Pet Names (Part 2)
Here’s the second part, I hope everyone enjoys! 🧡
“So, Bakugou, what do you even like about Iida?” Kirishima asked curiously as he walked back with piles of blankets, moving to the chaise in the corner.
“Don’t even think about it Shitty Hair, that’s mine and Tenya’s spot,” Katsuki growled threateningly, the kitchen knife in his hand glinting.
“Okay, got it!” He chirped, not at all fazed by the blonde. He threw his blankets on the ground in front of the TV and moved on to the kitchen, “Are you gonna answer my question?”
“What question?”
“About Iida, what do you like about him?” He asked, tilting his head.
“Why should I tell you anything?” He sneered, half-heartedly.
“Cuz I’m your best bro,” Kirishima grinned. Katsuki froze at that, peeking over his shoulder at him. Kirishima’s smile fell and he watched Katsuki carefully. “You know that right?”
Katsuki swallowed, turning back around. After a few moments of tense silence, he shrugged his shoulders. Kirishima, honestly… didn’t expect that. Maybe the quirk did a little more than just affect who he has feelings for. Or maybe, it let him feel a little bit more than usual. His thoughts went back to Midoriya:
“That’s why he doesn’t really have friends, or wants them I guess, he’s scared that he’ll get attached and they’ll throw him away again,”
“And you’re my best bro!” He said cheerfully.
“Tch, whatever,” Katsuki finally said, with an eye roll.
“Now tell me about Iida! I wanna know!” He said excitedly, pounding his fists on the counter.
“STOP IT YOU, IDIOT!” He roared, throwing an explosion in his face. Kirishima laughed, waving the dark smoke away from his head.
“He’s captured the heart of Lord Explosion Murder, we just wanna know what makes him so great!” Mina added in, leaning on the counter.
“You mean besides his smoking body?” Katsuki snorted, turning away from them.
“Smoking!?” Mina and Kaminari choked out with a laugh.
“I don’t know man, I don’t think that was ever in my mind when I thought of Iida,” Sero commented.
“Well, you also never had feelings for him, did you?”
“So, you only like him for his looks? How shallow of you Blasty!” Kaminari wailed dramatically, falling backwards.
“HEY! SHUT THE FUCK UP! OF COURSE NOT!” He barked, slamming his hand on the counter.
“Then get to the good stuff!” Mina exclaimed excitedly, “I want to hear what about him makes you swoon, cuz I don’t see it,”
“Fucking annoying pests,” he muttered, he thought for a moment before he turned toward them.
“I don’t really know how to explain it, he’s always just there. He wasn’t afraid of me the first time that he saw me, he didn’t even think about talking to me; even if it was just to tell me to get my fucking feet off the desk. It was never like that at any other school I went to; maybe it’s not something to be happy about for you guys, but it was pretty special for me,” he admitted, his head hanging. “And he’s not afraid to fight for the things he believes in and even though he’s a rule follower, he doesn’t hesitate to break them if he needs to,”
“I don’t know what it is… he makes me so happy that my stomach hurts,” he stated with a sigh, his shirt squeezed in his fist.
“You should get that checked out,” Kirishima snorted, dodging a spoon the blonde flung at him.
“I’m serious idiot,” he growled.
“Oh, don’t worry I can tell and Mina and Kaminari are crying, so…”
“WHAT THE FUCK!? WHY ARE YOU LOSERS CRYING!?” He demanded.
“It’s just so sweet!”
“It’s not fair!”
“Jesus Christ,” Katsuki muttered, wiping his hand down his face.
Unbeknownst to the BakuSquad™ on the other side of the campus, Tenya was getting interrogated as well. However, Tenya was having a much easier time.
“Oh thats easy, there are many things I love about Katsuki,”
“Tell me, tell me, tell me,” Uraraka chanted excitedly.
“Ahh, you don’t have to tell us if you don’t want to though,” Midoriya cut in quickly, holding Uraraka back.
“Yes he does,” Todoroki countered cooly, watching Tenya.
“I’ll gladly share with you, but I must insist that we finish our workout first,” he decided. Uraraka groaned loudly but started on her reps. Todoroki narrowed his eyes in disappointment as well, but nodded his head.
“You got it Iida!” Midoriya chirped, happily. Tenya nodded going through his own routine, working until Midoriya’s timer went off. They stopped at the vending machine before they left to get drinks.
“I wanna hear about Bakugou now,” Uraraka demanded on their way back to the dorms.
