all if they were only going to go in one ear and out the other? It didn’t exactly make things better, since the adults saw this as giving attitude and an act of defiance, which gave them an excuse to hurt you and justify their actions.
You were confident that these… people(?) were different from the adults at the orphanage, yet, there were still the voices of those awful adults in your mind, haunting you. You wanted to wait longer to use your voice.
Amy saw the scared, sad expression on your face and changed the subject. “Well, we don’t have to worry about that right now. Let’s eat! I made enough for everyone.”
Everyone got their plates and sat around the coffee table. You sniffed the food and your stomach rumbled. You took a slow first bite. Your eyes widened at how delicious the food was—it wasn’t at all like the flavorless meals or the suspicious-looking undercooked meat, or the expired foods. And it tasted better than any of the foods in wrappers, containers, and cans that you stole from the shopkeeper. You couldn’t recall the last time you’d had a proper meal. You couldn’t resist and started chowing down on the food fast.
Everyone looked in shock.
“You don’t have to eat quickly, it’s not going anywhere,” Amy said, worried.
“Yeah, what she said,” Knuckles added before he started thinking, his fingers rubbing his chin. “Unless the plate grows legs and runs away.” He picked up his plate above himself and looked at the bottom. “Nope, no growing legs.”
Sonic, Tails, and Amy looked at Knuckles, unamused—until they heard you burst out laughing, which made them happy.
“Oh my goodness, they finally laughed! Knuckles made them laugh!” Amy had her hands on her cheeks, adoring how cute you were.

You slept soundly through the night, which was surprising because you’d had frequent nightmares since leaving the orphanage. Maybe it was because you went to bed with a full tummy for once, or the warmth of Amy and her friends, or the coziness of an actual bed. You felt bad that Amy was letting you sleep on her bed while she planned to sleep on the couch in the living room. And yet, she reassured you that she wanted you to sleep somewhere that was actually a place to sleep in—and that it was only in the meantime while they figured out your sleeping situation.
As you gently woke up, you heard commotion going on outside of the bedroom you occupied. You came around quickly, afraid of what might be going on, when the door slammed open—revealing the girl named Sticks.
“You’re coming with me whether you like it or not.”
You barely had a second to wonder before she threw you over her shoulder like a potato sack, and you let out a loud yelp.
“Sticks! What are you doing!?” Amy rushed in.
“I’m kidnapping the kid.”
Sticks ran outside and far away from the house while Amy was calling out for her to bring you back. Of course, Sticks didn’t listen.

When Sticks finally plopped you down on the ground, you were confused why she brought you far into the forest—until your sight was met with an actual shelter that was way better than your pathetic-looking tent. It was a mini one too, perfect for your size.
“I’m gonna teach you how to make that,” Sticks pointed. “That way there’s no excuse for you to make that sad tent ever again.”
You were confused, yet somehow excited to learn how to make a proper shelter.
While Sticks was teaching you, Amy had called Sonic to rush over to her house about an emergency, explaining what had just transpired.
“Relax, it’s not like Sticks is going to get the kid hurt,” Sonic said confidently—until he started thinking about how wild said friend was. “At least, I don’t think so,” he added, rubbing his neck.
Amy sighed, clearly stressed. “We need to find her, quickly!”
Sonic and Amy searched and searched in the forest until they finally found her.
“Sticks! Where’s the child?!”
Sticks turned around, and you walked out of a shelter that you made next to Sticks’, where she had you follow each step, with a smile on your face. It wasn’t as good as hers, although it was much better than the tent you made.
“You made this all by yourself, kid?” Sonic walked up to you and asked, and you happily nodded.
“Impressive.” He smiled and rubbed the top of your head.
“The kid is being taught by the best, obviously,” Sticks said, arms crossed and nose up in the air.
Amy, on the other hand, was not so delighted. “Sticks, you got their shirt all dirty.”
Sure enough, your little endeavor had left your shirt filthy. Amy shook her head. “This will be the perfect time for us to go shopping, don’t you agree?”
A gentle smile was on her face as she asked you, and you nodded.
“Perfect.” And with that, the two of you started to head down to a clothing store.
Amy’s excitement to dress you was quite a surprise to you. The way she would ramble—mostly to herself—about what colors might suit you best or what type of style would look cute on you reminded you of a few kids who would get special treatment from the inheritance that was supposed to go to them when their parents passed away. Of course, the greedy headmaster would keep it all for himself. Those kids would get dolls and different outfits for said dolls while talking out loud about wanting even more clothes for the toys and what they thought would look gorgeous on them.
You changed into the outfit Amy had picked out for you and she asked you to step out of the fitting room so she could see how it looked. When you stepped out, you heard her awe at you.
“You look so pretty.”
Once again, Amy surprised you. You looked at a mirror on your left and tilted your head in confusion.
I am?
Amy saw this, and her heart ached painfully.
A child shouldn’t be thinking such negative things about themselves, she thought.
Amy kneeled to your height. “I’m sorry someone made you feel less about yourself. They shouldnt have done that, especially to a child. I don’t know what you’ve been through, but please know that you’re not going back to those people who made you feel awful. You have a new home now. Remember that.”
Tears started to fall automatically.
The adults at the orphanage didn’t hold anything back when it came to verbally tearing you down. Of course, your looks were included as well. They made sure to remind you every single day that ‘no parent would want a child that looks like you’ and how unlovable you were.
So hearing something new and positive from someone who was endlessly kind and gentle to you broke a dam—and you started crying.
Amy’s heart broke as she pulled you in for a hug.

When you and Amy returned to her house, Tails was there waiting. “Hey Amy, I wanted to ask if I can spend some time with them.” He smiled and looked at you.
Amy was feeling suspicious. “Does it involve going deep into the forest and getting their clothes all dirty?”
“No.”
“Dangerous experiments and inventions?”
“Nope,” he said without hesitation at first, but then his face changed to one of thinking—as if trying to figure out if what he wanted to do was dangerous.
Amy didn’t like the look and was about to decline when she remembered that you must have been lonely for quite some time. She needed you to know that you had people who cared about you, and that you weren’t alone anymore. What better way to do that than to make sure everyone in the gang spent time with you?
She sighed and caved in. “Fine. But if anything happens, call immediately without delay.”
“Promise!” Tails’ smile got bigger, and he turned back to you. “I have a surprise for you back at my place. Wanna see?”
You perked up and nodded vigorously.
A surprise? For me?
“Let’s get going then.” Tails held your small hand in his and led you the way.
You were sitting on the couch with your hands covering your eyes, per Tails’ request, while he brought over the surprise. You heard movement in front of you, making your legs fidget in excitement.
“Alright, you ready?”
You hummed in approval.
“Well then, open your eyes!”
You removed your hands and saw a robot-looking kitten? It meowed and leaped onto your lap, startling you.
