MUSIC BABYYY.!!!! I came to the realization that my post on My Musical Theme has more than one meaning to it, I realize that music and this post in specific brings a lot more to my life than I realized. I can honestly say that music was really my first "true love" because in this post I have some of my favorite songs at the time that I wrote it and still to this day are my favorite. Listening to music is a hobby I can really do anywhere I want to. For example at home, or at the gym, or even when I'm playing basketball by myself or with my friends, since me and my friends share the same music taste, or even when I'm in the car on the way somewhere. This is where we connect my post of "My Musical Theme" to my post on "Architectural Interiors," because just like I talk about me being able to listen to music in my favorite places like home, the gym, when playing basketball, or when I'm on my way somewhere, I feel like talking about this post and how the two posts connect is important too because these places are my safe places, fro example my house is probably the safest place out them all because my family are the ones that understand me and support me through everything that I do and if I ever need their help their are there to help me or to give me advice on what I need. Other places like the gym, this is the place that I honestly need the most music because if it wasn't for music I wouldn't be able to get through my workout because it would just be a torture and I would honestly just walk out and go home and not workout. Other place that connects both of the posts is me playing basketball with my friends at the basketball gym or just at the park, I am glad I was able to find some friends that we all share the same taste of music and no matter which song anyone plays we all know the lyrics to it, and it actually help us out to get into a rhythm and can safely say that it makes us play better. I've been hanging around this dudes since middle school and obviously there have been some dudes that have parted ways from the friend group but that we still talk to them because music connects us. And last but not least, car rides, these no matter if its with my mom or my sister or my girlfriend, I blast the speakers to the maximum because there is nothing better than having a car ride full of music until you get to your destination, and there is times where I have to play what my mom likes because making my mom happy is always my number one priority. Another post I would like to connect to the other two mentioned is the one on "Poetic License" because since I've talked about basketball in the past two posts it would only be right to talk about basketball now and this post talks only about basketball and the history behind making jump shots which is what you have to do in order to put the ball through the basket and make some points. This post is on a article that talks about one of the rules of basketball which is "traveling," which it happens when the player that has the ball gives more than two steps without bouncing the ball. This rule is one of the most common rules to come in someone's mind when they think about basketball and the rules of basketball. Just like is one of the most popular violations to happen while playing 1v1 or 2v2 or 5v5. The poem talks about how a 1v1 is taking place and the people are playing peacefully enjoying the game and then all of the sudden a player yells "TRAVEELL" and then the other player starts smiling knowing that he had traveled. When this violation happens it can either get people mad because they believe it wasn't really a travel or it can happen like in the poem that they called it and they didn't care about it and they just kept on playing. The narrator of the poem, who is the author, makes a good point on explaining step by step on what is happening in the game and how it transitions on to the violation being called. Connecting these three posts is what Ive decided to do for our final post. I know I am no professional writer but I think this is a great final post.

Ekphrasis
This is the piece of artwork that speaks to me from all the textbook. In the image we can see a lion in the far end. What I want to say is a woman laying down with what looks to be her ukulele, they appeared to be in the desert at night because in the top right corner we can see the moon is out. In my opinion what is happening here is that the lion is looking for something to eat and the lion hasn't found the woman because she is hiding behind the piles of sand. Even though all lions have night vision it is hard for the lion to see the woman because they are in the desert. In the art work it looks like the woman was trying to hide just so she hasn't been eaten by the lion, because the lion looks like he is looking for food. Another assumption I made was that the woman was trying to play music with the ukulele just so the lion could calm down and not attack her.
I decided to go with this piece of art because it caught my attention all the artwork had going on. From the lion all the way to being at night in the desert. It made me think back in the day and still how animals actually look for their food in open fields like the desert and people that are stranded have to make their way out or escape in order to survive and not be eaten by these wild animals.

