A fanfic idea:

Bruce was able to rescue Jason before he died, and after this experience, Jason stopped being Robin.

He became afterwards the golden child, he goes to college (with a scholarship), helps out in the city library, teaches children (helps with their homeworks and helps them to study), works part time in a car garage in crime alley, and is a supportive brother.

And it pisses his siblings off.

Because there has to be something fishy because no one, really no one, is that perfect.

And there is something fishy.

He is also Red Hood.

No one knows, and the vigilantes never talk to Jason about "the family business" because he needs to concentrate on his studies and other stuff.

So imagine, Batmans suprise when the JL was able to catch Red Hood.

Someone takes Jasons helmet off in front of Batman, Nightwing, and other members

And Jason, who wears also a domino mask, doesn't look Batman in the face even as he says :

"Hey Dad. I can explain."

And Dick loses his shit, he laughs so hard because, Jason, The golden child, the one who gave up on being a vigilante, who reads to children in the library, is a goddamn crimelord.

Bruce just stands there frozen because wtf Jason?!

And Dick takes selfies with Jason being tied up and calles the other Batkids in because they should definitely not be left out of it.

no more cold and calculating i want warm and calculating. i want characters who use deductive reasoning to figure out whether their friend would like a wool or cotton quilt based off of their lifestyle, career, hobbies, and habits. i want "your nails are often chipped because you work for a law firm as a typist for this company which notoriously underbudgets their IT department, so ive bought you a keyboard cover that will not only prevent manicure damage but is also sensory friendly because I know you dislike certain clicking noises". i want characters who figure out their friends entire schedules and social battery levels just by examining who only use that info to know when the best time is to hang out with them. i want characters who create elaborate, supervillain level schemes just to get their hands on some collectible they know their best friend wants. most of all i want characters who do not use intelligence and reasoning skills as a reason to be cruel but as a means to be kind

War Games and Under the Red Hood being right next to each other makes me lose my shit. There is no gap between these stories and Judd Winick even wrote part of War Games but he doesn't seem to realise how wild it is to follow that up with UTRH.

War Games is about Batman trying to gain control of Gotham's gangs as harm reduction, not stopping their activities but monitoring and controlling them via his ally, Orpheus, who is propped up to lead all the gangs in a coalition. He is unable to do this and it all ends in disaster.

5 seconds later, Jason returns to Gotham and gains control of most of the gangs real quick and then takes out his competitors. He does what Bruce was unable to do and for the same reason, to reduce harm.

But Bruce's actions are framed as heroic and Jason's aren't. Judd Winick himself said "Along with handing out his own brand of justice, he does believe that crime can be controlled. Batman had said it makes you a crime lord. Jason doesn't think it makes him a crime lord at all. He thinks it makes him a much more effective Batman."

I must ask how is it that this makes Jason a crime lord but Bruce wasn't one when he was trying to control the Gotham gangs five seconds ago. How is Bruce on his high horse like "Jason is a crime lord in denial"? What was he five seconds ago then?

And yeah, Jason is more violent than Bruce was of course, but instead of trying to work with him and get him to his side/to be less violent like he did with the other gang leaders, he immediately goes on the offensive.

Then Bruce slits Jason's throat to save Joker right after firing Stephanie because "We don't use potentially lethal force." What Steph did was markedly less dangerous than slicing someone's throat. The hypocrisy of it all.

i think sometimes 'jane austen girly' jason todd would try and screw with damian after getting particularly agitated by his never-ending formality, and just start matching it in every conversation.

he turns into a walking shakespeare play until damian himself gets annoyed at the way he's being spoken to and tones it down.