“It’s okay. It acts like a trained house cat. Plus, I made sure to modify the cat to be careful with its claws so you won’t get hurt,” Tails explained.
He took out a laser pointer and handed it over to you. “Press the button and point it at the ground.”
You did just that, and the kitten was immediately entranced and positioned itself to be ready to pounce. It jumped off your lap and used its tiny paws to catch it. As you moved the laser pointer, the kitten kept trying to catch it, making you giggle—as well as Tails.
He figured you might have been alone for quite some time, and he was worried about leaving you completely alone if Dr. Eggman attacked and he and his friends were busy fighting. Tails was incredibly happy to see you loving his invention for you. He couldn’t help but feel like an older brother to you.
However, you, Tails, and the kitten all jumped when the front door slammed open.
“I need the kid’s help,” Knuckles announced as he entered.
“Help with what?!” Tails was confused. What could Knuckles possibly need help with that none of the gang could assist with, but only a child could?
Before Tails could ask, Knuckles was already running out the door—holding you in his arms.
“Knuckles, wait!” Tails cried out, but it was futile.
“So I need your help getting some of those fruits!” Knuckles explained happily.
He wanted the sweet fruits from a Manilkara huberi tree. He was going to throw you high enough for you to grab some and collect them into a basket he had.
You were scared and hesitant seeing how tall the tree was—it was tall enough that you couldn’t see any kind of fruit, and you questioned to yourself if the tree went on forever.
“I’ll be sure to catch you, I promise.”
The gentle, firm confidence in Knuckles’ voice when he promised surprisingly helped you, and you nodded, determined to return the help that was given to you.
“Alright, get ready!”
There was no time to have second thoughts as he threw you high up into the air.
“Wah!”
Involuntarily, you let out a shout of surprise—you doubted Knuckles would be able to toss you that high. Alas, his strength proved you wrong. Sure enough, you were face-to-face with the fruits the tree held.
There was a good moment of being suspended in the air—long enough to grab two fruits in your small hands before you began plummeting to the ground. The whole way down, you let out a terrified high-pitched scream—
—until you were caught in comfortable, strong arms.
“Told you I’d catch you!” Knuckles proudly stated as you opened your eyes and looked around to prove to yourself that Knuckles had kept his word—just like he promised.
“Wanna go again?”
Fear was replaced with adrenaline and excitement as you nodded your head.

Meanwhile, Tails panicked and called Sonic to explain what had happened.
“The kid has barely been here a full day and already trouble is following them! This is the second time someone’s kidnapped them today.”
Sonic ran across the island searching for you and Knuckles, when he spotted a sight: you were laughing as Knuckles threw you high into the air.
“Knuckles!!” Sonic’s shout had his friend looking down at him, confused, while you were already starting to fall again.
Sonic bolted to where you were dropping and caught you in his arms. You started giggling—Sonic, on the other hand, was not amused.
“Knuckles, you can’t just throw the kid in the air like that—they could’ve gotten hurt!”
Knuckles was still confused. “What? I wasn’t going to let the kid fall to the ground. I caught them every time.”
Sonic sighed. “Whatever. Amy will explain it anyway.”
Then, a little softer, “Besides, it’s my turn with the kid.”
It was somewhat the truth—he did want to hang out with you. But it was also the perfect excuse not to have you keep being tossed like a volleyball.
With that, Sonic sped off with you.
Unbeknownst to all three of you, your robot kitten had caught up, following your scent. It let out a soft, sad meow—just as you were whisked away again.

Sonic hadn’t said much as he zipped across the island with you in his arms, wind rushing past your ears. His expression was somewhere between annoyed and amused, but the way he held you—secure and steady—said he wasn’t actually mad. After all, Knuckles did catch you.
You were still giggling from the adrenaline of being tossed into the sky, clutching the small fruits you hadn’t had a chance to hand over. Sonic glanced down at you, brow raised.
“So,” he said dryly, “you like being launched like a cannonball now?”
You tucked your chin, barely suppressing another giggle.
Sonic sighed, though it wasn’t a real one. “Figures. Alright, c’mon. If you’re gonna fly, you’re doing it my way.”
With a sudden shift, he veered off the main path, heading up a steep hill toward a cliffside. The trees parted, revealing a wide open space where the wind howled in soft waves, kicking up loose leaves and sending them spinning into the air. Sonic finally slowed, setting you down gently on the grass as the breeze tugged at your hair and shirt.
“Cool, right?” Sonic said, placing his hands on his hips proudly. “This spot’s got the best wind on the island. Tails says it’s too ‘dangerously unstable,’ but that just makes it more fun.”
You looked around. There was nothing here—just sky, sun, and open air.
It felt… free.
Sonic suddenly stretched his arms out wide and leaned forward like he was about to fall. The wind caught his shirt and quills, holding him up just slightly.
“Try it!” he called. “Arms out! Let the wind do the heavy lifting!”
You hesitated, looking from Sonic to the edge of the cliff and back again. Your feet shuffled a little closer. The breeze pulled at your sleeves. Nervously, you lifted your arms—just a bit.
“Atta kid,” Sonic said, softer now. “You don’t gotta jump. Just… feel it.”
You inched forward, slowly raising your arms out all the way, mimicking him.
The wind pressed against your shirt and cheeks, lifting your hair away from your eyes. You felt lighter. Not quite flying—but close.
A quiet gasp slipped out of you—almost too soft to hear, but Sonic caught it anyway. He grinned.
“Yeah. Better than getting launched by Knuckles, huh?”
You nodded. Just once.
The wind tugged at your clothes like invisible hands lifting you upward. For a moment, you forgot everything else. Your voice, your fears, the awful memories of the past, the ache in your chest—it was just the sky, the wind, and the steady presence of Sonic beside you, arms still outstretched like wings.
A soft meow broke the calm.
You turned, blinking in surprise. Out from the trees, walking with wobbly little legs and glowing eyes, came your kitten—your robot kitten. Dusty, slightly dented, but tail wagging like it had been running for miles to find you. It meowed again, more urgently this time.
You dropped your arms and rushed to it, scooping the little bot up into your arms and hugging it close. It purred—soft and mechanical—pressing its tiny metal face against your chin.
Sonic tilted his head. “Whoa. Yours?”
You nodded again, this time quicker, hugging the kitten tighter.
He gave a low whistle. “Tails really is a softie. You get a whole kitten, and all I got was a wrench to the head on my first day meeting him.”
You stifled a giggle behind your arm. Sonic noticed.
He knelt down beside you, reaching out to gently pet the kitten’s back. It meowed again—content this time.
“Guess we’ve got ourselves a three-kid crew now,” he said. “You, me, and little Robo-Meow here.”