“Right, of course,” he conceded, thinking for a moment, “Katsuki by far, is one of the most driven people I’ve ever met. Not many people could go through the things that Katsuki has and still want to be a hero; especially with how people view him. So many people would say that they’re right and just give up or become a villain. I admire him highly for his decision to keep going and love him for never giving up,”
“He may be aggressive and harsh sometimes but that’s just who he is. If you took that away, it’s not him and it took me awhile to understand that every hero doesn’t have to be the same. Katsuki’s going to make a fantastic hero one day and I hope that I’ll be standing beside him when he does,”
Quite frankly, his friends were in shock. When they heard that, it was hard to believe that a quirk was responsible for it.
“Also he has a fantastic waist,” he sighed, almost wistfully.
Todoroki and Midoriya both choked on their water but at least Uraraka burst out laughing.
By the time they walked back into the dorms, both Uraraka and Tenya were laughing, some at what he said but mostly at Todoroki and Midoriya’s reactions. The three of them walked over to their classmates on the couches and floor, with Uraraka trying to tell them why she was laughing so hard.
Tenya on the other hand could see the blonde still working in the kitchen. He smiled, wrapping his arms around Katsuki’s waist and leaning over his shoulder to peck him on the cheek.
“Hey ,Darling,”
“Hey, good workout?” He grunted, returning the kiss.
“Yes, I also almost made Todoroki and Midoriya pass out by accident,”
“A man after my heart,” he purred sarcastically.
Tenya snorted, “What are you cooking?”
“Stuff for movie night, these idiots could burn fucking water,” he nodded towards his friends who still were leaning on the counter watching them with wide eyes and smiles.
“So true,” Mina agreed, her eyes practically sparkling.
“You guys are being really fucking weird, why’re you just fucking staring at us?” He asked, his brows furrowed in annoyance.
“I just love, love,” Kaminari gushed, Mina and Kirishima nodded beside him.
“Why don’t you go hang out with Elbows or something?” He implored, narrowing his eyes.
“Alright, guys, let's leave the lovebirds alone,” Kirishima snickered, walking away to the couches, Mina and Kaminari trailing behind him.
“Thank god, they would not shut up before you got back,” Katsuki complained, leaning back against Tenya. “Wanted to know why I loved you and shit, it was so fucking annoying,”
“Really? Midoriya, Uraraka, and Todoroki were also interested in my feelings for you,”
“Hah!? Shitty Deku wanted to know about me!? What the fuck!?” Katsuki growled, “It’s none of their god damn business,”
“Well, they are our friends,” Tenya corrected softly.
“Tch, whatever. I snatched the chaise for us tonight, by the way,” he commented, gesturing to the oversized chair. It was already piled with Katsuki’s All-Might blankets and Best Jeanist pillow (which he insisted was pushed onto him by his mentor, thank you very much).
“Oh…” Tenya trailed off, staring at it.
“What?” Katsuki demanded, looking over his shoulder at the teen.
“Umm, I was just going to study instead of partaking this time,” Tenya admitted moving away from Katsuki, rubbing the back of his neck nervously.
“Not this time Pumpkin,” Katsuki declared, turning with his hand resting on his hip. “You could stand to chill out every once in a while, at least for a night,”
“I don’t know Sugar, I never deviate from my routine,” he tried. Katsuki’s eyes softened and he reached up to smooth his hand down Tenya’s cheek.
“You’re number two in the class baby, if anyone deserves a break from studying it’s you, if something does happen, I’ll be here to help get things back on track” he soothed, grabbing Tenya’s hands and putting them around his waist. “Besides, if I have to stay, you do too,”
Tenya, sighed dramatically, flopping into Katsuki’s arms. “If I must,”
“I still have to finish cooking and stuff too, so if you want to study until everything is ready, you can,” he suggested. “It’ll probably make you feel better,”
“Yes, I believe it would, thank you Duck,” he squeezed Katsuki tightly, rubbing his face into his hair before heading upstairs.
“Hmph, dork,” Katsuki huffed fondly, turning his attention back to his cooking.
When everyone else started emerging from their dorms with their pillows and blankets, Katsuki headed up to the third floor and opened Tenya’s door.
“Knock knock babe,” He greeted with a grin.
“Already?” He asked. He held his arm open and gave Katsuki a hug as he sat at his desk. Katsuki looked over his work as he held his waist.
“Yeah, come on,”
“Okay, I just need to get dressed,” Tenya told him, getting up from his chair.
“What? Why?” He asked, looking him over. He was in a dark navy t-shirt and black sweatpants. Something totally acceptable to wear to an in dorm movie night with their friends.
“Well, I have to look proper,”
Katsuki raised a brow, looking down at his own outfit; his usual black tank top and pants.
