HEADCANON TIME:

remus needs glasses. he’s blind as shit until third year when poppy notices and gives him glasses. he hates them but james is so sweet about it, reminding him that now they can be matching.

in canon, after james dies, he stops wearing them because it hurts too much, a constant reminder of his best friend on his face. he doesn’t want to see because he won’t ever get to see james’ smile again or the adoring stare sirius always gives him.

in fanon, remus goes through a contacts phase but eventually can’t be bothered with them. every time he gets his eyes tested, he gets a new pair of glasses that sirius picks out for him. they try a bunch of different styles each time until sirius eventually decides that a little rectangular wire frame suits him best