You looked up at him, the breeze tousling your hair, and for a moment—just a moment—it felt like you might say something. The words caught at the edge of your mouth…
But instead, you reached out and gently offered the kitten toward him, letting it press against his arm.
Sonic blinked, surprised—but smiled.
“Yeah,” he said. “I like you too, buddy.”
He stood, then crouched a little. “Wanna ride back?”
You nodded and climbed up onto his back, kitten in tow. Sonic waited until you were steady, then took off in a blur—but not at full speed. Just fast enough to let the wind kiss your face one more time.
“All right, Captain Windrider,” Sonic said over his shoulder. “Let’s go find Amy before she thinks I lost you forever.”
Your arms wrapped tighter around his neck—not in fear, but comfort.
The wind rushed past. Your robot kitten tucked safely between you.
You realized this kind of flying…
was even better than the first.

It’s been some time 😅
I’m sorry for the people who have sent requests for fanfics that I haven’t gotten around to doing. I want to say about just one day after I posted my last fanfic, my stepdad made my already declining mental and emotional health even worse. However. The past months has been crazy. Both bad and good. I hit rock bottom I think in April or the month before and ended up hospitalized. I have been slowly making steps to heal from my trauma and it been amazing. I still have my downs but I have more hope for the very first time in years of getting out of this. I’m not sure if I’ll be writing soon since I am experiencing some burnout and writer’s block, but I wanted to go ahead and give an update for anyone who has post notification on and are waiting and wondering about why it’s taking me long to post anything. Again, I’m sorry for the wait but I hope this clears things up. ☺️

Can I request Jealous Boom!Sonic and reader?
The reader is really close to Shadow and lives very close to him so they frequently hang out. It can be either that reader and sonic are already in a relationship or they’re still pining for one another!
Sonic goes through the whole “What does Shadow have that I don’t” thing and it’s just fluff and crack.
Sonic boom is my comfort show so I got very happy to see that your requests are open for it!!
Blue With Jealousy
(Boom!Sonic x Doctor!Reader)
A/n: This can be seen as a part two of my other Boom!Sonic x Doctor!Reader.

You didn't mean to do it again. Accidentally make a new… friend? At least deep down, you hoped Shadow considered you a friend as you thought him yours.
In your defense, it’s not your fault—once again. When you became a doctor, you swore an oath to help people regardless of background.
Hell, you’ve even patched up Dr. Eggman at rare times. You would’ve helped him more if your friends hadn’t always sent him flying away. Even at rare times, when he wasn’t sent flying, whenever you tried to help, he’d yell at you to buzz off before going away faster than you could catch up.
On the day you first saw Sonic fighting Shadow, your heart dropped quite a bit. You knew Sonic was capable. You never doubted him once. However, it looked like Shadow was just as capable as well. He’s also able to teleport.
You were tending to your friends' injuries. Your movements were swift, still, calm, and calculated as you helped your friends individually. However, you felt anything but level-headed and collected on the inside.
Your heart was pounding so hard you could feel the thumps against your ribcage. You can hear your heart beating in your ears, intertwined with fighting in the background.
You never doubted yourself in the past about being a valuable member of Seaside Island’s heroes, but for the first time, you felt useless despite your knowledge of medicine. You hated having to acknowledge the fact that you have your limits. You only know how to heal, not fight. Although it never bothered you in the past, knowing if you acted recklessly and tried something, you’d only end up injuring yourself and possibly someone else. Then you’d all be in trouble, being the person all your friends depended on to treat them.
But this time was different.
When you finished helping Tails, you turned to look at Sonic, who finally got the upper hand, and things seemed to be turning around in his favor. Your muscles relaxed, and you felt like you could breathe properly. The atmosphere changed around you and your friends, and you all felt relieved.
When Sonic landed the last hit, it made you recoil at the impact Shadow took. Your reaction surprised you, considering you have never felt bad whenever Eggman got his ass handed to him. And yet, for some reason, someone who's caused more havoc at just the first time you’ve seen him than the multiple times you’ve come across Eggman was able to make you react that way.
With a promise from Shadow to get back at Sonic, he disappeared.
You could hear the little shouts of victory from your friends, but your attention was on the area where Shadow once stood, and your mind went back to his injuries.
Not even a second later, with a small sigh, you started walking.
You’re a healer at heart, after all, through and through. You didn’t need to second guess yourself that you wanted to look for Shadow to tend to his wounds, although he was attacking your group just seconds before.
Not a few steps later, Sonic ran to your side with a tilt of his head in your line of sight, “Where you goin’? Meh Burgers is that way. What? That tired you can’t even walk in the same direction as everyone else?” He teased, pointing towards your friends making their way to eat and celebrate.
“It’s fine, I’m not hungry. Besides, I need to check on some civilians and ask if anyone is hurt, just in case. See you next time.” You calmly said, trying to make sure you weren’t coming off as suspicious.
It was a believable lie. You’ve done so multiple times in the past. If an attack happened, you asked if anyone was harmed, and if not, you led them to safety before focusing on your friends if you didn’t have time to check on any citizens beforehand, definitely afterward.
You would feel guilty about lying about checking on other folks to seek out Shadow if you didn’t already know beforehand that everyone else was okay.
You continued walking, ensuring you didn’t seem nervous or look back.
Sonic was left with his shoulders slumped at the disappointment of this perfect excuse for you to be around him, not work. Watching your figure go away, he couldn’t help but feel that something was off.
Unable to figure it out, he returned to catch up with the rest.
Sonic caught up beside Amy when she asked, “Where’s (y/n)?” She looked behind, trying to spot you.
“Looking for the people who ran away to see if they’re hurt,” he said as if it were normal. However, some underlying turmoil surprised him, and he didn’t understand why.
That was until Amy pointed out, “Without looking at your injuries before leaving?” Eyes wide.
That’s when the realization hit him hard. You’re always on him about staying safe or ensuring he knows to relax and not overdo it. And this time, you didn’t even scan his body at all.
He looked back to where you were no longer there, subconsciously, one hand rubbing his arm where a bruise formed.
You had started running once you were out of sight to find Shadow.
You searched until you came across a cave. Out of breath, you slowed down and continued walking. Seeing the glowing pinkish cryptic drawings and writing carved all over the walls of this dark—almost depressing—cave, you felt pretty sure you’d find the emo red and black hedgehog.
“You have some nerve coming out here on your own.”
Speak of the devil.
You looked around until Shadow teleported right behind you. A yelp left your lips as you jumped back in fright.
It's too late to consider backing out now.
You breathed to calm down, “I saw you take quite a couple of hits back there.”
You immediately realized how bad that sounded by the way his expression worsened. “I’m a doctor! I’d like to take a look to see if you need medical aid.” You quickly explained.
A ‘tch’ left Shadow’s mouth, “Do I look weak to you? The last time I saw you, you were running around like a headless chicken while your friends,” he emphasized, making the word sound like an insult somehow, “were the ones fighting.”
