let's build a village together 💕

i found this super cute animal crossing picrew and decided i wanted to live in a video game with y'all today 😂 disclaimer: i've never actually played animal crossing because i fear if i start, i'll never stop 😅
also drop an "achievement" you unlocked lately to make things more interesting and celebrate the small wins(?) in life!! 🎉
🏆 CHAOTIC MULTI-TASKER — achieved when i added 2 books to the one i'm currently reading and started learning one more language in addition to my main 3 💀 (and making barely bare-minimum progress in everything now 🤡)
tagging all my moots because this is my first time starting a tag game and i'm excited 🤭 love you guys!! (and sorry if i missed anyone who follows me via main but i follow your sideblog or smth 😭 just consider yourself tagged as well 😉) 💞 @pianistbynight @winryrockbellwannabe @megumi-fm @obakanosandoitchi @manasseh @jukain4216 @shoosiopao @tea-tuesday @yughostlavia @shhhitscoffeetime @phnxstudies @girl-please-study @studykac @nelyastudies @soul-ology @lemonempress @alittlebreak @whenmemoriesfrost @cheste7 @juststudyyy @solarsapphic @ros3ybabe @malaidarling @indigostudies @tokidokitokyo @cinammon-buns @hanabeeri @relativeficti0n @issacovegx @sayitalianohome @perabera @paramnesia9 @cravingstudyvalidation @mortuarymorticia @getbreaded @roxysbbg @ilonar0 @panda-studiesmed @casiopeasmiles @strangeclayanimal @anna--studies @socksgrowssocks @the-awesomecosmos-studies @wwitss

Hello... ☕🌿
TW/ eating disorders (recovery though)
I didn't exactly know where to post this message, so I ended up choosing my side blog.
I've been struggling with anorexia for four years now, but now I'm in recovery after having been extremely underweight. Yet things are far from being smooth and easy. The weight gain made me feel horrible... and recovery from anorexia has now turned into binge eating/bulimia (I do not make myself vomit, but I do exercise a lot to compensate).
Having your disorder turning into its exact opposite is one of the worst feeling. I totally lose control and I feel so ashamed of it.
Has anyone else been in this case? How do you deal with this?
It is not "extreme hunger" at all at this point. It used to be, but now it isn't anymore. I don't know how to get through this. I feel ashamed and I hate myself for this, and now food is becoming even more obsessing that before.
I just wish I could have a normal relationship with food.

Bonus:
I was tagged by @zzzzzestforlife for this cute picrew game! It's how you look now vs when you were younger :)
Young me used to spend around 20 minutes each morning to straighten her hair because it used to be a complex... 🥹 I always thought my hair was just "messy wavy", never the "pretty wavy/curly" so I didn't like it!
I don't really have anyone to tag, so anyone who sees this, feel free to do it!

life lately // enjoying myself so hard it's getting dangerous 🤭
in this issue 🔍: brain-rot target language input 🇯🇵🇨🇳🇰🇷 & if icarus was a workaholic 👩💻✍️🍝

"language learning" but it's just brain-rot 🧠
🇯🇵 Shogun (9/10) — objectively a really good show, but a lot of death and triggering topics for me personally 🥺
🇯🇵 Spy x Family (5/10) — i can only watch one episode at a time now because the plot is getting increasingly ridiculous, please don't be mad at me if you're a fan 😅
🇨🇳 When I Fly Towards You (6/10) — it's silly, but it's also just what you expect from kids of the characters' ages and at times it does tickle that part of my brain that likes candy (i still like Exclusive Fairytale better though, 对不起 张陆让)
🇯🇵 Petrichor 花鋏 キョウ (10/10) — my new favorite album!! ☺️ even @pianistbynight likes this one and she usually prefers classical music!
🇰🇷 Seventeen on Shuffle (10/10) — my usual suspects never miss 😌
too close to the sun but finally looking in the mirror ☀️🪞
i gave myself a headache from working too much in poor physical conditions again 😭 i didn't notice until the end of the day because i was on a roll at work and it's rare when that happens, so in a messed up way, i feel it was worth it?? i bought a new chair and rearranged my desk setup a little to be more ergonomic, but that only does so much when i have one good night of sleep a week 🙃
my poor sleep is low-key my own fault though since i write and binge cinema therapy videos late into the night because i love doing those things so much that my brain won't shut up until i do them 😛
in other news, i made my favorite pasta recipe!! 😋 but i burned myself and didn't notice until i started washing the dishes in hot water ♨️ wow, me enjoying myself so much i don't notice i'm hurting myself is a real theme here... 🙈 something to work out in detail in my diary some time 🤔
💌: how's life been treating you lately? 💐
bonus: @pianistbynight tagged me in this fun picrew game (how you look now vs when you were younger) and it made me miss my good eyesight 🥲 everyone, take good care of your eyes by taking lots of outdoor breaks (with UV protection!!) 👀
💞: @shoosiopao @tea-tuesday @tokidokitokyo @ink-stained-clouds @ilonar0 @cravingstudyvalidation @getbreaded @nelyastudies @roxysbbg @cinammon-buns and anyone else who made it to the bottom of this post 😉

