Ohh you bet. In their early years at camp,I feel Annabeth and other Athena kids were getting teased so much for it. Spider pranks were so common as well. But after the events of moa, no one dares- Not only Annabeth, but the rest of the cabin. Percy being their official spider killer and no one ever dares to laugh or make a tiny bity prank-

i think it’s a pretty common headcanon that whenever there is a spider, annabeth freaks the fuck out. which is super weird to most people, because she’s like… the bravest person ever. even if you don’t know she’s a demigod, she’s just a badass. but if there’s a spider, she’s screaming bloody murder and jumping up on tables and counters. and of course, percy always comes and kills it for her. no matter what he’s doing or where he is.

but i think what would be even weirder for people (who don’t know her extremely well) is how seriously percy takes it. i feel like girls being scared of spiders and having their male partners come kill it is such a basic ‘weak white girl’ stereotype. and it usually is funny, even to the one who’s scared. so when annabeth does this and starts screaming for percy, people would start laughing. naturally, right? haha it’s so funny that annabeth chase is so scared of bugs. and after percy runs in and takes care of it, they would expect him to be laughing too and poke fun at her.

except it’s the exact opposite. there’s nothing funny about his expression. his jaw is hard-set and his sea green eyes are full of nothing but concern. he does a thorough examination of the surrounding area, makes absolutely sure there aren’t others and gets rid of any webs, and then goes straight to her. and his first question, every single time, is “you okay?” nothing but concern and support. and if the legendary fearless annabeth chase needs her boyfriend/husband to carry her across the room, because she doesn’t want to step on the rug now, you know dam well he’s gonna carry her across the room without a second thought. and you’d better not laugh at her, or else percy’s gonna give you the most scolding glare you’ve ever received, and it’s gonna make your arm/neck hairs stick straight up and your blood turn to ice.

and it would take people off guard every single time. because he’s not laughing at her. he takes her fear completely seriously. and it’s because he knows about her past. he’s seen her face her worst horrors. he knows what happened with archane.

he knows exactly why she’s so scared of spiders, and to him, there’s nothing funny about it.

No seriously, I stopped getting mad at the show for this because that's a separate universe, I wouldn't mix it with the books. And I really hope they would fix her character a bit-

And like, everyone coming and posting about how she disowned her- I even saw a video in youtube called "Why Athena despises her own daughter" Calling her a shitty mom and nothing more? Should I remind you of how every child of Athena getting claimed at birth? How she protects and loves Annabeth in the dam books? The real reason of her not wanting Percy with her was because of his dangerous fatal flaw? Like wtf- She went against the rules in the books, of not intruiding with the quests just like the other gods so they could find her daughter(ttc) And she is supposed to be Zeus's favourite. She agreed to Percy's plan first, and openly said she was mistaken despite of her pride.

I can go on- And about parenting? Like why no one blames Demeter for what she did to Meg? Why not Ares for openly abusing Clarisse? Because he is funny? Why not Zeus for not caring a bit about his dead son? Why not Nemesis for what she had done to Ethan? Hades, who got better yes, but told his 12 year-old son he prefered Bianca? Poseidon who once told Percy sorry because he was born? This could go on too- Whenever I see parenting ranking- I see Athena next to Zeus and I become like wtf? Pls-

I enjoyed Chalice so much that I can't wait for the second- I am so happy Athena got some spot on ^^ Maybe in the next book we finally see her with Annabeth, you know, talking. I think Rick forgot that after Annabeth got out of the Tartarus- And fandom doesn't even have enough of this two. Lmao I even wrote 2 shorts about them and posted on ao3 recently(which I thought I would never do, because I didn't write for like 2 years) just to add some of them to this fandom XD Pls Rick- All I ever see is her being a shitty mom in fanfics because of the Minerva scene? And that episode 4 of the show(I press that book Athena would never do such thing-) So pls 👉👈 She did bad things in the books too, I can't defend her acting in Moa even though it was really Minerva. But she deserves redemption ^^

I remember when I first read the books, I thought Grover had an Afro. That's how I visualized his curly hair back then.

I remember first reading the Percy Jackson books when I was eleven. I loved them very much and have good memories from those times.

