I KNOW ISN'T IT WONDERFUL??? Esp at district awards. Like seeing them get so giddy, oh my gosh it makes my day. Or at banquents?? Like student council, theater, speech & debate, etc?? Even though I HATE student council, with a BURNING passion, it is so sweet to see these teenagers win awards. I love seeing other people happy AND proud of themselves. Like yes bro, be proud you talk competivley!! Doing better than half of the male podcast hosts already!!

This post is SO funny, but this is actually something I'm passionate about (And surprise, surprise, I saw a POI about it last week) (For those who don't follow my blog, POI is a speech & debate term, it's just a type of 10 minute speech)

The idea that straight people can't play gay roles is SO harmful. That's what an actor is... pretending to be something... And there is NO way to "act gay" other than like kissing the same gender?? Which I think I've seen my sister kiss her friends on the lips more times than I've kissed a dude. AND SHE'S STRAIGHT. There is no personality to being gay. While a few things do usually appeal to the gay crowd (ie; theater, art, poetry, etc) (Neil Perry...), it isn't JUST for gay people.

Plus that idea that straight folk can't play gay roles has harmed folks before. Take Kit Connor, who was forced to come out, because y'all couldn't handle a TEENAGER playing a gay teen. But I digress.

These "Behavioral Camps" Literally overwork children to the point of DEATH. One of the most dangerous ones being in Provo, Utah (And the wilderness school they went to was in Nevada, which is literally next to Utah. A surprising amount of these schools exist in Utah, so it's no surprise that there would be one one state over.)

listen if youre gonna write anything about piper and leo in the wilderness program, at least learn what they are. its not a school. its not a summer camp. its legalized child abuse.

From this post I keep getting recomendations of media with characters who stutter, so let me be clear:

There is a FINE line between "I have a stutter" and "I stuttered." HAVING a stutter is stuttering no matter the situation. Talking to your pet, to ordering pizza, to confessing to your crush. Someone who stuttered is just tripping over your words. Maybe you stuttered because of anxiety, that isn't a stutter. That's the anxiety. Like yes the ACTION is stuttering, but it's not the ACTUAL DISABILITY of a stutter.

Also if you are PLANNING to write someone who stutters, DO NOT do it wrong. We don't JUST go "B-b-b-b-because!" That is called repetition, BUT there are also other types of stuttering like blocking and elongation. If you want to write someone who stutters, I REALLY reccomend reading the book "Sometimes I just stutter" by Eelco De Geus. It's free online. It's meant for little kids to learn about their stutter, and give it to people who don't understand their stutter, but as someone who has been studying stuttering for literal years, I've learned stuff from it.

Jason Grace has a stutter. This man, praetor of Rome, one of the seven, child of one of the big three stutters. I mean, not only was he raised by wolves, and probably never learned to speak correctly, but also I just think it's a neat concept??? He was definitely mocked for it at first, but now that he's praetor? That's the least of his worries. When he came to Camp Half Blood, he didn't slow his speech as much, because there was no need to. Over the years, his stutter lessened, but it is still there. Espically in times of high emotion (Which is scientifically proven that people who stutter, stutter MORE in situations of high emotion).

I fear as someone with a diagnosed stutter, I've seen no pieces of published fictional media with a character who stutters. So it's me and my headcanons against the world as of current <\3

There are also mentions of suicide, WW2, domestic abuse, & homophobia. None of it is meant in malicious intent, middle/highschoolers just don't have a filter)

I also understand that it is proven that those things tank your mental health. I've seen it happen to my friends (And I've literally stopped hanging around people that do that crap) (Legit stopped dating a guy after a DAY, because I found out he did that stuff) (I still really like him, but I absolutely do not tolerate that stuff)
