Fun fact: I only write HH!Bruce the way he is cause that’s the conclusion I came up after seeing panels of Canon Bruce. And even then, I try toning it down.

I know that from Tom’s POV he is probably the worst father ever, but, they did have good moments… it’s just that miscommunication, and a lot of resentment from Tom’s part make him only remember the worst moments.

Not saying that he is a great dad in HH AU either, but, he is complex and fails a lot.

Some other Hope Verse OCs

Okay, sosince I mentioned quite a few times that Tom knew kids around his age who were superhero children, although I know some heroes have canon children, DC canon is a mess enough already, so I think it's safer to just create my own.

So, let's start with those kids Tom was around (that aren't Damian, Jon or Lizzie).

They aren't completely canon for now, and I may create more (or search more for canon kids that could be around Tom's age).

Chase Queen/Night Crow:

Chase is Green Arrow's kid.

Summing up, he isn't much different from Oliver.

Chase is mostly known for being a rebel who is practically unable of respecting any rules.

He is also cocky and overconfident.

He is also known for being a heartthrob.

Never really understood why Tom didn't want to become a hero, cause he loves getting out at night and fighting bad guys.

Thinks he and Tom were friends... Tom remembers it a bit different.

(I know Green Arrow has a canon child, but, again, DC lore is a mess, so...)

Alex Jordan:

Hal Jordan's kid.

A bit cocky too, and brags a lot about his victories.

Usually doesn't pay much attention to what other's are saying if it doesn't involve him.

(Tom used to see him as a bit annoying, but didn't say anything cause he was too polite).

Not the best person to vent too, being honest...

(I considered using @bluesheep23 's Ace as reference, but, I didn't find the docs).

Nixie Curry:

Aquaman's kid.

Nixie, as the princess of Atlantis, is a bit arrogant. She is a bit of the stereotype of the rich girl who can be a bit mean.

She isn't a bully or anything, though. But, still, she isn't the best at making friends and prefers working alone.

Tom was never close to her due to how closed off she has always been.

She is a great warrior though.

Leo Constantine:

Character by @batink / @w3atherboy, let's assume he is canon for now... but might not be in the future XD

Leo is Constantine's kid. Similarly to Tom, he never exactly met his mother and grew up unsure about his own past.

He and John weirdly get along well here in the AU, though. John may not be functional enough to raise a kid, but he loves his son and they still get along.

Leo was the one Tom was the closest too. They had similar tastes and similar feelings. And they understood a bit each other's feeling.

However, as soon as Tom met Liam, Noah and Ryan... he started drifting away.

Leo still worries about what happened to Tom...

Robin Swap AU but HH edition - Part 1

Okay, so, you know the AUs where Dick swaps place with Damian, Jason with Tim, Cass with Steph, and Barbara with Duke (I think these are the usual swaps).

Have you ever wondered how Tom would work in the AU? Well, since he is the youngest, he should swap with the oldest (cause this AU works with pairs based on their "mirror" counterpart when it comes to addition to the family), which you might say it's Dick... but what if she swapped with Bruce himself?!

So, here I will explain the first swaps for the AU!

Thomas Bryce Wayne - Gear Man

Tom was the son to one of the wealthiest families of Gotham... however, his family was far from a fairytale.

His father was a man named Bryce... and he was cold and cruel as both father and husband.

His mother, on the other hand, Mallory, was a sweet lady, but couldn't speak against her husband.

One day, however, his father, who got himself involved with some powerful evil people, was murdered alongside his wife.

Tom and his little brother, Damian, were severely impacted by that event.

Tom, seeing how dangerous the world worked, decided to study all he could about science so that he could make Gotham a safer place. Seeing that wouldn't work, however, he started training himself physically... which gave birth to the hero named "Gear Man"!

Gear Man is know as Gotham's fatherly figure, fighting criminals and protecting children from the harsh reality around them.

Unlike Batman, who is seen as more of a vigilante that is terrified by the Gothamites, Gear Man is beloved and adored... the criminals, on the other hand, are just as terrified at him.

No one suspects that the depressed and shy Billionaire Tom Wayne with zero confidence, and that barely appears in public, is also this symbol of Hope.

Reverse!Tom doesn't have situationships like his equivalente. He only dated Lime (the leader of a corrupt organization), Matteo (a spellcaster who fooled him in the past) and Leo Constantine (current husband) ( belongs to @w3atherboy )

Damian Bryce Wayne - Gadget - Green Knight

Damian was Tom's little brother and was affected by their parent's death just as much.

