"Mibee, would you lose?"
Mibee:

Hey, some art I did myself, what the heck? I do that? On occasion but only with a few of my OC's cuz most of them are nearly impossible for me to draw correctly. Yes I did have to use a reference image unfortunately but I think that's perfectly okay since I didn't straight up copy it 1-to-1 or use AI. We all gotta learn art somehow!
I would include the reference image but I think you guys already know what it is.

Do you guys give your OCs trauma because it makes them more feel more relatable/realistic, do you give them trauma for character development, or do you give them trauma for another reason?
I personally give them trauma for both of the listed reasons and because I myself have experienced a bit of trauma. I put a little of myself into my characters (yes even into the villains). I'll explain a few trauma's and common themes I include with my characters below the cut
Most of my OCs are either orphaned, adopted, or have pretty shitty parents. The way I make sense of this oddly common theme is that the ones with shitty parents represent my crappy dad (and sometimes offensive or uncaring mom), the adopted ones represent my desire to have a loving family, and the orphaned ones represent the absent father that I eventually cut off in my life.
Another common theme is a lot of my female OCs experience misogyny (one even has been SA'd multiple times by multiple people). I see a common theme in real life of women being called names or slutshamed for doing something as small as wearing a crop top. I don't like that, and I definitely don't like the fact that a character I created had to deal with that, however that doesn't stop it from being a reality so why should I soften the blow by making my OCs live perfect little lives just because something irks me?
Last but not least, a lot of my male OCs are more submissive or at least less outspoken and headstrong than the women. This is because as a guy myself who struggles with anxiety and have general low self esteem, I want to represent men's mental health in a way that shows that men aren't always as strong or bold as society wants them to be. After all, I myself have been told to "suck it up" so many times by people when all the women around me have been given reassurance and much less harsh advice. Now I'm not saying all of my male OCs are anxiety ridden, soft boys who need to be protected by the women, in fact one of my male OCs is highly overprotective of his wife (who is trans btw) and will actively try to kill anyone who harms his wife. But that doesn't discount the fact that men can in fact struggle with things as well hence most of my male OCs being a bit on the softer side compared to the women.

Yo anybody else be in a car ride or just chillin in your bed with headphones on, vibing to your music with your eyes closed then suddenly your imagination is like "Okay now what if your OCs were doing some epic shit to this banger?" Like the amount of times I've just put Bury The Light on repeat imagining the final battle between my OCs and the main villains with the final villain is at least a few too many. I gotta refine the details in my brain okay!!

Guys I'm pretty sure Texas is objectively the worst state now. I have a list of grievances to explain why. Now let's see...
鈥ell phones are soon to be banned in schools, along with mandatory ten commandments displayed in classes (which is in total opposition of separating church and state, one of the main reasons America was founded)
鈥ne of the lowest safety requirements for buying and owning guns (which also contributes to a gun crime level that is even higher than the national average)
鈥HC currently faces a total ban including medicinal marijuana which will hurt so many people who need those products for pain and anxiety.
鈥hey pre-emptively (as in before anything even began) deployed the national gaurd to several Texas cities ahead of the "No Kings" protests in order to try to intimidate people out of utilising their right to free speech.
鈥ost rural areas (and some larger cities as well) are excessively homophobic and transphobic, not to mention racist. A lot of people are also highly ableist and often discriminate against people due to disabilities.
鈥nd last but not least this place is infested with MAGAs and if anyone knows their reputation.. Well you get why this is a grievance.
I won't say I know about other states. This is purely my opinion (which is kinda biased since I live in Texas myself). So if you think your state is the worst, it just might be, not saying it isn't. This is subjective after all. I just wanted to rant a little bit.
So take this as a warning for anyone who is queer, disabled, a parent, or a part of any religion other than Christianity. DO NOT MOVE HERE! YOU WILL BE DISCRIMINATED AGAINST! PLEASE SPARE YOURSELVES THE SUFFERING!
Anyway if you read this, thanks for listening to me ramble about how bad my own state sucks ass.