“You saying I don’t look proper?” Tenya blinked looking back at him. His face immediately went red.
“No no, of course not, i-it’s just that I have a duty t-to not look sloppy at all times,”
“Sloppy!?” Inside Katsuki was laughing, seeing his boyfriend try to explain himself.
“Did I say sloppy? I meant… relaxed and… stylish!” He tried with a tense smile.
“Glad you think so, we’re good to go then,” Katsuki laughed, scooping up Tenya’s Ingenium blanket and throwing it over his shoulder. “Grab a pillow if you want, but I have a few downstairs we can share,” He headed towards the door, looking over his shoulder when he didn’t hear Tenya following him.
“Honey, I love you to the ends of the Earth, but if you try to put those slacks on, I will end you,” he said quietly, his eyes boring into Tenya’s. For a second, Tenya looked between the jeans in his hands and Katsuki before he huffed and laid them on the bed.
“Alright, let’s go,” he sighed. Katsuki brightened up, linking his arm with Tenya’s.
“Don’t look so down, you’re gonna feel so much more comfortable,” Katsuki tried, giving him a blinding smile.
“I just don’t want our classmates to think differently of me,” he admitted.
“Why not?”
“I’m the class president, I should stand tall and show everyone what a true hero should act and dress like in the company of others, respectfully and seriously,”
“Yeah, but sometimes you’re a bit too serious, don’t you think?” Katsuki asked. “As far as I can tell, everyone still thinks you have a stick shoved up your ass,”
“Katsuki!” Tenya gasped scandalized as they walked into the elevator.
“I’m serious babe, just relax for a little while, spend some time with us, as much as it makes me want to gag every time I have to sit through a movie night… I think it’d be better if you were there,” He said, thoughtfully, “These aren’t reporters or our teachers, these are our classmates, we’re all the same age, we’re not trying to impress anyone,”
“Well, maybe I’m trying to impress you,” Tenya sniffed.
“Sorry stud, khakis don’t really do it for me,” Katsuki hummed with a smile.
“Uncultured,”
“Anyway, I’m sure everyone’ll be happy that you came and surprised you’re not in your uniform or a polo shirt,”
“Oh come on Katsuki, it’s not that bad,” he argued, leading the blonde out of the elevator.
“We’ll see,” he teased, following, “I saved some drinks for us in the fridge, here, get comfortable,” Katsuki said, handing over his blanket and heading over to the fridge as they passed the kitchen.
“Right,”
It was weird how nervous he was to join his classmates. He spent pretty much everyday with them and got along fine with them, but somehow it felt a little different. Besides, Katsuki would be joining him soon anyway. As he got closer to the loud group, he noticed Todoroki looking longingly at the chaise that Katsuki already claimed. He glanced around before he silently got up and headed towards it.
He snorted in amusement and walked forward, “I wouldn’t even think about it Todoroki, sorry,” Tenya spoke up, startling the teen.
“Iida, you came!” Midoriya cheered in surprise.
“What made you change your mind?” Uraraka asked curiously.
“I think you mean, who changed his mind Round Face,” Katsuki said sarcastically, holding an orange juice out to Tenya.
“Of course Bakugou!” Uraraka laughed.
“Wow, looking good Iida,” Mina whistled suddenly.
“BACK THE FUCK OFF PINKY!” Katsuki roared as the pink girl giggled. Tenya’s face went red as he looked down at his clothes.
“It’s just sweatpants and a t-shirt,” he mumbled in confusion.
“Yes! The tuxedo of our generation,” Kaminari declared.
“Okay, you guys are making way more of a big deal of this then I thought you would,” Katsuki commented.
“C’mon, let me overreact, he only wears like three different outfits,” Kaminari begged, alongside Mina’s pleas.
“Weren’t we gonna watch a fucking movie?”
“Haahhh, fine,” Kaminari relented, letting them past to get to the chaise. “But you’re our deciding vote, so animation or action?”
“Animation,”
“What!?”
“Told you!” Kirishima cheered from his pile of blankets.
“You betrayed me,” Kaminari deadpanned, looking up at Katsuki as he yote a 500 yen piece at Kirishima.
“You’re damn right I did,” he smirked, backing away from the electricity user. He turned toward the chaise and let out a little laugh.
“Well, aren’t you a comfortable motherfucker,” he quipped. Tenya was sprawled out on the chaise already buried in blankets. Tenya hummed, lifting the blankets up for Katsuki to crawl in beside him. Tenya laid back on the chaise, Katsuki cuddled up close to his chest with his head resting on his shoulder. They shuffled around slightly trying to get comfortable, eventually, Tenya wrapped his arm around Katsuki’s waist and they settled in.