His words reminded you of the new painful insecurities that formed hours ago, and you started to feel angry. However, without allowing anger to cloud your consciousness, you decided it would be best not to feed into the tiny spark that could escalate and combust into roaring flames. So you continued, “I know you aren’t weak. Regardless, I took an oath when I became a doctor to help people without discrimination. That includes you, Shadow. Even though you terrorized many people and attacked my friends, I still intend to stay loyal to my oath.”
The expression and gaze Shadow gave you probably would’ve made you tremble, especially knowing what he’s capable of. To top it all off, you were in his territory, and your friends did not know where you were. And yet, it felt like something just burst into life inside you. Your face held a determined look, and your stance was confident -unlike how you had been the last time he saw you. Your eyes held a fire that didn’t snuff out by his glaring eyes, and your gaze never looked away from him.
He broke the silence with a groan, “Very well then. Judging by your look, you’re not going to leave anytime soon. You might as well get it over with so you can leave. Any funny business, however,” Shadow raised his fist, clarifying what would happen as he went to sit down.
You would be lying if you said you thought this would work out and that he would accept your help, even if it were begrudgingly.
You tried to conceal your happiness over your victory by trying to calm down; however, you’re sure Shadow saw this anyway. You walk before him and place your bag beside you to start working.
“You’re doing this out of obligation?” Shadow asked.
Keeping focus on finding how many injuries he may have, you responded, “I’m no fighter.”
“Obviously.” Shadow interrupted.
Annoyance aside, you continued, “I’ve always been drawn towards learning how to heal people. I would’ve been doing this regardless if I went to school for medicine or went a different route and became an herbal doctor instead.” A genuine and gentle smile crept up on your face. You were so focused on the work that you missed how Shadow looked at you.
Ever since that day, you would seek him out, which is surprising because you’re more introverted. When you first came back to visit Shadow, he asked why you bothered coming back; you went with the excuse that since he’s far away from where most people live and you have no idea if he is doing well since Shadow keeps to himself, you planned to visit him now and then. Which isn’t a lie; you do mean it. You just left out that you enjoyed his company more and more as time passed.
If only you hadn’t gotten so lost in the moment, you’d realize Sonic and your friends were getting suspicious of how much you found excuses for not being able to join them.
Eventually, Sonic had enough one day and ran to your home to confront you.
“(Y/n), we need to talk.” He barged in without even knocking in advance. Before he can continue, he sees not just you looking at him wide-eyed, but Shadow is also there.
“(Y/n)!” Sonic is about to attack when your arms are wide in front of Shadow. Are you protecting him?
“Hold up, I’m not in danger!”
Sonic stops right in front of you, stumped. A familiar voice is heard before anyone can say anything, “Hey (Y/n), you home?” Knuckles takes a peek into your home. “Am I interrupting something?” He looks between the three of you. You’re confused at the look Knuckles is giving until it finally clicks. Your back is almost all against Shadow, while Sonic is a little too up close to you. Face warming up, you panicked and pushed both of them away from you, “No! Nothing was happening!”
Knuckles gave you a face that he didn’t believe you, “I’m not the brightest tool in the drawer, but that’s not really convincing, you know.”
Before you can defend yourself, you hear the rest of your friends making their way to your house.
You want to scream.
The tension in the air feels thick after explaining everything to everyone.
Tails is the first to speak up, “There’s no way you’re actually going to let him live here, are you?”
“Absolutely not,” Sonic said as if he was not letting there be any other option.
“What if this is some kind of plan to get close to our healer, and when (Y/n) least expects it, bam!” Sticks waved her arms around dramatically, “They're gone!”
“If Shadow wanted to harm and get rid of me, he would’ve already done so when he had the chance multiple times.”
Although what you said was reasonable, it didn’t ease their minds. Knuckles was skeptical. Sticks and Sonic were glaring at Shadow -unbeknownst to you, Shadow was sending a smirk toward Sonic, which made him more sour than before. And Amy and Tails were worried.
Desperate, you turn to Amy, “Shadow lives alone away from the village with no one else around. This can be a good thing; he won't be completely isolated but not overcrowded.” Your house was a perfect distance away from the village. You had complete privacy but weren’t too far from not being able to show up on time in case of an emergency.
Thankfully, Amy seemed to have taken the bait: “This can be a good thing, you guys. Shadow has made a new friend who can be by his side.”
Amy liked to believe that there could be good in everybody. So it seemed worth the shot if being around you helps Shadow be less lonely and not attack others anymore -or at least not trying to ‘destroy’ anyone.
Amy’s words seem to have worked more than your own. Most of your friends looked less tense—all except one blue hedgehog.
“No way. How can we just leave (Y/n) alone with Shadow believing he won’t try something?”
Amy quickly replied, “We know they’ve both been hanging out for some time, and (Y/n) was always left unharmed. " She then had a small smirk. “And Shadow didn’t deny (Y/n) being his friend.”
Everyone shifted their gaze to Shadow when Amy pointed it out. They caught a glimpse of shock on his face for a second before he looked away with a frown, groaning.
Sonic, stressed that he wasn’t winning this argument, began tapping his foot on the floor. He had one hand on his hip and the other pressed against his forehead.
He had a feeling he was not going to like any of this.
And sure enough, Sonic was right.
He couldn’t decide whether it was better to find out that you and Shadow had become friends.
Because now that Sonic and the rest of your friends knew, the two of you weren’t hiding anymore.
He hears how you laugh sometimes around Shadow the same way your laugh makes Sonic feel enamored, especially if the reason for it is because of him. The gentle smile you send to the people in your heart now includes Shadow. Whenever an event or get-together comes up, you go out of your way to ask him to join in.
Lost in his thoughts, Sonic hadn’t realized he was quite literally speed-walking in a circle as he was muttering under his breath until Amy interrupted.
“Sonic, you’re going to end up digging yourself into the ground at this rate.”
Sonic stopped and looked down. Sure enough, he accidentally dug a deep enough circle to reach his ankles.
“Oops.”
“It’s best not to assume anything about anyone but Sonic. Are you jealous that Shadow is hanging around (Y/n)?”
“No, why would I be jealous of Shadow?” He answered too quickly. “What does he have that I don’t?”
“Style?” Knuckles pondered.
“He can assert dominance in a fight?” Sticks adds.
“Teleportation?” Tails joins.
Little by little, Sonic’s frown worsens.
“I’ve heard that some people are into the category of men Shadow might fall in. Someone rugged, bitter, and cold, but deep down, they’re caring and sweet to the people they consider dear to them. And once you find out their backstory made them that way, it all makes sense.” Amy exclaimed, her hands clasped together as she looked lost in her world, making it seem like the most romantic thing ever. She snapped out of it before thinking out loud, “I wonder if that's (Y/n)’s type.”
