Just finished Squid Game 3 and it really is such a perfect example of why writers need to think more about writing a satisfying ending and not just what “makes sense” or “is the most realistic.”
Such a letdown, so much wasted potential.
#writing#look I’m not going to pretend I’m an expert at satisfying endings#but I really do try to think in terms of ‘Will my readers like this?’#over ‘is this a fitting end for all characters involved?’#if readers hate it then to me it doesn’t matter if it’s fitting or makes sense#it’s not a story people love in the end#and I tell stories because I want other people to enjoy them

Fandom Problem #9609:
It’s always so wild to me when there’s a character in a piece of media who is like canonically and explicitly stated to be a master manipulator and then people in the fan base will try to argue that the person is actually good and being earnest and it’s just like bro you’ve fallen for the manipulation.

Things I Didn’t Think Would Be Hard To Write But ARE
Walking into a room
Transitioning between scenes without it feeling awkward
Two characters saying “I love you” without it being cringe
Describing a character’s face without using the word “eyes” 500 times
A battle scene that doesn’t feel like a turn-based RPG

Fanfiction writers, I need you!
If you are a fanfiction writer and like to fill forms, hi :)
I am writing my master thesis about the commercialization of fanfiction, and I'd love to know your opinion on this topic. If you have a few minutes to spare, I would greatly appreciate your help!
1) Fill the form
2) Share around! 🤗
Thank you, and take care 🧚♀️
#people have asked if I’d ever consider adapting the Dis series into an original novel series#but there is no way I could possibly make that work#the premise of the original media is simply too far baked into the plot#I couldn’t divorce it easily

Fandom Problem #9545:
I unironicly miss when everyone and their mother ran their own fansite. Sure they were a bit cringey, with the copy pasted sprite images for links and whatever Linkin Park song they liked playing as soon as the page loaded. But when someone wrote in all caps "I AM THE BIGGEST "x" FAN EVAR" at the top of the page, you knew they were in fact the biggest fan evar.
I miss when people could just enjoy things without having to qualify it or explain it somehow. It was just "this thing gives me joy and I want to share it with you".
#ahhhhh yes I had several of my own fansites back in the day#I even learned HTML and CSS to make them look extra prettyful#those were fun days

I literally just saw a post in the whump tag that was like “hey can we just create some universal group of thugs that all fandoms can use anytime we want to get right into torturing our blorbos without writing a whole backstory first” and I was like yeah we just don’t have that problem in our fandom lol
Danny Phantom has such a natural, legitimate setup for torture fics. Like torture fics are more fringe in other fandoms but in ours, torture is a very mainstream genre. Like so mainstream Sam would hate it.

Fandom Problem #9513:
People simply ignoring cannon information about a character because they “Don’t like it”. I’m not saying it’s bad to have headcannons or AUs, It’s just when people COMPLETELY ignore an aspect such as a personality trait, part of the backstory, etc.
