and kdj ends up having to pray that he stays dead long enough for yjh to calm down

How does Jouno get around? Technically, he could drive. Hypothetically. But I just don't see him doing that, so I feel like either he has a chauffeur or one of the other Hunting Dogs drives him around. He complains about Tecchou breathing too loud, so public transportation is obviously off limits. Cabs are a no, too, since who knows what state the car is in?

It's not Teruko-- she's not even near the legal age to drive half the time. Or Fukuchi, because he'll get a ticket whether or not he's drunk for reckless driving. Tachihara really couldn't be seen around a government police operative back when he was undercover, so that leaves Tecchou, but I kind of think he's the type to always have the radio on. Thoughts?

why is teruko lowkey the ranpo of the hunting dogs

Difference is that Ranpo is the thing keeping the Agency afloat (him + teamwork and loyalty and Fukuzawa) and I honestly think Tachihara and Jouno are keeping the Hunting Dogs together

Teruko is 26, so is Ranpo Both normally act like children but can be serious when needed (that's even reflected in teruko's ability) Everyone kind of just accommodates them when they're being ridiculous because they play important roles

I want to see what happens if Teruko and Ranpo like switch minds or like swap workplaces for a day as a prank

even tho i know realistically teruko hates ranpo because she thinks the entire agency are terrorists (lets pretend theyre actually friends pls)

I was supposed to post this so long ago...

Chapter 1!

The bell on the door jingles. It's a pretty little thing that you made so you wouldn't miss customers while you're in the back restocking. The weather was beautiful in Yokohama that morning, without a single cloud in the sky. There's a nice breeze, and laughing customers step inside every once in a while. Ranpo walks in, looking every bit like a child with that smile of his.

Of course, his eyes go to the sweets first, but he greets you as soon as he registers your presence. He walks over to the counter, eyes re-gluing themselves to the cakes in the glass display case. There's a new special, he notices. A nice, glazed strawberry cheesecake.

"I'll take the usual, with... a slice of that cheesecake. Some cookies, too."

The usual, a double cookie frappuccino with extra everything. You do sometimes wonder how he can stomach so much sugar, but he just shrugs and says "Never too much of a good thing, you know?" whenever you ask.

You finish up his order and wrap everything up.

"On the house today. How do you afford all these, anyway?"

"Oh? On the house?" He smiles, already taking a sip of his drink. "Looks like I'm lucky today, huh?"

"As for how I afford all this..." Ranpo gestures vaguely to his treats. "Let's just say, being the world's best detective has its perks. And its perks come with a rather... substantial paycheck."

His grin turns a bit smug, his eyes glinting with self-satisfaction.

"And besides, how else can I maintain all this..." He pats his stomach, which is admittedly quite lean and toned for someone who indulges in so many sweets. "Energetic lifestyle, if not with the occasional indulgence?"

~ 😭 what do you DO Ranpo??? I'm being so serious HOW do you stay normal-sized when you're always eating so much candy??? ~

You smile at him, responding just as playfully. "You're 26. Grow up."

"Ah, I guess you're right. 26 is a bit old to act like this, isn't it?" he admits.

You banter back and forth for a while... (sorry i cant my creativity ran out and i dont read the manga so i only know that hes the lazy genius who acts like a kid it is so hard to write for that)

"You know, Y/n-chan, I've always admired your baking. The way you pour your passion into every treat, the love and care in every bite..." His eyes soften, a rare sincerity creeping into his voice. "It's almost magical. Like a little taste of happiness in every morsel."

He pops a cookie into his mouth, his eyes fluttering shut as he savors it. "Keep being magical, Y/n-chan."

~ I don't like this wtf did i just write ~

"Alright, that's it," you declare firmly, pushing him out the door. "You're going to be late for work."

He yelps as you suddenly push him, hands flying to secure his sweets. "Whoa! Late for work? Me? Never!" He exclaims, stumbling slightly before regaining his balance. As he steps outside-- this time, of his own free will-- he calls out one last time before disappearing down the street.

"Catch you later, Y/n-chan! And don't work too hard. Or do... Not like I'm complaining." His voice echoes from outside, followed by the sound of his footsteps retreating.

I'm in a different country for the summer, and it's taking a lot of adjusting because the cultures are so different. I'm planning a Karma Akabane drawing sometime in the next two weeks, and possibly a Karushuu one if I can find a reference. Currently, I'm writing a Ranpo fic. Tw: Reader is a murderer, and I know almost nothing about murder case proceedings or whatever else involved. Sudden stroke of inspiration. This will be my first chapter fic on here, and I am still accepting requests. Remember my rules! Thank you! 💙💙💙

Uta and Yukiko smile, exchanging glances and delighted whispers at the child's cute expression. Of course, they could tell the two apart, but for the three-year-old, it was just too much.

After looking back and forth between the twins, she bursts into tears and runs into her mother's arms. Yoriichi stared after her, concerned but keeping his distance in case he was the cause of her tears, while Michikatsu rushed after her.

Well, that's one way to tell.