Sonic had enough, “I’m rugged. I’m so rugged!”
Before anyone could say anything, Sonic ran off.
Proud of herself, Amy spoke, “I hope that finally gets him to do something about his feelings. (Y/n) too.”
I'm not jealous. There's no reason for me to be jealous.
How the hell did Sonic end up in this situation? Oh yeah.
He decided to challenge Shadow.
How did it end up being a swimming competition? Don’t ask.
The regret hit Sonic at the same capacity as his speed. He hears the sound of someone jumping into the water before he passes out. It’s only complete darkness for a moment before he’s coughing up salty water, opening his eyes expecting to see his savior, you. So imagine his shock when he sees Shadow; Sonic starts to panic. “What just happened? Please tell me you didn’t kiss me.”
A growl of annoyance leaves Shadow’s lips as his fist raises to punch Sonic when you gently grab his wrist to stop him. “Let’s not punch the patient right back into unconsciousness, okay?”
Shadow rolls his eyes but still complies as he starts to walk away. “I think there’s something that you need to confess to him, (Y/n) before that coward does something else foolish that gets him killed for sure.”
Those words send nerves running through your body, but hopefully, what you have planned will help you express your feelings.
“Tell me what?” Sonic turns to look at you, and he’s surprised by what he sees. There’s a look of vulnerability on your face as you look down at something you’re holding in your hands; he looks down at your hands to see them slightly shaking; before he asks if you’re okay, you open them up and reveal it to him. It is a simple, pretty bracelet with seven tiny pink seashells. “I probably should have given this to you before, but I wanted the gift to be a surprise with the two of us alone.” You give the bracelet to Sonic, “I don’t believe in superstition, but I heard that it’s supposed to protect you in the water and bring you good luck.”
“You made this for me?” Sonic says—more of a statement than a question.
He connects the dots: Shadow saying you need to confess, the look on your face, your shaking hands, the gift, and your intentions behind the gift, both spoken and unspoken. At that moment, he knows that his feelings for you are reciprocating.
A/n: Did I make more references in here like last time? Yes I did. Did I make a reference from one of the Avengers movies? Yes I did. Did I make reference to Sonic X? Yes I did. Can anyone stop me? No. 😈😂

Hello! I hope I'm sending requests right, because it's rare that I do these. Could you do a Boom!Sonic going on a date with someone who's an introvert and/or has social anxiety? As someone who struggles with this myself, I'm curious to see how that would go; how he'd figure out why they're so quiet and get them out of their shell a bit. I understand if you can't take this request. If you can take your time, no rush! I hope you have a good day/night!💙
Boom!Sonic going on a date with someone who's an introvert / has social anxiety
(Boom!Sonic x Reader)
The first time meeting Sonic:
You decided to stroll around the village to get to know this new place you will now know better as your home. Then you hear screams. Running towards the sound, you see mechanical bees and crabs attacking a burger joint called “Meh Burgers.”
Ready to fight, you unsheathed your katana and used your power to speed it up. One by one, you sliced a crab swiftly with precision.
“What the..!”
You looked up to see a bald, egg-shaped headed man with a mustache way too big not to be considered comical in a floating machine.
“If it’s not one thing, it’s another. Besides, you’re not even Sonic or his other rodent friends.” The man speaking then put a hand on his chin, thinking. “Or are you? Bah! I can’t remember; who cares anyway. If you want to try and be a hero, you can go ahead and die like one. Attack them!” He pointed towards you.
Looking around, the crabs and bees started surrounding you.
“Not so fast, egghead!” Sonic ran in but then started slipping and looked down. “Ice?” His eyes followed the trail, and it ended with you—someone with a scarf covering half their face and a katana in hand. Before he can do anything, he hears you shout, “Falling snow, adorn my night!”
With a slash in the air with your katana, what looked like a snowstorm surrounded you, leaving you unharmed, unlike the robots that were once surrounding you, now being slashed and beaten around. The storm you created calmed and disappeared once all the robots were destroyed. Unaware that Sonic was stumped in place, he had awe on his face as he was still looking at you.
You just did that all on your own. Sonic has seen other people with powers but hasn’t seen anyone do something quite like what you did.
With a shout of frustration, the man you now knew as Egghead went off, “You’ll pay for that! I hope you’re ready to be paranoid for the rest of your life. Shadows in the corner of your eye, a creak in the floorboard, umm.” He scratches his head, but Sonic spin attacks the eggmobile before he can continue. “Can it already.”
“You just became my new enemy!” Egghead yells as he’s sent flying away.
Once he’s out of sight, you sigh, putting away your katana.
The purpose of going out for a walk was to relax and take a break from spending hours settling into your new home. Not even making it past day one being here, you’ve made an enemy. Granted, you’re confident you can take care of yourself, but just because you know how to fight doesn’t mean you want to go around looking for trouble on purpose.
You tense up when you feel someone tap your shoulder. You turn and see the blue hedgehog that got rid of Egghead. “Those were some sick moves there, and I didn’t even need to step in to help you. Name’s Sonic. And what’s the name of the Ice Prince/Princess.”
In retrospect, you knew off the bat he wasn’t an awful person, and he means well, but your mind shows no mercy. The way he has no problem with direct eye contact with you has you looking anywhere but him. His honest compliment gives a perfect opening to strike up a conversation and possibly make a new friend. Still, experiences of the past haunt you, making you fearful of slipping up and regret saying anything at all. And the way he asked for your name has you panicking. Did Sonic mean to make it sound flirtatious? If he did, that makes the pressure of responding even worse. If he didn’t, you’d feel like an absolute fool and start mentally berating yourself for even thinking of that. What if he called you Ice Prince/Princess because you already came across as a cold individual? You’ve had people tell you that on multiple occasions, more than you would like to admit. Even if he didn’t mean it that way, your mind leads you to these pessimistic thoughts.
He may not think that now, but what if he does later?
You knew you accidentally took too long to respond when you heard Sonic. “Umm. Are you okay?”
Great. Now, he probably thinks that something’s wrong with me.
Panicking, you couldn’t take it anymore.
Sonic is taken aback when suddenly you’re gone, but there is a frozen fog where your feet once stood, running away into an alley.
“Wait!” He tries running after you without stepping on the trail of ice. But then he comes to an intersection where a massive mess of ice and snow is left behind, and the trail has ended. It gave Sonic whiplash how every move you made during the fight looked calculated and confident, ruthless with your attacks, with a steeliness in your eyes. Still, once the fight was over, it was as if you became an entirely different person. Eyes shift anywhere but him, your thumb scratching and rubbing the handle of your blade where your hand was placed, and slight sweat begins forming on your forehead that wasn’t there when you were fighting.
