Astarion got an ✨️update✨️

As soon as I started making Shadowheart, I knew I would have to remake Astarion. The original design, like original original, not even the original end design, was a very narrow window frame so I made him pose quite stiff and standing. Putting that old pose in the new design, it looked stiff, so I went for a loose and theatrical pose and I quite like it.

I absolutely just carried the head outline over because why mess with a good thing.

Gale of Waterdeep

Hello, yes. Welcome to my tedtalk about how much I adore Gale of Waterdeep. Romancing him was as natural as breathing and I wish I felt as happy about this piece as I do when I get his crown score to zero. I have been dawdling with this piece for weeks and it's just never come out in a way that matches how much I feel about him which is a shame because I love him a whole lot and wanted to do him justice, but sometimes it just kinda happens. At least I finished him. that's a win in my book after the struggles I've had. I avoided said struggles by just playing Baldur's Gate 3 more which was also quite unhelpful but oh well!

Wait. Hold up. Update. I printed him out on shitty printer paper to put next to shitty printer paper Shadowheart and I think i like him more now.

He does look nice as a contrast to Shadowheart so I'm excited to get the whole crew done and see them as a set. Though I should set aside bg3 for a bit as I have a couple of other prints I want to work on as well

Now that I had time to actually sit down and wasn't rushing for Expo, I got to explore the style of Shadowheart that I wanted, which led into exploring the style of the print in total. when I finished rendering her and realized how much I loved it and how much the bottom banner would cover, I realized that I had to let go of what I had started with the Astarion print for the Baldur's Gate 3 series I intend to create.

This is outside my usual realm but I love it. I connect the companions of bg3 a lot of the celestial bodies and the night sky since so much of the connected stories occur beneath the night sky and for some reason I yearned to have quotes in scrawley handwriting. With all that, I ended up here and I love it? so very much. she looks so beautiful? even if it's not my usual stained glass styling. She'd still look beautiful as a window cling. And now I'm imagining gold foil prints. Sssssooooooo good.

I also love Shadowheart. Karlach is the girl I wanna be but Shadowheart with her horrible jokes makes me laugh of all the girls. I barely interacted with her at all my first two runs so it took a minute but now I shall protect her at all costs.

I have Shadowheart rendered and... she's too pretty. The bottom banner is too much. I love her too much.... but then... do I go back and redo Astarion? At least then I could give him a more dynamic pose? I could do it better...

Uuuuggghhhh I guess my Expo Astarion might turn out to have been a con exclusive. I don't know.

I just dont know. I just can't bear to cover up the whole bottom of Shadowheart's outfit

The Ronin

Posting this commission I did for May the 4th and feeling happy about it. I hated making this piece but I really love it now. The colours turned out so well and I love the astral charts in the corners.

The Pale Elf

So this was not how I had planned for his to look at all. I had a whole frame picked out and I was rushing to get it done for the convention im tabling at this weekend to sell and it was looking truly awful and yesterday at 9pm I scrapped the border and got to work cobbling together what you see now. Do I love it? I don't know. But I know I like it far more than what I had. I'll see if people enjoy it at the convention and maybe I'll post it on my stop.

I'm only posting this on Tumblr for now so I hope yall like it!

My 2024 in art

Challenged myself to finish a piece in a single day and I wanted to draw my favourite little guy, so I did. I am insanely slow digitally and it's something I want to work on.

I went for a children's book inspired style I used a few times in university and it was fun to revisit for a quick illustration. It's messy and silly and I enjoy it.

I'm alive and still making art I swear.

I had this piece what I thought was almost finished before leaving for France and yet I struggled for a whole month while I was there trying to shade the ombre as I couldn't do it in my usual style and it was so frustrated that I almost scraped this, but I thought in the end it's better to share it than let it waste away in the depths of my hard drive.

I love Padme so much and have grown to love her even more as an adult than I did as a child.

Hhhmmmmm I honestly don't know. They aren't on my list at the moment. I think if I found inspiration of them, then maybe. Either a good window frame inspiration or an angle to look at them. However fond I am of the movies, making art of them just isn't where my heart lies currently as I dont know if I have anything unique to say about them, and I am very much an artist who follows the whims of her interests even to my detriment.

The Dawnchild

I love him, your honour. I love him so very much. I've posted about him on my main account, gushing over the tragedy and the beauty of this character. From the moment @nickmarini opened his mouth, I was a goner for this sweet summer child. He lives rent free in my mind way more than I could have ever believed. Something about the hope in the face of all tragedy only for that light to move from sensibility to sense is truly heartbreaking and tragic.

I was going for a bit of illuminated manuscript vibes without going all in because spoiler alert, I'm terrible at the style even if I love it. I really didn't feel stained glass was right in the face of the simplicity of the character art by @agarthanguide and the theme of gods donning mortal guises. I very much focused on agriculture for his borders as I think it is center to who he is and what is lost behind the divine gate.

Yyyaaaalllllllllll I honestly didn't know how these window clings were gonna look, but I really love them? Especially Keyleth and Orym?

I held off on a few because I want to possible redesign them, but like.. they're super neat and I hope people they sell during the holiday season because I am endlessly proud of my VM and BH illustrations.
