The Anti-Israel Playbook Is Literally Soviet Propaganda (And some Q&A so you'll be prepared for it)
I need to talk about something that's been keeping me up at night. That "anti-Zionist" rhetoric flooding your feeds? The stuff about Israel being a "settler-colonial apartheid state"? The comparisons to Nazi Germany?
It's literally copy-pasted from 1960s Soviet propaganda. Word. For. Word.
In 1967, the Soviets hosted a massive anti-Israel conference in New Delhi with 150 delegates from 55 countries. They rolled out every single talking point we're hearing today: Israel as "imperialist," comparisons to Nazi "blitzkrieg," calling Palestinian terrorism "righteous resistance." Sound familiar?
Here's the kicker - the Communist Party USA published these speeches in full. The same language spread through Soviet-funded publications across Africa, Latin America, and Europe. By the 1970s, this wasn't fringe thinking anymore - it was mainstream leftist orthodoxy.
The people pushing this stuff today? Many literally grew up in Soviet-sponsored "anti-imperialist" circles. Angela Davis met Arafat at a 1973 Soviet youth festival. Stokely Carmichael developed his anti-Zionist views through Castro's Cuba. Even some of today's politicians have direct family ties to this network.
The USSR is gone, but the zombie ideas live on. Every time someone calls Israel "genocidal" or compares it to apartheid South Africa, they're recycling propaganda designed by the KGB to destroy American influence in the Middle East.
The most disturbing part? Liberal America never bothered to debunk this stuff after winning the Cold War. We defeated the Soviet Union but let their antisemitic propaganda colonize our universities and activist spaces.
It's time to wake up. These aren't grassroots progressive values - they're the manufactured talking points of a totalitarian regime that murdered millions.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: How do I recognize Holocaust inversion? A: Watch for language that portrays Jews/Israelis as the "new Nazis" - calling Israeli actions "genocide," "blitzkrieg," or comparing Gaza to concentration camps. This flips victim and perpetrator, making the historically persecuted group into the oppressor.
Q: How do I respond effectively to antisemitism disguised as anti-Israel statements? A: Ask where their information comes from. Point out that their talking points match Soviet propaganda from the 1960s-70s. Highlight the historical context - why these specific comparisons (apartheid, Nazism) were chosen by Moscow to delegitimize Israel. Don't let them hide behind "just criticizing policy" when they're using dehumanizing language with a documented history of antisemitic origins.
Q: What are the red flags that someone is using Soviet-derived anti-Zionist talking points? A: The buzzword trifecta: "settler-colonial," "apartheid," and "imperialist puppet." Also watch for conspiracy theories about "Zionist influence" in media/politics, claims that Zionism is "racism," and the phrase "by any means necessary" to justify terrorism. These weren't random - they were focus-grouped by Soviet propagandists.
Q: Why do progressive spaces fall for this so easily? A: Because the Soviets were brilliant at packaging antisemitism as anti-racism. They took real progressive concerns (civil rights, anti-colonialism) and weaponized them against Jews. It sounds like social justice language, which is exactly the point. That's why smart, well-meaning people get sucked in.
Q: How do I explain this to someone who thinks I'm just "crying antisemitism"? A: Show them the receipts. The 1967 New Delhi conference documents are public. Soviet publications from the 1970s are archived. Point out that these exact phrases appeared in KGB materials decades before social media existed. Ask them why their "grassroots movement" uses identical language to Cold War propaganda.
Q: What about people who say "anti-Zionism isn't antisemitism"? A: Ask them why embracing anti-Zionism made your friend remove his Star of David necklace. If it's really just political criticism, why does it create shame about Jewish identity? The Soviets specifically designed anti-Zionism to be a "respectable" way to attack Jews - that was the whole point.
Q: How do I protect Jewish friends/family from this propaganda? A: Help them understand they're not crazy for feeling targeted. Validate that what they're experiencing IS a form of antisemitism, even if it doesn't look like historical antisemitism. Share this information so they can see the bigger picture. Sometimes knowing you're dealing with manufactured propaganda, not genuine moral outrage, makes it easier to cope with.

