Thank you so much for the request! I kinda fell for these two when you asked haha. I'm sorry it took a while, but I do hope you like it 💙
Ao3 link if you'd rather read it there
Another dark evening was falling over Ghost City. Bright lamps bobbed along the entrances to shops, and the sounds of chatter filled the air. Among this sea of ghosts was a newcomer. He'd died recently and appeared to be a tad overwhelmed but intrigued by the commotion.
"Hello, there, Handsome!"
The short ghost stopped in his tracks and looked over his shoulder. A woman he didn't know was there, looking directly at him.
"Yes, you!" The lady waved in an elegant manner, her loose sleeve swaying along her delicate wrist. She took a few steps towards him on the street. "How would you like to make your night... a bit more fun, huh?"
The male ghost was puzzled. He took in this woman's unusual appearance. The closer she got, the more clear her face became. She wore heavy makeup, so heavy that it looked nearly caked on. That, along with her more revealing outfit, caused his nose to crinkle.
She made it to his side and pulled a sultry expression. "I haven't seen you before. We could get to know each other." She smiled slightly and placed a hand on his shoulder.
The ghost grimaced and shook off her hand, "I don't think so."
"Ah!" Offended, she placed her hands on her hips. "Ah, so you're above me? Is that what you're saying?"
The ghost shrugged and turned to leave.
"Hey!" She yelled loudly. "I'll have you know that you're missing out on the best lady in all of Ghost City!"
"Bwahahaha!"
Startled, Jian Lan spun around. The small ghost took the opportunity to scuttle away while she was distracted.
A new ghost had emerged, this time with a familiar arrogant smile and in lavish green robes. "Best, you say? More like, slim pickings, huh?"
Her face pinkened slightly. She huffed, "I'll have you know that I'm highly sought after around here."
Qi Rong laughed heartily once again, "I'll take your word for it. Although, seeing you having to flag down someone when it's so crowded isn't a good look."
She studied the green ghost up and down. He almost seemed out of place compared to the people around them in his clean attire. "What an honor to have such an esteemed visitor here..." She smirked while changing the subject. She placed her finger on the front of his outer robe. This caused him to jump slightly. She held back a snicker and dropped her voice into a more sultry tone once again, "What brings the Night-Touring Green Lantern to Ghost City, hm?"
Qi Rong side eyed her but didn't shove her away, "Shut it, I'm simply bored. Is there anything fun to do here?"
"Oh, I can think of a few things," she purred. Her slender fingers traced along his silky robe.
Qi Rong panicked and jumped back, "Don't touch me like that!"
Jian Lan bent over and broke out into laughter. She wiped her eye a bit with her sleeve.
The green ghost's face had turned red in embarrassment, "I should have known asking you wouldn't get me anywhere. This place and everyone in it is trash."
"Hah!" She cocked her head, "As though you're any better?"
"Of course I am!"
"Uh huh."
Qi Rong glared at her amused eyes for a moment, then broke away when she didn't falter. "I'll just find something on my own!" He turned around to walk off.
"The Gambler's Den is always open!"
He whipped back around and stormed over, "You mean with that horrid Crimson Rain?! I wouldn't even dream of giving that piece of shit my money!" He threw his arm out in the direction of the building, "That oaf has no taste in decor, either! And just look at that calligraphy! The man can't write worth shit! I swear, I don't see how a supposed ghost king-" He stopped when he heard Jian Lan laughing. "What?"
She was holding her stomach and finding it hard to breathe. She calmed herself. Her gray eyes met with his playfully, "So if gambling is off the table..."
Qi Rong folded his arms dramatically and turned his nose up, "I am not paying for-"
"How about dinner?"
"Huh?" His expression changed from annoyed to confused. He was still for a moment, as though seriously thinking it over. "Hmmm..." He finally looked back at the ghost before him, "I don't know if I could bring myself to dine with such a creature."
"I beg your pardon?!"
"Your makeup." He pointed and then waved his hand, "It's heinous. Far too heavy. I don't understand why you feel the need to reveal your body but cover your facial features so much."
Jian Lan was speechless for a moment. The way he'd worded that was a bit odd. Did... he mean she had a nice face without it? She turned around with a huff. "Well, fine! My night has been slow, and I was going to offer to cook for you, but-"
"Oh?!" Qi Rong ran up to her, "Wait, wait, wait."
She shook her head. "I knew you had no self-awareness, but telling a lady her makeup is bad is something you should never do. I'm surprised you're even interested. It won't be human."
"Well, obviously, but what will it be?" He seemed genuinely excited. "The food here is also shit. The place smells of-"
"It smells terrible, yes." She glared at him for a moment, then her face turned into a gentle smile. "What about some pork?"
A big smile came across his face.
Jian Lan quickly snatched the man's hand. He jolted with a silent gasp but was immediately pulled forward into the building. He could have sworn he heard her giggle from his reaction. 'Damn, lady. This better be some good food!'
The outside of the brothel was brightly lit with lanterns that hung above erotic art of beautiful women. But once they made it inside, Qi Rong hummed in appreciation. It was actually somewhat nice. It was almost like a hotel lobby, far less dirty than he assumed it'd be.
He suddenly felt the warmth from that hand rub his thumb affectionately. Startled, he looked at the slightly shorter woman in front of him.
She smiled sweetly at him in return before continuing to the check-in. Even after hundreds of years, Qi Rong still couldn't understand why people would choose to visit a brothel. There were certainly many things to indulge in rather than sleeping with some stranger. But seeing her smile made him melt a tad, strangely. He could maybe understand why someone that visited them may decide on her...
Qi Rong bit his tongue. It was a tad too hard, though, and he grunted softly.
She turned her head quickly, "Hm? Everything okay?"
He cleared his throat and nodded awkwardly.
She nodded back and resumed with the man running the desk.
Qi Rong attempted to distract himself by looking at the various plants placed with care in the room, but he couldn't help but eavesdrop.