All in all, it was a great night. Everyone shouted out loud commentary to the movie, laughing and joking as the plot progressed. Despite the volume of their classmates, half-way through the movie, Katsuki fell asleep. He snored quietly against Tenya’s chest, his hand gripping Tenya’s.
The common room cleared out pretty quickly when the credits started rolling and soon it was just him and Katsuki.
“Alright, lets go,” he said, dragging Katsuki up from the chaise. Katsuki sniffed loudly, blearily opening his eyes. Tenya wrapped his arm around him again as Katsuki grabbed his shirt and they shuffled to the elevators.
“Did you have a good time?” Katsuki asked with a yawn.
“I really did, it was nice to relax for an evening,” he admitted happily, leading him out the doors onto the fourth floor.
“Why’d you go past your floor?”
“I thought I’d walk you back to your room,”
“Aren’t you just a fucking gentleman,”
“I try to be,” he smiled opening the door for him, “I’ll see you in the morning Darling,”
“Night Munchkin,” he cooed, tugging Tenya down into a kiss. “I love you,”
“I love you too,”

Pet Names (Part 1)
Quirk: Infatuation - The user of this quirk affects two people by touching them at the same time, they then fall into a state of infatuation with each other; they could be affected by this for up to a week.
Iida and Bakugou get affected by an infatuation quirk that makes them be sweet to each other. So sweet, that it could give you cavities. Warning: This story will contain an excessive amount of pet names, hence the title.
Hope everyone enjoys! 🧡💙
It was a wonder why the school let random people into the school grounds for the hero class to train against. At times it seemed like they did no background checks on anyone. In this particular exercise, Iida, Bakugou, Midoriya, and Kirishima chased a single villain through a section of the training grounds. They were focused on quirk identification specifically, and how valuable it was in determining the outcome of a fight. They weren’t told what quirk their villain possessed and their only objective was to bring them down.
So far their villain hadn’t shown signs of any sort of quirk, except that she was extremely agile. She jumped over the rooftops of buildings with ease and escaped their sights on more than one occasion.
Finally, Iida and Bakugou caught sight of her, casually standing in the street as if she was waiting for them. They both charged her at once, jumping towards her. The “villain” smirked, holding a hand out towards both of them. Just before they hit, she slammed her hands into their chests and slunk back into the dark alley. Bakugou and Iida were flung back and crumpled to the ground.
After a minute Iida sat up with a groan, holding his head.
“Iida, are you okay?” Midoriya called, rushing over to help him up.
“Yes, I believe so Midoriya,” he replied, making Midoriya sigh in relief.
“What about you Bakubro?” Kirishima asked, yanking the blonde to his feet. He wobbled a bit, pressing his hand to his face with a grimace.
“Shut up Shitty Hair, I’m fine,” he growled, clenching his eyes shut.
“Are you sure, Sugar?” Iida said, turning towards Bakugou.
“Sugar?” Kirishima and Midoriya chorused in confusion.
“Course I’m sure Baby,” Bakugou grunted, stretching his arms above his head. Iida let out a huge sigh of relief, rushing over to wrap an arm around Bakugou’s waist. He smiled, leaning into Iida’s shoulder as he pressed a kiss to the crown of his head.
“BABY!?” The two shrieked turning towards each other.
“We need to get to Recovery Girl,” Midoriya deadpanned, watching them with wide eyes. They both blinked, turning to look at him.
“Oh my, did you get injured?” Iida asked in concern, pushing his glasses up. “You should have told us sooner,”
“Baby chill for a second,” Bakugou soothed, running his hand down his arm.
“I’m not injured but there’s something wrong,” Modoriya said quietly.
“Well spit it out stupid Deku,” Bakugou growled, ready to stalk forward but Iida held tight to his waist keeping him back. Bakugou glowered at him for a second before letting out a huff and pouting.
“All students return to the designated starting point,” Aizawa’s bored voice sounded out across the training grounds.
“Well that wasn’t very long,” Iida commented. With a shrug, the two of them started back towards the entrance. Behind them, Kirishima and Midoriya whispered to each other.
“What just happened?”
“I have no idea, it has to be that villain’s quirk right?”
“It has to be, unless they were secretly dating or something,”
“They couldn’t have been dating before, Kaachan wouldn’t date someone without proclaiming it to the world,”
“What? Really? I thought he’d be more of a ‘‘I don’t want those idiots to bother me about it’’ kinda guy,”
“Not really, he wants everyone to know where his relationships stand, he was like that with his relationships in middle school,”
“He dated in middle school!?”