However, instead of going for the more peaceful route of his brother, he trained hard to be the best fighter and strategist he could, eventually gaining the mantle of "Gadget". The two siblings were unbeatable, until Damian got tired of his older brother's control and become "Green Knight", moving to Bludhaven to solve things his way.

Eventually, however, he regretted his actions and made peace with his brother, becoming the Gear Family.

Ivy Al Ghul - Agent I

Ivy was the Housekeeper of the Waynes, and the one responsible for raising the boys after their deaths.

She doesn't have as much of a headcache as her counterpart, because Tom is easier to handle... with the exception of his low self-stem and deppresion.

Tom: Brilliant idea, Leo! I just... don't know where I would find someone like him...

Ace (aged down hair cause... Tom needs his own group of superhero sons): Matteo is a Bop. So, you just need to find out another Bop to ask their opinion.

Tom: ...

Ace: What?

Tom: So, Ace... what would you actually be doing if you told your partener you were sick?

Ace: I am not a BOP, Tom!

Boxed Memories

The Hope Hunters had many responsibilities. They kept the Gems of Virtues safe from the wrong hands, protected the treasures from the Aurum family, and thought bravely against the heartless Green Light Lab.

But they were also responsible for more mundane things, such as washing the dishes, doing the laundry, and throwing away unnecessary things. These tasks weren’t as glamorous as their hero work, but they were necessary.

Each one of the Hunters was holding a box except for Zack, who, due to his strength, managed to hold a lot more than his teammates.

“Are you sure you wanna throw this all away, Zack? These baby clothes are adorable!” Amber quipped as she grabbed one of the babies.  rompers from the box she was levitating with her magical leaves.

“Yeah. They were useful when I was a very cute baby. But now that I am a very cool teenager, I don’t need them anymore,” the demigod joked, confident in his decision.

Behind the two, Tom was struggling to hold a box that seemed way bigger than the others.

“Zack, can you please tell me why this box is so heavy? I feel like I am carrying a bunch of stones,” the cobalt rebel inquired.

“Oh, it’s just some old toys… I had a bunch of those when I was little,” the red-haired boy answered.

“Toys?” the scientist repeated, feeling intrigued. Due to being focused on the box and his friends, he didn’t notice something on the ground.

“WHOA!” Tom exclaimed as he dropped the box. However, due to his banshee inheritance, instead of falling on the ground, he started floating.

“Whoa. You okay, bud?” the demigod asked his friend.

“It is, don’t worry. I just… struggle a bit with my floating powers,” the scientist explained as he kept spinning in the air very slowly.

“Can you two help me get down?” the cobalt rebel requested, a bit embarrassed of doing so.

“Okie dokie!” the fairy replied with a smile. Zack just smirked. Each one grabbed one of the arms and helped position him on the ground.

As he managed to stand up, the scientist noticed the mess he ended up causing.

“Sorry for the mess, Zack,” Tom apologized, ashamed of what he had ended up causing.

“No prob, man,” Zack reassured his friend. As Amber looked into the toys on the ground, she ended up noticing something about them.

“Wow! They are all hero toys!” the princess exclaimed, amazed by what she saw. The demigod blushed a bit.

“Yeah, I kind of had my hero phase back then,” the red-haired boy admitted, feeling a bit awarded.

The fairy immediately dropped to her knees so that she could take a closer look at all of them.

“Look at this Wonder Woman doll! Not a single tear.” The princess beamed with stars in her eyes.

Since Amber loved both sewing and making dolls and superheroes, those dolls and toys were like a dream come true for her.

“Can I keep them?!” Amber begged with puppy eyes. Zack blushed at her expression.

“Well… if you want to, then, of course,” the demigod answered, looking away. The fairy rejoiced as she jumped into the pool of dolls.

As the princess had the time of her life, the red-haired boy turned his head to his other friend.

“And you, Tom? Would you like a doll as well?” Zack asked. Tom, however, didn’t seem very excited at the idea of those dolls.

“Thanks for the offer, Zack. But… you know I don’t enjoy this whole ‘hero products’” the Cobalt rebel responded, having a weird expression on his face.

The truth was that even the act of looking at those dolls made him feel uncomfortable. But he didn’t want to discuss that with his friends. It was a part of his life that he wanted to forget about.

As he kept looking into the mess on the floor, however… something ended up calling his attention.

As if he was a moth being drawn to a flame, the scientist moved his body towards something.

“Tom? Is everything okay?” the demigod quizzed, feeling worried. But his friend didn’t listen. It’s almost as if he was under a spell.

As he bent down and grabbed the object of his interest, the demigod finally managed to understand what his friend wanted.