"So..." The man drew out his voice in a skeptical manner. He pointed at the green ghost, "You're taking HIM as a client, but-" He directed his finger back at her, "YOU'RE not charging him your part? He's just paying for... the house's cut?"
The hand that had been embracing his own parted, and she leaned over the desk slightly. She spoke softly. It was so soft that Qi Rong couldn't hear, but he could tell it sounded... devious? Flirtatious? He wasn't sure. The man then sat up straight.
"Oh!" His bored expression had cracked into excitement before quickly settling back. "I see... well," he met with his eyes, "how long are you spending with our Jian Lan?"
"Um..."
"Three hours."
The man and Qi Rong were both taken aback, but the worker quickly brought it in. "Alright." He gracefully waved his hand and bowed slightly. "Enjoy your stay, Sir."
They started their way down the brightly lit hallway. Several doors were lined on either side of the beautiful wooden walls. Qi Rong side eyed his partner. "What the hell are we going to do for three hours? Are you preparing a feast?"
She giggled, "Of course not. I'm not preparing anything."
"What?!" He stopped in his tracks and spat, "You tricked me! I should have known. You're just a tired, old, desperate who wanted someone's company SO BADLY that you'd-"
"Hah!" Jian Lan poked his chest, "If you think for a moment that I'm that down bad for 'entertainment,' then you'd be wrong. Plenty of men want me. Besides..." She crossed her arms and closed her eyes, "the house provides meals for guests if requested, and they have an excellent chef. He will make you the pork to perfection." She opened the door next to them and bowed.
"Hmph." Qi Rong cautiously entered and was a tad surprised. Sure, the expected over-sized bed was present, but it looked more like... a small hotel room with basic amenities. Apart from a place to engage in sexual acts, there was a side washroom and a small kitchen area complete with drinks, fruits, and a small dining table.
"Is it to your liking?"
He shrugged, "While I admit it's not as grotesque as I expected, it's far from luxurious."
She smiled up at him warmly and spoke softly, "Is it perhaps... bearable for a wrath?"
For some reason, this made his insides flip. His green eyes blinked in surprise, and he averted his sight. His voice wavered slightly, "It-It's uh... serviceable." She simply stared up at him with that same sweet smile, which began to make him feel a bit uneasy. He cleared his throat. "So, uh...Why exactly did... you, uh-"
"Invite you in for basically free, and have you spend multiple hours with me?"
"Yes."
She sauntered past him to the small table for two and sat. She directed across from her. "Sit with me."
"Hm." He joined her in a heavy plop and crossed his arms. "So?"
She leaned forward slightly, "To be blunt... I've grown to like you."
Qi Rong paused. Although he didn't need to breathe, he was suddenly conscious of it. His lips curved into a grin before- "BWAHAHAHA!"
She slammed her hand on the table, "Is it THAT funny?!"
He continued laughing heartily, "My gods!" He crossed his legs and leaned back with a smirk. "I knew you were full of shit, but this a new one. What is it you want already? I'm listening."
She huffed, "Look, I'm not happy about it. In fact, it's embarrassing liking you. The least you could do is try to take me seriously!"
He laughed, "Come on now, Jian Lan, we both know what you are. You're just in need of something and somehow came to the conclusion that I could help in the matter. Now, what is it? And when is the pork coming? It is coming, right?"
She sighed, "Yes, it's coming. I haven't lied."
He sighed back but in relief, "Ah good, at least this will be both dinner and a show!"
She placed her elbows on the table and leaned in further. Her gaze dimmed, "I'm serious, Qi Rong."
His expression faltered, and he laughed. This laugh, however, was tinged with anxiety. "Hah... No, you're just-"
She didn't break.
"Oh." He looked away awkwardly. "Um..." He placed his hand on the back of his head and nervously touched his hair. "Look, I don't think you kn-"
"Oh, I know you well enough, Green Ghost." Her eyes lidded. "It sounds perhaps a bit-"
"It's bullshit. There's no way. Don't you have a child? Do you really assume I'd be a good father to him?"
"Maybe."
Shock broke out on his face, and he was silent for a few seconds. "Why?"
"Oh, I think there's a soft side to you, Qi Rong."
"Psh." He looked away. "And why do you think that?"
A small knock at the door startled him suddenly. He watched as the pretty ghost greeted the man at the door. He came in, placed down a tray for the couple, and left quietly.
Jian Lan opened a drawer next to their table to find some flint and candles. She lit them and made a move for the washroom. "Hang on a moment, will you?"
Qi Rong nodded awkwardly and attempted to distract himself by looking at the food. It appeared well prepared. The tray consisted of two servings of glistening pork, a small salad, thick soup, and a delicious looking pastry. It definitely made him eager to indulge, but his mind wandered back to what Jian Lan had said.
It made no sense. Sure, they had some history, but... Did he really leave that much of an impact on her? When did this happen? Most people, including ghosts, detested him. He made sure of it usually. Qi Rong suddenly gulped. Something he hadn't realized, though, until that point was that Jian Lan had never actually pushed him away.
He uncrossed his legs and rested his elbows on the table. His eyebrows furrowed in concentration. 'She's never made a point to avoid me either...' Although he wouldn't admit it outright, he did enjoy being with her. As much as he loved trying to get under people's skin, she never truly felt mad at him. It was more like... she was playing. Like she enjoyed it as well... His chest fluttered just then. Jian Lan certainly wasn't the first you'd consider to be the wife type... or was she? He then bit the inside of his lip in frustration. There was no way a prostitute could be satisfied with him. Surely, she'd want different.
The door to the washroom opened. Qi Rong had to consciously blink. Jian Lan had let her long, silky hair loose and cleaned her face thoroughly. Her smooth, porcelain skin was radiant, and her gray eyes were even more beautiful in contrast. That hair that he assumed smelled of floral framed her elegant features. He suddenly focused his eyes on the candles.