probably i just said it but i want to say it again:
- don’t apologise if you don’t know english.
- yes, english is the most common language on the internet but you are not forced to know it perfectly.
- your own language is beautiful.
- non-english people make a huge effort to write in English everyday on this website.
- support non-english people and don’t make them feel bad if they do not know English.
- actually support all the languages.
- spread more language diversity on Tumblr.
thank you.

My head is literally spinning, yet I've slept last night and even had a nap yesterday because I wasn't feeling well. I feel too tired to do anything, and even focusing on a book feels unbearable?
I wanted to exercise today but I felt way too unwell for that.

finish decluttering the painting/art shelves
continue reading “l'interprétation des cotes de fées” + take notes from it

executive dysfunction studying tips (for when you're running on fumes)
I wrote a semi-popular post some time ago compiling studying tips for those with executive dysfunction – but as someone who also suffers from intermittent fatigue, I figured it might be more or just as helpful to compile some strategies that work for us even when we're insanely low energy and want nothing more than to just climb back into bed and go to sleep.
Get out of your bedroom (or whatever room you sleep in). This is often the hardest part... but in your bedroom, your bed is Right There. The temptation can become too great. Personally, I can't get anything done in my room – I just end up watching YouTube. I'll drag myself out to the library or a coffee shop, but even if this just means moving yourself to the living room or dining room instead, it helps.
If you're in an environment with other people, every time someone walks behind you and has a chance of seeing your screen, it'll remind you to stay focused or get back on track if you were distracted.
Set a timer on your phone for how long you'll work for. It gives you something to look forward to, even if you get in a groove and keep working after that. It doesn't have to be long – just 15 minutes is still better than none, and it jump-starts the mindset of being in "work mode" without you having to expend a lot of energy to get there. I usually go for 1-1.5 hour timer. >> use whatever time you've got. don't feel beholden to 1-hour intervals.
A beverage or a snack really does help. I'm partial to oolong tea with milk and honey, myself.
"body doubling" is the practice of doing work silently with other people doing work, where seeing them be productive boosts your own productivity. We're super asocial and don't utilize this one often, but we know it's really helpful for many people. Sitting on discord VC with someone also counts, btw!
Make a list of things you need to get done if you can. You can do this 30 minutes in, cus honestly its sometimes harder to do this step than it is to just start working. it's just to make sure you don't forget anything.
Remember that anything is better than nothing
sometimes its easier to email a teacher or professor for an extension than it is to do the work. they're usually understanding, and it's good to understand your own limits.
and i reiterate: don't sacrifice sleep or meal-time. if you're already tired, it'll seriously only make you feel worse.