Oh and uhh, in honor of me revamping this blog... Uhh take an image of one of my OC's and a small (this is a lie) lore dump. Art done by the amazing, totally epic, absolutely awesome artist @less-depresso-more-espresso (I think they forgot to watermark this piece)
Oh forgot to mention this guy's name is Yantiche. He very much has "crackhead energy" as his personality is somewhat based on Mahito from JJK. That being said this man is more than some murderous lunatic. There's a reason he's "crazy" though. I kinda wanted to make a bad guy/villain that is unapologetically evil yet still someone who can be related to or sympathized with. TLDR version at the bottom.
鈿狅笍TW: Graphic descriptions of violence, several mentions of mental illness, death, and suicide鈿狅笍
I know that sounds really bad but let me explain! Yantiche has been obsessed with death for as long as he's had consciousness. In other words, he's been suicidal from day one. He has a ton of other issues too but I'll get into that later. The problem with him being suicidal is he's immortal. Not only is he unable to die, he doesn't even have a crazy healing factor, just a normal human healing factor. So he came up with the great idea of "if I can cause enough havoc, maybe the gods will finally remove my immortaility and kill me." Only problem? Other people have to be the cost of that havoc.
When Yantiche was merely ten years old he found his first victims. His own parents. In their sleep he took a kitchen knife a slit both of their throats. He somehow managed to bury their bodies without being found out. Being immortal he couldn't die from starvation nor dehydration so he just kind of stayed isolated in his house until he built up enough strength to start his serial killing career.
By the time he was sixteen he had built his body up enough to be stronger than most average adults. He also had welded a blade made out of indyetium (the strongest metal in his world, think something akin to vibranium in Marvel) and implanted it where his right arm used to be. Yes he chopped off his own arm to replace it with a blade.
This is when he really started killing. His first new victim in six years was a local gas station employee. Then a florist. Then a soldier that had just returned home. Then one of his old classmates. And the bodies kept piling up. Within the time Yantiche had been building his physical strength up he had also discovered he had access to a pocket dimension that resembled his childhood home and the massive field around it. This is where he stored his victim's bodies as no one could find the bodies there. Yantiche kept occasionally trying to kill himself just to see if his immortality had been taken away with no luck. That's how he came up with the idea to start stitching pieces of his victims bodies into himself to make up for his lack of regeneration.
After at least one hundred people disappeared the local police finally caught on that something was wrong. They only issue was there was never any trace of the bodies, and no fingerprints at any of the locations where these innocent people were killed. At least no finger prints that could be used to identify Yantiche, as each one of his fingers belonged to a different person.
After Yantiche killed over 250 people he realized he wasn't going to make any progress towards death without traveling all over the world but instead of traveling across his planet he broke into a military space station, killed hundreds, if not thousands of soldiers and launched himself into space with no previous pilot training. Needless to say his space trip didn't last long as he crash landed on a nearby planet which killed a good ten more people.
He went on a killing spree on that planet only to realize they didn't have space travel yet. So he started utilizing the portals in and out of his pocket dimension to travel to all sorts of planets, all across the universe. By the time he was 30 he had amassed a collection of ten thousand bodies. I say collection because he kept every single bit of flesh, aside from internal organs that he didn't need for anything.
Now about those other issues he had. Yantiche is suicidal and homicidal, that's obvious. He also has an inferiority complex which causes him to tend to lash out even more violently than usual when he thinks people are looking down on him, even though they usually aren't. He has depression as well due to being unable to achieve his goal of dying and will occasionally have week long depressive episodes where he won't do anything but lay around in his bed. He won't cry, he won't fight, he'll just lay there stuck until he eventually gets the motivation to start killing again.
TLDR: Yantiche is suicidal but he can't die so he decided to make it everyone else's problem by killing a whole bunch of people. He gets depressed, kills a bunch of people, gets angry, kills even more people, gets depressed again, and the cycle continues until he can finally achieve death.
