That old “What if Eddie is 010?” Theory BUT make it an AU!

I remember when the original theory was going around and thinking (yes, even then) that it was utter BS. After discussing the theory with a friend, however, we figured it’d make a pretty cool AU!

Eddie survived the Hawkins Lab Massacre and found himself refuge with Wayne Munson (completely by accident). Eddie avoided using his powers to minimize the likelihood of being found out by the people of Hawkin’s lab, that was until he found himself facing bats in the Upside Down.

Maybe if the Duffer brothers didn’t leave me-sized gaps in shots I wouldn’t put myself there.

A friend of mine and myself are developing Stranger Things self insert lore which I am referring to as “The Henderson Siblings AU”, as we both decided we’d be Dustin’s siblings (I’d be the middle child). This has lead me to drawing myself in scenes as I join the chaos in season 2. The amount of GAPS in the composition for me to put myself in is wild.

Spotlight is obviously on the bottom two drawings cause they’re my favourites. (Might do season three drawings too but we’ll see) (I might also take this down eventually cause I might redraw some of the shots)

The Captain Marvel end credit scene but it’s my “The Other Half” AU, where the other half of the Avengers get blipped.

I drew this same scene in 2022 and hated how it came out (even back then) so I decided to redraw it! I’ve also included the side-by-side comparison so you can see just how far my art has come in 3 years.

I think it’s very cool that Sam Wilson speaks to people in their own language when he’s outside the U.S.

Some might argue that it’s the bare minimum and I totally agree with that btw, but I must say he’s really goated for making the effort🔥

The reason Lando greeted Han the way he did on Bespin was because he was trying to imitate the way Han greeted him before the sabaac game at the end of Solo. The sabaac game where Han tricked him and Lando lost the Falcon. Lando was trying to telegraph to Han that he was going to be tricked and to stay on guard the only way he could think of.

I had a dream once, years ago, that they brought Kobik to the MCU and they hired a POC and, obviously, much of the fandom was ANGRY about it. So when I woke up, I drew her. Years later, I did another drawing cause Thunderbolts and Brave New World got me back in my sambucky feels.

SPOT CONLON DESIGN (before Davey…I’m so sorry) including some text from the NY Sun article “The Only Tie-Up in Town” (July 21, 1899) because I feel the need to justify my pink suspender choice.

My design for Spot, like my other designs, is a mix of the movie and the Broadway production. The white shirt and cane come from the movie, the red striped tee and pants come from bway and of course, the pink suspenders come from history!

My personal favourite of the two drawings is him with his cane :)

I bought an 128 year old book for $105.

Over the weekend, my sister showed me an antique book store in the town she attended university. The store specialized in used books of any era, and I kept my eye out for three in particular: “How the Other Half Lives” & “Children of the Poor”, both by Jacob Riis, and “Darkness and Daylight in New York”, which has three authors.

All three of these books I have used in my research into newsboys and the lodging houses via online archives. I would’ve been happy to find any of them as I assumed it’d be impossible for a decent price, but I was wrong.

I found “Darkness and Daylight in New York” for $105 (including tax).

I’ve used this book for a reference in an earlier post regarding the representation of the lodging houses in Newsies fanfiction, holding the book feels surreal. I’ve included images from the book including the title page and a short video showing two of the illustrations.

It is an original printing, meaning the book is in fact 128 years old.

Probably my nerdiest purchase to date (which is saying a lot considering I collect vintage Star Wars toys)

Okay but we all agree that the 75th Hunger Games reapings were 1000% rigged right? It’s been pointed out before but I wanna rehash some things for the sake of clarity before I get deeper into it.

If you look at the pairs chosen for the districts you’ll notice they’re almost ALL duos/complimentary pairs. Siblings from 1, the morphings and of course, Annie and Finnick, who many have theorized that they were chosen to “compete” with Katniss and Peeta. Many of the victors chosen were also revolutionaries or at odds with Snow. (Wiress, Beetee and Johanna being the most obvious of the bunch.) So it’s pretty safe to assume that the reapings were rigged, but I don’t think we talk enough about what that means.

Snow’s ultimate goal was to kill off any and all problematic victors and quash any rebellion in its tracks. It’s hard to say who he favoured to win the games, but I’d say he didn’t care so long as it wasn’t Katniss. However, based on who was reaped for the 75th, I don’t think Snow saw Peeta as a threat. I also don’t think he expected Peeta to volunteer for the 75th games.

I think both of the names in that bowl said Haymitch Abernathy. I’ve thought so for years.

Snow already had beef with Haymitch (thank you SOTR for confirming my HCS) and of course beef with Katniss, so he figured this would be perfect to get rid of both of them. If he had predicted that Peeta would’ve volunteered, he might’ve put Peeta’s name in the bowl so he could guarantee a shot at getting rid of both The Fire Starter and The Girl on Fire in one fell swoop.

Because Snow would never have volunteered for Lucy Gray (because he’d have seen that there was a chance for them to both live if he wasn’t in the games), he couldn’t fathom that Peeta would volunteer to try and protect his love. If Peeta had won the games, as Katniss intended, he would’ve made a wonderful example of what associating with troublesome personalities led to.

Do I think there could’ve still been a revolution without Katniss after Catching Fire? Yes.

Do I think there could’ve still been a revolution without ANY of the (main) victors after Catching Fire? NO.

The tributes for the 75th were strategically picked. Mags volunteering for Annie was likely an unpredictable event as well, but not so much so that it wouldn’t have been a “oh well, that works too” moment.

Snow couldn’t touch Katniss’s family. Johanna was right, if anything had happened to Prim there would’ve been riots in the Capitol itself. Therefore, the 75th was conceptualized and Snow saw it as a chance to rid himself of all of his District Victor threats. The 75th hunger games was a new type of poison which he could use on the victors themselves.

I think Snow definitely saw an opportunity to get rid of Haymitch, because even after he killed everyone he loved Haymitch still fought back 24 years later and made the Capitol look like fools. Even after 24 years at the bottom of a bottle, he was still a threat.

In some places it felt as if Snow almost forgot about Peeta as an independent person from Katniss. Like he was only important in the sense that he was connected to Katniss. Snow just didn’t see Peeta for who he truly was.

Underestimating Peeta may just have been the true beginning of Snow melting under Fire.
