Always remember its about the human spirit. The unexplainable drive that pushes and pulls at our lives. Its start with the people, because it was always about the people. Remember why you wanted to start a business, not for profit, although needed, but to create a organizations that puts its people first, lifting them up and giving them opportunity, a place to bridge our difference and combine our best skills to bring out our best selves, both individually and collectively.

How you do ANYTHING is how you do EVERYTHING
“Why?” you ask? Why pick up the trash off the ground when you already paid good money to have someone else do? Because. How you do ANYTHING is how you do EVERYTHING. You underestimate yourself, you’ve settled, allowing society to deem what was is “okay”, instead of taking ownership of your own life and pronouncing through actions that you choose to live your best life. You belittle how powerful of an effectl the choices you make can have on this life you were given. You refuse to see that how your one action has an unexplainable ramifications, rippling across the universe and granting it the opportunity to reign at its best. Believe in yourself and see that, how you ANYTHING is how you do EVERYTHING!
Peace Love Unity Respect
Also for all you opputinists and capitalists, here’s a dollar off if you bring 3 empty bottles to recycle. You’re welcome ;D

🍣Fresh food equals good food🍣 17$ dollars for a sashimi “Kaisen” bowl ain’t cheap, but you get what you pay for. Being that it’s sold directly from the fish wholesaler’s warehouse, you can taste the quality and freshness. I imagine this is the same quality fish you can find only at the top sushi restaurants. Try it for yourself and be the judge! #humansofhunger #sashimi #foodie #food #foodporn #hungry #quality #qualityoverquantity #rice #bowl (at Art&fish)

“We need to practice taking pictures of our food!”, I exclaimed as Melissa sat there playing the next new viral Iphone game. I was on a mission to become the next famous foodie, and she was always there to support. Even though her head was double chinned down and her eyes stuck to the screen, I knew she was listening like she always does. So I ranted on, critiquing this new onigiri spot as if I were some expert, when it came to me, “let’s make it competition! Who can take the best picture” So the battle ensued and we starting talking smack, “why are you taking so long! Hurry up noob!” I was so sure I was going to win. I was out to crush her and show her my alpha male superiority. Little did I know she was the real winner. Not only in this photo competition, but more so in my life. You see, Melissa is my inspiration. She is my frenemy, or shall I say lovenemy. She is what drives me and sometimes drives me insane, but that is precisely why I love her for it. She is the reason I’m here writing in the first place. “You have no idea the impact you have on my life.” I told Melissa over the phone as she responded in a sort of confused voice, “I do???” I liked keeping her guessing. Wondering what romantic explanation I was going to come up with this time to prove it was so. I had just called Melissa in excitement, to tell her about all great content ideas I had thought of for our food blog all thanks to her randomly sending me today’s practice photo. Of course only hers, but in her mind she had obviously won. Little did I know and little did she know, that by sending me, what I thought to be a meaningless photo that wasn’t worthy of being posted, would actually inspire me to write and think of all this. I mean c’mon, there wasn’t even a picture of food in the photo. But funny how the life works, it just so turns out, yes humansofhunger is a food blog, but at the core, the real purpose is to capture the human heart. Because what better excites us and brings joy than a good meal amongst good hoomans. Afterthoughts: I wish we captured the interior design in the background of the photo. OMSB is the name of the new onigiri spot we tried in arts district/lil tokyo. I’m on this new onigiri obsession. So many possibilities and combinations that can go with rice!!!! They did a beautiful job with design and presentation, but the actual experience of eating those artfully places triangle rice balls was mediocre. It wasn’t bad in opinion, but it didn’t capture my heart. Onigiri should be able to tap into your comfort zone and hit that spot when you take your first bite and brings back memories of mom’s love/cooking. I always get embarrassed about taking photos of food and judge others that do it, but I realize that’s my own insecurity talking, because over at another table a pair of girls were doing the same thing, but being even more absurd. Standing up and raising their phones high up in the air to get the whole shot, like a scene out of lion king. so no shame and no judgement. You do you Kiki. Of course Melissa’s remark was, “psh, I don’t even need to stand” jokingly implying she was better. Hahaha what a punk, but my punk. Hehe

YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT
Truly! You are what you you eat, without a doubt, even in the sense of HOW it is we eat. Here’s what I mean by that. Try me *Pun intended*
It first starts with the idea of food, one of the most undeniable necessities of life. Nothing can compare to the joy of food, that first bite of nirvana, just pure utter joy, bursting with flavor and delight. That is why food connects us. It’s such a raw act of living that we can all agree upon. To live is to eat they say. That is why most successful dates involve food I think, ranging from coffee to feasts, to maybe even black out drunk for some(this shouldn’t count as successful actually🤔). We all know a happy GF is a not hungry one. That’s why us guys know food is the one of the most crucial keys required to a woman’s intricate heart. But in all seriousness, food is truly a bridge that connects us. Fellowship is often found in the form of “breaking bread” or the sacred “family meal.”  Food is a powerful thing.
But on the other hand to live means so much for than just eating, we are hungry for more than just a fries and coke(although that sounds lovely to me). We are hungry for love, which often times is misconceived, believing money or fame will bring us love. We are hungry for recognition and purpose. To feel like we matter in the world and that we make a difference. While others are literally starving, sadly just hungry for food.
So that’s why the phrase “you are what you eat” means so much more. Because it’s not only what you eat, but how. Because it’s not only about the actual food, but how that food got there and all the various effects it has on the world and lives upon it. How you eat is a reflection of how you live. So I ask you, what kind of life do you want to live?
Start by asking yourself what is it that you eat and how. If you live by eating the healthy choices, or buying from right sources of food, those that are sustainable and kind to the earth. I think that reflects on the kind of person you wish to be and the kind of world you wish to live in.
Don’t get me wrong though, I’m not trying to say be a vegan(although that’s ideal) because one can be a vegan but still fuck up the earth or be an asshole. But I do challenge us to take those small steps in the right direction, to take responsibility for the food we eat,  challenge ourselves to a better way of living, starting with the food we eat. Where we get it from, the effects it’s has on the earth, the effects it has on our bodies the effects it has on others. This blog is to explore all the layers of food and how it is such an important part of our lives. From the science behind it, to the pure emotions of it. To the stories of humble hungry heroes that are doing right, to tips and tools on how to do it right. To all the simple ways we can do our parts while enjoying some good food along the way. Join me on this journey and pursuit of a better way of eating, or better yet, living.

Not a single wolf, but a pack of wolves can change an entire landscape. This applies both to our own internal pack and the pack of friends you run with in our day to day lives. I always struggled internally, trying to be the white wolf, only to to succumb to the hunger of the black one. I’ve now learned to embrace both finding a balance, to run with the pack not against it.
From https://deanyeong.com/fight-two-wolves-inside/
“You see, if I only choose to feed the white wolf, the black one will be hiding around every corner waiting for me to become distracted or weak and jump to get the attention he craves. He will always be angry and will always fight the white wolf. But if I acknowledge him, he is happy and the white wolf is happy and we all win. For the black wolf has many qualities – tenacity, courage, fearlessness, strong-willed and great strategic thinking–that I have need of at times. These are the very things the white wolf lacks. But the white wolf has compassion, caring, strength and the ability to recognize what is in the best interest of all.
“You see, son, the white wolf needs the black wolf at his side. To feed only one would starve the other and they will become uncontrollable. To feed and care for both means they will serve you well and do nothing that is not a part of something greater, something good, something of life. Feed them both and there will be no more internal struggle for your attention. And when there is no battle inside, you can listen to the voices of deeper knowing that will guide you in choosing what is right in every circumstance. Peace, my son, is the Cherokee mission in life. A man or a woman who has peace inside has everything. A man or a woman who is pulled apart by the war inside him or her has nothing.
“How you choose to interact with the opposing forces within you will determine your life. Starve one or the other or guide them both.”

Hunger > Fear
My belly swells, so full from all the processed fears and doubts that I’ve gorged on up till now. Yet my soul starves for something of worth. Something to be proud of, to nourish and replenish more than my body.
I’m so hungry, that it outweighs any doubts or fears that remains. I can no longer stand by wondering of what sweet wonders life has to offer. I’m prepared to sow in order to reap. I’m ready to sweat and toil away at the fields. Tirelessly embracing those early mornings and the late evenings

Meal for a Moment
What to do with all the left over food from, being extra and doing it for gram???
I found a solution. A barter i propose, just like the good ole’ days.
A meal for a moment
Rules:
1. food is clean
2. that food is going to someone that would appreciate more than i would
3. in return they must share a real moment of theres, good or bad, but more specifically a meal they had that captures who are they.
Example:
They were eating with family and it was such a good meal, but there was a argument and it ruined the meal
Once i was starving a random person gave me his leftovers and it was the best meal i had ever had

Humans of Hunger
To tell a tale, a story of food, but more importantly the people behind the food. from the porter to a high rated executive chef, we want the explore the human psyche in reference to food, and highlight the business that are doing it right, and those that are taking advantage of the system. We want to make the process of food, the result of hunger, as human as possible.