I can't believe it...She is a little girl, wtf people?! It doesn't matter how they look in the show, it only matters of how they act. Rick was so open about this. And Leah did amazing as her. Both of them are canon and different. We have both. Is Percy now blond in the books? No. But in the show, he is. Is Annabeth black in the books? No. But in the show she is. And that kids did an amazing job. No one can deny that. Please don't look at the looks at the characters at casting, because you know no one would be book accurate. I don't get why no one say anything about this but only going for Annabeth?

So my point, books and show can coexist people. Please stop hating on each. We can draw both of them. Do you guys really expect of them to follow the same scenarios for S2 pjo? It would be different. And it is fucking okay, since it is basically like an au. So stop hating please...

Lmao book 4-5 was full of Annabeth's emotional crisis. Poor girl...

I genuinely don't know why Annabeth has a reputation for being emotionless, cold, and stoic in the fandom. But I see all the time, Annabeth is a young girl to a young woman who is always emotional. she always wears her emotions on her sleeve, positive and negative. One of Annabeth's biggest character traits is how much she cares

In the lightning thief, she was the one who had to convince Percy to say hello to Gladiola, she's the one who tells him that she will fight on his side no matter what if war breaks out, even if Athena fights on Zeus' side, because she is his friend. She's the one who opens up about her fear of spiders, that she isn't sure if she is actually good enough to be out in the real world where the monsters are.

In the sea of Monsters she punches a bully for bullying Percy, she cries at least twice in the book, once because of Luke and another because she listened to the Sirens. She apologizes for treating Tyson like crap and opens up to Percy about why.

In Titans' curse she rides a manticore off a cliff to save her friends. She takes the sky from Luke because she sees he's in pain.

In Battle for the Labyrinth she stops in the middle of a competition to comfort Juniper because the other girl is upset. She weeps in front of Percy because despite finally leading a quest she feels responsible if any of her friends get hurt. She does her best to get Nico to join them because she knows how it is to be a kid alone in their world. She kisses Percy when they are forced to split up. She is in so much pain when she has to give a eulogy at Percy's funeral even though he's alive. She all but curses out Daedalus when she finds out the other child of Athena has done. she breaks down when she sees Luke is taken over by Kronos and despite herself she trudges forward the second they get a clue about Grover and tyson because she loves of friends so much.

There are so many instances of every book after I can't even bother listing them. Annabeth is not perfect, but just because she is the smart kid doesn't mean she's cold and emotionless. Annabeth burns hot and bright with all of her emotions she is the farthest thing from cold dam it. She loves so dam hard and much that it hurts, nothing about her is cold and detatched

Ohh I loved the legacy idea. But I don't think legacies would need claiming? Also his parents were mortal if I remember correctly. They definitely knew about Athena tho, since they give him her present(that magicial coin that protects him). So adopted one sticks with me better but I loved yours too :) Athena being kind enough to look after the unclaimed au is just my beloved XD

So if Athena already claims her children at birth, why did Zane Carver get claimed late? Also had to do quest before getting claiming?

I mean shouldn't be so hard to guess their parent=stormy gray eyes. ( Imagine Chiron looking at the new camper and sees the eyes and just sends the kid to cabin 6 XD) Which I am not sure if it means Athena's blessing or they just born like that.

I LOVE THIS-

Guys, the people who're saying she is the worst parent need to read the books. She was absent, yes, but just like every other Olympian. She was the one who agreed to Percy's plan at the end, despite being so prideful, she agreed she made a mistake in front of her whole family. She is the only goddess who claims at birth (at the wiki). She guided her 7 year-old daughter, gifted her an invisibility cap, helped Percy in her quest so he could save her daughter, threatened Percy to stay away from her child because of his fatal flaw (from her eyes, she did get kidnapped because of it), she wanted to come help at the Manhattan battle but Zeus didn't let her, gave her daughter her biggest dream, covered for Percy and accepted him for her daughter at the Chalice-

Moa thing was really her going crazy. She was not right, I am not defending her words; she would need to apologize %100. But no, she can't be the worst parent next to other Olympians lmao. And she definitely loves Annabeth and her other children.

Man, whenever I read something like "Annabeth was disowned by Athena in MoA" I wonder if people realized that that wasn't really Athena. That was Minerva. True, same goddess and all, but then again so are Mars and Ares and Mars didn't recognize Percy at first, and Minerva didn't recognize Annabeth at first; she was top busy already struggling with her split personality at the time.

Does Annabeth still deserve an apology from Athena? Yeah. Does that mean Athena actually hated Annabeth or really disowned her? Nope.
