The way that media simplifies the complex human experience is a real problem. You never see positive fitness role models who are genuinely thick or "chubby." They say that its not possible to represent personal health and fitness unless you're ripped or your fat is excused because you're bulking. But lack of body fat on your frame is disproportinately considered the marker of physical development. I understand why - its pretty much the easiest to see in pictures. Unfortunately that means whatever other benefits you have achieved are pretty much meaningless in the realm of the internet. I do believe it would be healthier for me to have a bit less fat on my body. However I am now healthier than I was at my smallest. My body is more capable, strong, and it heals faster. Today at the track (92 degrees and in the middle of the day) there was only a couple of stragglers. This was my first day at a real track, before this I've only run about 6 other times on the beach and in the grass. I met @torpedott, aka Richard 'Torpedo' Thompson who took the Silver Metal for 100m dash in the 2008 Olympics! (+ he's won 2 other Silvers)... what an honor!!! I always watch the 100m & 400m Olympic runners in awe of their athleticism. He asked to take a photo of ME, and told me MY hard work inspired him!