Nicknames in Japanese
Nicknames in Japanese are fascinating to me because they are so variable and fun to play with, much like Japanese itself.
あだ名 adana nickname
ニックネーム nikkuneemu nickname
In terms of pet names there are not many general ones. Perhaps あなた (anata) - used by a wife to her husband - is the most well known pet name, but outside of that I haven't found many mentions of them. I have heard of the English-origin ダーリン (daarin = darling) and ハニー (hanii = honey), but I have never heard of anyone actually using these in real life.
Nicknames, however, are more common as a play on someone's name. They can be used to call a senior classmate without sounding too formal (and having to append さん [-san] to the end of a name) or to express affection towards friends or significant others. They are usually used for someone you are close with, so I would not recommend using them with someone you just met (unless they ask you to call them by a nickname), and especially not with older people or those of higher rank or in business situations.
Nicknames often come in the form of a name ending that is attached to all or part of a first or last name. I am not an expert by any means, and this is not comprehensive at all, but I wanted to compile a list of some common nicknames and give you a sense of how they would be used on a variety of names.
1. Cut the name in half and use くん (-kun) or ちゃん (-chan) at the end
This is very common, because many Japanese names have at least 3 or 4 syllables. It depends on the name whether the first 1 or 2 (or the last 1 or 2) syllables are used, and sometimes you need to throw in a small つ (tsu - which doubles up the consonants) to make it flow well. You can use it for a first name or a last name.
2. Add っち (cchi) to the end of the name
This one is kind of cute sounding. You can append it to the end of the full name or to the end of the first couple syllables.
Example: まこと (Makoto) → まこっち (Makocchi) ♂ ゆみこ (Yumiko) → ゆっち (Yucchi) ♀ ゆい (Yui) → ゆいっち (Yuicchi) ♀
3. Adding an ん (n) to the end of the name
This works better with some endings than others. り (ri)・の (no)・る (ru) are examples of endings where ん is commonly appended. You can also add りん to the end of a name, although this works better with names that already end in り or another い/う-ending name.
Example: いおり (Iori) → いおりん (Iorin) ♂ ゆきの (Yukino) → ゆきのん (Yukinon) ♀ ゆり (Yuri) → ゆりりん (Yuririn) ♀
4. Adding たん to the end of the name
This is a baby-talk way of saying ちゃん. This was originally considered as an otaku nickname, as it appeared in net slang at the end of an otaku's favorite (usually female) character, but it is used a little more widely now, especially for younger children because it is cutesy. You can cut the name in half again and/or modify it, or add it to the end of a full first or last name.
Example: もも (Momo) → ももたん (Momotan) ♀ かなと (Kanato) → かなたん (Kanatan) ♂
5. Adding ちん to the end of the name
Another baby-talk way of saying ちゃん. I often see this used for dogs or babies, but it can be used affectionately for friends as well. I mostly see it as a female nickname when it's not for pets or babies. Again, you can cut the name in half or modify it, or put it at the end of a full first or last name.
Example: ゆな (Yuna) → ゆなちん (Yunachin) ゆか (Yuka) → ゆかちん (Yukachin) なや (Naya) → なーちん (Naachin) ♂ たけうち (Takeuchi) → たけちん (Takechin) ♀/♂ (last name)
6. Other endings for nicknames
Using the tricks I've described above, you can create other nicknames with these endings:
-きゅん kyun
-ちゅん chun
-にゃ nya
-にゃん nyan
-ぬ nu
-はん han
-ぴ pi
-ぴょん pyon
-ぺこ peko
-ぽぽ popo
-まる maru
-みゅ myu
-やん yan
Even if your name is not of Japanese origin, you can use these rules to make yourself a Japanese-sounding nickname. You can use the first one or two syllables of your first or last name and add one of these endings to come up with a nickname. This is not only fun, it is also a great way to help Japanese people pronounce your foreign - and possibly difficult-to-pronounce - name.

改まった形|Polite Forms
In formal settings like in a business meeting or at a public gathering some words are switched with politer forms. You often hear them when somebody is giving a speech, holding a presentation or on TV. But they appear in written form as well, especially in business context. Basically, everywhere where keigo is used, it is also expected to apply politer forms.

☆ day 13/100 days of productivity ☆
Morning:
read one chapter from a book
finished my illustration for this dtiys (it was so amazing to do!!)
studied + journaled (kind of)
listened to this video about booktok
౨ৎ⋆˚。⋆
Afternoon:
read a manga
worked out (dance + weight lifting)
edited the video of this morning's illustration process!
posted the said video
did some cleaning + decluttered part of my shelves
sketches + pose study
art book reading + study
౨ৎ⋆˚。⋆
Evening:
more sketches

Notes:
I hope this time I'm really getting back on track. I feel like today was pretty good in my opinion, though I'm still feeling super tired (and I already felt that way when I woke up, like?) But every time I've got some good days, the only thing I can think of is "When is this going to end?" 'cause I know how good things never last long with me 🤪
Also, I'm kind of desperate about my readings lately, cause I usually read a lot, but lately the only thing I'm able to read are manga (not shaming them of course!), because it's literally the only thing short enough for me to focus on :) Thinking about all the novels + non fics that I've got to read make me wanna bury myself lol

Things on my mind:
finish decluttering the painting/art shelves
continue reading "l'interprétation des cotes de fées" + take notes from it
put my frame on the walls