"Sorry, I figured I'd clean up a bit before dinner."
He cleared his throat, "No worries."
She took her seat. "So, does it look nice?"
He nodded and began to cut a piece of pork.
Jian Lan studied his expression. He seemed... embarrassed? "Tell me, Qi Rong, how do you feel about me?"
He coughed. "What?"
"Well, I spoke. Now, it's your turn."
He sat down his knife with a soft clank. "Um..." He chuckled nervously. "I don't... I just am a bit confused." He motioned with his hand. "Why... do you feel that way? I don't get it, nor do I think I believe you."
She leaned back once again. "You're honest. Perhaps a bit rash, but you're true. Also, your company is amusing to me."
"Hey!"
She chuckled, "See? Like that." She then stood up. "Plus..." She got closer, making him shutter inwardly. She lay her gaze on his face. "You're not bad looking, Night-Touring Green Lantern."
His mouth opened a bit, and his eyes grew. He quickly averted his sight and was silent.
He suddenly felt a warm breath of air on his cheek. "You're cute when you're flustered too..." Jian Lan giggled before pressing her lips ever so softly against his burning cheek.
"..!" Qi Rong froze in shock.
She bent down and draped her arms around his shoulders. This sent more shivers through the wrath. He was right about her scent. He couldn't quite identify the flower, but it was fresh and sweet. "Have dinner with me and take a walk afterward?"
"Um..." Qi Rong couldn't meet her eyes. His were glued to the table. "Um... okay."
She hummed quietly and then gently touched the side of his face. Her fingers pushed back his brown hair. Qi Rong surprisingly didn't object, and she guided his face to the side to meet her. "May I?"
Stunned, Qi Rong could only stare. His usual scowl had vanished, and he was simply dumbfounded. He swallowed anxiously.
"Say something, or I'll go ahead," she smiled.
Embarrassed, Qi Rong closed his eyes tightly. Shortly after, he finally felt it. A pair of soft, warm lips glided over his. Sparks went through him. A moment later, he shyly moved his own lips with hers. Their environment faded from his conscious, and all he could focus on was the gentle embrace of her kiss.
She ended it slowly and smiled at the ghost before her. His eyes remained closed for a moment before looking up at her in a daze.
She chuckled and spoke sweetly, "If only you could see your face."
Qi Rong's eyes grew, "Wh-What?! It's your fault!" He turned away and jumped out of his chair. "Nonesense, catching me off guard like that!" He huffed, his face glowing red. "That wasn't fair!"
Jian Lan walked over to him with a smirk. Although he'd acted upset, he didn't make a move to get away. She took hold of his hand. "The food is getting cold."
"..." He looked down at the meal he'd been excited about earlier. His anxiety was high, but he took a breath. "I, uh, do want to try it."
"Thank you."
"Hmn?"
Jian Lan raised up on her toes suddenly and pecked his cheek once again. "Thank you for spending time with me."
Qi Rong rolled his eyes. He couldn't help but smile, "I suppose it isn't so bad."

Kehehehe I got an idea... what if Kaito was secretly working at a Maid Café (as a maid) and Len (and maybe Rin lol) found out about it? Len gay panic ensues.
This was a blast, thank you, mysterious stranger
- I've never been to a maid café, so please excuse the following story for any major issues when it comes to how they function xD -
Maid Café Kaito (KaiLen - rated T)
ao3 Link it's nearly 4000 words, so you've been warned before you click read more lol
"So you excited?!" Rin hurriedly fastened her seatbelt while Len slumped into his seat next to her.
He sighed, "Not really."
"Guuuuuhhhh!" She dramatically sighed back in a mocking way. "You dragged me to laser tag the last time we hung out. We're doing what I want this time."
Len whipped around, "You said you had fun!"
"I did, but... I don't know, I just want to do this. You agreed already, so we're going." She started up the car and pulled out of the apartment complex.
Len huffed and sat back, watching buildings go by slowly in the city traffic. He glanced down at his phone to see that Kaito hadn't answered a message he'd sent earlier, then spoke, "It's just... doesn't it seem... ya know..."
"What?"
"Like... demeaning?"
Rin chuckled, "Demeaning?"
"Yeah, aren't maid cafés for guys... with weird fetishes?"
This time, she laughed heartily, "What?!"
"You know, maid outfits and such?"
"Len, it's only weird if you make it weird. Also, being attracted to maids isn't a sin." She smiled, "I think it's cute! It's like a fun role-play thing."
"It just feels weird."
"Look, Len, if you find maids hot and can't control yourself being around cute girls, then -"
"That's not what I meant!" Len's face turned red. He looked back at his phone while Rin cackled at his reaction. He had a new message.
Sender: Kagamine Len,
Hey, Kaito! Rin insisted we go to some café together this time. You're not missing out on much but wish you could come. Anyway, hope your evening is going well.
Sender: Kaito,
Hi, Len! Ah that sounds like a good time! I wish I could come, too, but I think you guys will enjoy it. Rin makes everything fun. Get something good to eat! :)
Len locked his phone and stared back out the window. It'd been a little while since he'd seen Kaito. He'd started to miss him. 'That goofball is always busy, too...' he thought.
They came up to the café, and Len immediately felt embarrassed. The building was garish with anime girls in maid outfits plastered to its windows, pink walls, and a neon sign telling the world of its existence. He lowered his head as he slowly unfastened his seatbelt and mumbled, "Maybe it's a good thing it's just us..."
Rin hummed with a big smile. She then squealed with excitement, "Oh my gosh, it's so cute!" She jumped out of the car and proceeded to nearly be bouncing while waiting on him. Len straightened out his white, short-sleeved, button-up shirt and joined her. He'd almost come in a regular shirt and jeans, but Rin was insistent that they wore something a bit less casual. He had a feeling this was just because she wanted to play dress up and have a friend join in. Her dress was pretty, though, he had to admit. It was a soft blue with cream accents and some cutesy frills. She was clearly having fun.
