dropped another fic! Better Than Ice Cream, for the @badthingshappenbingo prompt Vehicular Accident.

Summary:

Up ahead, a logging truck turns onto the highway. It's going quite a bit slower than the rest of the cars, but is accelerating to catch up. Carlos slows down to accommodate it, and that's when the guy behind him lays on the horn.

There's a split second where Carlos gets nervous—an irrational fear from watching the second Final Destination movie with their friends a few days ago. He reminds himself that it's just a movie. It's still daylight out, the roads aren't slick with rain or ice—these are ideal driving conditions. He's never so much as scratched the paint on any car he's owned. It's fine.

Just a dumb movie.

This concept is inspired by music monday, a tag Harley started over a year ago. It has been reworked for the purposes of this zine, but the basic idea is still the same. This is where you gush about your favorite songs as they relate to the show!

college club AU?

tk is on the college swim team, and it's his first year as captain. tk also is a certified lifeguard and works at the pool as a part-time job.

carlos is on the robotics team, which has slowly been doing better and better each year. this year, they're working on an aquatic lifeguard robot for their competitions.

one day, carlos books out the pool for the robotics team to run tests on their robot. the problem is, facilities accidentally booked robotics over the swim team's spot and with everything tk has going on, he didn't notice the error in his confirmation email. he and carlos get into it before they realize it was all a big misunderstanding.

the robotics team needs a lifeguard consultant for their project, and carlos gets sent tk's contact information from facilities management.

carlos is initially hesitant to call tk because they got off on the wrong foot but once they start texting, they don't stop.

no you have to contribute to your fandom if you don't want it to die. most fandoms die because people say 'it's so sad watching the fandom die when the hype dies' without doing anything about it. I'm not saying you have to push out 100k word slow-burn fic, I'm not saying you have to make fan art or gif sets or edits or anything. I'm just saying we as a community should contribute to our fandom if we don't want it to die, and by contributing, I'm talking about giving kudos, commenting on your favorite fics, reblogging your favorite art and just talking about your favorite characters. that's enough to keep a fandom alive. that's the most effective way to keep a fandom alive in my humble opinion.

fandoms die because people stop talking about it, fandoms die because people stop engaging with fan content once the hype is gone. what I'm saying is, mainstream media's hype may be gone, but our fandom can stay alive and thriving if us as a community don't let it die.
