My birthday was a week from today so that’s cool :)

We’re only 5 days into the new semester and it’s already killing me ahh

I had some free time before one of my classes so I decided to work on some sociology! It’s pretty interesting, excited to get into more of it.

Sorry I haven’t been posting original content in a while, lol everytime before I do I always want it to be super perfect but oh well, hope you guys had a fantastic daaay

7-24-17: Let’s all just agree that I have no idea how to take a desk photo (the reason I couldn’t show more of my desk is because it’s a mess). 

Also, a word of advice that I’d like to give to all the studyblrs out there is to never put your Starbucks on top of your laptop (like I did). Mine came way too close to being knocked over and spilling all over my keyboard.

how to study as a busy student

i personally go through this a lot because i have to balance saturday band, honor band, auditions, performances, history club, national history day with school and nonexistant friends. so here u go, friend!! this is my advice to keep up with your (busy) studying!! ha see what i did there im so funny

1. have a planning system. this is a no-brainer. but honestly you’re going to need something to help you keep track of all your deadlines AND your afterschool activities. it doesn’t have to be expensive or fancy; heck it can even be on your phone. but make sure you’re keeping track of everything.

2. use all the time you can to do your homework. if you’re really behind or you have a lot of homework and not enough time to do it at home, do your homework when you can during school. this does NOT mean trying to set the world record for fastest writer while your teacher is collecting the homework. this means on the bus, waiting for your food/the bus/your friends, those down periods during and between classes, during sports practice, and even during lunch. however do NOT make a habit of this!! i get that its a lot, but please still try to have a life!!! <3

3. set aside a day a week to solely catch up on school work, and another day just to relax. i usually have saturday as my school work day and sunday as my day to relax and prepare for the week. this may seem contradictory, seeing as you may have sports practice or rehearsal on saturday or something. but think of it this way: you’re already going to be working your butt off that day. you might as well keep that flow going and get all your school work together and catch up on any missing assignments. you can also use that sunday off as your motivation to work hard because youre being rewarded with a completely free day.

4. do your homework on friday. please. just do it. this kind of follows the same concept as above: you have school that day anyways, so keep working your hardest. now, if you have no friends like me, this’ll be easy. but if you have plans on fridays (which you should, seriously, go out), stop working 1-2 hours before you have to go somewhere. you can continue any work you havent completed on your catch-up day.

5. drop one or two things. this sounds really painful!!! but being in a lot of extracurriculars and having a nice application/resume is not as nice as your mental health. not being able to balance too many things at once will stress you out and make you sick. like, i used to be in drama club and i also had piano class on wednesdays. once i got older, i realized that these things looked nice on my honor society application, but i didnt have time for what really mattered. (plus i didn’t rly like them anyways.) if you can work your way around it, fine. but otherwise, keep the things close to your heart and drop what you absolutely don’t have time for.

6. if worse comes to worse, talk to your teachers. they will understand, if you’re struggling to be a well-rounded student and keep up your grades at the same time. this doesn’t mean lie or use your teachers as an easy way out. but rather, if everything becomes too overwhelming, talk to someone.

here’s some real talk kids.

Stationery isn’t important when it comes to your education. Say it again. Just because you don’t have all those staedtler triplus fineliners or zebra mildliners or a filofax planner doesn’t mean you can’t become a studyblr. It doesn’t mean that your hard work and effort put into your notes is considered irrelevant. Because when you’re taking that exam, whether you wrote your terms and definitions in aqua and violet respectively or highlighted your diagrams in mild vermilion, or on the other hand you scribbled everything in black biro, your studying is what gets you the score you want. Not your goddamn fineliners. Your effort, your self discipline that’s what gets you what you want. I get it, they’re pretty. But when the hell did studying and education become more about what your notes and study materials look like rather than the actual content? So if switching pens every five seconds stresses the hell out of you because you have five exams to study for and there isn’t a whole lot of time, or if you’re hesitating creating a blog about the importance of education and studying because of stupid ass pens, this post is your reminder.

(pink isn’t my favorite color but I was feeling up for a change this week) July is almost over, it’s very weird to think i’ve been out on vacation this long. i’ve been doing some lettering recently and i’m really enjoying the crayola markers ! maybe i’ll post some of my practices ? I feel like I need to post more original content oops

Hey y’all!! This is the long awaited explanation for my disappearence feat. a ton of pictures from my trip to California for FBLA NLC! (and I would normally never post a picture of myself on here but we all looked quite nice for Awards of Excellence)

I did in fact, not die and now I’m finally back and will hopefully be on daily!

Now as for why I kind of dropped off the face of the Earth, school started getting really stressful with the impending doom of finals and AP Exams and I figured the best way to make sure I was focused on that was to only focus on that which meant tumblr had to go.

And oh my, did a lot happen during my time away!!

I got accepted into my school’s Talented and Gifted Program

I was nominated for NHS

I did a job shadow at Chick Fil A Headquarters

I took the ACT again and got a 31

I passed all my classes with A’s

I got a 4 on the AP Lang Exam

I got placed on a super team at the FBLA State Leadership Conference to compete at Nationals

I flew to California for NLC and ended up placing in the top 15 in the nation for Marketing!

(not academics related but I went to Disneyland and Disney World within a week of each other!)

I applied and got accepted to Wingate University and was offered the Presidential scholarship

I applied and got accepted to Georgia State University where I am currently registered to begin classes in the Fall!

ways to stay productive in summer-

1. learn a new language-

ah, all the time in the world we all have during summer! currently, i’m trying to learn Italian, which isn’t too hard because my first language was Spanish. if you all want a different post on how i got started tell me!

2. start a bullet journal-

with no school in your schedule, you have time to make your bullet journal as complicated or as simple as you’d like. i recently bought a journal and used it as a bujo. i love it!

3. practice your handwriting-

i know many people hate their own handwriting, but how are you going to like it if you don’t practice! i’ve changed my handwriting completely this summer. if you guys want a post about it let me know.

4. make a studyblr/blog-

that’s what i did! i’ve started my studyblr, instagram, and blog (all are linked on my tumblr page ;) )

5. practice calligraphy-

i’ve learned how to do calligraphy with Crayola markers. it’s very easy once you get the hang of it. There are plenty of tutorials online.

6. clean your room-

it’s a great time to clean your room! i know when it’s the school year i never have time to be cleaning my room. you can do a deep decluttering because you probabaly haven’t in a while…

7. DO YOUR SUMMER HOMEWORK-

please for the love of god, do! your! summer! homework! if! you! have! it! i finished my summer homework a couple weeks ago, but my friends still haven’t started. i’m saving their butts by helping them with it. i know plenty of people are going to start doing it two days before school starts. please don’t be one of those people.

8.read!-

i know a lot of people don’t like to read but maybe with your summer boredom you’ll get so bored that you’ll want to read? currently, i’m reading Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare.

9. try to prepare for the upcoming school year-

look up your classes and research about them. it’s good to start preparing for what you’re going to learn. it helps so when you go over those subjects in class, you can excel in it ;)

10. relax-

this is summer. your free time. relax and get ready for another stressful school year <3

if you applied as a tutor, reapply with your birthday, your school system, and (if any) any new classes you can now tutor in