“A Batman Doll?” Zack was puzzled, furrowing his eyebrows in confusion.

Amber, noticing the weird atmosphere, approached her friends. When she looked at the doll in the scientist’s hand, she was just as confused as the demigod. But she eventually concluded.

“OH! Because you both are from Gotham, right?” the fairy guessed. She received no answer.  

“Feeling a bit homesick?” the red-haired boy teased, hoping to lighten the mood.

But Tom didn’t say anything. He had his eyes glued to the object. It was as if all that existed were the Cobalt rebel and the doll.

The other two started feeling shivers down their spines. It wasn’t the first time they saw their leader acting so mysteriously, but they never expected a doll, out of all things, to leave him like this.

“Tom… you… Okay, buddy?” the demigod asked, being careful as to not worsen the situation. But he still received no reaction.

Eventually, though, the scientist moved… but it was to a corner of the living room.

Now, the other two went from scared to terrified. It seemed like a scene from a horror movie.

“Tom?” the fairy fretted.

Out of nowhere, Tom shouted. Amber and Zack covered their ears, protecting themselves from his banshee screams.

He then started smashing the doll against the wall repeatedly.

“TOM!” the other two exclaimed, trying to snap him out. But it didn’t work. The scientist was in a deep trance.

“How does it feel? Huh!” the Cobalt rebel asked the doll with an echoed and spectral voice.

“It’s great hurting and diminishing others, isn’t it? Well… let’s see how you feel when it’s your turn!” Tom yelled, bringing his face closer to the doll.

As Amber and Zack were sure that the situation wouldn’t get worse, the scientist started ripping the doll.

He tore limb by limb, his screams filling the room with dread. It was only after he managed to destroy the doll that he seemed to calm down.

As he gasped for air, clearly exhausted from the intense emotions, he dropped to his knees. The other two waited for a while, to be sure that their friend wouldn’t be aggressive anymore.

“Tom, what the heck was that?!” the demigod questioned, feeling a mixture of worry and confusion for what he had just seen.

Amber, meanwhile, approached the scientist and put her hand on his shoulder, trying to calm him down.

“Don’t worry, Tom. I will just use my powers and make the doll as good as new!” Amber reassured him. But it only angered the Cobalt rebel once again.

“HE DOESN’T DESERVE IT!” Tom shouted, making his friends recoil in the process. Their terrified expressions, however, was what brought Tom back to reason.

It was at that moment that he noticed what he had just done. And he felt a mixture of regret for frightening his friends, shame for losing control of his emotions, and sadness for all the memories that had resurfaced from the sight of that doll.

He started scratching his arm as he looked away from his friends.

“I am sorry, I…” he attempted to speak, but, as he looked into the remains of the stuffed toy in the ground, he started crying.

When his friends were about to approach him in an attempt to comfort the scientist, he disappeared.

“Tom!” the duo exclaimed once again. But it didn’t work, cause as soon as they said that, they heard the door to Tom’s room being locked.

“Oh no,” Amber spoke, noticing what that meant. It wasn’t a common event, but, from time to time, Tom would lock himself in his room and not leave for days.

It usually was when he remembered something from his Green Light days, but… There were also times when hero topics were involved.

The two that were left in the living room were unsure of what would happen next. They didn’t know the right thing to say or do.

“So, um… do you still want the toys?” Zack asked, trying to break the ice. The fairy, however, shook her head.

“I don’t think it would be fair to keep them. Whatever is the reason, they are hurting Tom… better to just give them away,” the princess answered.

“Agreed,” the red-haired boy nodded. The two quickly put the toys back in the box and closed it with tape. Maybe Mr. Spell would have an idea of to whom they could give them.

When they met Tom, they were sure that he didn’t have an easy life. Although he was a very nice boy, he was also insecure, scared, reluctant, and even a bit needy.

They manage to get pieces of his backstory. They now understood what he went through inside the lab, or why he cared so much about his friends.

But they knew nothing about his years in Gotham. And whatever happened to him there, it was a sensitive subject.

In the end, all the could do was wait. Wait until the scientist felt ready to tell his entire past.

The sad part was… this day might never come…

Well, I know no one did, but, I wanted to write one anyway. I had the idea of Tom reacting angrily at Batman merch for a LONG time. My original idea was Tom entering a toy store while walking through Hope Valley just to destroy the doll.

But, I think this alternative was better.

As I said before... Bruce was not exactly a good dad to Tom in the AU. He always made Tom feel insecure about himself. He wasn't physically abusive, but, he was unintentionally cruel... many times.
