As an instructor at INOVTECH STEM CENTER @inovtechsc , I believe that early childhood education lays the foundation for lifelong learning. That's why I'm passionate about incorporating STEM concepts into the classroom, even at the earliest ages. Here are some best practices for incorporating STEM in early childhood education: Use play-based learning: Play is an essential part of early childhood development, and it's also a great way to introduce STEM concepts. Encourage children to explore scientific concepts through hands-on activities and experiments, such as building with blocks or experimenting with water and sand. Focus on real-world problem-solving: Young children are natural problem-solvers, and they love to figure things out. Incorporate STEM concepts into real-world problems, such as figuring out how to build a bridge or solve a puzzle. Incorporate sensory experiences: Young children learn through their senses, so incorporating sensory experiences into STEM activities can be very effective. For example, use smell, taste, and touch to explore the properties of different materials or substances. Emphasize teamwork and collaboration: STEM concepts are often best learned in teams, so encourage children to work together on projects and activities. This can help build social skills and a sense of community in the classroom. By incorporating these best practices into early childhood education, we can help children develop a love of learning and a strong foundation in STEM concepts. INOVTECH STEM CENTER @inovtechsc has partnered with MSmiles Foundation @msmilesfoundation , a student association at Ashesi University @ashesi to provide students with training in STEM through Robotics. The collaboration aims to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge in STEM through hands-on experience with robotics. Once the students have completed their training, they will use their newfound knowledge to volunteer and train children at local orphanages. This initiative is not only beneficial for the students as it will help them to further their STEM education but it also provides an opportunity for underprivileged children to learn and experience STEM in a fun and engaging way. The integration of STEM education with robotics will help to foster a passion for STEM in both the students and the children they will be training, providing them with a solid foundation for future opportunities in STEM fields. INOVTECH STEM CENTER is proud to be a part of this initiative and is confident that this partnership will have a lasting impact on the students and the children they will be training. Don't underestimate the importance of a quick win. Robotics has a reputation as a difficult subject. So you need to hook your students quickly. Here's what NOT to do: Have the first activity as a long building session. Explain everything before they start. Have the same activity for everyone. Do this instead: Have your robotics kit pre built. Set up a first activity that can be programmed within 5 minutes, but expanded on for upto 30 mins. Just explain enough to get started, let them figure out or ask for more info. Stop excluding the disengaged students. Did you know? Approximately 57 % of the Ghana's total land area is classified as an "agricultural land area". This means we can grow our own crops, feed the entire population and still have enough to export. But how do we encourage the young ones (especially those in farming communities) to venture into “traditional “ farming business. INOVTECH STEM CENTER @inovtechsc partnered OAFGOC @owusu_achia_fred to introduce over 200 students this week to introduce students in Nsawam Adoagyiri community to the the future of farming with Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IOT) and Robotics. Students were trained to use these technologies to automate their mini farms. The future is exciting! Thanks to Julia Asenso for supporting us with the Arduino kits.