Rin dashed to the door of the establishment and held it open for him in anticipation, "Come on!"
"Are you going to be this excited the whole time?"
"More than likely, get used to it!"
Len made a small smile at her and walked in... then was bombarded by a very enthusiastic lady.
"Master! Mistress! Welcome, home!"
"Gah!" Len jumped back a bit, and Rin pushed ahead.
"Hi! Oh my gosh, you are so cute!"
The "maid" giggled playfully and bowed, "Thank you, Mistress!" From her short brown hair to her frilly white stockings beneath her puffy black dress and apron, she radiated the definition of adorable. Her bright eyes were full of joy, "Will anyone else be joining you this evening?"
"No, just us."
"Okay, come with me, and I'll seat you."
Len looked up and around at the interior as they followed the waitress. The outside may have been ugly to him, but the inside was far less offensive. He relaxed just a bit and took his spot across from Rin at the small table. She whispered enthusiastically.
"Isn't it nice?"
Len nodded begrudgingly and shifted his attention back to the waitress.
"Here are the options for dinner this evening," she said cheerfully. "Here are the drinks and the meals. If you have any changes for a dish you'd prefer, please let me know! Oh!" She pulled a small bell from her white apron's pocket, "If you need me before I return, please ring this, and I will hurry over!"
Rin beamed, "Thank you!"
Len looked down at his drink options. He was highly considering alcohol when he suddenly heard Rin gasp, "Len! LEN!"
"Good, god, what?"
She pointed behind him excitedly with her other hand covering her mouth. "Is that...Kaito?!"
"..!" Len's heart lurched at the mention of his name, and he quickly turned in his seat. He scanned over the rest of the customers but saw no one who looked remotely like him. He turned back, "Where?"
She pointed with enthusiasm, "The maid!!!"
"What?" Len looked again and finally saw. There, at the other end of the café, was a tall, thin maid with short silky blue hair. Her face was away from them, but she certainly had a similar figure to Kaito. His heart rate rose slightly, but he scoffed, "That's not him. It's just some tall girl, Silly."
"No, no! I swear! Wait for them to turn around again!"
Len sighed, "If we keep staring at this poor girl, she's going to get uncomfortable..." He turned again and immediately froze... It was definitely Kaito.
Kaito was leaned over slightly, speaking with a customer excitedly. Len's eyes, without his permission, drank in this maid's appearance eagerly. For some reason, knowing it was Kaito made them suddenly very appealing to him. His gaze lingered on those long legs in stockings, then on the frilly bottom of his dress brushing over his thighs. The back was a bit shorter from leaning. Len quickly turned away, his face burning with intensity. He picked up his drink menu to hide.
Rin perked up, "I was right, wasn't I?! Oh my gosh, he's so pretty! I wonder how long he's worked here! I'm going to get his attention!"
"No!" Len dropped his menu in a panic but picked it up again.
Rin ignored him and dinged the bell. The same maid rushed over with a smile, "Do the master and mistress know what they'd like for drinks?"
Rin smiled, "Not yet, but do you mind sending over that maid with the blue hair?"
"Oh!" She bowed, "Of course!" She bounced away and leaned in to Kaito next to the customers and whispered something to him. He had a look of confusion and glanced over at the waving Rin. A big, open smile came over his face, and he ran over.
"Rin! Len!" He practically shook with excitement. "What are you guys doing here?! I didn't know THIS was the cafe you were coming to!"
Rin laughed, "We didn't know you were a maid! This is so cool! How long have you worked here?!"
Kaito blushed slightly, "Is it weird? I've been here for about a month now." He looked down at his feet, "I've always found these cafés fun and wanted to try it out. They said they'd been wanting to hire a male, so I got lucky haha."
"Not weird at all!" Rin touched his puffy sleeve, "Oh my god, you're adorable, Kaito. I wish you were our maid."
"Yeah? I could check with the others to see if we could swap! My shift ends in about an hour, though."
"Oh! We can be done by then."
"Okay!" Kaito bowed and rushed off.
Rin was smiling until she finally looked back at Len, who was still hiding. "Um... you okay?"
Len nodded.
"You're not embarrassed that our friend works here, are you?"
"No, why would I be?"
"You shouldn't be. Kaito is having fun."
"I'm not. He can do what he wants."
Rin sighed, "Seriously, Len, I never would've taken you as that type."
His voice dropped a bit, "I'm not."
"Well then," Rin leaned over a bit. "Why are you literally hiding?" She plucked his menu away from him and froze. His face was incredibly red.
Len quickly hid in his arms on the table.
"Wait..." Rin lowered to his level. She looked around to make sure Kaito wasn't nearby, "Len... did you think he was hot in that outfit?"
"No!" Len hid further.
"Oh my gosh," she whispered. "You did, you like Kaito."
"I do not!"
"How long have you had a crush on him?" She teased.
"Stop!"
Kaito appeared again, "Hey, so we're good to go!" He pulled out a notepad from his apron's pocket, "You guys know what you want to drink?"
"Oh no, do the thing!" Rin exclaimed.
Kaito laughed, pressed out his dress, and started over after clearing his throat softly, "Do Master and Mistress know what they'd like this humble maid to fetch them?"
"Oh yes!" Rin pointed at a pink lemonade drink, "This one.... and ..." She looked at Len, "He'll have a caramel macciato. We'll both have the omurice to eat, too."
Kaito glanced curiously at the blonde that was still hiding his face, then back at Rin. He mouthed silently, 'Is he okay?'
She nodded with a sympathetic smile.
Kaito nodded back and took Rin's menus. He saw that Len was resting on his. He touched it gently.
Len saw the blue nails and lifted slightly for him to take it and went back to hiding.
Rin watched as he walked off with their order and spoke low, "Pst! Len! Sexy man is gone, you can come out!"
"Shut it."
"My god, how big of a boner did he give you?"
Len shot up, "I don't have one!"
