A renfalsetyn idea for the flowers ask, perchance?
Martyn doesn't *care* much for flowers. Flowers are just... Flowers. He doesn't think anything special of them. It's a shame, therefore, they're intrinsically connected to who he is as a person. He much prefers the tree part.
But, there are benefits! It's a lot harder to gift a tree to people he cares about. Flowers are nice and easy, much less commitment. Not that he has less commitment! Just-
Ugh. Flowers are pretty. So are his partners. Jeez.

Flowers were a sacred thing in the Life Series. They were like a secret code for alliances and relationships and meant so much more than just pretty petals and sweet fragrances. Scott giving Jimmy poppies, Scar and Grian gifting each other lilacs and poppies, Cleo gifting her allies cornflowers, and so on. Sometimes it would carry on into the other games and sometimes it wouldn't, relationships don't last long when you're meant to kill each other.
There was one alliance, however, that stuck through all the games, regardless of who's side they were one and their flowers had gone almost unnoticed in the chaos of the games. And that was Ren and Martyn.
Martyn had gifted Ren a rose sometime after they agreed to be business partners for Dogwarts. As corny as it was, it represented his devotion and love for the dog hybrid. They made their flag out of crushed roses. Ren gave Martyn a bouquet of roses after his beheading, along with some other gifts to try and make up for the trauma he forced onto his Hand. The exchanged roses at the final battle, clutching them as they died side by side.
Ren gifted Martyn a rose when they bumped into each other during Last Life and when he asked him to join the Shadow alliance. Martyn noticed Big B's cheating and went to Ren with a bouquet. Ren forced a rose brooch made of gold for both of them after joining the Broken Hearts Club. Martyn was puzzled why Tango gave him a rose in Secret Life but realized why by the way his tail was wagging. They surrounded their entire base in roses during Wild Life.
Martyn complains (it's not actually a complaint, he's just whining) about how everytime he sees Ren's stupid shirt, he thinks of roses. Thus, he thinks of how much he loves Ren.
Maybe he should start wearing a rose scented perfume. As revenge. Nothing more.

grian’s never forgotten the flowers scar gave him back in third life. he never goes out of his way to find them, but whenever he sees poppies and lilacs together, it’s like he’s taken right back there, standing over a ravine in the desert as his partner timidly asks if they can stay together, softly pleading that his death won’t change their relationship
it warms his heart, how hard scar tried for him back then, and it hurts that he knows they can never be like that again
In some ways, that's for the better. They're no longer co-dependent, forced into a death game. Grian doesn't feel responsible for Scar, and Scar doesn't feel guilt for Grian looking after him.
But Grian still thinks fondly of it. After all, it showed they really could stay together through anything.

Joining a Lizzie alliance is basically signing a contract that says “I give LDShadowLady permission to cover me in flowers.”
Everyone in Last Life has to learn this the hard way.
BigB and Cleo wake up to find two flower crowns sat on a crafting table next to the secret tunnel, Ren gets one handed to him on his next visit to Lizzie’s after becoming her knight.
But as for Martyn, he is given not only a flower crown but also a bundle of flowers everytime he visits Lizzie or goes to a Shadow Alliance meeting. He notices though that Cleo doesn’t do this with the other members, even if they arrive after he does he doesn’t see any flowers gifts being given.
He pulls Ren aside one day and asks him about it, questioning why he gets more than the others. Ren merely brushes it off with a “I don’t know dude” but what he doesn’t tell Martyn is that he himself has asked Lizzie about it, and the only answer he got was a red face, deflections and excuses.
Ren is fairly sure he does know. But, he thinks it's up to Martyn to figure out for himself. He doesn't think Lizzie confessing is going to happen first, that's for sure.

!For theme!
Gem grows flowers. It’s not something anyone on the magic mountain crew expected yesterday she has a flower bed but they don’t expect literal flowers to be blooming in her hair!
Rando anon
In her hair, across their floors, sometimes up their walls... Gem is entirely unapologetic, of course. If they'd decorated more then they wouldn't have flowers everywhere!

