Just a quick note from your friendly neighborhood bookworm/indie author
if you use kindle for the majority of your library, they will be shutting down the function that allows you to download your files and transfer them via USB on the 26th of February. Which doesn't sound like a huge deal, but this also means that if a book is taken off Amazon for any reason—like it being banned—they can scrape it off your kindle as well. So maybe backup your library?

Afterglow by Emily Antoinette
A Spicy Sapphic Monster Romance
Tumblr media
Blurb:
A woman rediscovering herself…
After my husband left, all I wanted was to find myself again. Turns out that’s a lot easier said than done when my chronic pain has me canceling plans and everything I try reminds me of my inadequacies.
Things only get worse when my attempt at exploring submission is a total disaster. But hope comes in the form of my stoic, stunning vampire friend, Blair. She offers to teach me, giving me a space to safely explore a side of myself I’ve kept locked away.
It’s meant to be platonic. Just one friend helping another. So then why can’t I stop imagining what it would be like to take things further?A vampire losing control…
I’ve spent the past ten years building a life where I’m in control. I swore I’d never go back to being the pathetic, emotional girl I was before I was turned.
Then Grace showed up.
I knew from the moment we met she’d be a problem. My monster craves her in a way that terrifies me, and her humor and beauty pierce through the cracks in my carefully crafted, cold facade. Yet keeping my distance would ruin one of the few friendships I have.
How do I shore up the crumbling barriers around my heart before I end up more broken and alone than I was the night I became a vampire?
Afterglow is a spicy, slow burn sapphic romance featuring a jaded, lonely vampire FMC and a bubbly, anxious human FMC. Afterglow is Book 2 in the Monsters of Moonvale series, however, it can be read as a standalone. Review: Okay, so I love Emily Antoinette. I've read a few other books by her and I have adored every single one. These are, I would argue, a sort of cozy romance because it gives me all the warm fuzzies. Also, you don't necessarily have "life threatening" conflicts to drive the story. Some of them, yes, but not all of them and Afterglow is absolute a primarily character driven plot. Grace is painfully relatable, to the point where I had to stop and have a serious talk with my reflection a time or two through out the novel. She struggles severely with self doubt and self love, and has clearly struggled hard with mental abuse that has left scars. I also love the role that BDSM plays in the story, especially as someone who often struggles with their own personal control issues- Seeing it translate in to intimate relationships was rather cathartic. And validating. All in all, I adored this novel and would absolutely recommend it to anyone who might be after something sweet, spicy, and full of sapphic love.

to those of you who are moving here from tiktok, from someone whos used both tiktok and tumbr for years...
1. DO NOT censor your posts
dont censor sex, abuse, suicide, dont censor it. we dont have censors like tiktok does, you wont be banned for talking about these things and tagging them properly helps people avoid them (also, we dont have shadowbanning here)
2. we dont really have an algorithm
you follow who you follow, and you see posts from who you follow or what you search. the 'for you page' is basically useless here. this also brings me to my next two points
3. dont crosstag
we get it, on tiktok you have to crosstag for reach, but thats not really a thing here. just tag your posts properly (also posters often leave more info about the post in the tags!! and when you reblog stuff you can leave your own notes in the tags, kind of like the old "repost comments" on tiktok)
4. dont expect to go viral/be famous
"viral" isnt really a thing on here (at least not for the average blogger). your posts will probably get 2-10 likes and you wont get nearly as many followers than on tiktok. thats just how tumblr is
5. blocking is your best friend
tiktok is VERY discussion based, and while tumblr is much more discussion based than other social medias, its still not a good place for ragebait/discourse. dont interact, itll make your experience worse in the end, just block and move on
6. you cant go into someone elses house and start rearranging their furniture
this is tumblr, not tiktok. dont diss old tumblr users for how they use the site or try to change them, thats like going into someone elses house and trying to rearrange their furniture. we've been here longer and we're familiar with the site and its culture, either find your niche, adapt, or find a different app

the fact that i'm no longer the same age as the protagonists of novels and films i once connected to is so heartbreaking. there was a time when I looked forward to turning their age. i did. and i also outgrew them. i continue to age, but they don't; never will. the immortality of fiction is beautiful, but cruel.

i hope that in 2025 u get to take more walks, read more books, connect with more people whom u love and who love u, achieve ur goals (even if ur goals are having no goals and just living in the moment), exercise fun hobbies, move from a place of self-direction, and weave together a beguiling assortment of beautiful little moments. remember that no feeling lasts forever. love u

Cue Obligatory Introductionary Post
Tumblr media
Hi. It me. My name is Danielle but I go by Dani or Dee, or whatever really. I'm a 34 year old reader who, regretfully, hails from Texas, and is slowly growing my business as a PA for Authors. Pronouns she/her. I'm not great at the whole social media thing- I tend to think there is no one out there that would give two shits about the rambly shit going on in my head but I'm working on that. I have a discord book club, if anyone is interested. Its more geared towards romance, but we welcome *all* genres. I have three cats, two of which are kittens, and two children that keep me on my toes constantly. My only goal for 2025 is to survive and *hopefully* make my first loaf of bread. I prefer Storygraph over goodreads, because it has **graphs** and it makes my little heart so happy. Uh... This post is dryer than overcooked turkey the day after Thanksgiving, but I'm going to blame that on my innate awkwardness. I would love to be friends. <3

I finished this book earlier today and I have to say, I adored it.
First thing, it's a romance so it's hella spicy, but also there is some mental illness rep for OCD (which the author has) and she is also a practicing witch, which I just found super freaking cool.
With everything going on in the world, I've been craving literary escapes so hard and this one absolutely helped me forget for a while. This is an author I plan on reading more of in the future.
Gonna try to do a more in depth review on it later but this was absolutely a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4 Star) reading for me.