“Yeah, but never for very long,” Midoriya looked sad for a second, “He was very proud of them but every time they broke up with him because he was too clingy with them,”
“Bakugou, clingy?”
“You know... That’s why he doesn’t really have friends or wants them I guess, he’s scared that he’ll get attached and they’ll throw him away again,”
“Man..”
“Yeah,”
“Oi! What are you fuck munches whispering about back there?”
“Ah! Nothing Kaachan!”
Bakugou growled but turned his attention back to Iida. The look on his face was nothing but pure adoration as Iida spoke quietly to him. It only took a short while for them to get back to the entrance where the rest of the class was waiting, already turned toward Aizawa.
“For the rest of this class, we’re going to go over your battles and strategies you utilized to identify these villain’s quirks,” Aizawa droned as they joined the group.
“Sensei, something’s wrong with Iida and Kaachan,” Midoriya said quietly, raising his hand.
“HUH!? WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!?” Bakugou bellowed, head snapping to face him. Aizawa rubbed the bridge of his nose tiredly.
“What makes you think that Midoriya?” He asked with a dead stare.
“After one of those fake villains hit them they started acting weird,” He replied, looking cautiously over at Bakugou.
“WEIRD!?”
“Sorry bro, but you really are acting weird; even for you,” Kirishima stepped in with a grin.
“WHAT’S THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN!?” He snarled, turning his attention to Kirishima.
“Yeah really, he seems exactly the same to me,” Kaminari commented. There were sounds of agreement from around the class.
“I have to agree with Katsuki, I don’t see what’s so abnormal about our behaviour,” Iida slid in beside them.
“There’s dust all over your glasses idiot,” Bakugou commented, looking up at him with a smirk.
“Could you clean them for me, Sugar?” He asked, taking his glasses off and handing them over to the blonde. Bakugou tsked but took them and dusted them off.
“Wait did you just call him sugar?” Uraraka asked, pointing to Bakugou.
“That’s what I mean, they’re acting all… lovey dovey!” Midoriya exclaimed flustered.
“Of course were lovey dovey, he’s my man! If you don’t like it you can fuck off!” Bakugou sneered, looking down his nose at them as he wrapped his arms around one of Iida’s.
“I think I understand now Midoriya, you two come with me,” he said gesturing to the couple before turning to head back into the school. Bakugou tsked but following dutifully behind his teacher. After a few steps, he looked over his shoulder and held out his hand to Iida, who happily took it.
The class watched the three of them leave, stunned into silence.
“What are we supposed to do now?”
Their little period of freedom lasted only about ten minutes before Present Mic approached them and brought them back to the classroom, still in their hero uniforms. It wasn’t long before Aizawa came in.
“As the situation stands, there is nothing to do about Iida and Bakugou. The person responsible has a simple infatuation quirk which will wear off in about four days to a week, at the moment there doesn’t seem like there will be any ramifications so the school has decided to just let the quirk effects run its course,” he informed them.
“So we’re just supposed to let them think that they’re in love?” Mina asked, her hand shooting into the air.
“By all means, do whatever you want, I’m just letting you know what we know about what happened to them,” Aizawa sighed, “You’re dismissed,”
“So… what do you think we should do?” Kirishima asked as they sat in the common room, waiting for the couple to come back.
“What d’you mean?” Ashido asked.
“Well, should we tell them about it? Or do you think that Recovery Girl told them?” He clarified, scratching the back of his neck.
“I say let it run its course, maybe Blasty would relax a bit if he’s attached to the class prez all day,” Kaminari grinned, relaxing against the back of the couch.
“Don’t you think they’ll be mad when the quirk wears off?” Midoriya hummed, cocking his head to the side.
“Bakugou will probably be embarrassed but Iida will probably just apologize for the inconvenience,” Uraraka commented, “I think it’ll be fun to see how different they are,”
“Everyone in agreement?!” Kaminari yelled in excitement. A chorus of cheers erupted from the class, a little less enthusiasm came from Midoriya but he still lifted his fist in the air.
“Besides, this class needs a little more romance,” Ashido grinned, nudging Midoriya cheekily in the side.
“Wha’dya mean a little more romance? We got more than enough here,” Bakugou’s gruff voice stated almost proudly. The class turned and they saw the two of them trudge into the common room.
“Ayy, just the couple we wanted to see,” Sero cheered. Bakugou tsked, shoving his hands in his pockets.
“Us? What did you need us for?” Iida asked, perking up at attention.
“We just had some questions for you guys,” Kaminari said, smirking at them.
“Ew, why are you acting so sus?” Bakugou sneered, stepping in front of Iida protectively. Kaminari yelped in offence, grabbing his chest dramatically.