Sometimes Skizz remembers back to before he had fallen, an Angel of human ambition (a truly stupid idea to make an angel out of a concept they didn’t fully understand). He remembers his trips to the Underworld, he felt as if the heat was too much, like it burned him even if he only looked at the place.
The heavens had been Skizz’s home his entire life, a place of ivory and quartz, a place cold to the touch that sent most hybrids into hypothermia. But it was all Skizz knew. The heavens had been Skizz’s everything, even if their words had left him feeling so empty.
Shocker, Skizz eventually fell from the heavens (surprise surprise, human ambition doesn’t react nicely with angel ideals). He spent the longest time roaming the overworld, getting used to the temperature of the earth (Skizz hated to admit just how much he hated the snowy biomes).
Eventually he made his way to a private server, angels weren’t exactly restricted from accessing any server they wanted, and Skizz decided that he may as well watch these players do their thing for a while. He wasn’t meant to get attached. He was an Angel, he wasn’t meant to get attached (maybe they made him too “human”).
Skizz starts paying special attention to the demon on the server, Impulse, he learns. Impulse is so nice, different than anything he’d been taught to believe about demons. Hope sparks in Skizz’s chest, maybe there’s someone out there like him, cast out from his home for being too different.
Skizz starts having one sided conversations with these players (hermits as they call themselves), talking to them about anything and everything. He knows they can’t hear or see him, but it brings some hope to his heart.
He holds his wings over the netherborn’s heads when it’s raining, he can still block the rain even if they can’t see. He still hugs them when they’re crying, even if they can’t feel. Skizz has finally found what his purpose was, these players, these hermits.
—— —— ——
Impulse has been feeling an angelic presence following them for the past few seasons. At first he was worried, maybe a stray Angel was coming to take him out, but eventually he started to grow used to the presence. The angle becoming a weird constant in his life.
The others had spoken of the angel, Tango mentioning how it had been protecting them from the rain, or how other hermits would find themselves in bed despite falling asleep elsewhere. The angel provided to be a great addition to the server, even if not fully known.
The moon crash in season eight was a hard time, Tango and Impulse had spent weeks searching for Zedaph. Zedaph had denied that the moon would crash up until the very end, and they had been worried that maybe Zed never made it out.
Then Zed had shown up at their door, but he wasn’t alone. Zed was held tightly in the arms of a new figure, one with black hair, blue eyes, and ivory wings. Their angel. They didn’t get a moment to ask questions before the angel collapsed, obviously tired from the rescue mission.
Impulse cared for the angel, not letting anyone but Tango and Zed near him. He had time to finally look at the angel who had been looking over them for seasons (their guardian angel? Something about his attire told Impulse that maybe he wasn’t an angel anymore), he had scars covering most of his body, a suit with the sleeves ripped off, and the most beautiful blue eyes (he’d only seen them for a moment but Impulse knew they could rival the beauty of the prettiest gems)
—— —— ——
When Skizz saw the moon crash he only had one thought, protecting the hermits. He watched as everyone left, but Zedaph was left behind. Skizz liked Zedaph. Tango and Impulse liked (loved?) Zedaph, and Skizz would rather fall from heaven again than leave Zed to die.
Skizz swooped him into his arms, mustering an amount of power he hadn’t used since he’d fallen to teleport both him and Zed to safety. Skizz couldn’t waste any time recharging his energy, pulling together what little he had left to find his way to the only hermit that it wouldn’t hurt to find.
Impulse was a demon, and Angels were designed to function like a demon’s other half, so Skizz tuned into the magic in the nature around him, finding the familiar pull of a demon and following it.
Once he got to the door, he only managed to knock on the door and catch a glance of Tango and Impulse before he felt his vision go black.
—— —— ——
Impulse watched with anticipation as the angel opened his eyes, quickly pulling him closely into a hug. “Thank you” Impulse would whisper, the angel’s wings wrapping around him gently.
It's strange to think back to that time. Any time that Skizz wasn't an ever present part of their lives. Perhaps made stranger by the fact Skizz was with them for so much longer than his physical presence.
And Skizz finds it strange that he ever thought they wouldn't accept him. No, ZIT nursed him to health (even Zedaph, despite Tango and Impulse trying to keep him in bed!) Then they vouched for him to the other hermits... After a lot of debate if they should just sneak him in and pretend he was there all along.
Now, even the hermits think of Skizz when thinking about the other three! How wasn't it like this all along?

mumpearl for the theme please???
Mumbo loves Pearl's flower crown. Every time he sees it, he smiles. Though, he does that every time he sees Pearl but it's like an enhanced smile! A smile bonus.
So it's hard to stop smiling when Pearl gifts him one of his own. And when she squeezes his cheeks and calls him adorable, he just might melt!

