Didn’t really catch the sunset here because, I suspect, there was no visible sunset to catch. And it was hella windy, we almost froze to death. Still it was fun to walk around. I think we got high from the winds. Anyway, it looks quite peaceful in the photos doesn’t it? Photos don’t capture winds apparently.

Taipei seems a great place to live. If we get through this epidemic (is it an epidemic?) I’d love to try. I mean I know I say that about all the places I visited, but oh boy would I love to try.

Things that fly - in Penang

Most of them are butterflies, considering one of the main attractions on this island is a butterfly garden. Entopia cost us more than anything else on this trip, but it was worth it.

Every kid was running around trying to be Hanxiang, which was actually easier than imagined. The museum section of the garden explains that butterflies are attracted to human’s sweat among other disgusting things.

Here’s my favorite butterfly from the visit:

It was both pretty and rare. There were a handful of patterns you’d see repeatedly throughout the garden, but this one was the only one of its kind I spotted.

And this was a funny one. We saw two of them falling off a wall of vines onto the ground. You saw above a butterfly resting on the ground, so you would and we did figure that was completely normal, right? But what came next wasn’t. Because they couldn’t lift themselves off the ground, at all. A staff had to come and put them in the shrubs. By the time I took this picture, one of them had already fallen off again. Poor kids.

I also captured things that flew higher in the sky than butterflies. We visited the Clan Jetties in anticipation of a beautiful sunset, but it was all cloudy. Things looked pretty gloomy, but at least I wasn’t bored. Partly because the whole thing that I sat on shook like hell, with the number of people coming and going.

Fly out of the focus zone, baby! Well done.

EV++ for this one. And you can see quite clearly it was an AirAsia airplane. 

A similar airplane but farther away, leaving contrail. And that concluded my photography session on a shaky dock. It wasn’t as planned, like parts of this trip (and other trips as well), but did I have fun? Yes, even though I was scared to death when walking on the wooden planks to get to this view - and even if the view wasn’t much. Yes, I did have fun. Thank you, Penang.
