Art Fight piece number 2 for @aiden-esteban

This is the piece I'm proudest of this year. It was done entirely digitally in CSP (a program I am still learning) and finished in only about 2 hours.

I was very painterly with the figure and background, taking a lot of inspiration from Van Dyck for the color and mood. I think what really made this one stand out was how loose and playful I treated it, something that I keep discovering again and again makes the best art.

The Mysterious Woman. Someone who has been hunting Raziel in Menzoberranazan. Why does she need his soul ? we've been in the city for almost a month, why now? Something I'm sure we'll find out in this weeks session.

I'm sure I'll return to this piece, I want to depict her more elegantly and intimidating, this is a piece pulled from the sketchbook and colored.

A quiet night in a Menzoberranzan diner. These two inquisitors are off duty and spending their time on yesterdays crossword. One of them isn’t good at these kind of puzzles and the other is mute. Good luck.

Shadow sorcerer and brother to the inquisitor of the second ward of Menzoberranzan. A man of few words, born to a destiny he seems to indifferent to.

We have yet to really meet him in the campaign. Only seeing glimpses of him in his sister's shadow, I'm sure that's about change though.

Ami, resident of Menzoberranzan. She has a mysterious past, dresses sharp and runs into our party quite often.

I've been putting a lot of thought into what life in Menzoberranzan is like for the average citizen, from what they wear to what drinks are served on the bars. According to Ami, not great accessibility of the disabled, something she's pretty vocal about.

The version of Menzoberranzan in our setting differs a good deal from the source material. More stuff for me to share in the future.

Ball point pen continues to be my favorite traditional media.

One of my main ways to practice when I was younger was to doodle and render on my school notebooks. Those cheap ballpoint pens actually give you an incredible range in pressure and texture.

Here are some of my favorite pen drawings. The eagles are actually my junior year project from art school.

Learning art is hard. It takes time and tears. You have to make a lot of bad drawings before you make some good drawings and not everyone wants to put in the hard work to make something beautiful. But I promise everyone that it's worth it. Wether you make it your whole life or your hobbyist. Adding something to the world made with your soul is worth it.

My friend, my pal, my buddy. Allie Brosh created the entirety of Hyperbole and a Half, a celebrated webcomic that influenced an entire generation of meme culture, with nothing but the trackpad of a shitty laptop, MSPaint, and fingers that barely avoided frostbite in the winter.

Go to the dollar store and buy a cheap stylus to use with a free app on your phone. Use the aforementioned shitty laptop and trackpad. Heck, draw on the back of your extortionate bills with a knockoff sharpie.

Just because your art doesn't look like Rembrandt, doesn't mean it's not worthwhile.
