(no spoilers)
the upside of my hyperfixation after the andor finale is I did indeed complete a rewatch of rogue one immediately afterwards and it definitely hit way different
the downside of my hyperfixation after the andor finale is all I can bring myself to do right now is rewatch the last three minutes of episode 12 over and over again and no one in my social circle understands because they either haven't caught up on andor or aren't interested because "star wars isn't my thing" (I'M GONNA PUNCH A WALL)

so many things had to go right for a new hope to even happen canonically and it is actually frying my brain (andor finale spoilers)
lonni had to not be compromised for as long as he did in order to discover the truth.
luthen had to tell kleya, and then kleya had to make sure the information was forwarded onwards. before she was able to share it, the information lived ONLY with her. (and the bad guys too yeah but that obviously does not count).
cassian had to still be with the rebellion, or else the kleya rescue mission would’ve either failed or not have happened at all. similarly, if k2so had never been salvaged, the rescue mission would have failed.
there’s a whole slew of butterfly effects in rogue one too, of course. notably, if galen erso had never engineered a weak point in the death star, the rebellion likely would’ve been completely cooked. (at least, I THINK I’m understanding that correctly, adhd makes it hard to catch everything in that movie).
I could go on all day but I’ll leave the rest to you and the other angsty fic writers. needless to say, all of the pieces of the rebellion fell carefully into place and if one thing had gone wrong the empire might’ve won.

andor finale spoilers
I gotta rewatch rogue one but first can I just say
dedra ending up in the narkina 5 prison is brutal and perfect. her being wrongly accused of being the very thing she so vehemently hates and having to pay for it for the rest of her life. amazing!!!

RIP Syril Karn. You died as you lived, only knowing half of what's going on at any given time.

andor s2e6 spoilers!!
this one's for the mbti nerds :D
luthen's interactions with mon mothma are the perfect example of an INTJ and an INFJ butting heads and I feel like I am the only one who has noticed this
I don't feel like sifting through the earlier episodes but their scene in episode 6 was such a simple example. the dialogue:
Mon: I haven't heard from my cousin. Luthen: *dismissive* She's probably just being careful. Mon: Well, tell her to check in with me. Luthen: Something urgent she needs knowing? Mon: *tightly* Yes. I care about her.
luthen's first thought is about the mission. like, is there some logical reason you need to reach out to her in such a timely manner? his Ni-Te forcing him to think only about the mission and all of the puppet strings tied together and how this new piece of information fits. surely, the only logical reason mon would so urgently demand a conversation with her cousin is if there were something important to communicate?
but unlike luthen, mon needs no ulterior motive for contacting people. unlike luthen, she does have an emotional core and isn't solely concerned with making everything about the mission. her Ni-Fe means she's much more concerned with the wellbeing of others.
the tension between luthen and mon is a classic example of the ways thinker types and feeler types clash.
a few other notes on INFJs and INTJs, from truity:
INTJs are usually direct and straightforward in their communication, and generally don’t shy away from asking what they need to do their job well. After all, their main drive is to be efficient, so they’re not that concerned about how people will perceive them, and whether or not they’ll be liked. They just want to get the answer as quickly as possible.   INFJs have a different approach to communication. (...) As Fe users, INFJs look for valuable ways to connect with others, so they take their time when making an important decision, pondering how it will affect everyone involved.  (https://www.truity.com/blog/infj-versus-intj-five-ways-tell-these-personalities-apart)
Honestly this whole article has mon and luthen written all over it so I'd read it if you're an mbti nerd like me who likes applying these things to fictional characters.
I think the above description can apply to how they handled the tay situation too. mon was much more reluctant to resort to having him killed, because she wanted to find a solution where no one would get hurt. luthen, on the other hand, knew fairly early on that tay would have to be dealt with in a straightforward way.