Rin laughed hard, "I'm sorry, I've just never seen you this worked up before."
He turned his head in embarrassment and focused his eyes on the table in misery.
"Len."
He finally looked at her face, "What?"
"It's nothing to be ashamed of if you think someone is attractive."
"Says the girl that never talks about her crushes."
"Oh, I don't get those."
"What?"
"No, I'd rather observe the love than be a part of it."
"... Sounds creepy."
She laughed, "Was what I chose for you okay?"
He smiled shyly, "Yeah, thanks, Rin..."
"No problem. I could tell you didn't want to think about it."
He sighed, "Sorry, I've kinda ruined this, haven't I?"
"Oh no, it's fun."
Len gave her a dirty look for the teasing but didn't say anything.
"You know... he said that his shift is over soon..."
"What about it?"
Kaito returned with a tray in his arms, "Hello! Your drinks..." He bent down, presenting them on the table in a graceful fashion. Len had looked down awkwardly but popped up when the bluenette spoke again, "Len?"
Len felt his body burning being so close to Kaito. He didn't know why seeing him as a maid made him so flustered. He spoke softly, "Y-Yeah?"
"Bunny or kitty?"
"Huh?" He met with his pretty blue eyes, panicked, and looked down when he finally saw a bottle of caramel in his hand. "Um... kitty."
"Excellent choice, Master!"
Len hid behind his fingers at that name and watched as Kaito happily doodled a simple cat onto his foam. He pursed his lips a bit while making the whiskers and stood up straight again.
"There we go!" He slid the drink to Len carefully, "I hope you enjoy." He took a step back. "I shall return with your food shortly." He bowed with an innocent smile and walked away.
Rin looked over, "Aww, isn't it cute? I love the details here. I wish I got a coffee now."
Len nudged it towards her.
"What? No, I'm not gonna take it from you! Kaito made that for you. It'd be rude." She sipped at her lemonade, "Mm... So, how do I get my Len back? You're all mopey."
He finally tasted the coffee and shrugged afterward.
"Just treat him like you normally would. He's still Kaito, you know." Len was silent, so she continued, "Anyway, I was gonna say maybe we could all hang out after he's done with work."
Len feverishly shook his head, "I'd rather just go home."
She huffed, "My gosh, you have it bad. But seriously, how long? Why haven't you told me?"
He raised his eyebrow at her, "Gee, I wonder."
"Hey, I'm fine with it! Kaito's a great person! He's sweet and would be great for you."
"No, I didn't say anything because I knew you'd tease me, regardless of who it was."
She looked away innocently, "Well... Yeah." She came back, "So, what, like one month, two months? Just now because of the dress?"
"Ugh..." He stared at the cat in his coffee. "...about three years."
She nearly spat out her drink, "What?!"
"Your food is ready!"
Len jumped at his voice and made sure not to look at the other boy.
"An omurice for Master.... and an omurice for Mistress."
"Thank you, Kaito, it looks so good!" Rin played with her egg a bit.
"Th-Thanks, Kaito..."
Kaito's face lit up at Len's pitiful voice. He placed a hand on his shoulder, "Hey, you doing okay, Len?"
He glanced up. Kaito's face was too pretty. He immediately averted his eyes and stammered, "Y-Yeah."
Rin shoved a mouthful of egg in, "He's fine. He's just aroused by your maid outfit."
"RIN!" Terrified, he spat out, "No, I'm not! She's just being weird!" A few seconds of awkward silence passed, and the bluenette laughed.
"Stop messing with him so much, Rin. You both look nice today, I didn't mention that before."
Rin smiled, "Thank you! I chose his outfit, too."
Len could not believe that Rin had blurted that out. He wanted to become invisible and just die.
"It was a nice decision. You look great, Len."
Len blushed even harder. His voice was too soft and sweet. He was about to excuse himself when Rin spoke up.
"I'll be back. I need to use the restroom."
Kaito pointed, "It's right over there."
"Thank you!" She got up and started walking off.
Kaito motioned at Rin's seat, "May I?"
Len nodded.
Kaito drummed his delicate hands on the tablecloth, "So... this place bothers you, doesn't it?"
Len couldn't look at him, "I'm not judging you for working here, I promise."
"I know."
He peaked up, "You do?"
He smiled warmly at him, "Yeah, I mean, you've never seemed like the type to judge so harshly."
Len nodded, "Thank you... I'm sorry that I'm in an odd mood, Kaito."
"It's okay."
Len felt the silence come over them, and he turned away while touching the back of his head. He'd left his hair down for the trip and began combing it nervously with his fingers. He heard the ruffle of Kaito's dress and shyly looked over.
Kaito had taken a paper from his notepad and was messing with it. Len watched curiously. He folded it a few times and stood it up. Then he suddenly flicked it at Len, bopping him in the nose.
"Hey!" Len rubbed his skin. He laughed and bent over to get it off the floor. He sat back up to see a big grin on Kaito's face. "What was that for?" Len attempted to hit him with it, but Kaito caught it.
"I was just playing some American football."
"...That wasn't remotely like the game."
Kaito shrugged with a smile, "I don't know, some tourist did that to me once and called it that. I think he was flirting."
Len laughed, "What a way to flirt. Do you get a lot of weirdos here?"
"Not too often. Most are pretty respectful but super excited, kinda like Rin."
Len's initial anxiety had subsided a bit. He still wished that Kaito weren't in that outfit, though. "She'd probably love working here, too."
Kaito looked over Len's shoulder, "Hey, did you guys take her car?"
Len turned as well, "Yeah, why?"
"I thought I saw it in that one parking space, but I don't see it now."
Len jumped up, "I'll be back, Kaito!"
He rushed outside and saw that the car was, in fact, gone. He grabbed the sides of his hair. "Ughhhh!" He quickly called Rin.
Rin: "Yo, whuddup?"
Len: "Don't do that, why did you leave me?!"