Their powers consist of ice; isn’t that supposed to help with heat? Sonic thought to himself.
Disappointed, he looks around one last time before running off.
You’re grateful for this because not even a moment later, the sneeze you were holding comes out on its own. You knew you couldn't outrun him, so you caused the mess on purpose to make it seem you completely vanished when, in reality, you were hiding behind a dumpster.
How you two become friends:
If Sonic thought it would be a one-time thing, he would have been dead wrong. The few times when there was a moment when it seemed an opponent had the upper hand, you’d show up out of nowhere to help and then disappear. Of course, with this happening, Sonic’s whole gang knew about you now.
Most were convinced you were a good person, just not the best at socializing. Sticks, on the other hand, was still on edge.
But that didn’t stop Amy when she saw you coming out of a store with a bag. She instantly lit up; she and the rest of her friends hardly saw you around when they went… well, anywhere. She had a clue that you probably struggled socially, so maybe she can help you and become friends.
So she walked up to you and said, “Hello there.”
You jumped slightly in surprise before turning around, “Hi.” You felt nerves prick your hands slightly, but it seemed like thanks to the fact that you had an idea of how much of a sweetheart Amy is -as long as you didn’t purposely do or say something rude- you weren’t as skittish around her compared to the day when you first encountered Sonic.
“Thanks for helping me and my friends whenever we’re in a rough situation.”
You shook your head, “It’s no problem.”
They seem nervous yet gentle. Sonic must’ve meant this when he said they’re different when not fighting. Amy thought to herself.
“I’m sorry for always running off.” You carefully chose your following words before Amy beat you to it.
“Interacting with others is hard for you?”
Even though she asked, you can tell it was more of a statement than a question. Some of her warmth and gentleness rubbed off and made it easier to look at her as you nodded.
“How about we become friends, and I’ll slowly introduce you to everyone else?”
You’ve made some friends in the past, but sometimes life happens, and you part ways. You’ve met people in the past who you called friends, but as time passed, you noticed it seemed like they invited you into their already tight-knit group out of pity. And you’ve had people you thought were friends but made you feel small in your life.
However, for some reason, it didn’t feel like Amy was asking you out of pity. You knew she was a good person, and you couldn’t help but feel like once you said yes, there was no way she would let you drift away so easily. So you took the leap of faith and said yes.
The day you were forced to have to face Sonic was an accident. You and Amy were sitting on the couch talking about who she should introduce you to when Sonic just barged in, and his sight landed on you, forgetting what he was initially there for.
“It’s you!” He ran and sat next to you. “Talk about a cold shoulder. You’re hanging out with Amy but don’t have enough time to spare for me? I’m hurt.” He says dramatically, his hands clutching the area where his heart is.
“Sonic.” Amy chides. Annoyed already that things aren’t going the way she hoped. She wanted to talk to her friends about your social anxiety and introvert tendencies before they talk to you.
“It’s fine, Amy.” You assured her. If Sonic is still making jokes with you, then maybe that means he didn’t take you running off multiple times as an offense. “I’m sorry for always running away. I’m not the best at talking to people, so please don’t think it’s something personal.”
Sonic waves you off as he lays back with his arms behind his head and his feet propped up on the table. “It’s fine, I get it. You couldn’t look at or talk to me; you started fidgeting with your sword, sweating, and running away. So that means despite being able to produce ice at will, you just couldn’t stay cool enough not to have the hots for me. Am I right, or am I right?”
You swear you felt yourself malfunctioning at that moment, “What?”
Amy smacked Sonic’s feet off the table so hard he almost fell off from where he was sitting.
“Sonic.” Her tone of warning.
“Yes, I heard you the first time; I don’t have amnesia; I know my name, Amy.”
You thank whatever gods are up there that you wear a scarf.
Sonic helping you out of your comfort zone:
Amy would inform him about what she’s learned from you about your social anxiety. He does like you. Even though he tends to be blunt, rude, and shortsighted about others' feelings, being around you might help him become more considerate of others' emotions.
But he is not perfect, so don’t expect him to be 100% a saint.
Sonic decided to take over introductions as his duty as a hero of the people. Or so he says.
Did Amy agree? No.
Does Sonic care? No.
When the day came, you decided you were ready to meet the next person in their group; Sonic was ecstatic for you to meet his best friend, Tails. He told you to wait home, and he’d bring him over. He did not tell you that they were both coming over on hoverboards.
You couldn’t help but notice how much fun they looked.
“You’re (Y/n), yes? Sonic said you’ll be joining us today.” The fox you assume is Tails comes up next to you with a hoverboard in one arm before handing it over to you.
Before you can say that you don’t know how to ride one, Tails continues, “Don’t think that just because you never knew before means you still can’t learn now. I’ll teach you.”
As silly as it may sound, you can’t help but feel like you just gained a younger brother.
And that’s how Sonic was getting you comfortable with meeting more of his friends, making these outings fun enough for you to forget about society and live in the moment.
The moment he knew he was in love with you:
Shadow was attacking you and your friends. Well, now, only you since he knocked out the rest. Amy already sent a request for backup from Sonic before she passed out. You were doing the best you could to hold out. You can parry some attacks and sense when he teleports, but the problem is his speed. You can cloak yourself into a frozen fog when he runs at you, but he can still get a few hits. You’ve only been able to do more defense moves than offense. You can use your ability to go faster, but it’s not super speed like Sonic.
When you were wondering if you might fail your friends, Sonic arrived. And when the battle was over, you stood in silence for a moment when, for some reason, a giggle left your lips. Which then turned into laughter.
Sonic asked if you were okay when he saw how you looked.
Your scarf had fallen off from your fight with Shadow, showing your face for the first time. Your smile was big yet still held a gentleness like your voice.
And your laughter.
Whenever you laughed before, it was usually just a closed-mouth giggle. The most Sonic could get out of you was when you placed your hand over your scarf where your mouth was to keep yourself from bursting out. But now here you are. Laughing out loud unapologetically without holding back.
You looked beautiful even with a messy hairstyle, dirtied clothes, and bruises. There was a sunset with a chaotic mess of ice surrounding you.
An ice-ability user with a warm heart.
“After everything we’ve been through, I have no idea how we’re still alive; it makes no sense!” You laughed. Your laughter started feeling contagious to Sonic, and he joined in.
How he would confess to you:
As much as Sonic makes it seem like he’s not a sappy person when he puts in the work, he’s exposed as actually being a softy. He wants to make this special, and he does.
You feel drained and desperately need to recharge. You care and love your friends, but if you don’t care for yourself when you feel this way, you start getting irritated and feel a bit snappy. You’ve done a good job holding back from doing or saying anything you know you don’t mean, but it still scares you now and then that it might happen one day. Yes, arguments have happened amongst your friends, but you try your best to be the neutral side.
