Person A accidentally says they're dating someone in front of their family, which results in them asking Person B to be their partner for a couple of days.
The problem is, Person B is friends with person A's sibling and has been in love with Person A since they were all kids. They've been ignoring their feelings for so long, it's background noise.
Person A thinks of Person B as a great friend, and they have a tendency to go to Person B to get them out of trouble. It hits them hard that they're in love with Person B.
A classic Person B fell first, but Person A fell harder story.

“do you think you’ll still be writing fanfic when you’re 90?” yes, I do, and I hope AO3 is still here with me when I’m a 90 year old childless fanfic writer who writes slow burn dead dove do not eat dubcon gay sex enemies to lovers. next

just a heads up to my fellow writers out there that AO3 is currently fighting off bots commenting on people’s works to tell them that AO3 will delete their fics “due to the works being deprecated”, and the deletion will affect their accounts unless the authors delete the fics themselves first. IT IS A SCAM. AO3 will NOT delete your works. please do NOT fall for these bots!
I’ve been told the reason why these bots are doing this is due to copyright infringement issue where they’re trying to steal your works (possibly to train AI but this is just a guess) ‼️‼️‼️and once you deleted your fics, it will be either very difficult or impossible for you to claim ownership of your own fics when they were already deleted.‼️‼️‼️
a reminder that AO3 will never contact you through your comments section (in case they claim to be one of the moderators). AO3 will only contact you through your email address which you use to register your account, and it will be from AO3’s official handle. not some sketchy ass @
so if you get a comment telling you you should “delete your works to protect your account because AO3 is doing blah blah blah” report that comment. don’t delete your works.
PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THESE SCAM.
AO3 IS NOT DELETING WORKS.
DO NOT DELETE YOUR WORKS JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE CLAIMS THEY KNOW SOMETHING.

When a Character Is Grieving Someone They Never Got to Say Goodbye To
✧ They talk about the person in past tense… then correct themselves. Then stop talking entirely.
✧ They touch things that belonged to the person like they’re fragile, sacred, about to disappear.
✧ They hoard the last voicemail, last message, last anything. Play it. Don’t play it. Just knowing it exists hurts enough.
✧ They leave something untouched, an empty seat, a half-packed bag, a coffee order that isn’t theirs.
✧ They get irrationally angry when someone else seems to be “moving on.” As if forgetting is betrayal.
✧ They don’t let themselves cry all at once. It comes in pieces. Like they’re afraid too much grief will drown them.
✧ They over-apologize. For being quiet. For being distant. For not being okay.
✧ They become hyper-aware of time, dates, anniversaries, time zones, the exact moment everything ended.
✧ They get superstitious. Ritualistic. As if doing things "right" might reverse something.
✧ They smile when they talk about the person. But it’s brittle. And it never quite touches their eyes.

If you consume fanfic on ao3 and are 18+ and American I need you to lock in and call your senators saying you oppose a federal porn ban. This would effectively ban ao3 and being queer in public, among many other things, due to the intentionally vague language of the bill. I’m counting on queer tumblr and fandom tumblr to help me get the word out that you have to call your senators