Etho owning a flower shop, beef having the tattoo shop, bdubs with the Cafe. Let the au commence
The only downside with all of them running shops is that they... Don't have a lot of time to see each other. So maybe Etho gets Beef or Bdubs visiting asking for flowers. And maybe Bdubs gets Beef and Etho doing coffee runs.
And maybe Beef just gets them bothering him. At least they bring interesting things to inspire his designs...

thinkin bout those asks of monster grian being accepted by the hermits,,, hwat if not all of them did. what if some hermits are quick to set their hanss on the handles of their weapons. what if some of htme cant be in the same room as his de-magicked form because it makes them panic
what if his worst fears of being thrown out and unloved for being who he is have a much bigger basis than any of them want to admit
They promise they wouldn't, and Grian knows deep down that's true. But it doesn't stop the lingering doubt that maybe it would be better if he did leave. It's unfair for the hermits to live in fear. It's unfair for himself to live in fear.
There's a lot of work to do.

ever since Scar gave Grian flowers in 3rd Life to ask if they could still be friends, it'd become a tradition to get each other flowers at least once a month (or occasionally, every two weeks)
At first it was for Scar to blow off giving his crush flowers as a platonic gesture (he didn't think his feelings were reciprocated)...and the flowers stopped for a bit in Double Life when Scar was upset...but after they started dating, it became their way of sort of- nonverbally saying I love you
Lilacs, poppies, and sunflowers were always AT LEAST somewhere in their house...
They even had them at their wedding
They've tried other flowers, but none have the same meaning. They keep those to decorate, but keep their special trio of flowers close.
It also turns out there are a lot of ways to cook with the flowers when they really have brought each other too much! A perfect staple for their date nights.

Flowers weekly theme? You’re basically asking for zombiewood /lh
Cornflowers are Cleo’s favourite flower, they’re a beautiful blue and have a sweet meaning; beauty, purity and grace aswell as wealth, pride and good fortune, all things Cleo aspires for. Cleo also prides themself on giving a cornflower to every one of her allies.
A cornflower in Bdubs moss jackets pocket, a small one welded onto a ring for Impulse, another in Tangos chest pocket. One tucked into Lizzie’s flower crown, a cornflower on BigBs bracelet to match the cookie one Cleo has, and ofc one strapped to Rens belt. Scott and Pearl get one aswell, Pearl keeping hers on a necklace around her neck and Scott nestling his into his hair.
Martyn never expected to get one. He knew all about Cleo’s flower ritual, the gift from them that meant that she cared and she’d protect you, that they’d die for you. Ren had told him all about it when he asked in Last Life of course, Martyns curious it’s finally being answered.
So when Cleo hands him one absentmindedly as they’re talking, the two of them chatting on opposite sides of the tiny cobblestone wall “protecting” the Ranch he’s surprised, tucking it into his hoodies pocket and not mentioning it as to not ruin the moment of peace tbe two seem to have.
But Cleo doesn’t mention it either, and now he doesn’t know if the cornflower he’s turning about in his hands hours later, in the safety of his heart base, actually means anything. Does she forgive him? Do they still hate him? Did they ever hate him? He doesn’t know, and maybe he never will.
But he wears it anyway, positioning it on his headband for all to see. Cleo might have meant the cornflower as nothing, but to Martyn it meant everything and he was going to make sure everybody knows it.
It leaves it up to Cleo, he thinks. Which is a scary thing, jeez! Martyn hates it. He's always hated leaving things in others' hands. Leaving his heart? Well...
From the way he involuntarily smiles when he catches sight of the flower amongst his hair... He thinks it'll be worth the risk.

Though she’s pulled away from the cottagecore aesthetic as of late, Impulse can’t help but think of Gem anytime he sees flowers
When he first met her in S8, her base was always in full bloom and the scent of pollen followed her wherever she went. When he fell for her in S9, her elven palace was teeming with beautiful curated gardens
He loved anything that she did, was in love with her and not her latest look— but privately, any time he saw flower fields, he imagined her
- @geminitaymybeloved
He couldn't quite place when flowers started to decorate him as well. The flowers Gem would gently tuck in his hair, the bouquets she'd gift him, the various potted plants that have snuck into his house (because Gem had no room, please Impulse!)
He guesses Gem is living rent free with him in more than one way.

zedaph’s never really been much of a flower guy. that being said, he can’t deny that the sunflowers in grian’s wheat fields add a whole other level of beauty and brightness to his base, not to mention how grian’s face lights up when he compliments them
Zed might sneak one. Ya know. For his own base. Research purposes. Turns out they do brighten his base as well!
Especially when Grian fills his base to the brim with them. Zed probably deserves that...

