A little HC of mine is Lee accidentally seeing Silena talk through her bracelet before the Labyrinth.

He was checking if others were in their positions and couldn't find Silena. He stumbles upon her and stands there for a moment, in disbelief, as he hears her talk to the Titan Army. Her face after she sees him looks like one of a person whose family was just murdered before them. Like Lee is the murderer.

He confronts her because how could she? She was his friend, she was camp's big sister, someone kids always went to when they had a problem or wanted to talk to. And there she stands, giving away their secrets?

They couldn't talk longer because they needed to protect camp (or Lee needed to protect it). He gave her one last look, one that told "We'll talk about it later," and ran to his siblings.

The last time she saw him alive, he was angry with her. The next time he had his skull bashed in. Her secret remained hidden once more.

Jason thinks love needs to be earned. The only love in tiny Jason’s world that ever came without strings was Thalia’s, but he was so young when they got separated that he barely remembers her. His mom abandoned him but surely she had her reasons. Maybe he just wasn’t a good enough son.

So he tries to be a good strong wolf and then a good little soldier, for Lupa’s approval and Camp Jupiter’s approval and because maybe if he earns enough points on the achievement scoreboard his dad will come see him. Maybe his dad will love him. If he hasn’t yet, it’s just because Jason hasn’t tried hard enough.

And his friendship with Reyna feeds into this mindset. It’s not anything Reyna says or does. But Reyna is guarded—understandably so, considering she’s extremely traumatized and lived the first ten years of her life knowing love mostly as a thing that could blow up in your face at any given moment. Of course she’s slow to trust and even slower to love.

It takes time for her to let herself love Jason.

And she doesn’t love him because of some achievement scoreboard, or because he’s a good soldier, but Jason doesn’t know that. Jason just sees that Reyna is his friend now, so apparently he’s gotten a good grade in being a friend through his achievements. His dad may not love him yet, but Reyna loves him, so clearly it’s possible to earn love and the world works exactly how he always assumed it did.

And then he meets Leo and Piper. Leo and Piper who love each other without terms and conditions. Who get in trouble together and make fun of each other and would die for each other in a heartbeat. There were no grand gestures or heroic achievements that caused that love to happen. It just did. They just looked at each other and knew they were meant to be friends.

And they love Jason, too. Even after they realize their memories of him aren’t real, they stick with him. Even when he keeps messing up, which in his world should get friendship points docked and make their love go away, they keep loving him anyway.

Jason sees Leo make his little pipe cleaner helicopter and immediately asks if they’re actually friends, because he may not even remember who he is, but surely he hasn’t done enough to earn the friendship of someone that cool. In MoA he talks to Piper about how he keeps being knocked out and having to be saved and how that makes him a terrible hero. He tells her he doesn’t deserve her when she tries to reassure him.

But Leo and Piper keep loving him anyway. They met the version of Jason that’s a mess before they ever met the Jason that’s capable and heroic and they still love him. Leo loves Jason so much he dies to keep him safe.

Leo loves the Jason that laughs at his stupid jokes and plays video games with him and gets stupid competitive about it. He loves the Jason that’s a nerd about Ancient Rome and the Jason who is kind and the Jason who’s unsure what the future holds and what he wants it to look like. He loves the Jason who’s a bit childish and cannot cook to save his life and has a terrible taste in movies.

When Piper is trying to comfort Jason when he almost dies, she doesn’t talk about his heroics. She talks about Jason when he was happy, with a goofy grin on his face and marshmallows stuck in his hair.

All his life Jason thought there was a certain version of himself he had to be in order to earn love. A mold he had to somehow fit himself into, no matter how uncomfortably it fit. And here Leo and Piper are, loving him even when he’s not exactly the fearless hero leader everyone’s expected him to be all his life. Even when he doesn’t know who he wants to be, or what he wants to do with his life. Even when he tells them that maybe he hates being a leader.

And Jason wonders if that’s what love is supposed to be. If he’s been doing it wrong his entire life. If maybe Reyna could have loved that version of him, too, if he’d let her see it.

But he’s so afraid of the answer to that question—so afraid that the girl he considers his platonic soulmate won’t like who he is now—that he never lets himself find out.

