Call of the void.

Something that Danny wanted to explore together with space, was the ocean.

The thing is: both were terrifying to him, but the thrill of the unknown, the immense voids that nature was capable of...

It was absolutely, existentially dreadful.

He loved it!

He wasn't really afraid of getting lost if he tried to take a stroll around, since he could quickly reach land, so why not try?

It wasn't really his fault that he let himself go!

Danny didn't even realize it was happening, but ectoplasm is a substance that tends to fill space. Between molecules, between atoms, it's everywhere, it's the ambient.

thunderbolts fandom only existing for like... four days and already having so much absurd and annoying shipping discourse is just another side-effect of this enshittification of fandom that's been happening since *check notes* voltron and the pandemic imo.

but one of the most annoying recent fandom trends is forcing characters into this nuclear family dynamic and the way it's made shipping discourse unbearable. "alexei's the dad, bob yelena and ava are the big siblings and bob is the little brother," on paper, is a harmless headcanon. the problem is the weaponization of these family headcanons to fuel ship wars.

bob and yelena have a deep bond in thunderbolts. you can interpret it as a sibling dynamic. you can also interpret it as romantic or queerplatonic or literally whatever you want. the problem is the same people who call bob yelena's "little brother" are simultaneously saying that any romantic interpretation of their characters is "incestuous weirdo behavior."

like, can we not?

and while boblena is the ship that's taking the most heat right now, i've been seeing hostility towards any variation of any thunderbolts ships. john/ava, john/bob, bucky/alexei, bob/void (which, lmfao, is SUCH a typical ship to me that people getting up in arms about it just proves we've let too many normies into fandom spaces). even yelena/kate is catching strays right now. and it doesn't have to be this way.

again, can we not? just say you're not into any of the ships and move on with your life.

these are not siblings. these are grown adults who grew to care about each other after experiencing traumatic events. "found family" trope has gotten so out of control it genuinely makes fandom less fun.

More thoughts on romantic Tendonna is like. Donna having thoughts wondering if The Doctor would find her worthy or if they truly belong together or any of those million little insecurities where she thinks she's not special or brilliant enough? All that's already covered by their slightly batshit slightly obsessive friendship. The REAL agony Donna would have if she ever fell for The Doctor is how she somehow managed to be in love with a man (genderweird alien) that has no ass

Have said it before will say it again. Am not against romantic Tendonna. Not personally my thing but I'll read the occasional fic for them for fun and I think people can enjoy themselves. My suspension of disbelief does however end when people write Donna as thinking The (Tennant) Doctor(s) is sooooo hot and sexy. If she's attracted to his ass its much less "*sigh* he's so dreamy" and much MORE "My boyfriend looks like a stickbug and a Cockatiel made a joint humansona and I like him so much"

Ten and Donna end up on a fucked up deadly space newlyweds show despite uh. Not being newlyweds but they get almost all the questions right. They start to sweat when the final question is "what's one secret desire you have involving the other?" And Donna writes "sometimes I wish I could occasionally shrink down the doctor real small so I could carry him around in my pocket and make sure he doesn't get lost' while Ten writes "sometimes I wish I was small enough that Donna could carry me around in like a cat backpack or maybe a shirt pocket" and they look at each other like AYYYYYY because not only are they deeply drift compatible they're also fuckin weird about it 💖

Donna Noble originally being a one off character is so funny because like. She got the typical one off character send off and they had a lovely little exchange of "will I ever see you again?" 'if I'm lucky" which normally. Would be the end of it. But they had to match each other's freak to an absurd enough degree that it's like well okay in two years we're gonna have a soul shattering separation and then 15 years after THAT we're gonna have a house in France together. Does that sound good orrrr?

My favorite thing about this scene personally is that the Doctor was fully able to speak, but instead of directly telling Donna what he needs, he decides to make fun of her answers and I think that is peak sibling dynamic