Some polyhermits w/ cub focus pls??
Life has been strange since connecting with the skulk. Cub thought he was pretty adaptable, but turns out things can still catch him off guard. There's a lot to like about it, but some things he likes less.
The biggest one? Flowers.
They don't grow easily in infected soil, if they take at all. Cub loves looking at the star-like patterns, mesmerised by the beauty and gentle pulse... But he misses the bright pops of colour flowers provide. Even his touch can be enough to infect them if he's not careful.
The hermits notice their Cub being down about it. Especially with all the brightness of the fireworks, how sad that colour can't be everywhere in Cub's life! So they do what they do best, pulling together and grinding.
It doesn't take long until they're presenting a carefully curated flower field for Cub. There's a pathway going through so he doesn't need to touch the soil, even patches for him to lay under trees. There are benches, tables and a small gazebo! A colourful piece of paradise. Perfect not just for Cub, but for the rest of the hermits to have dates too!

Martyn was talking to Jimmy about some of the improvements they should make in Tumble Town, the usual bigger buildings/attractions talk, when they hear a familiar yowling of a cat. They look over to see Jellie running towards them. Martyn kneels down to see if she's been hurt. Jellie yowls in his face and takes off running the way she came from. They figure something must be wrong so they follow her.
They find Scar passed out in the middle of the street. He's red in the face, sweating, and panting for air. It tends to get pretty hot in Tumble Town, so it's likely Scar passed out from heat exhaustion. Martyn tells Jimmy to get everything ready whole he picks up Scar. Jimmy runs off to the saloon to get everything ready, and with some struggle, Martyn manages to pick up Scar and carry in up the stairs of the saloon and into one of the rooms. They have a couple of fans going, a pitcher of water, a cool rag against his forehead, anything to help calm him down. Jimmy leaves to take care of his sheriff duties while Martyn stays with Jellie and Scar.
Scar wakes up and sees Martyn sitting next to the bed.
"Hey handsome, you doing ok?"
"I think i died. I see an angel sitting next to me"
Martyn laughs.
Thankfully (well not exactly but it's close enough), they have experience dealing with this. A lot of people make the trek to Tumble Town without proper preparation, Jimmy's been meaning to ask Shelby if she gets a similar issue!
But it doesn't take long to get Scar back on his feet. Martyn puts him to work helping Jimmy as payment (which Scar was planning to do anyway.)
And maybe spends a bit more time than necessary hanging around the man... And his cat, of course.

Who looks after the zoo when Scar can't?
So far, no one been able to answer that question. Scar's fine, he says, and he's too stubborn to pick someone himself, because he knows that someone will do it if they have to, but they won't, because he's fine, and whenever the rest of the hermits try to pick someone themselves, Scar insists that he can do it himself.
They eventually convince him to at least tell someone that he needs a little help, so they're not left to figure it out themselves. Only issue with that is that Scar always goes to Grian first with these things, and Grian always puts Scar first, rather than his chores.
It ends up falling to Bdubs. Scar trusts his brother with the horses at least, hopefully he'll be good with the rest of them. Except then Bdubs hurt his hands... So much for that.
He'll just get someone to help him automate it.. Someday. For now, he's just gonna enjoy having Grian around all the time.
- 💜
It's not the most efficient for them to always be doing tasks together, which maybe counteracts the whole idea of this... But Scar isn't giving up on his Grian time so easily!
The problem is never getting solved...

Cleo's doesn't have an opinion about flowers. She has some around for decorations like everyone else. Getting flowers? Never. That's some mush for other people. Until, someone starts leaving flowers in their mailbox. A single flower with a note each time.
“Thinking of you.” It must be a mistake? The standard text doesn't give any hints as to who it is. “You're like my elytra, I can't get anywhere without you.” This one gets her, it's funny in a way they adore. Still no signature. And, then: “I should make this obvious, but I'm a bird brain.” That's very suspicious. Some time passes and Cleo thinks the culprit has given up. But then: “I've “caught feelings” like the kids say. But, I'm afraid if i keep sending them you'll throw them away. ~ False” Handwritten this time, and signed by the number one suspect. It's their turn to send a note.
“My dearest budgie bird, have a little faith that I'll keep your feelings safe. Thanks for the flowers and the dreadfully sappy notes. I loved them. I thought you already knew how I felt? Come here now. -Your Zomble. XOX.” It's hand written and on fancy paper.
Cleo teases False a little, once they're curled up together. Mostly because they were starting to worry it was Grian sending the flowers and notes! Cleo loves the guy, but maybe not quite that much.
Instead, they show False all the flowers she sent. Cleo pressed each one to keep in a book, along with the note that came with it.
They add Cleo's note at the end.