Saying your goodbyes, you head home. However, once you are away from your friends, Sonic runs beside you. “I made plans today for just the two of us.”
“I’m sorry, Sonic, but I’m not in the mood for anything hectic right now.”
Sonic panicked, “You’re going home to rest up, right? Well, it just so happens that my plans involve both of us just slowing down for once.”
You blinked. “Did I hear that correctly? Sonic T. Hedgehog, ‘the fastest being alive,’ Mr. ‘can’t be tamed,’ Mr. ‘can’t slow down’ has made plans to take it easy for once? Is it the end of the world?” You then poked his shoulder. “Is this secretly Metal Sonic with a new upgrade from Dr. Eggman? A new ploy to let our guard down and destroy everything on Seaside Island?”
“Ha ha, very funny. You know, you’re starting to sound like Sticks,” He took your hand to hold in his and started leading you away. “Don’t underestimate me. I can be unpredictable when I want to be—slowing down? No problem. We’ll start by just walking down to Meh Burgers. No running.”
“I look forward to seeing if you can back up your words.”
“Challenge accepted.”
Sure enough, you and Sonic walked to Meh Burgers hand in hand without running. Before you mentally prepare to speak to the cashier, Sonic says, “You can go ahead and find us a table; I’ll order.”
“Are you sure?”
“It’s not a problem for me.” He waved, reassuring you before he walked away.
You find a table to sit at and wait for Sonic. Unfortunately, your mind starts to take a cynical path. You chose a table that you hoped seemed inconspicuous, but it still doesn’t change the fact that there’s not really a hiding spot in an open area like this.
Did you stand out negatively? Why does it feel like a giant neon light is pointing at you? Is there someone here talking about how weird you stick out? Are some of them pitying you, thinking you’re eating here alone?
Distracted by your overwhelming thoughts, you don’t sense Sonic arriving with the food. “Everybody else is busy in their own world.” You jump slightly, hearing his voice. “If you listen closely, you can hear them talking about something they got going on.” He says as he places down the tray.
When you listen, you hear conversations about visiting family, going to a theatre, and shopping. Your thoughts and emotions slow, and you feel like you can breathe properly. You miss Sonic's gentle smile before he changes the subject to something he knows makes you happy and allows your mind to drift away from negative thoughts.
You and Sonic are walking hands together to the beach. Sonic has seen more than enough sunsets, but this time, he needs it now more than ever to help ease his nerves and confess to you.
Sitting down, you noticed that something was off with him, but instead of asking immediately, you decided to watch the sunset and wait awhile for him to hopefully feel comfortable enough to talk about it—emphasis on hopefully.
He takes a breath before taking out a Starfruit, “Do you want to share?”
Others may think it's a small gesture; however, you recall reading a story and telling Sonic about a scene where a character mentions that if two people share one, their destinies become intertwined. They will remain a part of each other's lives no matter what.
Your heartbeat quickens, and your face warms up, but not because of anxiety.
He knew you needed to rest and recharge, so the fastest person alive slowed down for you. He also knew how nice-looking restaurants make you paranoid about whether you're overdressed or underdressed and whether you're showing proper etiquette, so he took you to a burger joint. He knows how you rehearse every interaction with a cashier multiple times in your head so you don't screw up and make a fool out of yourself, so he went and did it for you. He noticed that your mind had taken over and nearly drowned you with your thoughts, and he helped pull you out. And right now, in this moment, he remembered a small detail in a story you’ve only talked about once.
“I’m not the best at talking about my feelings, but I hope you know what I’m trying to say.”
For once, without a doubt, you hold Sonic’s free hand by the wrist to gently pull it towards you and use an index finger to draw a heart.
Sonic lets out a breath of relief before whispering, “That’s good.” He had a big smile on his face.

Doctor’s Orders
(Boom!Sonic x Doctor!Reader)
A/N: I suck at summaries. Just a bunch of fluff. I'm sorry if this sounds ooc. I might make this a series. The dividers were created by @pixxiecup I know they said their free to use with no credit but I want to give thanks and tag them here anyway.
Warning: Just one part that is just a pinch suggestive but nothing extreme.

This was getting ridiculous. It was one thing to help Sonic, Tails, and the rest of your friends -mostly Sonic and Tails- with a sprain, scratches, or a cut here and there, but this was starting to get out of hand. It shouldn't have been surprising to see them with an injury that needed stitching, bandaging, or even a cast once you learned they were considered Seaside Island’s heroes. But as time went by, it always seemed their injuries were getting worse than the last time you saw them. Initially, you thought it was only because of Eggman. At least that way, they had an excuse.
Hell no.
A crazed circus man that bought equipment from said man, Frog-whatcha-mccall-it cult (?) trapped in Sticks’ basement (?), meteors, Sonic being trapped with Eggman in a temple while everyone around was too busy arguing about being the leader, -the conversation was going nowhere and being the only person with no knowledge or experience with fighting you were about to leave as you were announcing that you would be waiting back at Tails’ home with medical equipment ready when the ground beneath all of you caved in and you got involved regardless- and you don’t even want to start talking about when Knuckles was purposely injuring himself to ‘shift the balance of luck in the universe.’
As more time passed, the number of ridiculous reasons for injuries seemed to be balanced with the actual reasonable excuses. Not that you weren’t already stressed out with some of your friends’ reckless decisions when they were up against an enemy.
Cough, cough. It was mainly Sonic and Tails, with Knuckles in third place—surprisingly—cough, cough.
You came to Seaside Island thinking a small yet gorgeous place like this would not be hectic. And best of all, there was a job opening where you could help people. You should have known there was a reason there was a job opening that somebody else hadn’t already snatched up so quickly before you could even apply. You should have seen an even bigger sign when you were hired quickly. Looking back at the day you graduated from university, you remembered how you almost cried tears of joy that the worst of it all -late nights, all-nighters, missing out on events, get-togethers, friendships, and relationships- had come to pass. All you had to worry about was being able to find an opening and the usual stresses that being a doctor would come with. All that you felt more than ready and determined to face head-on.
Oh, how naive you were.
You haven’t even lived on Seaside Island nearly as long as you have lived on campus in university. Yet, everything that has happened so far has given you more heart attacks and stress than any homework, studying session, or test combined. But then again, it’s not exactly your fault for falling for a place like Seaside Island that looks so deceivingly peaceful. Just like it’s not your fault for thinking assuming your now close friends would only get injured because of some foes they’ll have to come face to face with.
You can’t help but find the humor in it all. The fact that you weren’t expecting to make some new friends the same day you finally had moved to said island. Just like you were surprised to find out later that they were this island’s heroes, you assumed that it was just by chance that you met them and talked to them on day one. You didn’t think they would all actively reach out to you -for any other reason than just medical aid- to hang out and become friends with you. You didn’t mean to become close to them, just like you didn’t mean for word to get around the island, and people started identifying you as the group’s doctor. And you didn’t mean for people to start associating you with the group of heroes.