Not Seen On TV
Peter Campus, Three Transitions -
This is the option I've chosen, after reading it a couple of times it I'm going to explain why is that I chose this one; Peter Campus’s Three Transitions stood out to me because it is unique from any video or animation I have seen before and created a lot of suspense. I have never been intrigued by human transition videos before, so I wanted to understand the full meaning behind Campus and his intentions. The video consists of three different transitions that express Peter Campus’s personality and past educational experiences. The first transition shows Campus in the footage projected on paper with a yellow background when a hand randomly strikes through his back after it was cut with a knife. The second transition shows Campus rubbing his face with a type of liquid that acts as a mirror and projects many clones of his face. His facial expression while applying the liquid to create a reflection looks as if he is satisfied and intrigued. The last transition is a reflection of himself that he lights on fire and slowly whisks away. Everyday people feel lost and do not respect themselves. I feel like these transitions are directed at the people who are going through a hard time so they can relate. The imagery has a lot of movement which leaves the viewer fascinated to where they never want to stop looking at the transitions. When comparing Peter Campus’s Three Transitions to actual television I think that it challenges it because it shows originality and personality behind actions. Most acting on television is scripted and the actors do not have the opportunity to give their input. Campus creates mysterious transitions that show his unique qualities and individuality in film making.

Tragedy Scripted and Staged
As I read thru Hamlet I couldn't really get to chose just one scene in particular that caught my eye, so in this case even tho the assignment was to write about one particular scene that we liked I will be writing about the few of which I couldn't decided in between. The first one was Act 1, Scene 2. This scene caught my eye because King Claudius addresses the court and talks about the sad death of his brother, Old Hamlet. He then toasts his marriage to his brother’s wife, Gertrude, saying 'With mirth in funeral and with dirge in marriage. In equal scale weighing delight and dole' he has 'Taken to wife' his 'sometime sister'. He then continues to address political problems by talking about Prince Fortinbras of Norway. Claudius gives Laertes permission to return to his studies in France having celebrated the coronation of the new king and queen. Gertrude and Claudius then speak to Hamlet and urge him to stop grieving over his father. Claudius says 'to persever. In obstinate condolement is a course. Of impious stubbornness: ‘tis unmanly grief'. Hamlet is appalled by his mother’s marriage to his uncle and privately says 'O, most wicked speed, to post. With such dexterity to incestuous sheets'. His good friend Horatio interrupts him to report that he’s seen the ghost of his father.
Then the second scene that my eyes caught was Act 4, Scene 4. The reason why I chose this scene was because of the way that it starts and it starts by Ophelia visits the queen, who does not want to see her but eventually she agrees. Ophelia sings songs and when Claudius comes in he and Gertrude agree that Ophelia is sick and he says that ‘this is the poison of deep grief: it springs. All from her father’s death’. Messengers then report that Laertes has returned and that the Danish people want him to be their king. When Laertes enters he is in a rage, demanding to know what happened to his father. He then sees the state of his sister Ophelia, exclaiming ‘O heavens, is’t possible a young maid’s wits. Should be as mortal as an old man’s life?’ Hearing news that Hamlet is responsible for both tragedies, he declares that Hamlet will have an ‘obscure burial. No trophy, sword, nor hatchment o’er his bones’.
The last scene that I decided to talk about was Act 1, Scene 1. Two gravediggers are discussing whether Ophelia should have a Christian burial when she is believed to have killed herself. As the two characters dig the grave, they throw out the bones of other dead people and sing songs. Hamlet passes this grave with Horatio and is shocked to see the bones of dead people being treated so badly. One of the gravediggers shows Hamlet the skull of a court jester. Hamlet is taken aback saying ‘Alas poor Yorick! I knew him, Horatio: a fellow of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy'. Hamlet then contemplates how we all turn to dust in the end. The scene is interrupted by the royal family and Laertes entering the graveyard to bury Ophelia. An argument takes place between Laertes and Hamlet when Hamlet leaps into the grave and says 'I loved Ophelia: forty thousand brothers. Could not with all their quantity of love. Make up my sum’ and they fight. Hamlet leaves and Horatio goes after him.