He Sailed to Help Gaza. They Killed Him Anyway.
Vittorio Arrigoni was an Italian peace activist who defied the Israeli blockade by sailing into Gaza in 2008, becoming a symbol of solidarity with the Palestinian people. He stayed in Gaza to document life under siege, always signing off with his plea: "Stay human."
But in a bitter twist of fate, it wasn’t bombs or soldiers that killed him — it was the very people he thought he was helping. In April 2011, Arrigoni was kidnapped by a radical Islamist group in Gaza, accused of "corrupting youth," and brutally murdered, his body dumped in an abandoned house.
A man who came in peace, strangled by extremists, in the place he risked everything to defend.

a non-exhaustive list of stuff the left has done since october 7th:
praised actual genocidal terrorist groups
claimed that the rapes on oct 7 were just propaganda and didn’t happen
outright saying that oct 7 was justified
didn’t say a single word about the hostages except to belittle their suffering and that of their families
allowed literal nazis into their protests
stood by as those nazis threw up their salutes and chanted nazi shit
refused to collectively condemn a single antisemitic incident done in the name of pro palestinian activism
made any israeli out to be evil incarnate to the point where israelis can’t even exist outside their country without being attacked, harassed, black listed, etc.
excused away a literal pogrom that happened in the streets of a modern european city as if it were nothing more than a demonstration against the war
gaslit jews constantly about the rampant antisemitism that has been ongoing for over 600 days
said that the guy who executed two israelis at a peace event at a jewish museum was committing a legitimate form of protest against israel
praised the guy who threw molotovs at a group of jews doing a peace march
i’m convinced at this point that the left has never actually cared about social justice since they have more in common with nazis than with people who actually give a damn about justice or standing up for marginalized groups
if it walks like a nazi and talks like a nazi it’s just a fucking nazi

They don’t need to pull the trigger themselves— they just need to keep telling millions of people that Israelis aren’t human. That killing us is “resistance.” That anyone who defends us deserves to be destroyed.
This is how it starts.
Online.
With jokes, streams, panels, and hashtags.
Then it ends in gunfire.
You can’t claim to care about justice and stay silent about this.
May Yaron (Christian Israeli) and Sarah’s (American Jewish) memory be a blessing 💔
The man who allegedly walked up to two Israeli embassy staffers and shot them dead Wednesday night reportedly told eyewitnesses he “did it for Gaza.”
But the event those staffers had just left at the Capital Jewish Museum highlighted an organization that supplied aid to Gaza during the Israel-Hamas War. And his victims had made peacebuilding central to their work.

Two Israeli embassy staff shot dead, leaving an event focused on how to help Gazans. Suspect shouted "Free Palestine"
Jojo Kalin is the board member of the American Jewish Committee who organised the event tonight:
“I didn't know the couple who were shot but I do feel a sense of guilt, and it's a very uniquely Jewish thing to feel guilty for the fact that they were there because of an event I organised and then feeling guilty about my guilt when I shouldn't be centering myself when people's lives were just lost.”
The event was largely focused on how to build a coalition to help Gazans.
“I'm not going to lose my humanity over this or be deterred. And that Israelis and Palestinians both still deserve self determination and [it is] just deeply ironic that that's what we were discussing.
"It was bridge building and then we were all hit over the hide with such hatred.“

Let’s be clear: Masking Jew-hatred as ‘anti-Zionism’ doesn’t make it any less vile. Dr. King saw through the lies back in 1967 — and we still need to call it out today.