It just so happened that you were the first person they went to whenever someone was hurt. You somehow became a close friend to these famous names despite not being super fast, strong, a technical genius, or having other skills or quirks that made you stick out like the rest. You had also become a ‘hero’ in the eyes of the citizens living on Seaside Island, despite a few other doctors and nurses also living there. You became your friend group’s doctor, although you have not signed a contract stating that you were only their doctor. Your company doesn’t seem to mind somehow. You guessed that’s the perk of being considered the island’s ‘heroes.’
You would be lying if you said there weren’t multiple times where you muttered under your breath that you were only a doctor, not a hero. So much so that it feels like it’s become just as much of your catchphrase as Sonic’s “gotta go fast.” You’d also be lying if there weren't moments when you thought that maybe moving to this island was a mistake. But, deep down, you know that it isn’t. You care and love your friends to death. You never had friends quite like them, you never expected people like them to want to become friends with someone like you, and you especially never had bonds with others as strong as the ones you have with them. No matter how much you may complain, scold, and yell on a few occasions, you’ve never felt more at home.
You’ve also never felt more like a ‘mother’ -so Sonic likes to joke- than moments like these.
Sonic and Tails are sitting on a couch battered to the point that you’re pretty sure it is more than normal—whatever is considered normal at this point. And if that’s not telling, then definitely the way they’re both avoiding your gaze as you stand in front of them, arms crossed, foot tapping, and glaring at them.
“Do I even want to ask?”
Sonic perked up, “Oh, how kind of you to ask what happened!”
A sigh leaves your lips as you open your bag to work on them. Tuning out whatever Sonic is saying. Whether Sonic is retelling what transpired or is lying out of his ass and making up a story, -he’s done it in the past- for the sake of your sanity, you decide not to bother this time around. Most of the time, you end up chiding them, especially if they’re lying. This brings up the repetition of you reminding them why lying to doctors is an awful decision. But based on the fact that you don’t hear Tails butting into Sonic’s explanation with a slightly raised voice to say that that’s not happened, and instead is calmly telling the story from his perspective, providing proof that he can attest to Sonic’s words. As much as you wish, you can always depend on Tails to speak the truth when incidents like these occur, like how you thought when you were getting to everyone, you couldn’t. As time passed, you learned the hard way that boy has picked up a few bad habits from Sonic. Lying about his wounds is one of them. Thankfully, it's not as bad as the blue hedgehog.
The entire ‘conversation’ between you three was just you perfectly timing when to hum, nod, and pretend you were listening to them as you finished patching them up. On the other hand, Sonic finally catches up to this as Tails finishes speaking and points this out.
“Hey. Were you even listening?”
“Not really,” you responded bluntly.
“Hey! Aren’t you our doctor? We’re supposed to tell you these things, right?”
Ignoring the warmth creeping into your heart as Sonic put not just his trust but also his and your guy’s friends' health in your hands, saying, ‘Our doctor,’ you frowned and looked at him and Tails as you stood up, hands on your hips. They both sheepishly smiled, knowing what was coming.
“I don’t know. Should I listen to you guys? Just like how well you guys listen to me regarding your well-being?”
There was no actual bite behind your tone or attitude. Sonic and Tails both knew it. Still, that didn’t mean they didn’t feel some guilt, knowing the stress that weighed on you by being their doctor. Or at least, if not Sonic, then surely Tails.
“We really are sorry (y/n). We do appreciate everything you’ve done for everybody since you arrived.”
Hearing Tails’ words and genuineness, the frown on your face disappeared, and your hands fell from your hips. You sighed.
Damn him for being adorable.
“I understand there will be moments where you guys are bound to get hurt. But that doesn't mean go ahead and be reckless since you will get harmed anyway.”
Tails’ smiled and nodded, “We understand.”
Sensing the conversation would end, you asked, “Are you going to be working on something?”
“That’s right!” Excitement shone in his eyes.
“Make sure you work sitting and relaxed. Do nothing with a lot of movement, but don’t stay too long sitting up. Take breaks, lay down, rest, and don’t push it.”
“I won’t.” Too thrilled to head straight to work on a gadget, he ran towards the door.
“No running.”
“Right, sorry.” He chuckled, rubbing his neck before closing the door.
Right as he left, you immediately turned, “And you!”
Your sight set on Sonic, who tried sneaking away, “What?”
You swiftly approached him and grabbed his wrist. “You’re lying down,” you said.
You dragged him towards the couch before he yanked his arm away, “Why does Tails get to go scot-free? And what’s up with the switch up all of a sudden?”
“Your wounds are more severe than Tails’; that’s what’s up.”
Your reasoning was full of shit, and you knew it. But damn do you need to find a way to make Sonic slow down for once, “Now lay down.” You pointed towards the couch.
Sonic faked a groan, “You know how it is (y/n). Got a reputation to keep up. ‘Fastest being alive.’” He signaled his thumbs to the door while scooting around you. But before he could go any further, you grabbed him by the shoulders and pushed him onto the couch.
“Doctor’s orders.” Your brows furrowed, and your voice stern.
For you, it was just a second or two. For the fastest being alive, it felt like more than two seconds.
The view of you above him arms out, hands firm on him, sitting him down, demanding tone, and your face—he already knew you were quite the sight, but he’d be lying if he said the upset look on your face didn’t look especially gorgeous on you.
Sonic played it off by lightly swatting your hands away, crossing his arms, and looking away, “Fine, fine. Doctor’s orders, I guess.” He shrugged, hoping that his face wouldn’t give away how warm it was starting to feel.
Smiling and satisfied with this little victory, you nodded and walked away to get a pillow, blanket, and a book.
Once the blue blur was lying comfortably with a pillow and blanket, you sat by him and opened the book in your hands.
“Are you going to read me a bedtime story, Mom? I’m too old for that.” Sonic said dryly.
“No. I don’t trust you won’t start running again when I leave, so I’m staying until you fall asleep.”
“Seriously?” He rolled his eyes, not meaning it, and honestly didn’t mind.
“Seriously.” You smiled and started reading the book in your head so Sonic could fall asleep without any disturbance. Unknowingly to you, he wished you spoke the words under your breath so he could have an excuse to listen to your voice.
You open your eyes and find yourself lying on the couch with a pillow and blanket. Your mind is foggy and confused. You remember falling asleep upright while reading a book when suddenly you jerked up. Realizing the pillow and blanket on you is the same one you gave to Sonic. Looking around, he was nowhere to be found. Calling out and looking for him would be pointless; you already knew he was probably up and running again.
Shaking your head, you wondered,
Maybe I should contact the previous doctor who worked on this island and ask why they left.