andor s2e5 spoilers!
(hi syril dedra enjoyers I wrote a thing)
It is confusing. It feels confusing. No matter how many rules she constructs around their union, he makes her feel weak. He makes her feel sorry.
considering this is a side account you probably don't recognize me but I once wrote this fic, and a fair deal of others centered around these two, during s1:
Tumblr media
the good news is, I've just written something new! centered around an ultra specific, seconds long scene from s2e5! so uh! yeah please read it if you enjoy syril and dedra but also want canon compliance :0
Bittersweet (465 words) by TheAngstHaze Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Andor (TV), Star Wars - All Media Types Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Syril Karn & Dedra Meero, Syril Karn/Dedra Meero Characters: Dedra Meero, Syril Karn, Lio Partagaz Summary: "If I say this is the greatest day of my life…does it spoil everything?" "…It's good to see you happy." In which many thoughts occur in a mere moment. (CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR S2E5)

andor s2e6 spoilers!
actually I have so many thoughts
kleya and luthen are actually so similar to each other no wonder they've managed to keep everything orderly for so long. I love kleya so much, she doesn't even flinch no matter how nerve-wracking the situation gets unlike SOMEONE (cough cough lonni) (I don't hate lonni though he's just got some self-preservation). also I know we've already established that luthen is such an anti-hero mastermind but oh my god. he really does not care about sacrifices.
actually side note for MBTI nerds, but he's such an INTJ. that conversation he had with mon about her cousin? classic INTJ vs INFJ interaction. I'll get into that in another post though, this one's the brain dump post.
bix. thank goodness she got her retribution. this is what we've been waiting for!! she has been kicked around so much and finally she has a W and I am so so glad for her.
cinta. I don't really like how quickly her death occurred, but maybe that's because I saw it coming. like, suddenly she's all emotionally open and her and vel get some bonding time, of COURSE someone's gonna die. rip cinta. poor guy who shot her on accident, I don't know if I was meant to but I felt bad for him.
syril is obviously a double agent, but maybe I'm dumb because he actually had me fooled for a second with all his anti-ISB rhetoric. like he seemed genuinely upset about the disruption to his office. I wonder if any of that was real? either way, he's clearly not fully aware of what purpose he's actually serving. like he is being deliberately kept in the dark. I'm starting to understand where dedra's arc is going too. "it's nice seeing you happy" that scene, you could clearly tell she was holding back. I think a part of her does really care for him. but she doesn't allow her emotions to control her. it's that odd conflicting balance of "he's a pawn" and "he's someone I care about." they continue to be a fascinating pair.
I don't know what to make of the saw gerrera bits I have to read a few articles first.
this is all the thoughts I have for now! this show continues to blow me away

andor s2e3 spoilers
ok fr that premiere was so good. I’ve seen the complaints about how it felt like nothing really went anywhere, and there’s just gonna be another time skip so what was the point, and so on. I think the pace of these three episodes is to show us what kind of life these characters have been living over the past year.
the meaningless turf war cassian got stuck in wasn’t really meant to give us any character development for him, it was meant to show how people who oppose each other despite being on the same side will ultimately go nowhere. those people might die on that planet, all because they couldn’t overcome their petty disagreements. who knows, maybe if they’d listened to cassian they would’ve stood a chance.
mon mothma’s arc in these episodes was shot beautifully. there’s such a stunning contrast between the lavishness of her life and the stark reality that her childhood friend will have to die because she roped him in without thinking he’d ever flake out. oh! and also the stark reality that her daughter STILL does not care for her genuinely good mothering in the least. she let loose at the wedding knowing that everything was shit and just this once there was nothing she could do about it. accepting your losses is part of putting up the good fight.
bix has already been through a lot. it was very very bold of them to show her being assaulted but that was also part of the larger narrative of how vile the empire can be. I won’t get into the real world parallels because I think most people who want to can do that easily. but I do hope bix gets more of a chance to fight back, because she now has had TWO events happen to give her ptsd.
syril and dedra…I mean that was just odd. in the way that things with them are always odd. they’re both so orderly and their home life feels so sterile and it’s hard to say if there’s any real…love there. dedra standing up to eedy doesn’t come off as her being protective to me, it seems like another part of keeping syril under her control and stomping out the competition. disagree with that if you want, but dedra is definitely the one in control of this relationship, and I do think the scenes with eedy helped establish that.
honestly it’s gonna be a few weeks before everything makes sense, so it’s hard to judge the pacing. just hold on tight and keep paying attention!

reasons people hated andor: "there's like no aliens!" "they spend sooo much time on the characters" "this doesn't feel like star wars"
reasons I love andor: "there's like no aliens!" "they spend sooo much time on the characters" "this doesn't feel like star wars"
it's almost time.
