reading and watching “classic” books and films is such an interesting experience because, before you get into them, when you only know them by name and maybe the vaguest plot outline, they’re intimidating and stuffy and up on a pedestal, but then you finally take the leap and check them out and realize that almost every story that’s achieved such a legendary level of popularity did so because something in its emotional core reached out and grabbed a lot of people by the throat and you are NOT immune.

Today’s bible reading reminded me of something that the Jehovah’s Witnesses had a problem with.
God is omnipresent. He is everywhere.
Claiming Jesus is God confuses JWs, because that would mean that God is not omnipresent, but in one location. They could not understand that God could be omnipresent and Incarnated. It was one or the other.
Today’s reading was from the Old Testament; specifically the creation of the Temple. According to these passages, God will dwell in the Temple and live with His people. Yet, He will still be omnipresent as well.
Funny how this isn’t confusing or controversial, but the idea of the Incarnation is.

"Don't use Libby because it costs libraries too much, pirate instead" is such a weird, anti-patron, anti-author take that somehow manages to also be anti-library, in my professional librarian-ass opinion.
It's well documented that pirating books negatively affects authors directly* in a way that pirating movies or TV shows doesn't affect actors or writers, so I will likely always be anti-book piracy unless there's absolutely, positively no other option (i.e. the book simply doesn't exist outside of online archives at all, or in a particular language).
Also, yeah, Libby and Hoopla licenses are really expensive, but libraries buy them SO THAT PATRONS CAN USE THEM. If you're gonna be pissed at anybody about this shitty state of affairs, be pissed at publishing companies and continue to use Libby or Hoopla at your library so we can continue to justify having it to our funding bodies.
One of the best ways to support your library having services you like is to USE THOSE SERVICES. Yes, even if they are expensive.
*Yes, this is a blog post, but it's a blog post filled with links to news articles. If you can click one link, you can click another.

The problem has been resolved!
(I’m still going to take some extra precautions just in case)
Some days there’s nothing worse than waiting.
There’s a problem I can’t fix, and all I can do now is wait until I hear back from the people who can.
And the hours drag on.

Have you noticed how the worldly advice for how to know when you're ready for sex has shifted from:
"You should be in love with your significant other and trust them very much"
to:
"When you find that person you want to share your body with, you'll just know"
to:
"Just make sure you're safe [using a condom] and both people consent to the act"
We've gone from bad advice to really bad advice to absolutely abysmally horrible advice. I can only imagine what it's like being a teenager today.
The truth is, if you're not ready / too young for marriage, you're not ready for sex. And if you're ready for marriage, be an adult and get married first.

I’ve been (moderately) busy for the past few days, so I haven’t taken the time to update my reading list. The last several books I’ve read were all nonfiction, so I decided that my next book would be fiction.
And I ended up selecting Jaws.
The book came before the movie, so there’s a lot of stuff that got trimmed out during adaptation. It’s a decent read so far, but I think the movie is better.
One reason for this is that the movie understands that the audience is here to watch a shark terrorize a small town.
The book seems like it’s not sure why we’re here, so it keeps randomly focusing on set pieces or awkward moments where people don’t manage to have sex.
Amusingly enough, the edition I’m reading has a big forward by the author, and they openly admit that it was their first published book, with all of the rough edges that implies.

pizza tower or papa’s pizzeria?
Pizza Tower - it’s my first time playing through it.
Definitely glad I picked it up. I’m a huge fan of Warioland 4, so seeing someone give its mechanics a new spin is awesome.
