But war took it all away. For the past two years, the bombing hasn’t stopped. We lost our home, our memories, and people we loved. My mother was diagnosed with cancer because of the genocide we’re living in, and there’s no treatment here. We now live in a tent, with no income, no electricity, no clean water, no food. The borders are shut, prices are sky-high, and aid isn’t reaching us. We’re surviving on hope, and even that is running thin. I’m sharing this with the world because maybe someone will hear me. Here are my little children… sitting around a small fire we lit in the darkness, surrounded by the deafening sounds of bombing and the constant roar of warplanes.

We try to cook them something—no matter how unhealthy or contaminated—just to ease their hunger before they sleep, trembling from fear and pain.

I just discovered two of the people on the campaign I created were murdered. One of them was a child.

I feel like an absolute ghoul posting these conversations online but I need people to understand what is happening. I've been talking to Abdul and his friends almost every day since last year. I know them.

Every time the messages stop I know I may never even find out what happened to them. When and if they start again, I find out who is left.
