Listening to random old wtnv eps, sometimes you get hit with throwaway lines that have more relevance than their delivery implies

Sometimes they are directly relevant to an ongoing plot, or a running gag,

But sometimes you really can't tell if the information is ever going to become relevant at all or if its just one of the writers' brain worms that keeps coming up every now and again

And anyway, I was listening to the strangers episode, and there was a throwaway lines about scientists believing that the 30% of the world that wasn't water was a great sea creature

And usually when Cecil say scientists, he usually means Carlos

And it was mentioned in one of the university of what it is series, I think it was Carlos, explained, that Carlos originally studied marine biology (i think, I remember it had something to do with marine cuz it struck me as a little quirky

And Carlos is out in the middle of a desert doing his research (and sometimes its a little bit implied that he studies science itself? Sometimes I wonder...

Thinkin bout how Carlos spent 10 years in the desert otherworld before he was able to re-enter night vale proper bc he wasn't considered to be a citizen of the town, and how Cecil made a big event of Carlos having lived in night vale 10 years bc it officially made him a resident of the town, not knowing he'd spent 10 years in a time dilated desert other world, and that the likely reason Carlos was able to return to night vale proper after those 10 years that Cecil didn't know about was that the town recognized him as a resident after those 10 years to allow him to return

My internal dialogue every time I reach for a sheet of printer paper to check how big my circle pan is:

Fuckin Americans, anything but the metric system for a measurement

Dude, you literally wrote an argumentative essay back in high school for the use of the metric system in America while you actively didn't own a measuring cup and were guestimating baking measurements using random other tablewares, why are you like this

Dude, you know that's a 9 inch pan, you have a good grasp of measurement by now, you don't need to check it, you're not even sure you saw an 8 inch pan available at the store when you bought it, this is America, why would corporations pass up selling you more than you need with no consideration for excess material and space waste

The short side of printer paper is conveniently 8.5 inches long, so if the diameter of the pan is larger, it's a 9 inch and if it's shorter, it's an 8 inch

Normally when my dreams wake me up at 2am it's because they start to take a dark turn that I don't want to think about

Today I wake up at 2am because i finished drafting my argument for possible reasoning for certain places being closed on the week of local elections (situationally in the dream they were having an emergency election due to the mayor dying) in the town it took place in (no way is this factual in any way) (if you're curious, it was tge local liquerstore/grocers, dammit I forgot the second one, and the office responsible for taking votes) (in the context of the dream, this was for some kind of unprepared debate contest thing in a small town)

Anyways, I woke up cuz I started thinking too hard about the Edgar allen poe possible death by voting sceme where thugs dress you up in a bunch of different clothes and send you back to vote multiple times, back before there was anyway to verify your identity at the voting box, and the voting people gave you a commentary celebratory drink before you left