“I should have never taught you that word,”
“Your mistake,”
Suddenly, Midoriya’s alarm went off, startling the group.
“What’s that?” Kaminari asked as Midoriya fumbled to turn it off.
“It’s just my alarm to go workout,” he glanced over at his ‘squad’, “Are you guys ready to go?”
Uraraka and Todoroki both nodded, “All my clothes are in the locker room, I can get it on the way to the gym,”
“Alright, let's get going then, we don’t want to waste our reservation there,”
“Okay, I’ll see you later Duck,” Iida said, turning to Bakugou and pecking him on the lips.
“Mmm, bye Munchkin,” he hugged Iida tightly. Their classmate almost instantly averted their eyes. Not because they were grossed out or anything but it was just so weird. The group of four walked out, Bakugou watching Iida’s back until they were out of sight. He sighed slightly, a fond grin on his lips.

There are a lot of things that I like about Bakugou. #1 I think is his dedication to becoming a hero. He’s trying to change for the better and become more of what people expect in a hero, while still staying true to his personality. He’s coming to terms with how he acted in the past and realizing that he was wrong and I appreciate that in a character.
As to who I ship him with:
THIS BITCH
There is not enough BakuIida content and I am sad about it. I also ship him with Kirishima, Todoroki, and pretty much everyone else but BakuIida is my absolute favourite.

Five Times Masaru Hugged his Son and One Time Katsuki Hugged Him
1. When Katsuki was born
There were times when Masaru didn’t think he would ever be a father. He was too meek at the idea of relationships, but when he met Mitsuki, he was swept off his feet by her. It felt like no time had passed before they were married and expecting.
They thought they had everything planned down to a T but as they came to realize, Katsuki was unpredictable and Mitsuki ended up going into labour early while Masaru was on a business trip and if he knew his wife at all, she probably ignored it until she physically couldn’t anymore (he found out later that it was true).
He booked the first flight he could home and rushed to the hospital. He was sweating and out of breath by the time he got to the recovery room. He hesitated outside for a second, nervousness finally creeping into his stomach. He was about to be a father, well he was already a father but he was going to meet his baby for the first time. He took a deep breath and peeked into the room.
He always told Mitsuki how beautiful she was, but nothing before could have compared to this. She was sitting up in the hospital bed, gently rocking the bundle in her arms.
“Well? What are you waiting for!? Come meet your son,” Mitsuki barked, startling him out of his thoughts. He huffed out a laugh and hurried over, peering at the squirming boy in her arms. It almost took his breath away again to see him.
“Oi! Why are you crying!?”
Huh, he didn’t even know he was crying.
“I’m just happy,” he admitted with a soft smile, wiping his cheeks. “He looks just like you,” he cooed, tickling Katsuki’s cheek.
“Hey!”
“Can I hold him?”
Mitsuki blinked, before scoffing and holding the bundle out to him, “Hah? Of course, you can, he’s your son too!”
He chuckled, carefully cradling his child to his chest. He was so tiny, smaller than he ever thought possible. With that thought came the fear he’d been holding back since they found out they were pregnant. What if he wasn’t strong enough to protect him. Mitsuki was always the tough one that went out of her way to protect him.
Yes, he’s scared, but that doesn’t mean that he won’t try to protect him.
“I’ll always be here for you Katsuki,” he whispered.
2. When he had a nightmare
Masaru had always been a light sleeper, which he came to discover helped a lot when he became a father. His eyes would snap open when Katsuki cried and he was in there before Mitsuki a lot of the time. But he was a toddler now and the times he had to actually get up were dwindling.
At first, he didn’t know what woke him up but after a few moments, he zoned in on small sniffling sounds down the hall. He blearily blinked, turning his head to see the alarm clock blinking 2:45. He snuffled, rubbing his eyes and got up, careful not to wake up Mitsuki. He didn’t even grab his glasses before he headed toward Katsuki’s room.
He peeked his head in, the All-Might night light was bright enough to see Katsuki sitting up in his bed, wiping away tears on his cheeks. Masaru’s heart squeezed in his chest and he rushed over to scoop Katsuki into his arms.
“What’s wrong Kit-Kat?” He asked quietly, “Did you have a nightmare?”
Katsuki hesitated before he nodded his head.
“Do you want to tell me about it?”
Katsuki shook his head, pressing his face into Masaru’s shoulder and letting out a little sob. Masaru sighed, rubbing his back as he gently rocked. Soon enough he was snoring against his shoulder, wetting his t-shirt with drool. Masaru smiled gently, carefully laying him back into bed and tucking him in. He kissed him on the forehead and put his stuffed bunny in his arms.