They almost killed him!
(posted by Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib, Proud American; Gaza native; pro-Palestine, pro-Peace, anti-Hamas & occupation)
I don’t think most people truly grasp the horrendously evil level of malignant terror of Hamas’s behavior throughout the Gaza Strip. Two days ago, when the strike on the European Hospital in southern Gaza took place, in pursuit of Mohammad Sinwar and half of Hamas’s remaining military leadership, a young boy that I was helping leave the Gaza Strip was at that same hospital when it was struck. I lost contact with him for several hours and thought the worst. Here is a kid whom I was trying to help save his life by getting him out of Gaza, at his request and that of his family, but he almost lost his life in the process of doing just that.
Was it the Israelis who were at fault, I asked myself? Or was it the despicable terror, ISIS-like organization that literally set up shop underneath one of the few hospitals in the Strip that had not yet been hit? I thought to myself that while I, of course, don’t want Israel to attack any hospital anywhere in Gaza, the reality is that the current Israeli government and the military apparatus are constantly pursuing remnants of Hamas anywhere they exist.
Upon finally reestablishing contact with the young kid, I almost collapsed due to a mixture of relief, joy, fear, uncertainty, and an unbelievable level of anger and fury, not to mention a sense of responsibility for the well-being of this person who entrusted me with his life. This man is not just leaving Gaza for the sake of departure, but he has a promising and prosperous life ahead, which represents hope and optimism amidst so much sorrow and heartache.
He told me how he and everyone around him were furious with Hamas when they heard about why the airstrike had taken place. He described the horror he experienced, as well as that of the hundreds around him. He discussed the terror he experienced up close with his cellphone becoming largely damaged due to the airstrike and ensuing pandemonium, making it difficult for him and me to maintain our regular contact and check-ins throughout his exodus journey.
Determined to complete the mission, I urged the young man to stay focused and resist being distracted by the abundance of negative stimuli around him. I reminded him of the importance of his actions and the many Gazans who wish they had the opportunity to leave the seemingly hopeless coastal enclave. Thankfully, after hours of relentless communication with friends and allies and troubleshooting, the kid safely made it outside of Gaza and has begun phase one of plotting a new path forward.
Hamas has maliciously and deliberately built terror tunnels and infrastructure throughout Gaza’s most sacred sites on purpose; under schools, under hospitals, under kindergartens, under civilian homes, and under UN and international facilities; all in an effort to get Israel to target said facilities and cause maximum casualties, a win-win situation for the terror group.
God as my witness, I say this not from the point of view of Israeli propaganda or “Hasbara” as many so frequently scream back at me; I say this strictly and exclusively from a hardcore pro-Palestine, Palestinian self-interested point of view.
If you care about Palestinian civilian lives, then you should understand that international humanitarian law (IHL) actually removes protection from medical and civilian facilities when they are used or abused for military or military-adjacent purposes, which is precisely what Hamas does. Hamas is an existential and deadly menace to Palestinian lives and safety. It is providing the most far-right and extreme government in Israel’s history with an array of excuses to target militants, in so doing, killing thousands of innocent and uninvolved civilians.
Hamas must be rejected, condemned, and ultimately, entirely eliminated if Gaza and the Palestinian people are ever to have a future with a new, pragmatic, moderate leadership. Remember this story, and thousands like it, if you’re still on the fence about this nefarious, Islamist terror organization. Hamas is not resistance; Hamas is the annihilation of the Palestinian people in Gaza and beyond.

A More Nuanced Look at Life in Gaza
There’s no doubt that life in Gaza has been incredibly difficult-- the conflict has brought suffering, displacement, and loss. Yet some narratives circulating on social media falsely present the situation in overly absolute terms, especially when it comes to claims of mass starvation.
I came across images from a local coffee shop in Gaza named thailandi_gaza that’s not only open, but also serving pizzas, desserts and drinks; the kind of menu you’d expect in a peaceful city, not a war zone. This isn’t to say everything is normal (far from it) but it raises an important point: Are some reports overlooking regional variations or cherry-picking extreme cases?
Humanitarian crises are never monolithic. In every conflict zone, there are pockets of relative stability alongside extreme hardship. Highlighting this doesn't minimize suffering rather it presents a fuller picture.

Gaza Restaurant Recommendations
Famine? How about dessert! Check out my recommendations for where to get some tasty snacks and desserts in "starving" Gaza below.
Today our recommendation is ~Ice Cream Hamada~, a place offering a wide range of desserts, with comforting sitting and lighting.
Hey, remember when a year ago, over a million were reported to be in famine levels 4 and 5 in Gaza. According to these estimates, hundreds of thousands of people were expected to die from starvation. These are predictions that have been refuted repeatedly in the past year and a half. After a year and a half with over 97% of the population alive, mass death from starvation seems like a fever dream, created to polarize people and prevent rational discussion.
Thanks for tuning it and please look forward to our next recommendation