Rin: "Hmm... Well, I saw you and Kaito talking and didn't want to interrupt your date."
Len: "What?! Rin, come back and get me! How am I gonna get home? We didn't even pay!"
Rin: "I'll send you some money. As far as getting home, I'm stuck in traffic and can't turn around. I guess Kaito will have to offer you a ride."
Click.
He stared at his screen in disbelief. Len heard the door to the caf open. He turned to see Kaito walking towards him.
"Is she okay?"
"Unfortunately..." Len groaned, "She left me here and said she's stuck in traffic."
Kaito lifted an eyebrow, "Why did she leave you?"
Len looked down, blushing, "Um... she's just messing with me." He clutched his phone nervously. "I guess I'll have to pay for a ride."
"I can take you home."
Len could practically hear Rin's teasing laughter in his ear at his words. He silently cursed her. "Um, it's okay, Kaito. I don't want you to go out of your way."
Kaito came closer, "I really don't mind, Len. It'd bother me if I didn't."
Len couldn't help but smile a little, "Okay."
Len had spent the remaining bit of Kaito's shift finishing his meal. He waited for him at the entrance to the restaurant on a sofa.
"Sorry about that." Kaito walked over with a bag in hand. "One of my coworkers needed some help." He looked down at his dress after seeing Len's expression, "I'm just gonna change when I get home since it's already dark. Ready to go?"
He nodded awkwardly and got up. Kaito then led him outside to his car. Len watched his frame ahead of him. He really wished he'd taken the time to change. He'd always found Kaito attractive, but he felt like a creep at the moment.
Len took his spot in the passenger seat and buckled in. He kept his head down as Kaito got situated.
"Getting sleepy?" He asked while putting the car in reverse. He backed out of the spot.
He shook his head, "No, I'm fine. How about you?"
"Oh, that's good. You seem quiet, is all. I'm awake enough to drive, don't worry, haha. I was going to suggest you stay at my place if you'd like."
Len's chest started to pound. He began to play with the bottom of his shirt. "No, no, it's fine..." A few moments of silence passed. An odd tension was building. Len wasn't sure if it was just from him, though. He glanced over at Kaito driving. The bluenette felt his stare and met with his eyes briefly. He focused back on the road with a warm smile.
The atmosphere felt thick to Len. He didn't notice it earlier, but... He bit his lip slightly, then spoke in a soft tone, "Um..."
"Hmn?"
"I, uh... I would like to stay at your place if that's really okay."
Kaito chuckled. He reached his hand over to place it atop Len's and then rubbed his thumb in a gentle manner, "I'd love that, Len."
The car stopped outside of Kaito's small home. It was located outside of the city in a more rural area. Kaito hurried to the door, unlocked it, turned and curtsied at Len.
Len snickered at his goofy behavior. He came inside and took off his shoes. He then peaked to watch Kaito bend over to undo the straps on his. His dark blue bangs had fallen gracefully over his nose and matching blue eyes. Len still found him incredibly pretty. He turned away with a fluttering sensation in his chest. He walked further into the house and distracted himself by looking at a painting on the wall. He suddenly felt a hand touch his arm softly.
Len jumped slightly and turned to see Kaito. His eyes were dark and shining at the same time. His beautiful face was directed at Len fully. The blonde lost his breath for a moment, then realized that Kaito was coming closer.
He took a step towards him, reached out a hand, and delicately placed it on the side of Len's face.
Panic erupted through him, but so did a thrilling spark. He stumbled back a bit and felt the wall behind his back. Luckily, he hadn't knocked against the artwork.
Kaito chuckled softly, "You okay?"
"..." Len looked down and stammered quietly, "Y-Yeah..." He was far too nervous to be embarrassed about it. He struggled but met with his gaze again.
Kaito drank in the sweet, bashful face beneath him. His fair skin was bright pink, and those green eyes were incredibly timid. There was no way that what Rin had said at the café was simply a joke. There had to be some truth in there. Len seemed to feel the same way he did.
"I, uh," Len tried to look away, but then felt the hand on his arm raise up to touch the back of his hair. Chills went through him. His body temperature rose instantly afterward. Kaito had gotten so close.
Kaito lifted Len's chin a bit and leaned over. He watched the smaller male's eyes close tightly as he trailed his finger over his soft lips. He whispered sweetly, "I like you, Len."
He opened his eyes but only a little and stammered in a barely audible whisper, "I-I like you too, Kaito..."
Kaito smiled and finally pressed his lips against Len's.
Len melted. He brought his arms around Kaito's waist to bring him closer. His fingers trailed over the folds of his dress. Kaito had ended the kiss, but Len added in another. His chest was soaring.
Kaito smiled between kisses and finally broke them, "I think I need to get changed."
Len was dazed. He blinked in confusion, "Huh?"
Kaito snickered, "You might eat me if I stay in this dress."
Len's eyes grew, and he quickly turned toward the wall to hide, "I don't have a thing for maids!"
Kaito laughed loudly, "Hey." He came close to him and placed his hands on his shoulders. He bent down and kissed his ear.
Len gasped and shriveled inward towards the wall.
"I was only teasing you, Len." Kaito took hold of his hand, "Wanna watch a movie?"
Len was still hiding but eventually nodded.
He made himself comfortable on the couch while waiting for Kaito. He appeared sometime later with damp hair under a towel and in a loose T shirt and shorts. He plopped next to him and immediately pulled him to his side, "Better?"
Len nodded bashfully and leaned against his shoulder, "Thank you."

Ice Cream in February
(KaiLen fanfic)
T-Rated - fluff stuff
Kaito was ending his day at the recording studio in a terrific mood. Not only did the recording go pretty well...
