GRACE SHERWOOD
Today marks the 315th anniversary of the ducking of Grace Sherwood, known to many as "The Witch of Pungo". Grace was the only person convicted of witchcraft in Virginia by a witch ducking. She was an herbalist, healer and midwife who faced opposition due to her knowledge, as a woman in the turn of the 18th century. A formidable woman, who faced her accusers with her head held high, accepted her trial and punishment with poise, whilst denying her accusers. With the great effort put forth by Belinda Nash and others, then Governor Tim Kaine exonerated Grace on this day, at 10am, 2006, 300 years to the day, hour and minute of her conviction. Today we celebrate this proud woman and her resilience.
May the Goddess bless her and watch over her

Cosmic Shower
This picture is just stunning..... I love to take time to meditate in the shower. I love the feeling of a power shower on the top of my head.. It feels tapotement which is a massage step I use when doing an Indian head massage. I just stand, clear my head and breathe.

It's been a rough few weeks and I've had to remind myself more than once that I'm only "human".
I'm what I would call a semi-empath, I am drawn to people with issues, depression, troubles, etc and I can't help but try my best to help them.
I've always felt that I have broad shoulders, thick skin and the ability to help others and its just who I am, it's part of my nature.
I've decided that I need to make a concerted effort to step back and not to get involved as it's draining me, both physically and mentally.
I've had headaches, aching shoulders, back pain and a tremor in my left eye for over 4 weeks and this has moved on to hellish anxiety pains (made me question if i was having an actual heart attack) clap bang in the middle of my chest.
I've been trying to help 3 different people with a whole variety of issues ranging from depression/extreme sadness to several failed attempts at suicide. The suicidal person I'm trying to take on part of their work load as they are a colleague so as they are not under more stress, however this in turn has made my workload HUGE and im now working extra hours at the weekend (unpaid) to keep on top of my own work. The other 2 are constantly messaging me on fb or instagram asking if ive time to talk.
I'm married, I have 4 children and I work full time from home due to covid. One of my children has an inoperable brain stem tumour and hydrocephalus but I dont lean on anyone when im having a bad day, I just deal with it, sometimes I cry at the smallest things when im alone and that makes me feel better. But, most of the time I just get on with it, what else are you supposed to do?
Anyway, starting today I'm changing things up, im stepping back and putting myself first for a change. If you've read this far, thanks for that , it has actually felt better to get it out and down in black and white.
I hope you are all healthy and happy and continue to go into the new week that way. Remember, you are important !-

Tub Tea and Bath Soaks
WARNING: These recommendations and recipes are not approved for young children or pregnant and/or nursing mothers. Please also take any allergies you have into consideration!
When taking a bath, many people think of relaxation - lighting candles to create a soft glow, a glass of wine in hand and perhaps some soothing music playing in the background. However, baths can be so much more than relaxing: they can also be nourishing to your body.
Using the right combination of ingredients, a bath can reduce inflammation, heal wounds, energize your mind or calm you down. Here are a list of common ‘goals’ for healing baths and the herbs (dry or fresh) you can use to successfully create them:
Soothing: Calendula petals, lemon balm, eucalyptus leaves, Celtic sea salt
Relaxing: Rose petals, lavender leaves, thyme, beebalm, bay leaf, jasmine, white sage, epsom salt
Skin softening: Chamomile, linden, rose petals, chickweed, calendula flowers, ground almonds, rolled oats
Stimulation/Energizing: Mint leaves (peppermint, wintergreen), lemongrass, eucalyptus leaves, rosemary, sea salt
Anti-inflammatory/Pain-relief: Calendula, lemon balm, plantain, rose petals, yarrow, neem, Epsom salt, sea salt

Common Combinations
I highly recommend using a cheesecloth or cloth/paper tea bag for baths involving dried herbs to minimize mess and prevent damage to your drain.
Basic Salt Bath:
¼ to ½ cup herb mixture (I like using 2-3 different types)
¼ to ½ cup Epsom or sea salt
Milk + Honey Bath:
2 cups powdered milk (any kind)
1 cup honey
Pain-relief Oatmeal Bath:
1 cup very finely ground oatmeal (or oat flour)
2 tbsp each: calendula petals, neem, plantain

HOW TO MAKE A HERB DRYER

To make the herb dryer, you will need:
Five twigs that are all about 18 inches long and about 3/8 inch thick.
Twine
Five colors of 7/8″ wide ribbon cut to 52″ long.
Clear hair bands (optional, but really helpful!)
Two long twister ties
Five or more S hooks
Herbs to dry
Scissors

The ribbon was 1 3/4 inches wide, so I cut it in half lengthwise to get 7/8″ wide strips. This worked very well but 3/4″ or 1″ wide would have worked too.

ay your twigs out in a pentagram shape. Try to arrange them so they fit together easily. Use the clear hair bands to secure the ends of the twigs together. This makes it much easier to wrap the twine around the ends without messing up the pentagram shape in the next step!
Cut five pieces of twine about 18 inches long. Wrap one piece around each point and triple knot the ends:

Decide the order of your ribbons. Bring one end under a point of the pentagram and leave about eight inches out on the short end. Wrap the short end of the ribbon around the twigs several times and then triple knot the end. Trim if needed Twist the long end of the ribbon so it will go flat as shown:

Gather the five ribbons together, making sure they stay flat coming up. Gather the five ribbons together, making sure they stay flat coming up.
These ribbons are 24 inches from the pentagram to the gathering point. Secure the ribbons tightly with a twister tie. Allow the ribbon ends to hang down in the middle.

Wash your herbs and pat them dry. Gather your herbs into bunches, and wrap the stem ends with twine. It worked better to wrap the S hooks onto the stems that to try to add them later.

Hang your herb bundles on your herb dryer using the S hooks.

How's your week going ? Mines.....it's been a hellish busy week at work, I've had tension headaches for days now :(
I really need to start practising what I preach ! I'd be the first to tell you to delegate and to tell you that you can only do what you can do.
Some self care is required so I'll pray to the goddess for a quick end to this week and this weekend I'm going to do some tai chi, some proper grounding and meditation and take greater care in what eat as I've let that slide too.
