What’s this? A last chance to purchase several of Icy’s titles? Yes, yes it is.

Let me be clear (especially as I had noted multiple times I would not be doing any further publishing runs), this last chance to purchase event was not planned but there are two factors spurring it:

Several books that shipped out were lost in the mail due to a ripped open package :( So no matter what I will need to order more books to replace those and get them sent back out.

Icy’s fridge/freezer broke on Christmas Eve (thank you, 2020 xD) and she obviously needs to buy a new one ASAP and they are expensive >> 

As such, I will be doing a very quick 1 week book drive event for the titles pictured in my bookshop, ending on Monday, January 4, 2021 at 8pm CST. All books will be ordered the following day with the hope to ship them out mid-late January. 

This will be the absolute LAST CHANCE to purchase any of these titles. This does include the “A Collection of Langst Volume Three” zine, which contains a zine exclusive fic (Caged Nightmare ) that will not be publishing on my AO3 as well as a story in the Short(er) Story Collection Volume Three that will also not be publishing on my AO3.

As anyone who has been shipping packages recently knows, the USPS is really, really, really delayed. 

And, unfortunately, having your packages bounce around for a month (in which 3 are still missing and I’m trying not to cry over here) is not good on said packages as I had one buyer report theirs was ripped open and several books were lost, which included the Langst zine that is made by a separate publisher.

I reached out to that publisher to see if I could get a replacement copy (or copies, if these missing packages never show) at the bulk item cost and they said no, which unfortunately at this point is leading to $48 for a single new copy. I know >> 

I’m incredibly disappointed by that response, but I do have a duty to provide the book so I will be doing so even at that cost. But while I’m giving it some time (in the event I need to order more for these missing packages) I wanted to post here to see if anyone who did not do so earlier (and may have even voted as they wanted to on the poll ^^;) was interested in purchasing a copy of “A Collection of Langst Volume Three” should I reopen them for about a week’s time in January.

The cost would be the same as before; $19 + shipping, and while I can’t give a complete estimate they’d ship mid-late January.

Zines and books have arrived!

Unfortunately, a few copies of Sin have significant printing defects on the covers and I am missing one copy of another book that was ordered >> I’ve reached out to the publisher’s support, but have not yet heard back (and my favorite method of phone calls has been thwarted as they’ve disabled their line). I’m doing all I can to get those issues fixed and will send those orders as soon as I can.

I am otherwise packaging up some larger orders first and hope to send out all orders (other than the ones affected above) by the end of the week! Everyone should be getting a confirmed shipping email from BigCartel with tracking information, but if yours does not have tracking info listed please let me know and I’ll send that to you :)

I did decide to go with the original printer and pay for the extra costs out of pocket so the third zine will match its fellows both in size as well as colored interior cover and texture of the cover :) The proper way to round out this trilogy :)

Fic Preview: Caged Nightmare (Langst Zine Exclusive Fic)

Our zine exclusive fic of Lance + Locked in a Cage at 5,500 words is complete! You’ll want to purchase a copy of “A Collection of Langst Volume Three” from my bookstore if you are interested in reading this fanfiction :)

Orders for the 1 Week Last Chance Book Drive event close on Monday, January 4 at 8pm CST. As a reminder, this story will not be publishing on my AO3.

Summary: The cage is far, far too small to fit Lance, but the Galrans still force him into it. He’s then loaded like a piece of cargo on a ship bound for a cruel, painful destination and the journey to get there is just as harsh. As Lance floats in and out of consciousness over the days he comes to the conclusion that he’s dreaming when Keith of all people appears in the cargo hold (on a ship in the middle of space) to rescue him. But maybe that’s because it’s no dream at all. It has to be a nightmare because there is nothing crueler than false hope like this. But it seems so real and maybe… maybe he’s not dreaming after all.

Story snippet:

Something was there.

It was making soft tapping noises.

Feet.

Footsteps.

But the cargo hold was still pitch dark which meant they hadn’t landed which meant it wasn’t the Galrans which meant something else was there and Dios what was in here with him what was it going to do what was—

The sounds grew louder.

Closer.

Lance moaned low in the back of his throat.

The sounds immediately stopped.

And oh no.

Oh no no.

He’d just alerted whatever it was that he was in here too.

And, and now it was going to…

Lance didn’t want to go to the commander to be tortured to death but…

But he was less terrified of that than being eaten alive.

He doubted the cage would protect him.

He let out another low sob at the very thought.

Dangerous.

Not dangerous.

What was the cage, exactly?

The sounds started up again, quicker.

Closer.

Would it be quick?

Would it hurt?

Would—

“Lance?”

The sound — his name, that was his name — was accompanied by a flare of light and Lance may have screamed as it seared  against his eyes, closed as they were, and that was followed by a “holy fuck!” and the light shut off just as fast.

But as much as the sudden light had hurt, Lance ignored that pain.

Because he knew that voice.

And it didn’t belong to some creature of darkness and nightmares.

Although certain hairstyles could be considered a nightmare.

Lance let out a sound between a sob and a laugh that hurt both his body and his throat and made his head pound but he didn’t care.

Because somehow, against all the insane odds, he was being rescued.

He was being rescued by Keith.

