Where everything is the same except Harvey is Mikeâs fiancĂ©e
âIâm his fiancĂ©e. Seeing him is not going to make me look guilty. Not seeing him will.â Harvey would not be kept away. He had already lot the firm he was not going to lose Mike too.
âNo, whatâs gonna keep you from looking guilty is you and I ripping up your letter of resignation,â Jessica retorted and Harvey wanted to hit her over the head because she was jut not getting it. Mike was Harveyâs world. The way the firm had been before. But now he realized he could live without it but not without Mike.
â
âAre you crazy? Thereâs no getting out of this!â
âI havenât lost a case before, and Iâm not about to start now.â
âThis isnât just some other case!â
âNo itâs not! Itâs a case involving the man I love and I refuse to lose!â
Mike stood there staring at him with wide ideas and Harvey could just see the gears turning around in his head. Â Understanding slowing coloring his features. His anger and fear faded replaced with concern and guilt.
âI know Harvey. Iâm sorry. I forgot this is not just about me.â
Harveyâs eyes dropped and he looked away emotion making the room unbearable.
â
âHowever, I would like to introduce a motion to have Mr. Specter removed as attorney for Mr. Ross.â It took everything Harvey had not to stand up and slug her.
âWhat? On what grounds?â
âOn the grounds that they conspired to defraud the bar association, every client they ever had, and the people of the United States. Also the fact that Mr. Specter is the defendants fiancĂ©e,â she sounded smug and he hated her more with every passing moment.
âThere are no laws stating that a lawyer canât represent their fiancĂ©e or family members for that matter. You have no grounds.â
âMy chambers. Now,â the judge ordered.
â
âWhat I know is, the last time you came to me, I told you I never wanted to hear Mike Rossâs name again, and once again, here you are, asking me to do something for the person that destroyed our relationship.â
Harvey could barely look at her. Here he was standing in front of his former girlfriend about to beg if he had to to keep her mouth shut about his fiancée. Especially since she was right. Mike was the reason for their breakup. Harvey was in love with him even back then.
â
âJust let me tell you something. They donât have conjugal visits in federal prison. And even if they did, I know your fiancĂ©eâs type. Heâs smart. Heâs handsome. Heâs cunning. Heâll let you take the fall and he wonât stick around no matter what he says.â
Mike tried not to let it show how much the Marshalâs words affected him. He knew that wasnât Harvey. He knew that he was only saying that stuff to get in mikeâs head to get him to confess. That he didnât know Harvey and if he did he would never believe that for a second but still, it hurtâŠ
â
âI might go to jail.â Mike had to make him see to understand. There where no guarantees. They might lose, they would probably lose.
Harveyâs eyes softened. âIf you do Iâll be here.â He took a step forward reducing the space between them. âIâm never going to leave you.â
Mike knew in that moment exactly how true those words where..

Desperate times and all that.
The moment he agreed to do the delivery for Trevor, Mike had, quoth Star Wars, âa bad feeling about this.â But he couldnât say no, and Trevor, the utter bastard that he was, knew that. Any other lifelong friend mightâve just given their best friend the money to help their only living relative. Trevor leveraged an illegal drug deal out of it.
But agreed Mike had, so he walked into the Chilton Hotel with a briefcase of pot and a thundering heartbeat.
*
Mike didnât know if anyone else wouldâve figured out that the cops were cops. Too often he had cursed his genius memory, a so-called gift that had brought as many trials and triumphs. But as he ran down the stairwell, formulating a plan of escape, heâd never been more grateful.
He practically crashed into the hotel room, breathless and sweaty and spilling truths that were probably better left unsaid. But for some unknown reason, fate or destiny or pure dumb luck, the redhead smiled and winked to someone out of Mikeâs sight and offered him a drink like everything was completely normal.
Mike had but the briefest of glimpse of an expensive suit and a mole-dotted face before he was following a stranger into another room and further from the copâs reach.
*
Mike gave the false name and shook the manâs - Harveyâs - hand and followed him deeper into the hotel room. Harvey turned and started talking but Mike heard nothing, too distracted by the way Harveyâs lips moved, the depth of his eyes, the robust body that Mike just wanted to climb like a fucking tree.
âRick? Are you listening to me?â
Mike shook his head, forcing himself out of the daze. âSorry, itâs justâŠâ
Harvey raised an attractive eyebrow, and man Mike was totally screwed if he was finding an eyebrow attractive.
âYouâre really handsome.â
âAre you ⊠are you hitting on me right now?â Harvey asked, somewhere between incredulous and amused.
Mike smiled, tried to make it as seductive as he could. âMaybe. Iâm never gonna get the job youâre interviewing me for, and youâre seriously the hottest person Iâve ever seen in real life, so I figured why not.â
Harveyâs lips were quirked, until he seemed to catch up with what Mike was saying. âWait, why do you think youâre not gonna get the job?â
Mike chuckled, moving over to the couch and placing the briefcase on the coffee table. âYeah, about thatâŠâ

I feel like many people have a fundamental misconception of what unreliable narrator means. It's simply a narrative vehicle not a character flaw, a sign that the character is a bad person. There are also many different types of unreliable narrators in fiction. Being an unreliable narrator doesn't necessarily mean that the character is 'wrong', it definitely doesn't mean that they're wrong about everything even if some aspects in their story are inaccurate, and only some unreliable narrators actively and consciously lie. Stories that have unreliable narrators also tend to deal with perception and memory and they often don't even have one objective truth, just different versions. It reflects real life where we know human memory is highly unreliable and vague and people can interpret same events very differently
