i’m almost certain this has been said before but i find the last names in spy x family to be such cool details.

like forger, as in forged and fake. the authens, perhaps referencing the word authentic and real. it’s a very minor and obvious addition to the story but i love it nonetheless.

Something we as a fandom need to stop overlooking is Ben’s backstory!!

Genuinely so far out of all the kids Ben has the most heartbreaking story ever and it’s so overlooked and basically flat out ignored so you guys can just mischaracterise him as ur “little mute baby” (actual comment under a video about Ben) like he has so much more depth. Not only has he recently gone through being judged and feared for his size and talent, then a group tried to ‘fix’ him by making him into something he never wanted to be then after weeks of torment which he parents didn’t even question?!? They finally pushed him to his breaking point and took away the one thing he enjoyed doing, singing. And then he couldn’t even bear to speak after that and then he completely snapped and became the one thing he fought to not be and he got addicted to fighting and after a fight he started he comes home, probably completely tired and worn out he sees his house on fire. Not only were his parents neglecting his injuries and him In general now they send him away, he gets seperated from his little sister, he has to move to a whole new school, not able to talk and no friends except for your cousin and after all that you finally thought you were going to have some peace and now you get transported into a demonic deme soon every night, slowly turning into one of these creatures (which have violent tendencies) and now he’s turning back into the version of himself that he was trying to move on from. AND HE CANT EVEN TALK TO ANYONE ABOUT IT BECAUSE HE CANNOT TALK!!

Anyways we need to recognise this more because Ben is not ur little baby or just aidens cousin because he is literally the most interesting character with the saddest most tragic backstory!! Ty for listening to my rant 🥰

I don’t think the words exist to describe how much I connect with the band Good Kid on like, a spiritual level. They make indie rock music and I love rock. They literally just don’t copyright strike people who use their music because they *want* other creators using it which is behavior I’ve wanted to see from literally anyone for years. They make tons of songs about like anxiety and mental health stuff I can relate to. They unapologetically wear their interests and influences on their sleeves. They name their songs after animes they watch or just whatever the fuck they were drinking when they wrote it. They comment on random, fanmade lyric videos of their songs. They make anime edits of THEIR OWN MUSIC. They make shorts talking about what inspired certain songs, what the songs mean, and stuff like that. Every time I look at how they act I go “That’s what I wanna be if I ever get popular”. It’s really magical stuff.

Plus their music is just fuckin banging.

I know some people who don’t know the reason behind Axolotl’s name in Gravity Falls so im putting my thoughts on the internet to clear this up

As you may know, Bill Cipher is largely based off the Aztec god, Xolotl, who is the god of things like deformities, weirdness, and twins— all of which are prevalent themes in GF.

However the main thing Xolotl was known for was being the god of death. He supposedly led souls through the layers of the afterlife. We can perhaps see this a bit with Bill Cipher, leading the Henchmaniacs from their dimension to Gravity Falls, and viewing the Mindscape as a different layer of existence and reality.

quick tangent, when you add the prefix “a-” to a word it means “lack of”, and in many cases it reverses the meaning of a word. For example, “symmetrical” and “asymmetrical”.

So here we have Xolotl, who can lead souls through the layers of the afterlife, and we have AXOLOTL, who can supposedly take Bill Cipher OUT of it*

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE THEORY

so if you haven't listened to mama, or if you haven't seen the trailer titled "opera" then i suggest going and doing that first, because these will be the center of my theory, however i am going to paste images of what im talking about here, so you can get away without it.

now mama by my chem is about a soldier with a strained relationship with his mother and trying to apologize before he dies, we can glean this from these particular lines

and of course the mother feels the same way

and this line is specifically delivered with a classical singing style, you know what's a classical singing style

looked like she was going to sing opera to the men in front of her, and her mouth made the movement, but instead we hear a distorted semi terrifying scream instead.

we also know that this city got destroyed in a war, but the question is a war with who?

the new tour trailer have imagery reminiscent of fascism, if this fascist government was limiting people rights, and causing the death and starvation of civilians, there would be an uprising? would there not. so i prepouse this.

the theory

i believe that the mother of the narrator in mama is actually the opera woman. the opera woman works for the government, and the son is apart of the rebellion. when the son dies this affect the rebellion strongly, and the mother must report this to the men seen in the video. the screaming is a metaphor for her grief as she tell the government what has happened, despite her neutral expression, she is angered for her son has died.

"Gerard way is the renaissance-type singer songwriter // Goth prince frontman // comic book artist // proud father best known for both his solo music and his band My Chemical Romance. We got a chance to ask him a few questions in early January. Enjoy!

What is your favorite animal?