To absolutely nobody's surprise i'm gonna have to go with Jason, my beloved ⚡🌪️

It's the mix between the identity crisis and the constant expectations placed upon him, and also being made to feel like a disappointment by his parent despite doing his best, and STILL coming out being so kind and selfless and loyal, it's all of that really that gets me everytime

This made me curious, what about you guys?

There are so many other characters i would have included, i'm sure Thalia Luke Clarisse Will Meg Magnus Alex Sam Blitz Hearthstone Sally Carter Sadie, they could all be someone's fav rrverse character, and more probably

lost trio headcanons because theyre my mini fixation for the day

for starters i’d like to remind you that the first time jason felt like a person and not a soldier was when he was with leo and piper

ok now actual headcsnons

jason’s hair grew out after a bit and ended up covering the scar (“undercut”) he has on the side of his head from that one bullet. leo likes to surprise people by putting jason’s hair up bc its funny to see their reactions

l: “and look—secret undercut!!”

j: “it’s not an undercut leo, it’s a scar”

p: “the bullet didn’t even touch your skin drama queen”

j: “might’ve. my head could’ve exploded and—“

[groaning and arguing and leo laughing]

—canon convo guys rick told me

leo knows a lot of car games which is very beneficial for long days on the argo ii

piper always has a lollipop in her mouth and no one knows where they come from

leo comes up with the oddest nicknames and piper and jason are just. so used to it? jason could be talking to like reyna or smth and leo will come up to him and say

l: “oh hey jason gracer razor blazer”

j: “hi leo”

r: “what the fuck”

leo is really bad at picking up social clues so jason does it for him

the wildnerness school had a really early curfew that piper and leo blatantly ignored

they would stay out and wander the halls and hide in classrooms whenever a teacher was nearby

leo was poor and homeless, jason was raised with no regards to currency, spending, or finances, and piper is a nepo baby. the ultimate trio dynamic. arguing for hours about whether $50 is a lot or not (it is.)

leo shares food as a love language

jason loves video games, surprisingly enough (mario kart. MARIO KART.)

piper is constantly taking leo’s and jason’s stuff. hair ties, jewelry, mostly clothes, also mostly food, leo’s homework,

the trio has a movie marathon every friday night. there’s blanket forts, gummy worms, matching pjs, and fairy lights involved. they borrow rachel’s cave, since cabin 1 is too depressing and the aphrodite and hephaestus cabins are way too packed (sometimes rachel hangs around for a bit :D)

picture me this. it’s winter, the lake is frozen over. they somehow find ice skates. utter chaos. leo fancies himself a figure skater, jason is on all fours because he keeps falling, and piper actually did figure skating as a kid

“Hey hey” Leo interrupts, Jason realizes that he was getting himself worked up again “I'm here now right, right here. Feel me, I'm here”

He puts his head down and just, smells him. Leo squeezes him close putting his own face in Jason’s hair

And he is here. Jason takes his hands and traces it up and down Leo’s side. He can feel the patterns of his lightning scar, the rougher texture of the Lichtenberg figures forking at the ribcage. The pock mark contractor scars that scatter over his legs and back left over from Leo’s first death, just more proof that he survived that they are both here.

Jason has scars too, he did get stabbed a bunch in the back and sliced in half, but not like Leo. Leo got exploded on two separate occasions, which leaves its mark no matter the magical rejuvenation. Add falling off Festus and getting crushed to death and his Leo is a constellation of scar tissue.

The lightning scar is different though, it's always been different. It was only his third death, but it was Jupiter that killed him. The Lichtenberg figures show just how he was blown to pieces; the entry point in the left shoulder, the smaller branches down his arm and back, the huge line down his front that splits at his ribcage to go either side of his navel, the exit points at his thigh and pelvis and spine. It's his largest scar, gained from cursing out the king of the heavens to his face. For Jason

But its probably has something to do with the lightning that has Jason obsessed over it. Here is Leo, ever so afraid of his gift hurting the people he loves, sporting a permanent reminder of Jason’s power. It feels both like a failure and a claim, that Leo died from his domain but also survived. That he is marked by the sky, both lost and won, all for Jason