Anatomy of a Scene
List A Movie : Casablanca -
The screenplay was adapted from a play of no great consequence; memoirs tell of scraps of dialogue jotted down and rushed over to the set. What must have helped is that the characters were firmly established in the minds of the writers, and they were characters so close to the screen personas of the actors that it was hard to write dialogue in the wrong tone. The opening scenes dance with comedy; the dialogue combines the cynical with the weary; wisecracks with epigrams. We see that Rick moves easily in a corrupt world. “What is your nationality?” the German Strasser asks him, and he replies, “I’m a drunkard.” His personal code: “I stick my neck out for nobody.” The dialogue is so spare and cynical it has not grown old-fashioned. Much of the emotional effect of “Casablanca” is achieved by indirection; as we leave the theater, we are absolutely convinced that the only thing keeping the world from going crazy is that the problems of three little people do after all amount to more than a hill of beans.
List B Movie : Lost in Translation -
Two lonely souls find solace in each other on the streets of Tokyo. The core protagonist of Lost in Translation, is Bob, a struggling actor from the United States who’s past his prime. He has come to Tokyo because he has been recruited to advertise a local brand of whiskey, and is staying at the Park Hyatt in Tokyo. As we clearly come to see in the minutes to come, he is deeply and utterly miserable, and he doesn’t really care for learning about the country he is residing in for the next few weeks. He’s also struggling at home with a midlife crisis and his marriage, but, as it turns out, he’s not the only one struggling with the circumstances of his life. What puts me in conflict is how it might perpetuate stereotypes about Japan because it’s touristy and eye-roll at some points. I once read this brilliant essay a while back by Moeko Fuji, and that shaped a bit of my perspective here.
This is what I was able to capture from both of the movies I decided to watch.

The Godfather and La Jetee
After watching the film "The Godfather" and how it was edited it gave me an understanding on why is consider the greatest film ever. The performances by the actors Marlon Brando and Al Pacino who shared similarities like personal struggles. Then the music integrated into the film by Nina Rota it just gives the film a better tone and it also makes it a lot more interesting for the audience. Overall is a really good movie or film however you prefer on calling it.
Now talking about the film "La Jetee" this was a film that was filmed back in the day where there was still no color. The main language in this movie is French. Even tho the movie was in black and white the editors did a really good job editing it with the resources they had. The way this movie or film affected me was because it gave me a perspective that sometimes you can't change the past or memories.

Photographer's Eye

The reason on why I chose this picture is because of the importance behind it. This picture was at my graduation night and is with the people that I care the most. No other than my family, mom, dad, and sister. These 3 people are the ones who have supported me through everything and the ones that always keep me up to keep pushing even when I don't feel like it. This day was the day that everything payed off and all of those nights that I stayed up late studying or doing school work were reflected and I honestly couldn't wanted it to spend it with no other people than my family.

This picture was taken on my family's trip to Europe, specifically in a wax museum in Spain. This experience was probably one of the funniest and most unforgettable memories I've ever experienced in my life. I remember that day like it was yesterday because that day was just going bad and bad because it was a rainy day and all the activities we had planned for that day were outside activities so we had to cancel all of those activities and look for new ones and my sister was the one who found that wax museum and honestly I can safely say that none of us regret it and we would do it again without doubt.

This picture is probably the one who has the most meaning behind it. You might be asking yourself why. It is because this is a picture of me and my sister when we were little. My sister has always been my biggest supporter and the one who if I ever need something is there for me. Most people when they are asked they say that they are mom's boy or dad's boy but in my opinion I can say that I'm a big sister boy. The relationship that I have with my sister is a relationship most siblings would love to have, and I'm not saying it to sound cocky or none of that is just that me and her have basically grown up together and being only 1 year apart we have basically done everything together.

Now is my sisters turn, this picture was taken at my sisters graduation night. This night was the night that all of my family had waited for because she was going to be the first person of the family to graduate in the U.S. This night was anticipated by everyone. That night was an unforgettable night too because when it was time to pick her Diploma up the people at the desk couldn't find it and we just literally thought that they didn't had it at all but at the end they did have it. Then later that night to celebrate we ended up at Head Pinz to celebrate and then at 1 Am at Mc'Donalds because when we finished bowling everything was closed.

This picture was taken on a date at the beach I went to with my girlfriend and the funny thing behind this picture was that day it was literally pouring and it looked like the sky was going to fall down. but then out of nowhere the sky started to get better and we were lucky enough to take this picture that it literally looks like it was taken out of Pinterest.