I would have to say an ape; for a long time I didn’t take the time to know the difference between primates, but my wife and I have been really into animals—apes are just very gentle creatures.

As an emotional professional, how do you feel when people tell you to man up?

You know, growing up as a boy you are always told not to show your emotions, that it is a sign of weakness. I have been lucky enough to lead a life where I can celebrate how I really feel—but there is still negative attention towards it and it is still considered weakness.

Is there a point, then, where one does need to (for lack of a better word) man up?

You know I really don’t like that phrase. “man up”, because it implies that emotional strength in rough times is a masculine trait, when in reality some of the strongest people I know are women. But yes, there are a lot of times when you should control your emotions–  times of crisis and need where you really can’t let them get involved. I have learned to pull my emotions out of a lot of big decisions.

You often make it a point to spread the message of gender equality in your shows. Could you describe that a little bit?

It is something I have been lucky enough to be educated about. I generally try to pay attention to it, make sure I get my facts from the best sources and whatnot, and I really relate to it. I never really subscribed to the archetype masculinity growing up, I had no interest in sports or anything like that. There was a time where I was called a girl so often that when I discovered the idea of transgenderism I considered myself to be more of a girl. So I identify with trans people and women a lot because I was a girl to a lot of people growing up. When I was doing MCR I think I finally got to display my femininity through the glam theatrical aspects of the band. It made me feel more hopeful, that I was allowed to be flamboyant. I want to make sure women and men and everyone in between feel safe and empowered.

Was there a person or thing that first sparked your interest in feminism?

When I was around 16 I became friends with these really cool girls, and that’s how I got exposed to Bikini Kill, Helium, Bratmobile—that was the real punk. All the other hardcore scenes at the time were a little bit hypermasculine and violent, which was totally unappealing to me. But here are these bands—Bikini Kill, et cetera that were actually talking about important things. That was real punk. Great bands.

What sort of advice can you offer to all of us boyz reading?

You have to surround yourself with ‘the others’. Whether they’re the creatives that you know or whatever it is. Because you guys will feed each other, that’s the nature of people. Find companions who will push you in the field you are in.

Do you hang onto traces of boyishness? Comics and digging up worms?

Well first off I don’t consider those things boyish. I am really happy that things like comics have become less marketed specifically toward boys—did you know that 50 percent of comic book readers are girls now? There is a really great picture I saw one time of a little girl with all the spiderman toys in a toy store clearly angry that they were in the ‘boys’ section. We need to let kids have more freedom of choice in who they want to be.

But answering your question, I have always been super into comic books. I didn’t really ever like sports, so I played dungeons and dragons a lot. That was a really important creative outlet for me. Of course I still love Star wars, and biking.

How do you find ways to stay positive?

Society is so interconnected these days, there is so much noise. It is really important I think to turn the noise down, to find ways to do so. Whether you’re in a creative field or not, you need to find a way to follow what is in your gut because that noise that is so obstructive is   creeping. Think about the art you make, the people you love.

My routine is really simple but important to me. I wake up every morning and my wife and I get our daughter ready for school and I drive her there. And that’s when work begins for me. I am lucky that one day I can be recording a new song and the next I am putting all of my energy into a comic.

Do you consider your marriage to be a partnership?

I am very glad you asked. I consider my whole family dynamic a three way partnership actually. My wife and I have been partners since day one, and now our daughter is the newest addition to the mix. Of course we have different duties to each other—my wife and my job is to educate my daughter  and make her feel great and teach her how to work hard, to let her choose what she loves. That’s very important to us. It is great coming home from the road because Lindsay (my wife) and I get to work together more.

Age in the phantom dimension?😭

So the sbg gang is currently running on a 31-hour clock right now. They spend seven hours in the phantom dimension every night, but time doesn’t move in the human dimension when this happens, so they spend another 24 hours there.

THIS SHIT ADDS UP 😭

We know that the phantom dimension does not influence the human dimension, but rather vice versa, so the kids likely are not growing at a faster rate in the human dimension than they would if they WERENT pulled into the rift.

BUT does this mean the seven hours they spend in the phantom dimension have NO impact on their age in either dimension?

The sbg gang ages in the phantom dimension, causing an irregularity with the human dimension. What if this disruption counts as “messing with the ‘item’ in the phantom dimension”, hence SEVERING the connection between their Phantom Dimension age and their Human Dimension age?

This would mean that while the version of the kids in the human dimension would be aging 24 hours a day, the phantom dimension version would only be aging 7 hours a day. That’s less than 1/3rd of the pace! Imagine anyone ends up spending, say, 15 years of their life stuck in the rift— the phantom dimension version of themselves would be over 10 years younger.