Also it leads a very enticing trail to mouth down to more creative places but that is beside the point

Either way Jason presses a few kisses into the entry point of the strike and then rests his cheek there so he can gaze up at Leo’s face. Leo just turns his head so he can press his lips into Jason’s forehead

“I love you” Leo tells him, in the way he does just because he can

“I love you too” Jason sighs back, he really truly does

valgrace except leo prefers to sleep. he’s never awake for longer than four hours and during those four hours, he’s not all there either. he’s daydreaming and thinking and mulling over every possibility, everything that went wrong. he keeps himself busy for four hours but he’s not useful when his mind isn’t in it.

perhaps it’s the grief. the aching feeling in his heart knowing that he’ll never see jason again. so he sleeps. he sleeps in hope of dreaming about him, in seeing him and spending time with him.

because how does one function without their other half? where leo would spend all hours of the day with jason, never sleeping because every second and every minute counted so much so to the point that leo’s sleep schedule synced with jason’s. he slept when the other slept, woke up when he woke up.

how is he supposed to go about his life without his best friend, his lover, his heaven, his everything?

leo doesn’t remember how to work in the forge once he begins to get better.

his hands stopped working the moment jason’s heart ceased to beat. and his fire never felt colder.

Barty knows he's fucked up as soon as their lips touched.

Sure, it's because of a dare, but he can't just act normal about it. Because he's been repressing these feelings for so long that as soon as he and Evan begin to kiss, he lets out a gasp, reaching forward to grab the other boy, pulling him closer in a way that is not platonic.

And sure, Evan reciprocates. But he's probably too lost in the moment, or too surprised to say no. It all happens so fast, their hands gripping each other, their tongues intertwining, teeth nipping at lips, sharing breath.

So when he realizes what he's done, he pulls away, quite sure he'll be met by a look of cold revulsion.

But he's surprised.

Because when he and Evan look at each other, still panting slightly, all he can see in Evan's expression is unadulterated hunger.

Actually devastated about the fact that Jason planned to die the exact same way Leo did? Leo knew Jason and Piper wouldn’t let him sacrifice himself so he just didn’t tell them what he was planning to do. The last thing he does before he executes his plan at the end of BoO is make sure his friends are out of range so they won’t get hurt in the process.

Jason simply planned to let Piper move away with her dad and just never tell her that one of them was destined to die. He just decided it would be him and planned to just go sacrifice himself after Piper left.

Something something Leo died to protect Jason, but instead of achieving what he wanted (keeping Jason safe and cheating fate so they could both live), Leo accidentally reinforced Jason’s belief that love is meant to be shown through sacrifice.

Okay we've discussed Piper in depth and now I want to tackle Leo.

Leo originally in HOO was clearly putting in a mask for other people. Being a jokester and the comix relief because he wouldn't be kept around if he wasn't.

Add the fake memories to the mix. Now in canon no one ever tells Leo these are fake for some reason??? But in our canon Leo is not dumb he's a genius in his own right. He knows that there is something odd about those memories something off. Jason never acts like he did in the memories. As soon as Leo is told about the mist he has an oh shit moment.

But he never says anything. Never searching for the memories he forgot. Because deep down he knows that he probably spent those months alone and scared, bullied and teased without anyone to back him up. That without those memories Piper wouldn't have looked at him twice. The only reason he has what he has right now is because of them. He has to be useful and funny. Serious at the right moments and comic relief at others. Leo's whole personality is built on how to keep others around. Because he is so tired of being lonely.

So he swallows his fear and guilt around his fire and uses it anyway. Because Jason is the son of the king of the gods. And Piper could charm anybody with a simple smile. He has to bring something to the table. That's why he hunts down Festus.

Bunker 9 stays in his back pocket. A trump card he will only use if shit hits the fan. He is going on this fucking quest and he is going to be a hero. Because maybe then people will actually look at him.

Nico is comforting Will because Will doesn't feel enough. Nico is comforting Will but he doesn't know how to do it. Nico is comforting Will by using Will's sentences from when he comforted Nico. Will is now feeling enough because he realizes his words had enough effect on Nico for him to recognize them.
