Ranking The Season Long Death In Paradise Police Characters
Catherine Bordey- Catherine is the heart of the island. Though not an actual cop, she is the mother of one and friend to cops throughout the island. She is kind and helps on cases.
Richard Poole- Richard was an interesting one. He was brilliant but troubled. He could be difficult and outright insulting. He had a miserable past, a miserable present but had the possibility of happiness with Camille. Then he was murdered before he could be happily ever after. He was the interesting driving force for a show.
JP Hooper- JP had the most complete arc of anyone on the show. He was a young police officer who was eager to be the best he could be. The years saw him become a husband and a father. He also learned to grow. He bonded with Dwayne, Ruby and Marlon. He learned to accept and defend people regardless of their faults. He wanted to empower them to be better. He left for a training academy to do just that.
Dwayne Meyers- Dwayne is a womanizer who likes to party. He is also a decent and loyal guy despite occasionally trying to avoid work.
Camille Bordey- Camille was and is a good detective. She also is haughty and quick to anger. She left for adventure but still had empathy for others.
Selwyn Patterson- The Police Commissioner seems to exist to be vaguely menacing to all the police in his charge. He often provides comic relief and helps out on cases.
Humphrey Goodman- Humphrey was a breathe of fresh air. He had to follow the unique Richard Poole. His main attributes seem to be being absentminded and accident prone. He was open to trying new things, brilliant and had a love for riddles. He wanted to embrace life and got a happily ever after.
Jack Mooney- Jack had big dad energy. His main deal was that he actually connected with the island and people rather well. On top of that, he was a brilliant cop.
Darlene Curtis- Darlene had an interesting journey to the police force. She was interested in Jack, then Dwayne, then became a cop. I like her no-nonsense vibe.
Florence Cassell- Florence is one of the longest running characters on the show and one of the ones we arguably know the least about. The romance that affected her for multiple seasons happened almost entirely off-screen. Her main role was helping her commanding officers working on their dreams with no mention of her own. She spent seasons worth of episodes helping Humphrey find love or Neville get out of his shell. So, she's a good cop and a helper.
Marlon Pryce- I wasn't loving Marlon when he was introduced but he's fun. He's reformed but still a bit of a work in progress.
Ruby Patterson- Ruby is only so low on the list because she broke the law so many times in her short tenure as a cop. Still, she was friendly and fun and different than the officers that preceded her.
Neville Parker- Neville is nice. He's a nice nerd who is allergic to things and that's fine.
Naomi Thomas- Naomi seems to be a confident police officer learning to speak up for herself. She is competent and flirts with Marlon.
Fidel Best- Fidel was a guy who was married with kids. He was a stable and solid cop. That's all you need.
Madeleine Dumas- It's not her fault that she's a one season wonder. She was not developed beyond being a cop with an ex.

I'm so sad about Jackie's death. What makes it so sad is they both wanted to apologize and did love each other but were too proud and stubborn to say it first and Jackie died because of it. It also makes sense why Shauna is so repressed and passive aggressive now. The one time in her life she confronted someone, the person she loved most in the world immediately died. Also, Shauna was so protective of her, like watching her poison ivy, making her eat, making sure the girls didn’t turn on her, always looking for her when they were separated or fighting. To go from that to what happened must make it all even worse.
I wonder if Jackie is in some supernatural afterlife? In which case, she can keep hanging with the girls as they pop up.
Well, it seems like Tai has joined the cult but consciously or unconsciously? Because she was bringing a lot of sweetness past and present. Also, I have been shipping Tai/Van this whole season but I was so worried about Simone when she was crawling around and found the altar. R.I.P. Biscuit.
I cannot tell if Misty is really in Lottie’s cult or if she’s just down with group activities. Did Jessica not reach out to anyone before Misty killed her? I wonder if she was actually going to honor the deal.
Nat getting kidnapped seemed to save her life. I like that she was willing to honor her deal with Misty pre-suicide. She’s still a bit of that honorable girl she was in the woods.
Poor Coach having to react to the almost orgy and human sacrifice in the middle of a whole other situation.
So, I saw a theory that in the finale, Shauna/Jackie have it out about Jeff and Jackie storms off and freezes to death.
And that’s why Shauna married Jeff. So, Jackie didn’t die for an affair. She died so Shauna would be with the person she was spending the rest of her life with .
And Jackie being frozen gives them the idea to eat the others slowly over time.
And that’s why all the actors are talking about the finale being heartbreaking.
Anyway, I hope not because I would not be okay after???