It was around 3 before he got back into his own bed.
Comforting him after he gets his quirk and it really hurts him
One night they were relaxing in the living room; they were watching some drama they’ve been into lately and Katsuki was busy colouring on the coffee table. It was quiet and serene, something that didn’t really happen often in their household.
That was before the loud crack of an explosion. It wasn’t all that uncommon since Masaru could make those sounds but he usually only did it to entertain Katsuki or did it unconsciously. Mitsuki turned to him her mouth open ready to berate him.
Then Katsuki screamed.
It wasn’t a scream of anger like usual, it was a scream of pure pain. He shrieked and sobbed, dropping his crayons to the floor and curling over his knees to push his forehead into the floor.
“Katsuki!?” They both jumped up, rushing toward their fallen son.
“Katsuki, what’s wrong? Are you okay?”
“Come on brat! Talk to us!?” Mitsuki demanded.
“Id urtss,” Katsuki sobbed, shaking on the ground, mumbling into the floor.
“What?” Masaru asked gently, rubbing his back.
“IT HURTS!” He shrieked, whipping his head off the ground. His hands were blistered and bleeding.
“Oh my God!” Mitsuki gasped, leaping over the back of the couch. She ran into the bathroom, ripping open the cupboards and drawers until she found the first-aid kit.
“Come on Kit-Kat,” Masaru soothed, carefully picking up his son and sitting him on his lap. He didn’t know what else to do besides hold him and try not to cry himself. It didn’t help that he started sobbing again when Mitsuki disinfected his hands. You never want to hear your child cry in pain, especially one as tough as Katsuki.
“What a strong quirk Katsuki,” he praised as Mitsuki started wrapping his hands. Katsuki sniffed, turning his head to look at Masaru.
“R-really,” his voice warbled slightly in pain. Masaru smiled and nodded.
“You’ll be such a good hero,” he said honestly. “The best,”
3. After he and Mitsuki fight
One thing that he didn’t like about his family, was how much they fought. Katsuki and Mitsuki were too similar (not that they would admit it), so they clashed a lot. They fought over the littlest things and never wanted to be the one to apologize.
One day, the school contacted them for almost the tenth time in a couple of months to tell them that Katsuki had been part of another fight and one of them had to come and get him. Unfortunately, that time Mitsuki had to get him since he was overrun at his office. Which meant that the two would be on opposite sides of the house when he got back.
When he unlocked the door, Mitsuki was muttering angrily as she scrubbed the dishes violently. Yeah, he wasn’t touching that yet. Instead, he headed upstairs and knocked on Katsuki’s door.
“WHAT!?” He screamed through the door. Masaru sighed, it was one of those arguments. He peeked in the doorway and saw Katsuki fuming on his bed.
“Hey Kit-Kat,” he greeted cheerfully, sitting beside him.
“Don’t call me that,” he grumbled, picking at his uniform pants, which he now noticed were singed and scuffed up.
“Why did you start all of those fights?” He finally asked after a few minutes of tense silence. Katsuki tensed up beside him and peeked at him through his bangs.
“I didn’t…” he muttered hesitantly.
“What?”
“I DIDN’T START THOSE FIGHTS ALRIGHT!” He yelled, jumping up from his bed and pacing his room. “I TOLD THE HAG THAT TOO BUT SHE DIDN’T FUCKING BELIEVE ME!”
Masaru sighed, he’d have to talk to Mitsuki now too.
“Then explain to me what happened,” he suggested patting the space beside him. Katsuki narrowed his eyes before huffing in annoyance and sitting at his desk instead.
“They heard about my quirk and wanted me to prove how strong I was, I said no but then they said I was scared to fight them! I WASN’T SCARED OF THOSE FUCKERS!”
“Of course you weren’t,” Masaru agreed, putting his hand up before Katsuki could cut in again. “You’re the bravest, strongest boy I know, and you don’t need to get into fights to prove that, it’s just as much a victory to walk away sometimes,”
Katsuki stayed quiet, his eyes burning into the carpet.
“Alright, come here,” Masaru said finally, groaning as he stood up from the bed.
“Huh?”
“Bring it in,” he walked up to the chair and wrapped him in a hug. Katsuki growled, trying to shove him away, but he just tucked Katsuki’s head under his chin and snuggled closer.
“No!”
“I’ll be sad if you try to push me away again,” Masaru commented, smiling serenely when Katsuki sighed dramatically and let him hug him a little longer.