Your Musical Theme
Playlist :
Like I Want You - Giveon (R&B)
youtube
Giveon is an artist that I really like the way he mixes his deep voice with soft music. Because even though he has a really deep voice he has managed a way to make a name for himself in the R&B industry. This song he mentions on how he planned a date but the girl just left him waiting there and from then on the lyrics are a little harsh but that's just how R&B songs tend to turn out to.
Take Me Out To The Ballgame - Luke Combs (Country)
youtube
This song is by far one of my favorites of the album, and by far the one I identify myself with in the whole list, this describes little me so well, on how I used to ask my dad to go to the ballgame and asking repeatedly, trying to convince him in multiple ways. Since the divorce of my parents I had always thought that it was something that I had done but now I understand that it wasn't.
Falling Star - NoCap (Rap)
youtube
I have listened to this song since the second that came out, this song is basically the definition of someone who was destined to be a huge music star but by making the wrong decisions and by involving himself with the wrong people he just fell off. Then working hard again to try to make a name for himself. The reason why I chose it, is because I can kinda relate to it because I know I have made some bad decisions in my life that I later regret.
In Case I Ain't Around - Luke Combs (Country)
youtube
This song has recently become one of my favorites because I have gotten more into country music and this song was one of the very first ones that I listened to. In this song Luke is just talking straight to his son, all the songs in this album are towards his son and he mentions how proud and how much he loves him in case he isn't around in the future. This song I'm not going to lie about it almost brought me to tears because when you see the music video you can tell how hard he worked for this album and how much it means to him.
Boyz Don't Cry - Rod Wave (Rap)
youtube
This is by far my favorite song of all the songs in this list but maybe it is because Rod Wave is my favorite artist at the moment. In this song he lets everything out, from start to finish, then saying how when he goes on the internet he sees everyone making fun of his depression since he had suffered from depression before in the past. Then he mentions how he tells his mom on how he made it out of the streets and he made a name for himself.
This Sunday - Future (Rap)
youtube
The reason why I chose this song is because I really like the beat and I also really like Feature. He is one of my favorite artists and the collaboration with Metro Boomin which is one of the best producers in the industry right now is just really good. The lyrics of the song are a little harsh but in the same lyrics it gives a little background of what they do and what they go through every day.

Plotting
This morning I went to basketball practice to help out my old coach with practice, (situation) compared to all the other days, this morning we were at the track instead of the gym because the gym was being used for testing. (Interrupted by a change) It was raining and we got wet. (New situation) Then we decided to go into the weight room and start lifting weights because the guys weren't able to run their laps around the track. The reason why I decided to start coaching was because my coach asked me to come out and do it because he said he saw the potential in me to be able to be a coach in the future because of the way that I see the game and the way that i'm able to see the floor compared to other people. After last year's season he told me he would love to have me back and after talking with my mom and figuring out if this was the right choice I decided to call him back and told him that I was coming back to help him. He is actually letting me be me and he has actually told me to come out of my comfort zone and do whatever I need to do to make the guys get better and make them feel comfortable and that if I see something that I don't like or something that I think needs improvement then to point it out and do whatever I believe is the best in that moment.

Poetic License
The poem I decided to go with is called "Makin' Jump Shots" . I decided to go with this poem because it is basketball related and one of the most important things in my life is basketball and one of the things I am mostly attached to. This poem talks about one specific rule in basketball called "Traveling" which it happens when the player that has the ball gives more than two steps without bouncing the ball. Choosing this poem wasn't easy because there were a lot of good ones but I think I made a good choice.

Architectural Interiors
The first piece of domestic architecture I chose is my home, I chose this architecture because it is a place where I spend most of my time except when I'm at work or the gym or my girlfriend's house. This place I divided into three rooms and two bathrooms. One room is for me and the other two are for my mom and my sister respectively. Me and my sister have to use the same bathroom and the other bathroom is inside my mom's room. The effect of this division is that we each get our own space and we are not bothering each other. We also have a kitchen and a living room, which are the two places where we spend most the time talking while we watch TV and cook dinner. The reason why I chose my house as the first place is because in this place we each can express our feelings and what we are going through without being judged or being looked at weird for doing something. This place is the safest we feel, there is just a unique feeling we each feel that it is always hard to leave home whenever we go out of town because of how comfortable we feel.
The other place I chose was the basketball gym. I chose this place as well because it is a place that, just like my house, I can do whatever I want without being judged and feel relieved doing what I love to do the most, which is play basketball. Basketball came into my life early and ever since then I fell in love with the game and ever since then I have not been able to stop playing it. So both of the places I chose are because they both feel like home and they are where I spent most of my time.