He unlocked his cell as he walked out into the cold evening street:
Sender: Kagamine Len,
[Hey, there! If you're free tonight, wanna come over after you're done with work? I have something for you]
... but Len had invited him over, too. Kaito had a small smile on his face as he read the message again. He finally messaged back:
Sender: Kaito,
[Just finished! I'll be over soon if that's okay :)]
He rubbed his cold hands together and placed them and his phone in his coat pockets. Snow fell from above and landed lightly on his blue hair. He realized this and wished he'd brought a hat with him. He knew Len could live with seeing bad hair, but he'd rather look somewhat decent when visiting. His mind immediately went to Len's comically pointed hair. He stopped in his tracks by a crosswalk, bit his lip, and failed to keep his laugh in.
Kaito had asked to style his hair for him in the past, but he always denied the offer while becoming so flustered. Perhaps he intentionally made it that pointy and didn't want it messed with. Whatever the case, he'd dropped the non-issue and enjoyed the messy hair on that head.
His phone dinged:
Sender: Kagamine len,
[Sure thing. I'll be waiting for ya]
Kaito messaged back a thumbs up and realized he'd made it to the complex. He pushed down his excitement as he climbed the stairs to his home.
To say he enjoyed visiting Len would be an understatement. He wasn't sure of what Len was wanting to give him, but he was happy nonetheless that he'd thought of him. His birthday was coming up, so it was more than likely a present.
Kaito strolled up to his apartment door and knocked.
"Come in!"
He turned the knob. The door was unlocked for him already. He sighed with a smile as he walked in and began taking off his boots. "Len, you're gonna let a weirdo in here one day doing th- Ah!"
Len attacked him with a tight hug. His head was buried into his chest. "That's okay, he's here!"
Kaito laughed heartily and touched the arm around his waist. "What's gotten into you? Is this the gift?"
He watched as Len's face turned beet red. The blonde quickly detached from him, "S-Sorry!" His ears were red too. "I mean, I didn't mean for it to be such a big hug. I was just happy you came on such short notice!"
Kaito lifted an eyebrow in curiosity at his behavior. Len had shown this side before. There were times when he'd do or say something that was more on the intimate side than usual and would panic immediately afterward. Kaito had never reacted negatively to those moments, so he wasn't sure why Len got so scared of upsetting him over it. He chuckled, "You're being weird. It's fine. I really liked your hug."
"Oh." Len paused awkwardly. He fiddled with his thumbs for a second and then dashed off. "Come into the kitchen! It's set up for you!"
His curiosity peaked at this. Kitchen? Did he cook for him? Kaito hung up his jacket and followed after him. His blue eyes grew when he saw it.
Len had a full spread of ice cream toppings laid out on the dining table, including sprinkles, chocolate chips, crumbled cookies, various syrups, gummies, and different candies. It was way too much, but Kaito was thrilled. He ran over to it. A big, open smile grew on his face. "Len!" He whipped around to face him, "You did this for me?!"
Len giggled shyly and nodded. "I know your favorite ice cream place is closed during your birthday, so I wanted to give you as close to it as I could. Did I miss anything?"
Kaito's ice cream-obsessed mind immediately thought 'no waffle cone bits', but he was too excited to care about it. "Len, it's so perfect! You're the best!" He went to hug him like Len had earlier but stopped himself. "Oh," he said nervously. He put up his hands. "Sorry."
Len looked a tad disappointed that he had stopped the would-be hug, which made Kaito instantly regret it. He understood now that he may have been scared of showing that level of affection but did want it from him.
The blonde smiled, "What flavor do you want?"
Kaito switched his attention back to the table of sweets. His mind was swimming with excitement. "Uh.... vanilla? I want to build up a flavor!"
"Sounds good." He got some from the freezer and retrieved a bowl from a cabinet.
Kaito watched with anticipation for a moment, but then he caught something out of the corner of his eye. "Hey, Len, what's that?"
Len had just picked up the ice cream scoop and froze. He looked over at his pantry that was still partially open. Something metallic was visible inside. His expression went to fear. "Um...what do you mean?"
Kaito smirked and stood up, keeping his eyes on him in a playful way. He walked right over to the pantry. "Oh my gosh, I KNEW IT!"
Len dropped down in a seat and buried his head in his hands on the table.
Kaito ran back, his eyes bright and voice high pitched, "You have an ice cream maker?! Did you make this?!"
He shook his head, still hiding, "I tried, but it didn't turn out right... I ended up buying instead..."
Kaito slumped his shoulders, "Len, you're unbelievable."
He poked his eyes up a bit, "Huh?"
"You made me ice cream, Len. Have you always had an ice cream maker?"
Back in his hands, he went. He shook his head again.
Kaito's chest was pounding. Len had bought one just to make him homemade ice cream. He wouldn't have bought one otherwise. A warm, fuzzy feeling took him over. "Len..." his tone was soft. He walked over to the bashful boy. Without thinking, he placed his hand on his head.
Len jumped slightly and buried his face deeper into his arms, "Stupid, I know. The directions were so simple, and I screwed it up."
Kaito frowned but petted his hair. "Wow..."
"Hmn?"
"Your hair... it really is soft. I thought it'd feel like a rock from using so much gel..."
Len popped up, "It's not gel! That's just how I was designed."
A gentle smile came over him, "I was just playing. I actually really like your messy hair," he said truthfully. He petted it back softly, watching it spring back up. "It's cute."
Len's cheeks were burning. He didn't say anything.
Kaito took a step back, "So... do you still have some of the 'screw up?"
Len took in a small breath and averted his eyes. "Um, yeah, but it's seriously not good enough. You won't like it."
Kaito walked over to the freezer. "May I?"
Len buried his head once again. "I warned you."
Taking that as a yes, Kaito picked out a clear container and placed it on the table. "It can't be that bad, Len." He scooped out some in a bowl.
Len stayed hidden, not looking at him or his creation.
Kaito placed his spoon in it. It seemed like a nice consistency, and It smelled fine. He brought it to his lips.
Len suddenly heard the scooping of toppings. He looked up. Kaito was pouring all kinds of stuff in his bowl. He grabbed a bottle of strawberry syrup and squeezed it in.