Story Snippet: Lance + Locked in a Cage for Zine Exclusive Fic

I’m hard at work on the zine exclusive fic and I’m very excited for it ♥

“Come on, little Paladin,” a clawed hand clamped on Lance’s bare shoulder, painfully squeezing and sending a rivulet of blood down Lance’s back, pushing down and forcing Lance’s knees to buckle. “In you go.”

Lance knew, in a way, the cage was safer than the violent, knife-loving Galrans who had been in charge of the torture part of his interrogation for the past several days and who, with the Druid’s final input, had ultimately determined Lance knew nothing of value. It both stung at how true it was and it was also a relief because at least if he had been stupid enough to end up captured he wasn’t going to endanger anyone else because of it.

But he also knew the cage was dangerous.

Because once he went in…

There was no coming out.

Not until…

“Get in!” and a heavy boot landed between his shoulder blades and Lance’s head struck the top opening of the cage door, vision flaring white.

It came back as unkind hands grabbed at his legs and chest and shoved him the rest of the way into the too small enclosure, limbs jammed up and metal wires pressing painfully into his back as he was pushed further in.

He barely fit.

They made him, his body curled up on the floor, knees pressing into his chest and chin, and his head brushing against the top of it and around the pain Lance felt a sharp jolt of panic as even though he could see out of it, the space was too small, the walls too close and—

The gate shut with a clang that made Lance recoil and the Galrans laughed, drowning out the sound of his roaring pulse and muffled pants against the gag they’d forced between his teeth.

In the overnight hours we had two preorder come in for “A Collection of Langst Volume Three” which propelled us to 25/25 for the first stretch goal, being a zine exclusive fic! ♥ Thank you to all who helped us reach this! Current Langst Zine Stretch Goal: 26/33 (inclusion of Patreon exclusive fic)

Poll: Which Patreon Exclusive Fic would you like included in "A Collection of Langst Volume 3" in the event the first stretch goal (25 preorders) is not reached?

I’m trying to remain optimistic, but as we get closer and closer to the closing of preorders (a little over 1 week left) and the numbers for “A Collection of Langst Volume Three” are stuck at 16, I’m forced to be realistic that it’s unlikely we’re going to be making that stretch goal for a zine exclusive fic.

I based the stretch goals upon previous numbers the Langst zine volumes sold (62 and 51, respectively) and felt that 25 was a more than attainable number to include that zine exclusive fic for this run. Sadly, whether it’s COVID, lack of interest or a combination of both, we’re just not there. 

Since I left about 4-5k of space in the zine for this fic and I want to still reward those that did purchase the zine, in the event we do not reach that stretch goal, and I felt the best way to do that was to include another fanfiction but to sweeten it I’ve chosen to select from my Patreon exclusive Fic of the Months :)

The Chill of Loneliness

Summary: Lance couldn’t be more thrilled. A special mission that only he and the Blue Lion could undertake due to the insanely cold temperatures and a way to further their slowly growing bond? Sign him up! But when the mission goes sideways Lance finds himself all alone with no hope of backup, slowly freezing to death and he can’t find his way back to Blue. He had hoped to prove himself on this mission but… but it looks like all he’s going to do is die instead.

Crimson Puddle

Summary:  Lance tried to stop it. He did. But the blood just keeps coming; gushing, oozing. It’s everywhere now; his leg, his hands, all over the floor. The crimson puddle keeps growing while he only grows weaker, the world going dark and cold and numb. And he never… he never thought he’d die like this.

The Power of a Hug

Summary: A retelling of the fight in “The Depths” where Hunk is stronger, faster, more ruthless and will do anything to keep his queen safe and warm, even if that means hurting his best friend. And where Lance knows if Hunk discovers how badly he hurt him he will never, ever, forgive himself. So there’s only one thing to do: hide his injuries and hope that no one, especially Hunk, ever finds out.

The Warmth of a Scar

Summary: Lichtenberg scars, Hunk explained softly. That was the term they used on Earth to describe the dark lines seared into Lance’s skin from the lightning strike, the strike that had also taken his right eye. Those scars represented pain and loss and despair. But to Allura… they were beautiful. They felt safe. And she hoped she could help Lance to see the same.

So... let me lay it out here...

We’ve hit a bit of a road block here and I’m hoping we can stumble our way over it, but for the moment Lance stretch goal status is at 15/25 to a zine exclusive fic. Which, granted, we have about 3 weeks to go but it’s definitely a slower start than I thought it would be even factoring in various circumstances ^^;

In the event we somehow don’t reach that... well, I’ll include a little something for everyone who did order one, but the zines would be changing printers to help reduce costs some. Still a beautiful, high quality zine, but there wouldn’t be an interior colored cover (the horror ;p). Thank you for your understanding if unfortunately that does come about.

Okiedoke, based on the (lack of) any feedback, I’m going to go ahead and assume that incentive drives hold no interest. 

I’ll just be doing standard reposting then and noting the stretch goal count for the Langst zine. 

Based on the response and how sales have been, this will be the last print run I’m doing so if you wanted copies for any of the books this will be the last chance. Sort of bummed as I’d thought of doing an AU shorter story collection next year along with the Mer!Lance fic from Patreon, but I suppose a set of three for both that and the Langst zines has a nice, final note to it, huh?

In the event I do any more book drive events, are there any particular incentives that would encourage you to purchase a book at that time? Just looking for some feedback as commissions don’t seem to really be hitting any interest ^^; (although sales aren’t either so maybe this book run just wasn’t meant to be xD)