“Fine, you old man,”
4. After Katsuki was attacked by the sludge villain
It was all over the news, Katsuki’s near death experience with the sludge villain. He was at work when he found out, busy in his office until one of his co-workers dragged him to the break room. There was a crowd of people in there but he could clearly hear explosions and muffled cursing.
“What’s going on?” He asked.
“We think a villain has your kid,” one of them said, he couldn’t remember which one. Everything started tunnelling then as he stumbled towards the TV. He got close enough to see the spiky blonde hair sticking out of the sludge and let out a cry.
He had him. He could see him struggling, trying in vain to pull in a breath. He bolted out of the room, pulling out his cellphone to call Mitsuki. She picked up immediately and told him to meet her at home. The police had already contacted her and told her that he was fine and on his way home.
“Then the footage wasn’t live?” He asked tearfully.
“No, thank god. They said that he’s completely fine and he got out of there as soon as he could,”
He could have sobbed in relief and rushed home. He got in only a few minutes after Katsuki and walked in to see Mitsuki with tears in her eyes and yelling at their son.
“YOU SCARED US YOU DAMN BRAT!” Mitsuki cried, tugging at his cheeks as he growled at her. He closed the door behind him and slowly walked over to the two of them.
“AREN’T YOU GOING TO SAY ANYTH- Masaru?”
He sniffed, suddenly realizing that he was crying.
“Old man?” Katsuki asked hesitantly, reaching out to him.
“I was so worried about you,” He sobbed, wrapping him in a hug.
“Oi! I’m fine old man! See, my heart’s still beating fine, I’m barely even scratched up,” he grumbled, tucking his head under Masaru’s chin.
He was, wasn’t he. He was standing in front of him, speaking to him, perfectly fine. At least from what he could tell, but it was the first time that he really realized that his child could die. Especially knowing that he wanted to become the number one hero.
+1 After Kamino Ward
Nothing could have prepared him for the idea of losing his child. It was never supposed to happen to them, kidnapped happens to other people but not them. Never them. Even after the sludge villain incident, he never in a million years thought that he would be targeted again.
They didn’t sleep the entire time, nervously biting their nails or Mitsuki raging at the police or heroes that showed their faces at the house. He couldn’t blame her, he was just as torn up about his disappearance but it didn’t manifest as rage. Instead, he spent the majority of that time in tears, his eyes glued to the news station for any sort of sign from the heroes. Even a ransom note would be better than not knowing at all. At some point, the UA press conference was switched on and they were treated to a cocky reporter that seemed to do nothing except imply that their son would easily be swayed into the League of Villains.
He’d never felt rage as much as in that moment. How dare he. How dare he speak about his son like he was some junior villian in training. He didn’t know anything, he didn’t care about the fate of Katsuki or any of the children in 1-A. He was just there for the story for his own gain and he hated people like that.
It was after the conference that they got the news that Katsuki was safe and waiting for them at the police station. They didn’t change out of their t-shirts and sweatpants they’d been flaunting the past few days. They just wanted to see Katsuki.
When they got there, they had to fight through the security guards and verify their identity. In one way, he was glad that they were taking all necessary precautions to protect Katsuki and the other students that helped rescue him but at the same time, they just wanted to make sure that he was okay. Eventually, they did make it inside and they rushed through the station, heads turning to look in every direction to try and catch sight of him.
After a few moments of frantic searching, they finally saw him. He was sitting with his teacher, talking quietly. He looked so defeated and small with his shoulders slumped. Aizawa’s eyes flickered to them and he nudged Katsuki to look at them. His eye widened and he stood shakily like he couldn’t believe they were actually there, or maybe that he was there and safe. Masaru took a trembling breath in as he covered his mouth. He was safe. A little worse for wear, but he was in one piece.
Mitsuki ran forward, completely ignoring Aizawa to wrap her arms around Katsuki and hold him tight to her chest. She was cursing at him as she cried, telling him how worried they were and that he’d better not get captured ever again. Masaru could barely hold himself together as he walked over. Mitsuki pulled back, cupping Katsuki’s face and kissing him on the forehead.
When Katsuki’s eyes met his, he sniffed and gave him a relieved smile. He didn’t expect his face to crumple into tears.
“Dad,” he whimpered, clutching onto his shirt. He didn’t hesitate to hug him, shushing him as he cried into his chest.
“I’m so glad your safe,” he said softly, rubbing his back. “Are you okay?”
Katsuki nodded silently against him.
There was going to be a long period of healing. People don’t just bounce back from things like this and knowing Katsuki, he’s probably going to hide anything he saw as weak. He’d have to keep his eye on him, make sure that he realized that Masaru was there to help him.
That’s what dads are for after all.