Public Art

The place I have chosen for the public art assignment is the Barron Park in my town. I have decided to choose this place instead of a sculpture or any other piece of art because this place is not just a park, it is a place that holds lots and lots of history behind it and also holds the place for the annual swamp cabbage festival. This park is located near a bridge that divides my town with another town. The most important event that occurs at this park is the swamp cabbage festival that I mentioned before; this festival takes place on the last Saturday and Sunday of the month of February like it says in the first picture. Many and many people from and even out of town and from many different states of the US come and celebrate, in the second picture is shown kind of like the "stage" and is called like that because that is where people and groups perform during the festival all weekend long. This is a festival that brings all the community together and really brings the best out of everyone, from the parade on Saturday morning to the food and then to the performances by people. At this park there are also sculptures that are kind of impossible to go near them because they are protected by fences, the most important one is the one in the name of Julian Keen who was a FWC officer who dedicated his life to protecting people. Sadly Keen was killed back in June of 2020. Keen was at his LaBelle home with a friend when they heard a loud crash. They looked outside and noticed a black truck leaving the scene of an accident. When they arrived at the scene he and his friend were shot and killed by the suspect, the suspect was later sentenced to life in prison. That's the reason why I chose this place because besides being just a park it holds lots of history behind it.

Abstract Images
I chose this painting by artist Rafael Ferrer, he painted a man which by the looks seems to be African American, on one knee and painting or drawing on the floor. After analyzing the image and giving a brief description of the image this painting tells a lot. There are many ways this painting can be looked at, one way can be as the man drawing on the floor because he was trying to draw angles and stuff for work. It can also be looked at vandalism for him just wanting to draw on the floor. It can be looked at in many different ways. What made me chose this painting was the man outfit. It caught my attention because it looks like he has a suit on but also is just a regular jacket on him and what are the things that he is drawing on the floor, is he just drawing it just to draw? In my opinion this image is really hard to define or it really doesn't reveal anything because there isn't really anything that tells you what the man is doing or why he is doing what he is doing. The emotion this painting makes me feel is that the man in the picture is trying to express his feeling by what he is drawing on the floor. At first it seemed to be that he was drawing work stuff but as I analyze the picture more and more it looks like he is just expressing his feelings.

Representative Work

The piece of work I have chosen is the "family" one. Some details that are important in this picture are the word that is in the middle because that is the whole point of the picture and the meaning behind and why I decided to choose this picture. The details that attracted me the most to this picture was how happy and joyful they are, the mom, dad, and two kids just look like they are having the best time by themselves. My family is the most important thing for me and the ones that are always there for me, and I also feel like I should be posting this on my blog so people can get to know me a little better. They are the ones that if I have trouble doing something they are going to be there to support me and help me out. They are the one who have thought me not just the value of things but also of life, they are also the ones who have thought me the action of giving and I'm really thankful for that because seeing making peoples day or just bring a smile out of them is what it brings me joy, they also have thought me to do this without expecting something in return and just do it because I want to do it. They are also the ones that notice when I'm down and when I'm not feeling myself and they are always there to support me and ask me how they can make it better. A lot of people can relate to this picture and also to my description on why I chose this picture, nowadays I'm noticing that a lot of people are getting closer and closer to their families so that's also really cool.

This Is Me...
Hey everyone, my name is Jose Matos. I was born in Mexico but moved to Florida when 11. I moved with my mom and my sister with the mission of having a better education and a better way of living. I recently graduated high school and being used to having a counselor to being telling me to be on top of my stuff, but now having to do everything by myself is a little overwhelming but I'm pretty sure I'll get used to it as time goes by. Some of my hobbies are playing basketball and spending time with my family and loved ones. Recently I got the opportunity to be part of the basketball team but this year is on the sidelines as an assistant coach so that is going to be pretty cool. Right now I'm focusing of achieving my associate degree and then achieving my degree in business. Some people say that by the time I achieved my associate I would probably change my mind and choose another major field but I don't think that would happen. I also like to travel a lot with my family, last Christmas my family and I were able to go to Spain, France, Portugal, Mexico, and Cuba. This Christmas we are planning on going to Greece, Morrocco, Puerto Rico and Mexico again. I hope you guys got to learn a little more about me.