Kaito met his eyes with a grin, "Making it taste good."
Len gaped, "Hey, it wasn't THAT bad!"
Kaito placed both hands on the table and began laughing hard.
He got up and stormed over, "Hey!"
Kaito wiped at his eyes and looked down at him, "I'm sorry..." He tried his best to come back down, "it isn't bad, I just wanted to tease you. You're really hard on yourself, you know?"
Len huffed and dropped his voice a little, "...Silly, huh?"
"Why silly?"
He shook his head. "I don't know... I'm glad you like it, though. Um...happy birthday by the way."
Kaito smiled, "Thank you, Len. This was so thoughtful of you. It really made me happy. You didn't have to go through so much trouble, though. I was just excited that you invited me over."
Len looked at his feet.
Kaito quickly added, "B-But I liked it! I meant, ya know, I'm satisfied with just seeing you. Not that I didn't like the surprise. I loved it."
Len put his hand to the back of his head, "I really know how to make things awkward, huh?"
"I think you're just feeling nervous for some reason."
"...Maybe."
He turned back to the ice cream and sat down. He held out his spoonful to Len, "Want some?"
"Um..." Len observed the spoon that Kaito had already used. A few seconds later, he took it and quickly downed the ice cream, trying not to think about it.
"Good?"
Len smiled, "Yeah, I guess it isn't too bad... You added way too much syrup, though."
Kaito sighed, "Fine, then feed it to me."
"What?"
He laughed but waited patiently with a playful smile.
"You, uh..." Len scooped up more. "You want me to feed you?"
Kaito nodded.
His breath hitched slightly. He nervously moved it to Kaito's lips. The bluenette watched Len's face with gratitude as he ate it.
Len smiled weakly and brought another spoonful to him. "You're weird," he said softly.
He took the offer and smiled playfully again. "I'm just taking advantage of it being my birthday present."
Kaito finished the next bite but stopped him from getting a new one. He swooped in and gave Len a small peck on the cheek.
Len dropped the spoon. It landed onto the table next to the bowl, causing a loud 'ding'.
"...!" He froze for a moment, looking at Kaito in surprise. The coolness from his lips lingered on his burning skin. He dropped his eyes with a nervous chuckle, "Wh-What was that for?"
Kaito studied his bashful expression, "Is it okay?"
Len didn't answer immediately but had a small, shy smile. "Um, it's fine." The blonde fiddled with his hands for a beat, then quickly leaned over to kiss his cheek back.
Shock broke out on Kaito's face. He instinctively touched where he'd been kissed. "Wow... I wasn't expecting one back."
"I, uh-" Len took a step back. "Sorry, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."
"Wait." Kaito motioned for him to come back. He met with his eyes, "You just surprised me."
"Y-You're the one that kissed me first!" Len's face was red and in near panic. "I assumed it was okay with you."
Kaito sighed with an exhausted smile. He reached for his hand, bringing him closer. "Len... Why do you think I kissed you?"
Len couldn't look him in the eyes, "Um..."
"May I have another from you?"
"..." This made him look at him again. He hesitated for a moment, taking in Kaito's face. His blue eyes had a longing in them that Len hadn't seen before. His body began to feel weak under their gaze. He took a nervous breath and quickly kissed his cheek. Because it was so quick and he'd closed his eyes, he nearly missed. Kaito's silky hair had brushed against his nose. He stood afterward, looking down bashfully.
"You okay?"
Len shifted anxiously, "I'm okay." Kaito's hand was still holding his. Len cautiously squeezed his hand back lightly.
Kaito rubbed his thumb and relaxed his hand, letting it slide away from him. He then got up from the chair, looking down at the smaller vocaloid.
Len held his breath. Those eyes on him still had that longing in them. Fluttering anxiety flooded him. It was both scary and thrilling.
Kaito was in disbelief at how this moment was going. There had been signs that Len potentially felt something for him, but he'd been far too scared to act on any of his own feelings towards him. What if he had read the situation wrong? But Len's behavior from that evening felt more obvious to him than usual. He had to take the chance. He carefully brought a hand to cup his face gently.
Len's blue eyes grew as his chin lifted. His lips parted in disbelief. Kaito was about to...
The bluenette leaned down a bit and whispered in a soothing tone, "Len?"
Len was paralyzed. His body felt as though it were both running on overdrive and shut down at the same time. "... yeah?" he forced out quietly.
His hand brushed back his hair a bit from his ear. Settling it back on his cheek, he whispered, "May I kiss your lips this time?"
Len trembled beneath his touch. He hoped that he couldn't feel it. He didn't respond right away, and Kaito didn't move.
Growing worried that he'd scared him, Kaito made a move to let go when Len suddenly took hold of his face. He blinked, looking into those big eyes.
Len quickly closed his eyes in embarrassment but raised up on his toes, pressing his lips shyly against his.
Kaito sighed in the kiss and wrapped his arms around him snugly. He kissed back a bit deeper and was surprised when he felt Len's fingers feel their way through his hair. He relished the feeling while it lasted.
Len broke the kiss with a heavy breath and stepped back. He immediately looked to the floor and whispered in a scared tone, "Was that too much?"
Kaito brought him back into a hug, pressing him into his chest lightly. He chuckled, "I loved it."
Len tightened his arms around him and burrowed in his shirt. He rested against him for a few seconds before speaking, "...Are we dating now?" His voice was muffled by the fabric.
Kaito burst out laughing. He rubbed his back lovingly and spoke in a sweet tone, "Will you be my boyfriend?"
He paused for a moment before answering, "...Was my ice cream really that good?"
"That's not why I like you, Silly"
"So, it wasn't good?"
"Ugh," he pretended to be annoyed. "Your ice cream skills are incredible. You should open up a- wait actually, I would love it if you opened up an ice cream shop. I'd help you-"
"Okay, fine, I'd love to be your boyfriend, Kaito."
